OHMYGOSSIP — Helena Bonham Carter thinks her name is too long.
The 54-year-old actress has said her lengthy moniker is the “bane of [her] life”, because whenever anyone asks her for an autograph, she has to write out 18 letters, whereas someone like Brad Pitt “only has eight”.
She said: “I’m always doing too much. Early on in my career I was told by a director I have an expressive face, and I’ve been trying to keep it in check ever since. And words! I use far too many words. Even my name has too many words in it. The bane of my flipping life. Can I have your autograph? Ugh. It has 18 letters. Brad Pitt only has eight.”
Helena also said she has a habit of “revealing” too much about herself, but also loves becoming “someone else” when she takes on a film role.
She added to The Sunday Times’ Culture magazine: “I get excited about acting because it holds the promise that you could become someone else. Then you see yourself and go, ‘Dang, again I didn’t do it. Again I’m revealing myself.’”
Meanwhile, Helena recently said she found it tough enduring her public split from her ex-husband Tim Burton in 2014, and said being able to “relate” to that “personal fragmentation” helped her in her role as Princess Margaret in Netflix series ‘The Crown’.
She said: “It was something I could relate to, that vulnerability. It’s a horrible thing to be in public and going through a personal fragmentation, and I’ve never been a pretender. The stiff upper lip, I find boring.”
Helena – who has son Billy, 16, and 12-year-old daughter Nell with Tim – also admitted the “cruelty” of divorce is “extraordinary”, but now “recommends” the benefits of separation because she enjoys having a break.
She said: “It’s taken us some time to adjust, but I think it’s really very good now. And the kids are fine, they get to have a dual life.
“At first it’s a horrible thing to get used to, not having your children around [when you share custody]. The cruelty of divorce is extraordinary.
“But then you get to a point where you’re like, ‘Oh, I get this week off!’ Some parts are very much to be recommended.”
