OHMYGOSSIP — Grimes’ son is “into radical art”.
The ‘Oblivion’ singer only gave birth to her tot – whom she named X Æ A-XII – five months ago, but has said the youngster already has his own eclectic taste in art, and loves watching films such as ‘Apocalypse Now’.
Grimes explained: “I’ve watched ‘Apocalypse Now’ and stuff with my baby. He’s into radical art. Like, he just actually is, and I don’t think it’s problematic to engage with them on that level.”
The 32-year-old star has made a point to move her baby – whom she has with her boyfriend Elon Musk – away from traditional baby entertainment, and has even teamed up with the app Endel to create an “A.I. Lullaby” for him, in an effort to produce “a better baby sleeping situation”.
She added: “When you have a baby, you’re always using white noise machines. It’s much easier to get them to sleep if you train them on some kind of audio situation. And so I was just like, could this be more artistic? In general, stuff for babies is really just creatively bad. I don’t want your first introduction to the world to just be all this aimless crap.
“I’m not insulting babies. I’m just, it’s all very one vibe. I just feel like getting out of the like, ‘Here’s a zebra and a bear in, like, pastel colour tones’ energy. That’s just one very small sort of creative lens that things can be looked at through.”
And although her baby, affectionately known as X, was only born in May, Grimes is convinced he already has his own “opinions” and “tastes”.
Speaking to The New York Times, Grimes said: “[Babies] do have taste. They definitely like some things. They don’t like other things. They fully have opinions.”
Elsewhere in the interview, it was reported Grimes – whose real name is Claire Boucher – is now going by the name “c”, which is in reference to the speed of light.
The piece stated: “Talking to the artist, who now goes by ‘c’ (a reference to the speed of light), feels a bit like drinking from a fire hose of science fiction prophecy.”
