Halle Berry's typecast fear

OHMYGOSSIP — Halle Berry didn’t want to play “the gorgeous girl” when she first started out in the film industry.
The ‘Extant’ star came from a modelling background and was desperate not to be cast in movies solely on her looks.
She said: “I didn’t want to play the gorgeous girl. I came from the world of beauty pageants and modelling and right away when people heard that I got discounted as an actor.
“I took on roles early on that really didn’t rely on my physical self at all and that was a good way to sort of get some credibility within my industry.”
In fact, the 50-year-old actress had a hard time convincing Spike Lee to cast her as a “crack ho” in his movie ‘Jungle Fever’.
She added: “Spike Lee wanted me to read for the part of his wife and I read that part fine enough, but then I said to Spike, ‘You know I really am eyeing this crack ho role, can you please let me audition for that?’ And he said, ‘No, no I don’t see you as the crack ho.'”
However after a little convincing, Spike did cast Halle and she admits it was a “major” thing for her.
She shared: “And it was an amazing way to start my career, playing a crack ho being directed by Spike Lee. It was major for me.”
Meanwhile, Halle also admitted she struggled to get an audition for ‘Monster’s Ball’.
She told W magazine: “[Director] Lee Daniels didn’t want to see me read. He was actually disgusted by the thought. He thought there’s no way and my argument to him was, just because someone looks a certain way doesn’t mean that they are spared adversity.
“I thought, ‘My looks haven’t spared me one hardship or one hurt moment or one painful situation. So please, you know, give me a shot at this.'”

Paris Hilton too busy for love

OHMYGOSSIP — Paris Hilton doesn’t have time for a relationship.
The 35-year-old star insists there is no time for a man in her life but would love to settle down one day.
She said: “I’m so busy with my work that I don’t even have time for a relationship or even myself.
“I would love to find someone one day that I could trust to have a family with, but I don’t know. In my line of work, it’s very hard to do that.”
And whilst Paris spends half her year in Ibiza on the decks, she doesn’t think she’ll meet a suitable boyfriend there.
She told The TODAY Show: “That’s the last place I wanna find love [but] it’s incredible, it’s so much fun to DJ. Just being out there on stage, the energy. Amnesia is the most legendary club in the world, so it’s a huge honour to be playing there.”
Meanwhile, Paris previously admitted she is too worried about stalkers to think about trying online dating.
Asked if she’s looked for love online, she said: “No, I never have. I would be too scared of stalkers. I’ve heard some crazy stories from my friends!”
However, that hasn’t stopped her from running her own social media accounts.
She added: “Yes I do own my social media, definitely. I think it’s important to talk to my fans myself. I do have a team member to help me post things I want, but I mostly Snapchat, tweet and post on Instagram myself. I love how social media means I can connect with my fans more personally and show them my life and hear their stories.
“But I don’t pay attention to the comments online … There have been so many weird lies written about me, but one of the weirdest was when they wrote that I dated Michael Jackson.”

Jennifer Lawrence: I'm still close to ex Nicholas Hoult

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence is still “very close” to her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Hoult.
The ‘Hunger Games’ star insists she is still good friends with the ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ actor despite the fact they split in 2014 after three years of on/off dating.
She told Yahoo7 Be: “We’re all very close at this point. For me, Michael [Fassbender], James [McAvoy], and Nick [Hoult], it’s our third [X-Men] movie over five or six years, so we’re all so comfortable with each other. On the last film, there were BB gun battles, but on this one, it was slightly tamer.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old actress previously admitted she can’t help but be attracted to guys who try and “impress” her.
She said: “It’s not a sad thing to be alone. I think what I was trying to get across was that I don’t feel a lack of something not being in a relationship. I don’t feel like there is a hole to be filled … An emotional hole to be filled …
“You know, I’m 25. I’m successful. But I’m a girl. So I’m still always going to be attracted to somebody who impresses me.”
And David O. Russell, who directed Jennifer in ‘Joy’, also claimed how the actress’ “power” makes it difficult for her to find a relationship.
He added: “It’s the contradiction. You yourself are powerful, but you want to be with somebody who is also powerful that you can look up to. But to find someone who can do that but also respect your power and not be threatened by it, that takes a very special thing.”

Hilaria Baldwin shows off post-baby body

OHMYGOSSIP — Hilaria Baldwin has showed off her post-baby body less than 24 hours after her son was born.
The 32-year-old brunette has posted a picture of her in her underwear less than a day after she welcomed her and Alec Baldwin’s third child, Leonardo.
Captioning the picture on Instagram, she wrote: “I took this yesterday when Leonardo was about 24 hours old. I did the same thing right after Rafael was born. It always makes me a bit nervous to do something like this, but I feel that in the age of such strong body shaming, I want to do all that I can to normalise a real body and promote healthy self esteem.
“Many of you know that I love to show the process of life’s experiences on the body and I am a firm believer in how a good diet and the right balance of exercise make us happy, healthy, and strong. So from here on, I want to dedicate the majority of my #366daysoflivingclearly #hilarialcm daily posts to getting back in shape and I invite you to do it with me. (sic)”
And the mother-of-three – who also has Carmen, three, and 14-month-old Rafael with her husband – answered a few questions about her pregnancy whilst insisting she didn’t use any kind of filter on the picture.
She added: “Common questions last time were: Did I have a c section?: No, I pushed him out … Where are all the pads for bleeding?: I took them out briefly to snap this pic as there is a limit to how much you need to see … Where am I?: in the hospital room bathroom #glamour … Oh, and no filter. Just brightened it up a bit. (sic)”

Iggy Azalea: I have no connection with Australia anymore

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Azalea doesn’t have a “home connection” to Australia anymore.
The ‘Black Widow’ hitmaker – who was born in Sydney and grew up in Mullumbimby – sees America as her home now but enjoys returning to her birth country from time to time.
She said: “I mean, to be honest with you, my home is in America. I’ve lived there for a decade, that’s where I live. It’s great to come back and visit my grandparents, but there is no home connection. It would be like you going home to where you lived when you were nine, I kind of don’t associate with that anymore.”
And the 26-year-old singer is “proud” of the success she has achieved.
She added to Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper: “To be the best, you want to compete with the best. The people I saw back then who I saw in the charts, who were at the top of our charts, were American.
“I am proud, but I think anybody would be proud of the success that I’ve had, whether they come from a big city or a small town. It’s tough, no matter what.”
Meanwhile, Iggy recently spent a month in Australia following her split from Nick Young.
She said previously: “I hope it will be a bit of a summer getaway and I can work too. It will be summer so hopefully I can get out and chill and show everybody that is coming with me the good food and the beach and play some tennis and ride horses. Spending a month in Australia is the longest I will have spent there in literally like 10 years.”

Kris Jenner wants more privacy

OHMYGOSSIP — Kris Jenner wishes her life was “a little more private” sometimes.
The 60-year-old star is constantly being filmed for her family’s reality show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ and whilst she sometimes longs for more privacy, she cannot believe how “many incredible opportunities” the show has given them.
She said: “We’ve been doing the show for nearly a decade, and since the show started we’ve opened up our homes to everyone and invited people into our lives, which means showing you the good along with the bad.
“As people got to know us through years of watching the show, we found that it wasn’t really possible, nor would it be authentic to who we are and what the show is all about, if we tried to keep things from being filmed.
“There are moments that you wish could be a little more private, but the show has opened up so many doors to so many incredible opportunities, and I wouldn’t change that for anything.”
Despite working incredibly hard, Kris always tries to finish at 5pm each day so she can spend more time with her family and friends.
Speaking to the new issue of Paper magazine, she added: “Some days that is more successful than others! I’m so lucky that my kids all live nearby so we are always spending a lot of time together.
“I love to have family dinners, barbecues or movie nights with my grandkids. A lot of the time we’re all moving at a million miles a minute, so it’s important to slow down, relax and enjoy the greatest pleasures in life: my wonderful friends, my amazing children and my beautiful grandkids.”

Renee Zellweger's educational break

OHMYGOSSIP — Renee Zellweger went back to school when she took a hiatus from Hollywood.
The ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ star has revealed she took some college classes during her four-year break from acting in 2010.
She told Live! With Kelly: “I went back to school … to study something that I’m fascinated with, as a pedestrian, plebeian observer, and I just wanted to see if I had an aptitude with it, so I went and took … some classes in college.
“It was great, I got to know my classmates really well. We had lots of fantastic conversations, and I had to study, and that was really interesting, because I wasn’t sure if my brain was gonna hold that information at this stage in my life!”
Meanwhile, the 47-year-old actress previously insisted she “learned a lot” during her break.
She said: “I learned a lot (on my break). And I think I grew a lot and I think it’s important if you’re in this business, if you want to be a storyteller, you have to have the experiences to draw from and I needed to go ahead and have a little life that didn’t have something to do with a character that I was playing or researching, you know.”
Talking about her decision to go on hiatus from Hollywood, she added: “I just wanted to shift my focus a little bit and keep some promises that I had made to myself a long time ago. There are some things that I wanted to learn and see if I had aptitude for. I wanted to go back to school I wanted to do things that you can’t really make time for when you’re in the cycle of making films … I had to just commit to breaking that cycle for a little bit so that I could grow as a person. I was boring myself, you know. I’m really lucky with the people that I work with, we are like minded but it was time.”

Iggy Azalea: Social media is 'mentally exhausting'

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Azalea finds social media “mentally exhausting”.
The ‘Fancy’ hitmaker admits there are some days when she refuses to log onto the likes of Twitter because she wants to enjoy her life rather than share it.
She told Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper: “It’s mentally exhausting. Some days I interact with it more than other days. It’s not necessarily that I feel sad so I don’t want to go on there, but sometimes I will be just enjoying my own life, and I don’t feel like I need to share it … It was a crash course. It is what it is, I just accept it.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old singer previously admitted she wants to “crawl into a cave” sometimes.
She shared: “Some days I want to crawl into a cave because I don’t feel confident at all, and then other days I feel great. I think it’s like that for all human beings, not just young women. I think being confident 100 percent every day is something to aspire to, but I don’t think it’s humanly possibly for anybody.”
Iggy regularly recruits her Twitter followers to help with various tasks and recently asked them to name the three ducks she found in her swimming pool.
She shared on Twitter: “i came home and they were still here and jelli and space jam havent eaten them yet …
I need to name my Ducks. There are 2 boys & a girl. I was gonna call them Bernie, Hilary and Trump but i dont wanna do the last Duck dirty …
“They’re back and they brought a girlfriend! Im trying to make friends. I dont use it, they are welcome to hang out if they would like. They’re here again, listen. Clearly they are my pets and I need to name them. (sic)”

Ryan Gosling: My family make me a 'better man'

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling’s family make him a “better man”.
The ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ star credits his long-term partner Eva Mendes, their two-year-old daughter Esmerelda and their four-month-old daughter Amada for picking him up when he’s down.
Speaking to Us Weekly magazine at the Toronto International Film Festival, he said: “All of them are doing amazing. I’m a lucky man – they really make me better.”
And the 35-year-old actor previously revealed he is having the “happiest time” of his life at the moment.
He said: “They’re angels. It’s the happiest time in my life.”
Meanwhile, Eva, 42, recently revealed her eldest daughter is her “moral compass.”
She said: “I love being an example to somebody. If I’m even like, ‘Oh, what should I wear? Or, should I do this project?’ All I have to think about is my daughter and her face and I know the answer immediately. I guess she’s my moral compass in a way. It’s just beautiful to be an example for her.
The couple don’t rely on a nanny to raise their children and split the parental duties equally between mother and father.
Eva added: “I mean, that’s a given these days! I don’t think that’s a plus anymore. It better not be fathers out there.”

Calvin Harris 'in a much better place'

OHMYGOSSIP — Calvin Harris is in a “much better place” now he is single.
The ‘This Is What You Came For’ hitmaker recently split from Taylor Swift but is feeling positive about the future.
A source told E! News: “He is single. He is dating a few different women. Nothing has stuck. He is not looking for a relationship at all, just fun times with friends. He is in a much better place after the breakup with Taylor.
“He is not surprised that the relationship did not work with Tom and Taylor. He is just happy to not be in the relationship anymore and realised they were not a good fit in the end, but he wishes her the best!”
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old DJ previously admitted “all hell broke loose” when he split from Taylor.
He shared: “It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicised than the relationship itself. When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense. I’m not good at being a celebrity.
“But when it ended, all hell broke loose. Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure. It took me a minute to realise that none of that matters. I’m a positive guy. For both of us it was the wrong situation. It clearly wasn’t right, so it ended, but all of the stuff that happened afterwards.”

Sarah Jessica Parker praises Kim Kardashian West

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jessica Parker thinks Kim Kardashian West is “lovely”.
The 51-year-old actress and her 13-year-old son James Wilkie recently met the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star backstage at her husband Kanye West’s gig, and she was very impressed by how “gracious” and “hospitable” the couple were.
Sarah said: “She was lovely. My son is a huge Kanye fan and they were really gracious and allowed him time with Kanye and that was in large part Kim’s doing.
“There was a focus that I witnessed, not just with my son – whom she gave a lot of time to – but with everyone in the room. She was never looking over her shoulder, she was hospitable and lovely.
“It was so cool to watch her with my phone – she took my phone and was like, ‘Let me shoot this whole thing’ and she shot the whole conversation with Kanye and my son, which was so sweet.”
The former ‘Sex and the City’ star – who also has twins Tabitha and Loretta, seven, with husband Matthew Broderick – insists she has never thought of herself as a “style icon”, so has no idea if Kim is one too, though she recognised the 35-year-old beauty has a lot of “influence”.
She told MailOnline: “I don’t know what icon means anymore.
“I don’t think of myself as a style icon. I think Kim obviously has enormous influence and she is more and more aware of what she wants and the images that she chooses to project, which she is in complete control of.
“I think she is a young woman who is evolving all the time and one shouldn’t make a decision about anybody. She is not baked and done – I’m not either – so let her experiment and delight in the choices she has to make and let’s be kind to one another and be good to one another.”

Renee Zellweger on hiding exhaustion

OHMYGOSSIP — Renee Zellweger regrets trying to hide her exhaustion.
The 47-year-old actress took a break from acting in 2010 after appearing in ‘My Own Love Song’ and has admitted she took “bad advice” on how to deal with her growing fatigue caused by her hectic work schedule and being thrust into the limelight.
She admitted: “My personal life had taken a back seat to fulfilling my professional obligations.
“I felt a responsibility not to let people down. And so I just kept going.
“And there wasn’t a reason not to. I didn’t have children or an established relationship that dictated I make different choices.
“And because of the choices I was making and the life that I was living, I had no time to develop that in my life.”
The ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby star – who has been in a relationship with rocker Doyle Bramhall II since 2012 – has also hinted that she would like to settle down within the next 10 years as she doesn’t see herself being the same person further down the line.
She told People magazine: “I don’t want to be this person 10 years from now. I’d like to become more of who I’m supposed to be.”
Renee recently admitted she learned a lot from her break from Hollywood.
She said: “I learned a lot [on my break]. And I think I grew a lot and I think it’s important if you’re in this business, if you want to be a storyteller, you have to have the experiences to draw from and I needed to go ahead and have a little life that didn’t have something to do with a character that I was playing or researching, you know.”
Despite being main star of the ‘Bridget Jones’ franchise and an Oscar winner, Renee managed to enjoy her break from the limelight without being hassled by the public.
She revealed: “When you go away and you’re out of people’s consciousness, they stop noticing you. It’s fantastic, you order your coffee and you get a coffee and leave. It’s really nice because I’d meet people authentically, you’d have authentic conversations on the street and I enjoyed that, that’s something that I had missed.”

Ludacris in custody row

OHMYGOSSIP — Ludacris has accused his former partner of altering pictures of their daughter to make him look like an unfit father.
The 39-year-old star – who has primary custody of two-year-old Cai – faced an investigation from the DFCS (Division of Family and Children Services) after Tamika Fuller claimed she picked the little girl up from daycare in May and noticed “bruises and abrasions” on her face.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Tamika took Cai to hospital for emergency care, and a social worker recommended DFCS got involved, and she alleged the organisation wanted to keep the ‘Furious 7’ star away from the youngster.
However, Ludacris – whose real name is Chris Bridges – filed his own documents in response saying Tamika made up the whole story and even digitally edited images of the alleged injuries before submitting them to court. He also stated DFCS records would back up his version of events.
Tamika says the case has now been squashed, but insists Cai is only back in the ‘Money Maker’ hitmaker’s care because he used his wealth and fame to intimidate DFCS investigators.
Ludacris obtained custody of Cai in January 2001 after a judge ruled he was “the most fit and proper parent” to care for the little girl.
In a statement after the ruling, he said: “After review of all the evidence, the testimony of the witnesses, the report of the guardian ad litem, and the claims made throughout this entire case, I am gratified that the judge found me to be the most fit and proper parent to have primary physical custody of our beautiful daughter.”
Sources close to Tamika previously accused the rapper of only proposing to and marrying his longtime girlfriend Eudoxie Mbouguiyengue on the same day in December 2014 in a bid to show the Georgia court presiding over their custody case that he could provide a more stable home environment than her.
An insider also suggested he only wanted custody of Cai so he could avoid paying Tamika $7,000 in child support every month.
The little girl was born while Eudoxie and the ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ star – who has a 14-month-old daughter with his wife and 15-year-old Karma from a previous relationship – were on a break and sources revealed early last year that she decided to stand by him as she was eager to settle down.

Mandy Moore never expected divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Mandy Moore had moment of “being curled up in a ball on the floor” as she dealt with the end of her marriage.
The ‘This Is Us’ star never expected her union with rocker Ryan Adams would end in 2015 after six years, but had to make some “hard choices” in order to be happy and now she feels like she’s over the agony of the split.
She said: “My story deviated in a different direction than I expected.
“But ultimately, life is about being happy and fulfilled and sometimes that means making hard choices.
“There are moments of being curled up in a ball on the floor. It’s really hard. But I’ve moved on and progressed in the stages of grief and being angry and feeling the loss and all that. I do believe things happen for a reason. And I think I had that mantra moving through the trying times.”
After splitting from Ryan, 41, the 32-year-old beauty – who is now dating musician Taylor Goldsmith – realised her marriage had been holding her back from following her dreams.
She told People magazine: “I wasn’t a participant in my own life for awhile.
“I poured so much of myself into my personal life and when that wasn’t as fruitful as I hoped it would be and I extricated myself from that situation, I was able to realise I wasn’t honouring myself and my dreams and what I wanted in life.”
However, Mandy insists she wouldn’t change the past.
She said: “You couldn’t pay me to go back five or ten years ago. Having gone through trials and tribulations has brought me to this place today. I feel so much lighter. And I’m growing into the best version of myself.”
And the ‘Tangled’ star still has fond memories of her relationship with Ryan.
She said: “There was a period in my life when it was so beautiful. And I had this really fascinating person [through whom] I got to see a completely different perspective on the world.”

Leona Lewis confirms Cats departure

OHMYGOSSIP — Leona Lewis will leave ‘Cats’ next month.
The ‘Bleeding Love’ hitmaker has been portraying Grizabella in the iconic musical on Broadway since July 31, but she will perform the role on the New York stage for the last time on October 9.
She tweeted: “Wow can’t believe less than a month til I leave NY, time has flown by, I’ll miss my @CatsBroadway family like crazy!(sic)”
A replacement for the 31-year-old pop star has yet to be announced.
Leona stepped into the role at short notice after Nicole Scherzinger pulled out to be a judge on UK TV show ‘The X Factor’ and previously admitted the part was “perfect” for her
because she knew it wouldn’t be a lengthy stint on stage.
She said: “I’d just come off a tour, I was having some time off and it just seemed like the perfect role because it’s not a long commitment.”
Leona’s performance was recently praised by the show’s composer Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber.
He said: “She’s doing great. She’s been great fun to work with. She came very much in the last moment and I’m very pleased with what she’s done.”
Though the 68-year-old theatre boss recently admitted he was “furious” when Nicole pulled out of the production because it would have been a “great opportunity” for her, he understood her reasoning and would happily work with her again in the future.
He said: “The thing about Nicole is that she’s a wonderfully talented actress and singer. If I could find the right thing for her to work on then I’d love to.
“She really is an extraordinary performer and I in many ways understand why she chose not to do ‘Cats’.
“In many ways I’m sad because it would’ve been a great opportunity for her to be seen in America but at the same time I do understand and we are friends.
“We’ve both moved on and I have worked with her a few weeks ago at a concert in Austria. And do you know she’d be absolutely a number one person for me to call for a lot of roles.”
