OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Drew Pinsky has tested positive for coronavirus.
The 62-year-old presenter has been feeling ill for several days and it has now been confirmed he has contracted Covid-19, though he is starting to feel a little “better” and is hoping to be on the mend soon.
A post written on his behalf by wife Susan Pinsky – who tested negative and wore a mask in a selfie with her husband – read: “Cheers to the New Year with some Hydralyte for Covid-19. Drew tested positve day 4 and @firstladyoflove is negative. #2020 #covid19 #youlive. Drew is home, under survelliance and fever is down.
“Thanks Dr. Zelenko, Dr. Yo and Dr. Jeff for the superior care and advice. Drew is feeling better and will hppefully get well soon.(sic)”
And Susan went on to explain the precautions they were taken to stop the virus spreading within their home.
She wrote: “He was at the Hospital on the 22nd aiming for a vaccine. Not worth the trip. Maybe got it there? Who knows? We didn’t shelter in place, don’t intend to after this quarentine.
“I am not sick. Kids are not sick. We all had covid test on the 20th, neg, 25th, neg, yesterday the 28, neg. Now we wear masks and I wand the area, clorox, and Drew is very alone in the master with a trap door for food.
“Thanks for the well wishes. Can’t wait to be streaming again with y’all! Happy. New Year! @firstladyoflove (sic)”
And in a video update, the TV medic admitted he was relieved to have had a positive test result because the string of negatives had led him to worry he was suffering from leukemia.
He said: “Covid’s no fun, I don’t recommend it, but I’m through the viral phase… It took a lot of good medication to attack that early, there’s a lot we can do now… Man am I glad to get it now and not earlier in the course, I’m waiting for an antibody infusion but if this thing resolves before I get the infusion, so much the better…
“I put on Twitter I was wishing for a covid positive test because I had this terrible acute febrile illness and was testing negative, and if I did not have covid, I had acute lymphocytic leukemia, which I did not want to have but that was the only thing that would do what was happening to me and Covid was explain it nicely, so I was hoping for that.
“And I’m looking forward to the immunity that comes on the other side.”
