OHMYGOSSIP — KSI can’t believe his own success.
The 27-year-old star has made a successful transition from YouTube to rap music, having released his debut album ‘Dissimulation’ earlier this year, and even he’s shocked by what he’s managed to achieve in recent times.
The rapper – who has teamed up with Craig David for new single ‘Really Love’ – said: “Twenty years ago when I was in the car with my parents, we’d listen to ‘Seven Days’ and ‘Fill Me In’ … So I’m like, ‘How have I ended up here?'”
KSI and Craig have actually become close friends since working together.
The rapper hailed Craig as the “nicest guy and a lot of fun to work with”.
He told the BBC: “We just clicked like, you know? Certain people that I’ve worked with, boy, I’ve really had to force it – but with Craig, it’s so easy.
“He’s the nicest guy and a lot of fun to work with.”
KSI has a huge online following, with more than 10 million subscribers to his YouTube channel.
But he’s insisted that in spite of his fame and popularity, he won’t allow the success to go to his head.
He said: “It’s crazy, like, I don’t even go into studios. A lot of times, I just play the beat over and over and actually just write in my bedroom.”
The rap star also feels like he’s earned the success he’s now enjoying.
KSI – whose friends know him as JJ – admits that he’s not especially talented, but he thinks hard work has has helped to take him to the top.
He explained: “I think working hard beats talent 100 percent of the time.
“I’ve always said that I’m not talented … I just work hard to the point which allows me to reach a level similar to people that would be talented, and then break beyond that.”
