Pierre Cardin postpones tribute fashion show

OHMYGOSSIP — Pierre Cardin will stage a runway tribute to its late founder just after Paris Couture Week.
The fashion house – whose legendary creator died a year ago, aged 98 – is postponing its broadcast of the planned fashion show, originally planned to take place on 29 December, to January 28 at the National Air and Space Museum, near Le Bourget airport, just north of Paris.
The designer – who had his heyday in the latter half of the twentieth century – was known for showcasing his ground-breaking collections in opulent locations, such as the Gobi Desert and the iconic, bubble-like Palais Bulles on the French Riviera.
This event – which comes after the annual French haute couture week, which runs from January 24 to 27 – will show some of the designer’s last garments, along with some fresh designs from the team after his death.
In a statement, the brand revealed his great-nephew, the current artistic director Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin, will be leading the tribute.
The statement said: “This fashion show, designed and orchestrated by his nephew Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin, now at the head of the group, perpetuates the style and codes that have made the success of the house.”
Rodrigo – who assumed his position in October 2020 – added: “We hope to do things that he would not have recognized as something he had done, it is important to head in the direction of creation — while recognizing Pierre Cardin, the brand.”
Rodrigo is one of the main heirs of the style legend’s estate – which included the Paris restaurant Maxim’s.
He was buried at a private ceremony at Montmartre at the start of 2021 and his funeral included France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron among the attendees.

Dame Joan Collins refused to have a face lift because it was too expensive

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joan Collins refused to have a face lift because it was too expensive.
The 88-year-old actress insisted she doesn’t believe in “tweakments” and just relies on a good skincare routine to keep herself looking younger than her years, but the one time she made enquiries about cosmetic surgery, she was put off by the price.
She said: “I don’t believe in tweakments.
“I’ve never had them done and I’m not going to because I’ve seen some disasters.
“I once went to speak to somebody during my ‘Dynasty’ days and when they told me how much it would cost, I told them, ‘No thank you, I’ll continue with my face cream.’ “
The ‘Dynasty’ legend insisted her beauty routine is “pretty simple” but moisturising is the key.
She told Woman’s Weekly magazine: “My beauty routine is pretty simple – I’ve always taken care of my skin. I never go to bed without removing my make-up and applying night cream.
“Plus I never stop moisturising during the day if I’m not wearing make-up and I use ice on my eyes before I go out to an event.”
Meanwhile, Joan admitted her husband, Percy Gibson, does most of the cooking in their house these days because he’s a “take-charge kind of man”.
She said: “Percy likes to cook, as he’s a very take-charge kind of man.
“He didn’t cook so much when we first met but I started to show him a few of my signature dishes like my special spaghetti Bolognese. He’d offer to cut the meat and veg – because he’s bossy, so I said, ‘You know what, I’m off to watch the telly.’ I raised three children so of course I can cook.”

Dior ‘indefinitely postpones’ Travis Scott and Kim Jones capsule collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Dior has “indefinitely postponed” Travis Scott and Kim Jones’ Cactus Jack capsule collection.
The French luxury fashion house has made the decision to pull the pieces from the collaboration between the hip-hop star and its men’s artistic director intended for Summer 2022, out of respect for the 10 people who tragically died from compression asphyxia at Travis’ Astroworld Festival last month.
A statement from Dior issued to WWD read: “Out of respect for everyone affected by the tragic events at Astroworld, Dior has decided to postpone indefinitely the launch of products from the Cactus Jack collaboration originally intended to be included in its summer 2022 collection.”
Compression asphyxia occurs when respiration is prevented due to external pressure on the body and is usually caused by force compressing the chest and abdomen.
Nine people – Jacob Jurinek, 21, John Hilgert, 14, Brianna Rodriguez, 16, Franco Patiño, 21, Axel Acosta, 21, Rudy Peña, 23, Madison Dubiski, 23, Danish Baig, 27, and Bharti Shahani, 22 – were initially confirmed to have died after the crowd “began to compress” to the front of the stage during Travis’ set.
Over a week later, a nine-year-old boy named Ezra Blount also passed away as a result of his injuries sustained during the surge after spending several days in a medically induced coma.
Following the tragedy, the families of several victims have pursued legal action against Travis, as well as Live Nation, the company who organised the event.
Last month, 282 victims of the concert filed a $2 billion lawsuit against Scott, Drake, Live Nation, Apple Music and NRG Stadium — where the event was held — claiming they “cut corners, cut costs, and put attendees at risk”.
While a further 125 victims — including the family of 21-year-old Axel Acosta Avila who died in the incident — filed a $750 million lawsuit for loss of mental and physical health and loss of human life.
There was also a lawsuit from two concert security guards — Jackson Bush and his uncle Samuel Bush — who are seeking $1 million after claiming organisers of the event put “greed” before safety.
And the family of the tragedy’s second-youngest victim, 14-year-old John Hilgert, have also filed their own lawsuit against Travis, organisers Live Nation, and several others involved in the concert for $1 million, citing “gross negligence” and “reckless disregard” for people’s safety.
Travis – who offered to pay the funeral costs of the victims – has maintained that he didn’t know fans were in distress amid his performance.
The Dior postponement comes after the 30-year-old rapper’s CACTI hard seltzers were discontinued.
Anheuser-Busch announced they decided to end production on the spike seltzers, but declined to comment on whether the decision had anything to do with the Astroworld tragedy.
The US brewing firm’s statement read: “After careful evaluation, we have decided to stop all production and brand development of CACTI Agave Spiked Seltzer. We believe brand fans will understand and respect this decision.”

Tori Spelling turns pre-motherhood jeans into art collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Tori Spelling has turned her pre-motherhood skinny jeans into an “art collection”.
The 48-year-old star – who has Beau, four, Finn, nine, Hattie, 10, Stella, 13, and Liam, 14, with husband Dean McDermott – revealed all of her old size 24 jeans hang in her closet but no longer fit.
Speaking on MTV’s ‘Messyness’, she said: “I still have all my jeans [from] when I was tiny, before kids.
“Because it breaks my heart because they were like 24s, which will never ever fit even my calves anymore. Like, I have five kids. So, I just keep them, they’re like an art collection now.”
Meanwhile, the mother-of-five revealed earlier this month that she is getting “moderate” breast implants.
The former ‘90210’ star admitted her 20-year-old implants had “expired”, and she wants her breasts to have a “more conservative” look this time around.
She said: “[The consultant] was showing me two different kinds and he was like ‘Do you want higher profile or moderate profile?’ I wanted to be able to dress sexy but I want to be able to dress conservative and not be like, all boobs. [So I’m getting] moderate.”
The actress was surprised to learn in the consultation that her breasts were bigger than she initially thought, but put this down to becoming a mother and revealed she is opting for implants that will “fill out” more when she goes for the surgery in February 2022.
She added: “I told him I was a 32C and he said ‘Those are Ds!’, but I protested. I said, ‘Absolutely not!’ and then I was like ‘Well, I have had kids and gained weight. So okay, fine’.
“The sizing I’m getting is a little bit bigger but it won’t look it because [it will be] wider. So they will actually look smaller but will fill out more.”

Twiggy: I’d have a very slight facelift

OHMYGOSSIP — Twiggy is open to getting a “slight facelift” but the idea scares her.
The 72-year-old model insists there are some cosmetic treatments she’d never have – and although she’s a fan of “subtle” work, she isn’t sure she could go through with any operation because of her phobia of needles.
Twiggy told Good Housekeeping magazine: “I’d never have fillers or Botox and I don’t understand this obsession with huge lips.
“If I ever did anything, I’d have a very slight facelift. I know a few people who’ve had it done very subtly and it’s worked for them.
“But I haven’t done it yet – mainly because I’m too scared. I hate needles or anything like that.”
Twiggy wouldn’t even get a tattoo because she “nearly fainted” just getting her ears pierced.
Asked if she would get a tattoo, the iconic model replied: “Oh no. When I had my ears pierced, I nearly fainted.
“I was in my early 30s at the time and I remember the needle going in and somebody shouting, ‘Catch her!’.
“I don’t think I’m quite cut out for a tattoo.”
Meanwhile, the fashion icon – whose real name is Dame Lesley Lawson – has urged people to face their insecurities head on in order to overcome their issues and not spend too much time obsessing in front of the mirror.
She said: “I think everybody on the planet [has moments of insecurity], don’t they? My advice? Step away from the mirror immediately.

Season 2 of Emily in Paris will feature more ‘Parisian beauty trends’

OHMYGOSSIP — The second season of ‘Emily in Paris’ will feature more “Parisian beauty trends.”
The Netflix series – which stars Lily Collins as a Chicago-based marketing executive who lands her dream job in Paris – will see the title character sporting more traditionally Parisian fashion trends for the new season, which premieres on 22.12.2021.
Odile Fourquin, hair and makeup supervisor on the show, said: “[We are] leaning into Parisian magnificence traits for this season. [Look out for] diamonds on Emily’s hair for the Versailles fashion show.”
The makeup artist then went on to explain that ideas for looks on the show are inspired by icons of Hollywood’s Golden Age – such as Audrey Hepburn – but designers also turn to social media platforms such as Instagram for style innovation.
She told PopSugar: “We get inspiration for all the cast from a lot of supports: magazines, fashion shows, and a lot from Instagram. For Emily specifically, we pulled inspiration from Old Hollywood actresses Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot.”
The revelations on the show’s hair and makeup come soon after Lily herself gushed about the department’s ability to create “individual styles” for herself and her fellow cast members.
She told People: “The collaboration between them and each actor is so amazing. This season, we could go into the wardrobe and go, ‘Oh, that’s for Samuel [Arnold]. Well, that’s for Camille [Razat], that’s for Ashley [Park], that’s for me’. We all have such individual styles. It’s really hard to create a show where every single character has
their own look and aesthetic, and to have it be such a heightened sense of fashion for season two, I was like ‘Oh my God, how do you guys do this?'”

To pack that bra and that skirt that was emulating like a mariachi hat, I had to have a whole suitcase just for that look when I was traveling to Europe back then with that “Amor a La Mexicana” song. I was always nervous that it was going to get stuck in customs because it was a big suitcase. Laura Mulleavy: Creating costumes for Sing 2 was an ’emotional and uphill battle’

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Mulleavy has said that creating costumes for ‘Sing 2′ was an “emotional and uphill battle.
The 41-year-old fashion designer – who along with her sister Kate, 42, founded the fashion label Rodarte in 2005 – before turning to filmmaking – designed the costumes for the musical animation and has explained their approach to taking on cartoon fashion.
She said: “I think we approach designing for animation in the same way we approach designing (for our label). Similar to how we worked on’ Black Swan’ and even our own film ‘Woodshock’, we took the script and the narrative of the story and said this is how you shape the emotional journey of the character with clothing and to support the performances.
“There’s an emotional uphill battle for all of them, individually and collectively, and what we wanted to do was take their individual stories and personalities and reflect that within the clothes they are wearing for their final performances.”
‘Sing 2’ is set to be released in the UK early next year and sees a cast of animals voiced by the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson lend their voices to hits made famous by stars such as Elton John and Billie Eilish.
In a joint interview, Laura’s sister Kate went on to compare their work on ‘Sing 2’ to their designs for Natalie Portman film ‘Black Swan’, claiming that they both felt “more free” with this movie.
She told The AU Review: “If I compare our work on Black Swan to this, there’s a difference in the physical tangibility of an actor or a dancer having to get into a tutu to perform. There were some interesting things that we did on that (Black Swan) that were more about privileging the viewers eyes. I think in this instance (for Sing 2) we felt a little more free, in the sense that we were trying to make things as real as possible. You’re really aware of the movement. In that sense the costumes have to feel real, but I don’t think you’re limited in the same way. You want them to move correctly.”

Michelle Phan urges beauty influencers to be honest about using filters

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Phan has urged beauty influencers on YouTube to be honest about when they use filters.
The 34-year-old makeup artist – who amassed a following of almost 9 million by sharing beauty tutorial videos before founding the multimillion dollar cosmetics line EM Cosmetics – thinks that YouTubers should notify viewers that their appearance has been altered by a filter.
She said: “I’ve been trying to get back on YouTube, but I’m not using any beauty filters on my recent videos. I even have a disclaimer saying I don’t use it. I would say 100% of beauty YouTubers [use filters], unless they make a disclaimer. I know Katie Jane Hughes doesn’t use any beauty filters, which is great. It’s super refreshing. But most, if not all of them, use beauty filters. It’s subtle, but you can see it. I know the ones who are using them, which can look really natural.
“We can try to at least normalize, or even let people know, Hey, I’m using a beauty filter.”
The businesswoman then went on to claim that using a disclaimer could make the “biggest difference” for anyone feeling self-conscious when they watch a beauty video, reminding fans that how someone looks in a video is not true to life.
She told Glamour: “Something as small as that can make the biggest difference for people who feel really self-conscious. How you look on camera is not actually how you look in real life. There are certain lenses that literally distort your face and make you look weird. There are lenses that can flatter you and make you look like you, but they’re super expensive. There’s a reason why cinema lenses cost more than our camera lenses. Ours are cheaper, and it’s very wide-angle and distorts your face. A lot of people think they look ugly when they’re not ugly. They look good. How you see yourself in the mirror is how you actually look. Camera lens, it’s hard for them to translate that look in the mirror.”
