OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Dockery has hailed Chris Evans a “brilliant, brilliant person”.
The 39-year-old actress starred opposite the Hollywood hunk in Apple TV+ miniseries ‘Defending Jacob’ and loved every minute of being on set with him because their shared sense of humour helped them relax during breaks from filming.
She said: “He’s such a great actor to work with. He is exceptional in this role and he’s a brilliant, brilliant person. In a way, Chris and I have a similar approach because we know how to have a sense of humour away from the camera. Chris is very fun. He’s got a great sense of humour.
“When you’re doing a show like this, where the content is serious, it’s great to be able to have a laugh between scenes. Chris is great at that.”
The actress developed a strong bond with everyone working on the show, and hopes that was reflected on screen.
She said: “With any role, you have to immerse yourself in the character. With all roles, you observe others. I felt like it was very easy for us to become a family on set. We all had a really lovely time together, in spite of the intensity of the subject matter. I feel like we bonded very quickly and I think that comes across on screen. You really believe we are a family.”
But playing Laurie Barber, whose 14-year-old son is accused of murder, left her exhausted because it was such an “intense” role.
She has said: “Emotionally this role was one I really had to be ready for.
“It was one of those roles where I had to have a lot of sleep – I’d go home at the end of the day and have a nice long bath because it was so intense. It’s an incredibly intense subject and the character is thrown one way and then another the whole time, so it wasn’t easy.”
