OHMYGOSSIP — Sophia Loren is “afraid” she is “losing [her] time” to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 86-year-old actress admitted she is “very upset” with how much her life has changed this year because of the restrictive measures that have been installed throughout the world in a bid to slow the spread of the potentially-fatal virus.
She said: “Our lives are completely different to what they were just yesterday, and I never expected that…
“I am very upset. Because I live a life that I would have thought it was impossible to live [before the pandemic], and I am afraid – so afraid. You feel that you are losing your time.
“But what can one do? Just believe in yourself and try to be strong, try to be positive, try to convince yourself that everything will be fine.”
Sophia – who lives in Geneva – has found it particularly tough being away from her sons Edoardo and Carlo Jr. – who she had with late husband Carlo Ponto – and their families, who all live in the US but she’s grateful to have some friends nearby.
She said: “I haven’t been able to see my four grandchildren [aged between eight and 14], and my sister is in Rome, and I don’t really feel I can go out, so I stay in and read, and do things that make me feel good.
“I’m lucky to have friends around me that I can chat to and who will make me laugh. But when I came here, I didn’t realise that the pandemic would reach the whole world – not just your own town and city, but our whole world.”
‘The Life Ahead’ actress admitted she is worried about the future and finds ongoing racial inequality “very, very sad”.
She told the Telegraph: “It’s a very, very sad thing, which is difficult to talk about. And I genuinely really worry, not only for myself but also for my children and for the world around me.”
