Chris Pratt 'ripped open wounds' on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pratt “ripped open some wounds” whilst filming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
The 37-year-old actor admits it was tough having to confront the loss of his father whilst working on the second instalment of the fantasy film series.
He said: “The truth is I ripped open some wounds that had been healing for some time. And I didn’t want to. But I knew it was right for the moment …
“There are wounds that are never going to be totally healed. It would probably make for a better story if it was some emotional thing that I hadn’t dealt with … When we face the death of a parent, you sometimes feel regret that you didn’t fully embrace what you had.”
And Chris has been busy working alongside Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Passengers’ and has dubbed her “one of the greatest actresses he has ever had the pleasure to work with”.
He added to GQ magazine: “She is truly one of the greatest actresses I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. She acts like Adele sings. You just sit back and you think, damn, some people … She’s a terrible singer!
“But she’s a wonderful actress. She could just do it. She could just turn it on and it strikes emotion in you, like some people can just open their mouths and sing.”
Meanwhile, Chris previously revealed he is taking a six month break from acting so he can spend time with his wife Anna Faris and their four-year-old son Jack.
He shared: “I’ve been on the road for 14 months – I did three movies back to back to back – so I’m taking six months off.
“I’m taking Jack to Jack’s Beach – which is what we named the little stretch of beach on an island up on the San Juan Islands where we got a place. We’re going to go back to the fort we built about a month and a half ago when we went for a short visit and see if that’s still there. If not, we’re going to build it again.”

The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star is taking to the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Wednesday (30.11.16) and is thrilled to be walking alongside her close pals and fellow models.
She said: “It’s extremely comforting because these girls are genuinely my friends outside of work, outside of everything, so it’s really awesome to be able to share that with them.
“Everyone is so supportive, which is really nice, because I feel like it could go the opposite and everyone’s super cool and super supportive and everyone wants everyone else to succeed. So, it’s really cool.”
The 21-year-old model’s family have decided to stay in the United States rather than travel to Paris, France for the show but they have been very supportive of Kendall.
She added to Entertainment Tonight: “It’s [just] me. No one is coming out but they’re all – I’ve literally been texting with all of them, like, the past couple days.
“Everyone’s, like, freaking out, I got so many flowers from, like, all my family members. So, yeah, I feel the love for sure from Los Angeles.”
Meanwhile, the brunette beauty previously admitted she hates being told she is “jealous” of her sister Kylie Jenner and dislikes any “drama”.
She wrote on her app: “I hate drama so much! I’ve truly never been a dramatic person, not even when I was younger. The only time I would cry is if I wasn’t allowed to ride my horses.
“In terms of jealousy, I’ve never been that type (not even with Kylie, haha)! When people are acting jealous towards me, I just write them off and move on. Staying out of drama is just pretty simple for me! (sic)”

Jamie Foxx to produce series about Marvin Gaye

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Foxx is set to produce a series about Marvin Gaye.
The 48-year-old actor and Gaye’s son Marvin Gaye III will executive produce a project about the life of the ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ hitmaker, who passed away in April 1984.
Jamie said in a statement: “I’ve been a huge fan my whole life. His brilliance in music is unparalleled. Marvin Gaye’s story has always fascinated me.”
Whilst Marvin Gaye III added: “This project will be a powerful and definitive telling of Marvin Gaye’s life story.”
Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr., who signed Gaye to his label in 1961, also gave his blessing to the series.
He shared to the Hollywood Reporter: “Marvin was the truest artist I have ever known. I am confident that this is the right team to bring his story to the audience in an authentic and compelling way.”
Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones will also be executive producing the show and are currently discussing with Sony/ATV what music they can use in the show as the company hold the rights to the late singer’s music.
Jones dubbed the series a “labour of love for three decades”.
A Marvin Gaye biopic has been on the table for a long time but the different projects have suffered set backs time and time again.
In 2013, Lenny Kravitz dropped out of Julien Temple’s film ‘Sexual Healing’ but he was soon replaced by Jesse L. Martin, who had been linked to the role of Gaye in a previous version of the movie.
And earlier in 2008, F. Gary Gray – who went on to direct ‘Straight Outta Compton’ – had plans to work on a project about Gaye.
Speaking in 2015, he shared: “All the things he talked about in his albums and what is going on is relevant now. He was ahead of his time. His story is somewhat Shakespearean.”

Jodie Marsh proud of dogs' firm poop

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Marsh thinks her dogs’ poo is “amazing”.
The 37-year-old former glamour model – who is no stranger to getting her own ‘puppies’ out in front of the camera – is thrilled that feeding her canine companions a new raw food supplement has made their turds tougher.
Alongside a poop emoji, she tweeted:
“Gross tweet alert: since I’ve been feeding my dogs raw food from @NIrawpetfoods their poo is AMAZING! It’s firm & so easy to pick up. Haha
“I actually said to my friend on the dog walk today “God their poo is amazing” haha she laughed a lot! So thanks @NIrawpetfoods I’m happy! X(sic)”
But one of the best things about the dogs’ new diet is their poops don’t let off a pongy scent.
She added: “I can’t believe the difference in their poo in fact. It doesn’t even smell. It’s bloody brilliant. Wish I’d always fed them @NIrawpetfoods !(sic)”
Jodie, who split from husband James Placido earlier this year, has a total of six dogs – Jeff, Wendy, Rosie, Ralph, Louie and Marshall – and has previously admitted her beloved dogs have ‘saved her from depression’.
So it comes as no surprise that in return, the brunette beauty wants to give them the very best.
Four of her pet pooches are rescue dogs and she has owned the other two from when they were puppies.
Louie, the oldest pooch, is an 11-year-old British Bulldog that she acquired nine years ago, Ralph the Rottweiler is the second oldest and she has had him for just over 12 months. Marshall is a three-year-old black pug Jeff is a dwarf Jack Russell, Rosie is also a Rottweiller and Wendy is a Border-Terrier cross.
Jodie recently admitted she had always wanted a Rottweiler but she was scared of them until she brought Ralph into her home.
She said: “Although I’d always wanted a Rottweiler before I had Ralph I was still scared of them. Stupidly because I know because I’ve had dogs all my life and know a lot about them, but because I’d never had a Rottweiler I was a little wary of them. I mean if I saw one at the park I’d steer my dogs away from it because you do have this misconception about them, in part I think because they’re so big.
“The very first day Ralph came home with me he was in the kitchen and I’ll never forget, I had a couple of friends there that day and all three of us were scared of him.”
And the star has revealed she wasn’t the only one who was fearful of the new addition to her furry family, as her father, John, refused to look after the “bloody great big” dog.
She explained: “I’ll never forget something my dad said. I hadn’t consulted my mum and dad before getting him and when I’m away filming in America for my TV show it’s my mum and dad who look after my animals and basically they move into my home to take care of them.
“I’ll always remember telling them saying ‘Oh by the way I’ve rescued a Rottweiler’ and my dad said ‘right, well, let me tell you now I will not be looking after your dogs when you go away. Do you think I’m going to come and live in that house with a bloody great big Rottweiler?’ and he said ‘I will not do it.””

Sarah Jessica Parker relied on thrift stores

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jessica Parker shopped in thrift stores before she was famous.
The 51-year-old actress – who has son James Wilkie, 14, and daughters Loretta and Tabitha, seven, with husband Matthew Broderick – always sought fashion inspiration from the people she saw in the street, but because money was tight, she visited second hand shops to pick up new items cheaply.
She said: “I was like, ‘How can I do that? How can I afford to do that? What’s my version of that?’ Honestly, thrift stores played such a huge part in my life before ‘Sex and the City’, and of course, my mom was the biggest influence. She had pretty firm ideas about how we should dress.”
While the ‘Divorce’ star is widely regarded as a fashion icon, she insists she doesn’t go shopping very often, though she admits she is lucky to be able to borrow designer pieces.
She told America’s InStyle magazine: “I dress based on what I have.
“I’m not a huge shopper, but I love beautiful things. To be able to borrow them is ridiculously fortunate, and I enjoy every second of that. I have a pretty standard wardrobe, though I’ve got wonderful shoes.”
Sarah is a fan of Instagram but got rid of her account on micro-blogging site Twitter because she finds it “a boneyard” and very mean-spirited.
She admitted: “I don’t have the constitution for Twitter. It’s a boneyard, a feast of vitriol. I just don’t want to participate in it.
“But on Instagram people tend to be more civilized. And they can disagree and have objections, but I don’t find it as mean-spirited a community.”

Zara Phillips is pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara Phillips is pregnant with her second child.
The 35-year-old equestrian champion – who is the daughter of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips – and her husband Mike Tindall are said to be “thrilled” to be expecting a younger sibling for their two-year-old daughter Mia.
The new baby – which will be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s sixth great-grandchild – is due in late spring, meaning Zara is around four or five months pregnant.
A royal spokesperson said: “The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and members of the Royal Family are delighted with the news.”
Earlier this year, Mike, 38, admitted he would love more children one day.
He shared: “In the long run yes [I would like more kids], but I’m not sure when that will happen …
“I don’t think there’s one best part [about being a dad]. It’s just great, full stop, it’s a lot of fun. Mia has got bundles of energy.
And the former rugby player – who married Zara in 2011 – revealed his daughter loves being outside and hopes she will turn to sports one day too like himself and Zara.
He added: “Mia is always out and about. Where we live is an outdoor lifestyle. I’d love her to be sporty but if it’s not her thing she’ll make those decisions. We’re there to support her in whatever she decides to do. I’d love her to play golf, it would give me a reason to go to the driving range.”

Kanye West never grieved for mom

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West has “never effectively grieved” his mother’s death.
The ‘Famous’ hitmaker was admitted to UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles over a week ago after he reportedly suffered a “psychotic breakdown” and insiders claim the biggest trigger for his problems was the nine-year anniversary of Donda West’s death.
Sources told TMZ the 39-year-old rapper had increasingly grown more emotional over the last few weeks, thanks to the pressures of touring, running his business, supporting wife Kim Kardashian West through her trauma of being robbed at gunpoint last month, caring for their kids North, three, and Saint, 11 months, and a “shocking” lack of sleep.
But Kanye’s breaking point came with Donda’s memorial, and he cancelled his Los Angeles concert on November 20 – the same date her funeral had taken place in 2007 – before scrapping his entire tour.
According to the insiders, Kanye had been struggling to handle stress over the last few months, but in the week or so before his breakdown, he really started to unravel.
The ‘All Day’ star had been expected to leave hospital on Monday (28.11.16), but he was deemed not “mentally ready” to go home as doctors were concerned he’d push himself over the edge again.
A source said recently: “Kanye isn’t ready to go back home … If he gets released and isn’t mentally ready he will go back to his old ways and push himself over the limit again. He needs to keep up with counselling even though he has an intense work schedule. He is just really drained and weak. He isn’t himself.”
But while he remains in hospital, his 36-year-old wife has been a fixture by his bedside.
The insider added: “Kim is being patient and staying by his side. They both have been through a lot but are staying strong as a married couple and helping one another get back up.”

Sir Roger Moore says James Bond villain Nick Nack was a 'sex maniac'

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Roger Moore has revealed James Bond villain Nick Nack was a “sex maniac” in real-life.
The late Herve Villechaize, the 3ft 11ins actor who played the henchman in 1974 film ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’, had a passion for women more voracious then 007 himself according to Roger.
Speaking at London’s South Bank Centre, Roger – who played Bond in seven films between 1973 and 1985 – recalled: “He was a very small man and he used to touch me and I used to say, ‘Don’t touch me you are diseased.’ I wasn’t being cruel about his size, it was just that he was a sex maniac. He has a lust for ladies, unnatural!”
Roger explained that while they were filming in the Far East, Herve admitted he had slept with at least 35 women during that location shoot.
Sir Roger said: “When we were in Hong Kong he would find girls in girly clubs and go with a flashlight, ‘You, you, not you.’
“He told me 35. I told him that did not count as he paid for them, but he said, ‘Sometimes when I pay they refuse.’ ”
In comparison, for the entire run of 007 movies from first film ‘Dr. No’ to the most recent ‘Spectre’ that spans 54 years, Bond slept with just 58 women – a tally in which Herve almost matched in just one filming session.
Herve played the sidekick of main villain Scaramanga – played by the late great Sir Christopher Lee – but before his big Bond break, he was so poor that he lived out of his car in Los Angeles.
A well-known womaniser, French actor Herve once admitted: “I used to exploit my height and then let them mother me until I realised I was robbing myself of my masculinity.”
Herve – whose surgeon father unsuccessfully tried to treat his proportionate dwarfism – went on to become an alcoholic and suffered from depression.
He eventually shot himself at his Hollywood home in 1993 at the age of 50 and left a suicide note saying he was despondent due to long-term health problems such as chronic pain due to having normal-sized internal organs inside his small body.

Carrie Fisher refused to accept her bipolar diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Fisher took four years to accept that she had bipolar disorder.
The 60-year-old actress – who is best known for portraying Princess Leia in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise – was diagnosed with the mental health condition, that is marked by sharp mood swings at the age of 24, but she was initially unwilling to accept the situation.
She shared: “I was told that I was bipolar when I was 24 but was unable to accept that diagnosis until I was 28 when I overdosed and finally got sober. Only then was I able to see nothing else could explain away my behaviour.”
Carrie subsequently started attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) as she finally came to terms with her own troubles.
Acting as an agony aunt for readers of The Guardian newspaper in a feature dubbed ‘Advice from the dark side’, she spilled: “Going to AA helped me to see that there were other people who had problems that had found a way to talk about them and find relief and humour through that.”
Carrie was initially reluctant to attend the AA meetings, but she soon came to see the value in them as she battled bipolar disorder.
She explained: “Initially I didn’t like the groups. I felt like I had been banished to sit with a group of other misfits like myself to sit still for an hour. But then someone said, ‘You don’t have to like these meetings, you just have to go, go until you like them.’
“That took me by surprise. I didn’t have to like something I did? Wow, what a concept. I thought I had to like everything – so I would wait to be OK with something and if I didn’t get there it was permission to give up.
“But if I didn’t have to like it – if I just had to effectively put my head down and move through some uncomfortable feelings till I got to the other side – what a notion!
“My comfort wasn’t the most important thing – my getting through to the other side of difficult feelings was. However long it might seem to take and however unfair it might seem, it was my job to do it.”

Kate Mara dumped boyfriend for Super Bowl dent

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Mara dumped her boyfriend after he dented her family’s Super Bowl trophy.
The 33-year-old star’s uncle John Mara owns the New York Giants American football side and after they won the NFL tournament in 2008 she took her then-boyfriend, who she hasn’t named, to her parents’ house to see the famous Vince Lombardi Trophy, but he dropped the silverware and booted it with steel-capped footwear.
Kate – who has previously dated British stars Charlie Cox and Max Minghella, and is currently in a relationship with Jamie Bell – said: “My parents, my mom specifically, was very excited about this. And she said [to Kate’s ex], ‘Would you like to see it? Would you like to hold it?’
“He was a very enthusiastic man and he put on the gloves and then he went to lift up the trophy, but he lifted it up from the base, which we didn’t know wasn’t connected to the trophy, and it fell.
“In slow-motion I saw, he was wearing these steel-toed boots, he was a pretty good soccer player and he kicked his foot up and caught the trophy with his boot and then caught it in his hands.
“And he dented, just a tiny part. It never hit the ground though and I look over at my dad who is in the kitchen just watching the whole thing happen.”
Kate’s father Timothy was formerly vice president for player evaluation for the Giants, but she also has an allegiance to NFL side Pittsburgh Steelers.
Her mother Kathleen’s side of the family, the Rooneys – which is where her sister Rooney Mara gets her stage name from – are the owners of the club.
The Steelers are set to take on the Giants on Sunday (04.12.16) but Kate admits it is a win-win situation for her.
Speaking on talk show ‘Conan’, she added: “The good news is we always win. Someone’s always happy.”

Mariah Carey 'spotted smooching' backup dancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey has been spotted smooching her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka.
The pair were reportedly spied getting intimate during a break in Maui, Hawaii, fuelling further speculation they could be dating, and as well as sharing a kiss, they are said to have been frolicking in the sea with one another.
An eyewitness said: “They were all over each other, making out and not wanting to be more than a few feet apart.
“They swam in the ocean and he picked her up to kiss her. She was jumping into his arms, and he bent her back over his knee like they were dancing.
“Then they walked on the beach holding hands, and he gave her a piggyback ride. They had a lot of fun together, and were very playful. She was kicking up the water to splash him, and he was laughing.”
The 46-year-old singer – who split from her billionaire businessman fiancé James Packer last month – is said to have looked “very happy” with 33-year-old Bryan.
The onlooker added to Us Weekly magazine: “She seemed very happy and comfortable with Bryan.”
Earlier this month, Mariah – who has five-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her ex-husband Nick Cannon – was spotted walking “hand-in-hand” with Bryan at an event in Los Angeles, and she was also seen “feeding” him.
A witness said at the time: “It looked like they’re legit dating.
“Bryan had his arm around Mariah all night. She fed him dessert.”
The dancer recently featured in a trailer for Mariah’s new reality TV show, ‘Mariah’s World’, but there was no sign of James in the preview for the E! docu-series, leading to claims he has been completely removed from the show.
What’s more, a recent trailer featured members of Mariah’s team talking about whether or not Bryan has a “crush” on her.

Matthew McConaughey surprises students with lift home

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew McConaughey surprised a group of students by driving them home in a golf cart.
The ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star picked up pupils from the University of Texas – where he graduated from in 1993 with a degree in Radio, Television and Film – in the vehicle and transported them back to their apartments on Monday night (28.11.16) as part of a volunteering scheme.
Captioning an image of the 47-year-old star driving the group in a golf buggy, the university posted on Facebook: “Longhorns take care of each other, and it’s ‘safe’ to say Matthew McConaughey agrees. Don’t forget to use SURE Walk when traveling home late at night; you never know who might pick you up! #BeSafe #SafeChats (sic)”
A post on their Instagram account read: “Look who gave some students a ride home last night?
As part of SURE Walk, Distinguished Alumnus Matthew McConaughey, BS ’93, volunteered to help students make it home safely from campus. (sic)”
The Hollywood actor gave up his time for SURE Walk, an initiative which started life as a buddy walking programme to help students get home safely, and has since expanded to include golf carts.
The Texas University Union used Matthew’s generosity to promote the scheme, and encouraged others to get a lift back on it at night.
They shared the same picture and captioned the image: “Are you SURE you don’t want to take a SURE Walk home? You never know when #MatthewMcConaughey might be your ride. He gave a ride to some lucky students last night! New SURE Walk hours are 7p.m.-2a.m. every day! (sic)”
In July, a post on the university’s Facebook account revealed Matthew would be returning to the educational establishment to co-teach a film class alongside ‘Hunger Games’ director Gary Ross.
It read: “He’s in the movies. He’s on the field. Now, Matthew McConaughey is in the classroom.”

Cheryl unveils baby bump at Christmas carol concert

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl unveiled her baby bump as she attended a Christmas carol concert with her boyfriend Liam Payne in London on Tuesday night (29.11.16).
The former Girls Aloud singer and the One Direction heartthrob stepped out together at the Quintessentially Foundation’s Annual Fayre of St James’ Church – a charity concert held in aid of both her own charity Cheryl’s Trust and The Prince’s Trust – and following weeks of speculation the couple were expecting their first child together she proudly showed off her swollen stomach in a figure-hugging green dress with a black three-quarter length black jacket.
Knowing the cameras were all pointed at her, Cheryl, 33, made no attempt to hide her bump and proudly smiled as photographers captured her full womanly figure, while Liam, 23, gave a wry grin.
So far, the couple have publicly stayed silent on their happy news but all their family and friends know they are parents-to-be.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Cheryl has told close friends and family the very exciting news that she is expecting her first child.
“She is absolutely ecstatic. She doesn’t want to speak publicly about it for a number of reasons, particularly due to some of the battles she has gone through in her personal life in recent years.
“But now she is pregnant she is over the moon and has told all of her friends and family. At the event last night she was proudly showing off her bump and telling everyone how happy she was.”
Cheryl – who has been married twice to Ashley Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini – and Liam began dating back in February but first met when Liam auditioned for ‘The X Factor’ in 2010 when he was just 16 and she was a judge on the TV talent show, the series which created 1D and set the boy band on the path to global pop superstardom.
This will be the second One Direction baby following Liam’s bandmate Louis Tomlinson having son Freddie with Los Angeles-based stylist Briana Jungwirth in January.

Keith Urban prefers make-up free Nicole Kidman

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Urban prefers Nicole Kidman without make-up on.
The 49-year-old actress has admitted her husband of 10 years isn’t a big fan when she cakes her face in cosmetics and much prefers the natural look, but the ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ star believes it’s important for women to have a choice about whether they want to wear it or not.
Speaking at a press conference in Paris to launch the 44th edition of the Pirelli calendar, she said: “My husband totally prefers me with no make-up on. Always says that.
“I’m sure there’s an enormous amount of men that go, ‘I love women when they’re no make-up, they are most natural.
“Then there’s the flip side which is now I’m going to put on a character and look completely different. But that’s the choice and we’re allowed to have that choice.
“That’s a very important message, particularly to the next generation of not just raising women, little girls, but also little boys.”
Nicole stars alongside Jessica Chastain, 39, Charlotte Rampling, 70, Lea Seydoux, 31, Penelope Cruz, 42, Rooney Mara, 31, Dame Helen Mirren, 71 and Lupita Nyong’o, 33, among others in the 2017 Pirelli calendar shoot, which has a theme of female empowerment.
Uma Thurman – who has kids Maya, 18, and Levon, 14, with ex-husband Ethan Hawke, and four-year-old daughter Luna with former fiance Arpad Busson – also appears in the forthcoming calendar, and thinks it is “important” for her kids to see women being comfortable with the “ageing” process.
She added: “I have two daughters and a son, and it’s equally important, I think, for boys to see their mother ageing and being herself and not being uncomfortable with that.
“Both my daughters are also going to grow into women, well one of them is practically there.
“So, I think it’s wonderful to see that human empowerment opened up to that generation.”

Jennifer Aniston's Thanksgiving surprise

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston’s husband surprised her on Thanksgiving after saying he wouldn’t be able to make their meal.
Justin Theroux had told the ‘Friends’ star he couldn’t celebrate the annual event with her and their pals because he was going to be in Germany for work, but he shocked her by walking in holding the turkey.
Speaking about the surprise, she said: “That was my hubby. He came in with the turkey.”
The 47-year-old actress admitted her friends got “really depressed” when they found out the 45-year-old star wasn’t going to be able to make it to the meal, and joked she gave a “very unimpressive toast” in contrast to when the couple – who married last year – do it together.
Speaking on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, she added: “Everyone came to the house and no one really understood that Justin was not going to be there and you just saw everybody’s face just start to fall. The whole room got really depressed.
“I was like, ‘Guys, I’m here. I understand Justin’s not here, but it’s going to be okay!’
“I gave the toast at the head of the dinner table, which is usually me and Justin. And I gave, I guess, a very unimpressive toast where people were [not enthusiastic].
“Then salads came out and everyone was just very sombre and next thing you know, turkey walks in and there was another turkey holding that turkey.”
Justin recently admitted he always speaks to Jennifer first thing in the morning and before they go to bed.
Asked who the last person he spoke to before going to sleep and the first he talked to when he woke up, he replied to both questions: “My wife.”
But when he does get time off, Justin likes to spend plenty of time in the bedroom.
Asked if he’d choose sex or a nap, he said: “Really? Yes, and in that order.”

Natalie Portman's father never wanted her to be an actress

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman’s father never wanted her to be an actress.
The 35-year-old film star has admitted she decided she wanted to embark on a career in the movie industry when she was 11 years old, but her decision go down well with her parent who, even years into her profession, urged her to go to law school and become a “professor or a doctor or a lawyer” because he thought Natalie would feel more “fulfilled”.
The ‘Black Swan’ actress – who has five-year-old Aleph and is expecting her second child with her husband Benjamin Millepied – told Michelle Williams in a conversation with Variety magazine: “Someone was saying recently: Think about what you love when you’re 11. Adults who are feeling lost, try and regain that. And it’s funny that they pinpointed that age, because you say you started then. That’s when I started. I feel that there is something around that time where you do have an instinct about what you really love.
“I don’t know where it came from, because there’s no one in my family who was ever a performer. I came from such a serious, academic family, where the only thing that was acceptable was to be very literate and educated — you become a professor or a doctor or a lawyer. My dad pulled me aside when I was 25 and was like, ‘I think it’s time for you to go to law school or grad school.’ Not that he was saying that acting was bad, but more that he was like, ‘I think you’ll be more fulfilled if you have something more — like a life of the mind.’
“So it took me a while, coming from that background, to be like, ‘This is what I want, and this is what I love. I enjoy this.'”
And the brunette beauty – who wrote, starred in and directed Hebrew saga ‘A Tale of Love and Darkness’ has hinted her father’s plans for her future inspired her to direct.
She added: “Especially with what I chose to direct — it was so serious. I think it’s definitely motivated me to try other things, because I do find myself more fulfilled when I feel like I’m learning something from what I’m doing and pushing myself to new places.”
