OHMYGOSSIP — Imelda Staunton is “furious” she’s not in ‘Peaky Blinders’.
The 64-year-old actress – who is set to take over from Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth in the final two seasons of ‘The Crown’ – thinks there are some fantastic drama series on television and she’d love to be cast in one herself.
She said: “’Line of Duty’ was great. ‘Succession’? What a corker!
“I’m furious that I’m not in ‘Peaky Blinders’, but I also don’t care because it’s so brilliant.”
Imelda was seen this year as social worker Penny in ‘Trying’ – in which Rafe Spall and Esther Smith play a couple trying to adopt – and the actress is pleased writer Andy Wolton took a comic tone to a serious subject as she thinks that’s more effective.
She said: “It’s a subject that hasn’t often been talked about before. I love that it’s being done in a humorous way by someone on the front line – I firmly believe if you can make people laugh, you can make people listen.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Harry Potter’ actress – who has 27-year-old daughter Bessie with husband Jim Carter – admitted she hates “quick fixes” and insisted people need to work to achieve their ambitions.
She said: “People see someone like me and think: you’ve been in ‘Harry Potter’! Yes, but I worked really, really hard for 40 years. I loathe quick fixes and the idea of ‘living your dream’. No, work for your dream – and create it, don’t follow it.
“Actually, no. It shouldn’t be a dream, it should be a reality. Work for your reality. Dreams are gone in the morning. In this job you need stamina. Never say the word ‘tired’ to me. I won’t have it!”
