OHMYGOSSIP — Karamo Brown has urged people to “connect” with others over Christmas however they can.
The ‘Queer Eye’ star acknowledged the holiday season will be difficult for many because of the coronavirus pandemic but they should do their best to look for the “positives” and try and send love and cheer to those they care about, even if they can’t physically be together.
He told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: “I think the first thing is acknowledging how hard this is for a lot of people.
“I want first to say, I understand how hard this is and I’m very sorry that you’re experiencing this.
“Our country is in the midst of grieving right now and it’s really hard when you’re in the midst of grieving to be able to see that there are any positives around you, that anything is good
“You might not be able to have the traditional way of having dinners and things of that nature, but how can you still get on Zoom and bake with those you love? How can you still send cards?
“What can you do during the holidays that you’re not thinking about that you can still connect and still feel as if you’re not alone, but still feel like people are still connected to you?”
The 40-year-old star will see his son Jason at Christmas in Los Angeles but won’t spend time with his younger offspring, Chris, who will be in Texas with his mother.
He said: “I have been staying my butt put because Ms. Corona, she and I are not friends, never been friends, and I don’t want to meet her.”
Karamo didn’t see much of either of his sons, who are both in their 20s, for several months at the beginning of the global health crisis because they didn’t take warnings seriously.
He said: “They just weren’t getting it. Finally, only in the past two months, they finally got it.”
The culture expert’s annual family trip, which they take between Christmas and New Year, has been cancelled for 2020.
He said: “A little bit of a shift, but you know this is what we all have to do to make sure we’re protecting those we love.”
