OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew McConaughey’s children are not allowed to lie.
The ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star – who has Levi, 12, Vida, 10, and Livingston, eight, with his wife Camila Alves – has strict rules for his three children, including that they shouldn’t lie, they’re not allowed to say ‘I can’t’ and they can’t use the word ‘hate’.
He said: “We do demand respect and trust within the household. We don’t allow lying in the house. You cannot say the words ‘I can’t’ and you can’t use the word ‘hate’. Those three words will get you in big trouble in our house. Lying, saying ‘I can’t,’ or saying ‘I hate.'”
And Matthew wants his children to be humble, despite his international fame and success.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey on her new Apple TV+ show, The Oprah Conversation, he added of his advice for his kids: “If a kid at school ever tells you, ‘Oh, I bet you live in a big house ’cause your dad’s famous,’ don’t bow your head. Look up and go, ‘Yeah, we do actually live in a nice house. My dad works really hard to be as good as he can at his job.’ I hope my children will become autonomous, conscientious, competent young people in their life.”
Meanwhile, Matthew previously revealed his “main dream” was always to be a father.
Speaking about the joys of fatherhood, he shared: “The one thing I knew I always wanted to be was a father. That’s been my main dream. That has always been, like, well – you made it … I spoke to a few very successful people [in Hollywood] and none of them did it how we do it. Every one of them chose to let their children stay at school, with their friends, rather than bring them with them on location. Every one of them said they’d do it differently if they could go back.”
