OHMYGOSSIP — A cockroach has been named after Keith Richards in honour of his 77th birthday.
The Rolling Stones rocker marked his 77th birthday on December 18 and to commemorate the day, the Children’s Museum have decided to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after Keith.
The Connecticut museum – which is only 60 or so miles from Keith’s home – has even given the new rock insect his very own miniature guitar, courtesy of Denver-based, 103.5 The Fox.
Writing on Facebook, the museum shared: “Thanks to our friends at 103.5 The Fox, who are celebrating Keith Richards birthday today, we now have a special resident of The Wildlife Sanctuary.  Meet Keith the Cockroach, named after Mr. Richards. It has been said that two things are known to have great survival rates, Keith Richards and cockroaches. You can visit Keith (the cockroach) at The Children’s Museum. We’re hoping to hear from his namesake!”
Meanwhile, Keith previously insisted his life has been “pretty exceptional” so far.
He shared: “It’s been pretty exceptional this particular life. I’m really at a loss sometimes to sort of figure out how the hell I got here. The music is the thing that keeps you going.”
And Keith admitted “every day is a pleasure” as he reflected on mortality.
He added: “Every day is a pleasure. I mean, I don’t wish to defy anybody’s predictions and I’m really not interested in them. But I’ll croak when I croak and everybody will know.”
And the ‘Sympathy For The Devil’ hitmakers have no plans to retire.
Speaking about their future plans, he said: “You might call it a habit. I mean, that’s what we do. And also there’s that thing between us, like, ‘Who’s going to be first to get off the bus?’ You have to be kicked off or drop off, right? So it’s like that. I really can’t imagine doing anything else.”
