OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Maffia has been diagnosed with cervical cancer.
The 41-year-old music star – who first rose to prominence in So Solid Crew – has revealed news of her diagnosis via Instagram, explaining that she was en route to a colposcopy appointment.
Lisa wrote on the photo-sharing platform: “I never miss a smear and I unfortunately have cervical cancer. So now I’m even more cautious.
“This is just a reminder to anyone that maybe has forgotten to get tested!
“It’s not a game.”
Lisa returned to social media following her appointment, admitting she felt scared before going to the hospital.
However, she revealed that the process was actually “quick and easy”.
The ’21 Seconds’ hitmaker was keen to share her experience with her followers to encourage other women to “be mindful of [their] health”.
She added: “It can happen to anyone.
“I’m cool.”
Earlier this year, meanwhile, Lisa was forced into a two-week quarantine after being warned she was at a “high risk” of having coronavirus.
The singer – who was the main female member of So Solid Crew – revealed she was told to stay at home for two weeks and avoid contact with friends and family after being on tour.
Speaking in March, she told her Instagram followers: “I’ve been told it’s best to go in quarantine for two weeks at home so keep your mask on and don’t have contact with friends and family.
“Because I have been on tour for so long and around so many people I am high risk at having coronavirus. So I am staying in this bed for two weeks.”
