OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Crown’ stars Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, and Gillian Anderson have all been nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series at the 2021 SAG Awards.
The three actresses – who star as Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, and Margaret Thatcher in the Netflix hit respectively – will battle it out against each other in the category at the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, it was announced on Thursday (04.02.21).
In fact, the trio of nominations for the show in the same category means only two actresses received nods for other programmes, with both the remaining shortlist spots going to ‘Ozark’ actresses Julia Garner and Lauren Linney.
‘The Crown’ lead the nominations for the ceremony, with Josh O’Connor landing a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, and the whole cast bagging an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series nod.
For Olivia Colman, the nomination comes as one of two gongs she could take home, as she was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role in ‘The Father’.
Elsewhere, Chadwick Boseman received a posthumous nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his role in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, whilst his co-star, Viola Davis, got herself a nod in the female equivalent category.
Chadwick was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in ‘Da 5 Bloods’, where he will go head-to-head against Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Kaluuya, Jared Leto, and Leslie Odom Jr.
The SAG Awards will take place on April 4, and the nominations were announced on Thursday via Instagram by Lily Collins and Daveed Diggs.
