Phoebe Bridgers feared she’d fall in Met Gala shoes

OHMYGOSSIP — Phoebe Bridgers was terrified she’d fall over at the Met Gala.
The 27-year-old singer was among the guests at the fashion extravaganza on Monday (02.05.22) night and she admitted she was nervous about walking the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York because she is so unaccustomed to wearing high heels.
Speaking ahead of the event, she told Interview magazine: “This is the first time in – I’m not kidding you – five years that I’ve worn high heels. So yeah, I’m nervous about those steps. I keep telling myself that, if I fall, it’ll be infamous at the very least. The dress is beautiful, so I’ll go down in a blaze of glory.
“I probably should have [practiced moving around].”
The ‘Smoke Signals’ singer wore a crystal-encrusted Jonathan Simkhai gown to the gala and having something custom made for her was a huge confidence boost.
She said: “It’s just incredible to wear something made for you. So often when you go into a dressing room and try something on, you feel like s*** and it’s so unflattering. But having a team of people make something so beautiful, it’s like the best confidence boost ever. ”
The dress code for the evening was ‘Gilded Glamour’ and both Phoebe and designer Jonathan were happy with how her outfit fitted the brief.
Asked to describe the dress in just three words, Jonathan said: “Gilded, for sure. We followed the assignment. Sculpted, and dazzling.”
Phoebe added: “It’s elegant and punk at the same time, which is why I love it so much. I need one other word that’s not too obvious. Let’s say encrusted.”

Venus Williams takes precautions against the sun

OHMYGOSSIP — Venus Williams started using sunscreen because she “didn’t want to become a raisin”.
The 41-year-old tennis legend has always tried to take care of her skin but it wasn’t until later in her life that she realised that should also include taking precautions against sun damage.
She said: “My mom taught me from a young age the importance of taking care of my skin…[but] it took me a while to fully understand the importance of sunscreen.
“It wasn’t until I was in my mid-30’s when I noticed [my sister] Serena practicing in long sleeves, a hat and sunscreen that it clicked for me that I should be protecting my skin too – I didn’t want to become a raisin!
“[Sunscreen now] has become the most important step in my beauty routine.”
The sporting legend also believes in the importance of sleep.
She told People magazine: “One thing I definitely prioritise is sleep! It’s something I never compromise on whether I’m home in my own bed or traveling all over the globe. Sleep is so important to keep you looking good and feeling better. “I’m serious about [it]!”
Venus is expanding her partnership with Credo Beauty to release two new sunscreens, Game. Set. Match. Body Lotion with SPF 50 and Ace The Day Face Lotion with SPF 30, which will both be released this summer.

“It’s something I’m passionate about and it’s important to me to work with a company that feels the same way.”
Venus first teamed up with the company in 2020 and has learned a lot about the beauty industry since then.

Elizabeth Olsen feels awkward on red carpet

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Olsen doesn’t know how to “look cool” on the red carpet.
The ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ actress doesn’t enjoy being photographed at high profile events because she never knows how to look at ease when posing for pictures or the right way to stand to show off her glamorous outfits.
She admitted: “It’s kind of fussy. I don’t really know how to pose for a picture, so I’m always standing like a stick person or I’m kind of moving my body through space awkwardly because I don’t know how to make clothes look cool on a red carpet.”
When Elizabeth was nominated for an Emmy award for her work on ‘WandaVision’ last year, she wore a white dress designed by her sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and she admitted it helped her to feel more confident.
She told Harper’s Bazaar UK magazine: “There’s something about it that feels like women holding hands and family standing together or something.
“I just love clothes that make me feel confident and strong. It’s like armour.
Elizabeth – who is in a relationship with Robbie Arnett – tries to avoid events that aren’t directly connected to her work “even though they could be potentially good for [her] career”.
She added: “I just don’t feel comfortable in those situations, so, I don’t put myself in them.”
The 33-year-old star used Instagram between 2017 and 2020 but has since deleted the app because she doesn’t feel comfortable with the “influence” she has as a public figure.
She said: “I thought, ‘What am I trying to say? What am I trying to share?’ You have this influence, and there’s financial power in that kind of influence. That didn’t make me feel great.”

Gwen Stefani did own Met Gala make-up

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani had to do her own make-up for the Met Gala.
The 52-year-old singer – who walked the red carpet at fashion’s biggest night on Monday (02.05.22) in a neon green two-piece ball gown – admitted it was both “stressful” and “a lot of fun” applying her own cosmetics after the expert she’d hired pulled out at the last minute due to an “emergency”.
Speaking on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, she told La La Anthony for Vogue’s live stream: “Honestly, I had a crazy day because I was supposed to work with a new makeup artist…and she had an emergency and she had to leave so I had to do my own make-up!
“I had a lot of fun doing it today and it was stressful too but in a good way. I was like, ‘Alright, I got this.’”
Gwen was happy to join Vera Wang at the event after the designer created her wedding gown for her nuptials to Blake Shelton last July.
She said: “Vera called me to see if I wanted to come and be her date and of course I wanted to. The thing is she did my wedding dress, I got married this year so I just felt like it was appropriate that I come to the ball and celebrate that …And all of the sudden we’re in neon!
“It feels happy and I think everybody wants to feel a little bit happy.”
The blonde beauty admitted she enjoys getting ready for the event more than being at the gala.
She said: “I feel like I already did the fun part, which is getting all ready. That’s always my favorite thing. It’s like ‘What’s the dress gonna be like?’
“And the fantasy of that and talking with the designer and figuring out what the nails, the hair and make-up [are going to be.]”

Dove Cameron’s Met Gala dress took 600 hours to make

OHMYGOSSIP — Dove Cameron’s Met Gala dress took 600 hours to make.
The 26-year-old singer-and-actress turned heads on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (02.05.22) evening thanks to her unique white Iris Van Herpen creation, which was inspired by cosmic structures of spiral nebulas and was made from recycled mylar.
Dove loved the way the gown – which incorporated a high neck, structured tassels, boning, and cut out detailing and was reinforced by a delicate laser-cut metal structure – fitted the Gilded Glamour dress code and allowed her to show a lot of skin.
She said: “Just as much as there is of dress, you are also seeing of me. It’s a lot of body.”
“It plays into the theme of ‘Gilded Age’ in the way that it’s incredibly structured, all about shape, but it’s also honouring Iris’s unique vision.”
The Descendants’ star had been a big fan of the designer for some time, and recalled sending an image of Iris’ creation for Grimes at last year’s Met Gala to her publicist.
She wrote: “How does Iris create like this? It’s so otherworldly. It’s so alien.”
In recent years, Dove has shifted her career closer to music, dramatically changed her hair, and come out as queer, and she explained they were all inflection points symbolised in her gown.
She told the New York Times newspaper: “At this moment in time for me, with my music and with this rebirth I’ve been having, Iris, as a creative, and I are very matched.
“I’ve been able to live my life a little more out loud.
“I’ve shed some of my fear, and I’ve kind of created my own little world for myself as a human and as an artist.
“This dress represents that. It’s not hiding anything, it’s very bold, it’s very transformative.”
2022 marked the first time Dove has attended the Met Gala, which had the theme ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’.

She told ‘Live From E!’ on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art: “This is Oscar de la Renta. I’m just kind of channelling a little Jackie Kennedy tonight.
“I wanted to do something glamorous and chic – and easy.”

She said: “We had a ball. It’s a process and there’s a lot of us.”
And Kris couldn’t wait to see her family arrive.
She said: “All five of my daughters will be on the carpet tonight, so I’m gonna get to the top [of the stairs] and just watch them walk in, which I love to do.”
While four of Kris’ children have attended the fashion fundraiser in the past, 2022 marked the first time Khloe had attended and the Good American founder – who wore a gold creation by Jeremy Scott – admitted it was “scary” to be there but she was glad to have the support of her family around her.
She told Vogue: “It’s a much shorter carpet than I thought … it’s so scary but it’s fabulous. I’m so excited to be here.
“I’m so excited that we’re all here together … Kourt and Trav are right behind us, my mom, and I think Kendall and Kylie just ran in. It’s going to be a fun night.

Maria Grazia Chirui: The value of fashion is underestimated

OHMYGOSSIP — Maria Grazia Chirui thinks that the value of fashion is “underestimated.”
The 58-year-old fashionista – who currently serves as director of beauty brand Dior – designed the costumes for Italian period film ‘Nuit Romaine’ and explained that fashion can reflect an “evolution of humanity.”
She said: “Clothes reflect a historical period and the evolution of humanity and our bodies. The value of fashion and clothes is underestimated. Clothes say a lot about us and they have deep meanings. As do colors: think about red and how it conveys power. I am interested not only in fashion, but in the history of fashion and the evolution of clothes. As a feminist, I believe the lives of women have been conditioned through clothes, when they couldn’t walk or leave the home because they were so cumbersome.”
Maria – who worked at Fendi and then spent seventeen years at Valentino before being named creative director at Dior – then went on to claim that while there are “many women” working in her profession, it can be difficult for them to progress to the top of their field and that women must “always push” to have a voice.
She told WWD: “You can never lower your guard and must always push to have a voice and fight for your rights. There are many women working in fashion, but it’s very complex to get to the top as it is in other sectors. We must insist and make it easier for the new generations to have more access to the pivotal spots.”

ABBA collaborate with Dolce and Gabbana to design avatar outfits for hologram show

OHMYGOSSIP — ABBA have collaborated with Dolce and Gabbana on designer outfits for their digital avatars.

And now, it’s been revealed that the four band members’ digital likenesses will be kitted out in pieces by the iconic Italian luxury fashion house.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Dolce and Gabbana got on board really early on in the process and this has been years in the making.
“It is one of a handful of designers who worked on the costumes, which were stitched together before being digitised by the experts at Industrial Light and Magic, who are behind the shows.
“It was really important that every thread moves on stage as it would do if it was being worn by a real person, so the meticulous process has taken ages, but the results are incredible.”
The futuristic ‘ABBA Voyage’ shows kick off at the specially-built ABBA Arena in London on May 27, and will run until December.
The ‘Dancing Queen’ hitmakers are trying to “integrate” both the physical and the digital world.
Bjorn said recently: “What I like is the fact that not only are we pushing boundaries in the digital world, but we’re trying to integrate the physical and the digital world in a way that is immersive.”

However, they haven’t performed on stage together since 1982.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gal Gadot is “honoured” to be the face of Tiffany Co.’s Blue Book collection.

She told the Hollywood Reporter: “This was one of my favourite campaigns to shoot
“I’ve never seen anything quite as stunning as the Botanica Dandelion necklace we shot. Tiffany’s diamonds and craftsmanship are truly unparalleled.
“It’s such an honour to be included in this Tiffany campaign. The pieces I am wearing from the 2022 Blue Book collection Botanica are some of my favorites, as they are inspired by the most beautiful flowers: the dandelion and orchid.”
Gal – who wore a Blue Book necklace to the 2021 Golden Globe Awards and a re-creation of the famous Tiffany Diamond for her role in ‘Death on the Nile’ – is “more than a house ambassador” to Tiffany.
Alexandre Arnault, executive vice president of product and communication for Tiffany Co., said in a statement: “Gal Gadot is more than a house ambassador. She epitomises the effortless glamour, sheer sophistication and sense of modernity that Blue Book represents.
“We are thrilled that she is the face of the new Botanica campaign.”

She said: “I’m not the type of girl to do beauty competitions. But I had some time before my military service, and I was like, “That’s going to be nice to tell my grandkids that Grandma competed in Miss Israel.” And then I won. I was like, “Holy s**t. Now what?” I didn’t want to win. I never thought I would.”
The ‘Fast Furious’ star then went on to explain that sudden fame as a result of winning the pageant became “too much”, quipping that “didn’t try to impress” or “play by the book” when it came to competing in the Miss Universe follow-up competition.
She added: “I was so naïve. I was only 18, and to become a celebrity and have paparazzi around, it was too much for me. When they sent me to Miss Universe, I said, “Never again. I’m not even taking chances.” And they go, “You have to wear evening gowns for breakfast.” It was so ridiculous; I didn’t play by the book. I just did my thing, and I didn’t try to impress them. I was like, “English, no. Me no speak. Very hard language.” And then I didn’t make the first cut!”

Sarah Jessica Parker: Retail can be terrifying

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jessica Parker admitted having a retail business is “terrifying”.
The ‘Sex and the City’ actress launched her SJP shoe firm with an outlet in New York in 2014 and she admitted the last few years in particular, which have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, have been “hugely challenging”.
She said: “Retail is really hard. It’s terrifying, especially the last couple of years, it’s been hugely challenging.”
Although her e-commerce division – which started three years ago – is “the biggest part of the pie”, Sarah won’t consider getting rid of physical premises because she loves the customer interaction.
Speaking to ‘Retail in America’ podcast host Ron Thurston on Friday (22.04.22), she said: “For me as an actor, you don’t have the opportunities to talk to your audience. [Selling on the floor] is the oxygen. We all really love it.”
She explained how she can learn what customers want rather than what they need from talking to them, as well as getting an idea of their competition.
She said: “You learn that by being on the floor just by sharing stories and seeing their feet. It’s been for sure the most joyous part of the work…
“It’s an old-fashioned way of engaging with people. It’s immediate satisfaction, even if you don’t make a sale,” said Parker.
The 57-year-old star felt a responsibility to stay open during the pandemic.
She noted: “People kept buying our shoes even though they had nowhere to go.”
An audience member asked Sarah which shoe made her realise she’d made it and she said it was the Fawn, a classic low-heeled pump.
She said: “It’s allowed us to tell who we are.…It’s beautifully made, incredibly comfortable and some might argue it’s the most comfortable pump. We offer it in exquisite, really saturated colours. Our customer keeps coming back for more. That kind of satisfaction, it’s what we need to pay the bills.”

Paloma Faith unwinds with a hot bath

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith loves to relax with a hot bath.
The 40-year-old singer – who has two children with her French artist partner Leyman Lahcine – admitted one of her favourite ways to unwind before bed is with a soak in the tub surrounded by familiar scents.
She said: “I love baths. I really like the smell of frankincense and Palo Santo. They’re quite Catholic smells. I’m a lapsed Catholic, but those smells relax me. I’ll normally be ready for sleep by 11pm.”
Paloma has cut down on drinking because it no longer feels “worth it” and she’d rather parent her kids without a hangover.
She told Observer magazine: “I used to drink on a Saturday night, but I’ve started not to, as it just doesn’t feel worth it any more and I don’t want my kids to think I don’t like them.”
The ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ hitmaker admitted her lazy Sunday mornings have changed a lot since she had her children.
She said: “[In the past] some days I wouldn’t get up until 1pm. I used to work in bars, so all the bar workers went out from 3am until 7am. I don’t know whether I look back wistfully, but it would be nice to just wake up naturally…
“My children wake me up about 7am, even though every bone in my body is saying, ‘It’s Sunday. You’re meant to sleep in until at least nine.’
“On Sundays we have a rule where we all just get into bed together. My five year old really loves breakfast in bed, but the one year old can’t yet as it would just destroy the bed. I like to cook crêpes on Sundays. My little one likes chocolate spread, the baby has some purée – and I have the leftover scraps.”
