Britain’s Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie drove a Mini through the streets of Berlin yesterday (18.01.13) as they launched a campaign promoting the UK.
The royal sisters – daughters of Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson – flew to the German capital to support the Great Campaign, a global initiative to attract visitors, business and students to Britain.
Beatrice and Eugenie drove the Mini – emblazoned with the Union Jack flag – the short distance from the city’s famous Brandenburg Gate to the British Embassy.
The event launched the Great Britain Mini tour across Germany, a trip which will showcase the very best of Britain and Beatrice was thrilled to be involved.
In a short speech before their trip in the Mini, she said: ”The Great Campaign is designed to showcase the very best that we have to offer.
”2012 is already a year of amazing memories – but as 2013 begins we’ve got so much we’d love for people from around the world to come and enjoy – beautiful countryside; lively cities; and some of the world’s most incredible museums and hundreds of unique historic places.
”The Great Campaign also has a serious business side – Britain has trend setting fashion, groundbreaking scientists, and innovative technology companies.
”It is also a welcoming home for investors. We’re here to encourage more German businesses to join the thousands that are developing successful partnerships in Britain.”
