OHMYGOSSIP — Diane Lane spent the coronavirus lockdown watching television.
The 55-year-old actress spent her time during the health crisis discovering the new talent in Hollywood, but still needs “another decade” to fully catch up.
She told The Independent: “Shamelessly and gratefully because I had a lot to catch up on and this is my profession. I need to be more aware of the young talent that’s coming up and the amazing new directors and shows that people love and I didn’t get to see.
“I mean, it’s so many. ‘Downton Abbey’! Can you imagine? I haven’t seen ‘Downton Abbey’.
“I mean, that’s how behind I am. I need another decade to catch up.”
Diane is also fed up with people being annoyingly competitive during the pandemic.
The actress has grown tired of people boasting about their new-found skills.
She explained: “This is the thing about this strange 2020. People are like, ‘What did you do with your isolation? Did you write the great American novel? Did you take up painting? Do you speak a new language? Can you cook new food? What do you have to show for yourselves?’
“People are so obsessed with that mentality, especially in America.”
Meanwhile, Diane would love to work with Kevin Costner again after they recently played a married couple in ‘Let Him Go’ and appeared alongside each other in 2013’s ‘Man of Steel’.
Asked what it would take for her to team up with Kevin once more, she said: “Not much. A great screenplay helps. We really did feel uphill with this screenplay and Kevin knows a good script when he finds one.”
The acclaimed actress is also keen to explore a new dynamic with the Hollywood star.
Diane said: “I would be thrilled to work with him again as we are pretty versatile.
“We don’t have to play a married couple again, we could try something different – but I would work together with him in a heartbeat.”
