OHMYGOSSIP — James Corden is to host the ‘Friends’ reunion special.
The official trailer for the much anticipated reunion – which will star Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) and Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani) – has been revealed and James has been lined up to host the HBO Max special, which airs on May 27.
The trailer opens with the six actors playing the famous question and answer game, set up by Ross, which saw the men take on the women to compete for Monica and Rachel’s apartment in the show.
The group then make their return to the famous set where they filmed the series over 10 years, visiting Joey and Chandler’s apartment as well as across the corridor to Monica and Rachel’s home, before they walk out to the screams of an audience in front of the iconic fountain.
James even quizzes the six of them on one of the show’s biggest questions – were Ross and Rachel on a break when he slept with another woman, with Matt making everyone laugh as he refused to answer.
In the trailer, David admits he thought from the get go that everyone was “perfectly cast”, as the group sit down to read lines from some of the show’s most iconic scenes.
Jennifer recalled being told that the show “wouldn’t make her a star” by one producer, whilst Matt remembers watching television and seeing “an aerial shot of each of their houses”. Before he added: “And I remember looking at it and thinking, ‘Oh my roof is a mess!'”
Courteney reflected on their time together, describing it as “incredible”, as she spoke of their friendship together. She added: “We became best friends.”
With her comment making Matthew feel teary, as he admitted: “I’m going to cry right now.”
James sums up the trailer by thanking the cast for their commitment to the characters.
As clips of special guests from the show are shown, James said: “I know you know how big the show is. What you’ve given so many people is an experience of huge comfort. We felt like we had these friends.”
