Sydney Sweeney creates memories for her movie characters

OHMYGOSSIP — Sydney Sweeney builds “character books” for every character she plays listing their possible memories, relationships, and failures.
The 25-year-old actress portrays Reality Winner, a former translator for the NSA (National Security Council) who was hailed for leaking information, in drama film ‘Reality’ and though she was portraying a real person in the film – which is based on the genuine transcripts of her FBI interrogation – she tackled the project in the same way as anything else she works on.
She told Big Issue magazine: “I approach all my characters in a very similar manner, where I build these character books for them.
“I build their entire life from the day they’re born to the first page of the script.
“Their memories, a timeline of their life, relationships.
“I did that for Reality as well, because I look at all my characters as real people that lie in a TV screen.
“I just had someone to actually bounce off of for her timeline and memories.”
But Sydney admitted it was meeting the real Reality that truly unlocked the project for her.
She said: “When I first read it, I felt like I was in this box. I was trying to figure out how to find the freedom within it, because I’m usually very free with my dialogue and characters.
“And then after I actually spoke with Reality, I went back and reread it and I saw so much of her in it.
“It just flowed and rolled off my tongue so much easier.
“I saw her humour, I saw where she was trying to completely redirect a conversation.
“It completely switched in my mind.”

‘I just love it!’ Katie McGlynn reflects on career after more than a decade on TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie McGlynn “genuinely loves” being an actress.
The 29-year-old star has played a number of roles on television, including troubled teenager Jodie ‘Scout’ Allen in ‘Waterloo Road’ and spent seven years playing Sinead Tinker on ‘Coronation Street’ from 2013 until 2020 but left the show when her character lost a battle with cancer and is in awe of the “impact” she can have on people with her job.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “I genuinely love it, that’s why I wanted to get into this industry. The impact that you can have, especially the stories on ‘Coronation Street’, which is in people’s living rooms five times a week and to be able to really tackle those issues and the impact that you can have is just brilliant. I love to entertain people. I want to make people laugh, make people cry and that’s just the beauty of this job.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant – who is now playing the part of Cleo in a touring production of Peter James’ ‘Wish You Were Dead’ – went on to remember that her late grandfather was her “biggest supporter” early on in her career and always wanted her to land a part in ‘Coronation Street’ but tragically passed away just weeks before she got the audition.
She added: “My grandad was my biggest supporter and I remember we were watching ‘Coronation Street’, I’d just landed the job on ‘Waterloo Road’ and he’s like ‘When are you gonna get on ‘Coronation Street’, Katie?’ I was like ‘Hold your horses!’
“And sadly he passed away in the February just before his 80th birthday, and a week or two later I got the audition for ‘Coronation Street’, which was just really bizarre. I always think of him when I’m doing these amazing things and he’s always in the back of my mind. I feel so lucky that I’ve had the career that I’ve had so far. In this play, Cleo is completely different to any other character that I’ve had.”

John Wick 5 is in development

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘John Wick 5’ is in the early stages of development.
The fourth installment of the thriller franchise that stars Keanu Reeves as a former hitman who is forced back into the criminal underworld was released in March but now Lionsgate chairman Joe Drake has revealed that a fifth movie is already in the works, along with a host of other projects at the production studio.
During a recent financial call, he said: “We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience. at is official is that, as you know, ‘Ballerina’ [starring Ana de Armas] is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including ‘John Wick 5’ and including television series, ‘The Continental’, will be airing soon.
“And so, we’re building out the world and when that five movie comes, will be organic – will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.”
The news comes just weeks after director Chad Stahelski admitted he “wouldn’t mind” making another film in the franchise.
Chad told The Direct: “The real question you ask yourself is not, ‘Do I want it?’ Yes, I wouldn’t mind doing it.
“We just tried to knock it out of the park. We tried to put everything on the table, take nothing, and leave it all. Like, ‘F*** it, every idea. We’re not saving anything. We’re not trying to build. Just everything you got, leave it there.’
“We feel we put everything we had into ‘John Wick 4’, and we feel we completed the cycle. We feel like we ended it. So, we feel like, ‘You know, that was a great way to wrap up the previous three films and the fourth and deliver something satisfying and fun.'”
The ‘John Wick’ series has been successful both critically and commercially and Chad is honoured that “people want more” stories from something he has helped to create.
He said: “That’s incredibly flattering. You have to be incredibly humble and go, ‘Thank you.’ And that’s our response, ‘Thank you so much. Thank you so much for offering. Thank you so much for wanting it. Thank you so much for everything.'”

Dr Ranj Singh says This Morning has a ‘toxic culture’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr Ranj Singh says ‘This Morning’ has a “toxic culture”.
The 43-year-old medical professional “genuinely loved” being on the ITV1 morning show but has issued a statement about his time working on it amid the scandal surrounding Philip Schofield – who recently admitted to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a runner who he met as a teenager at a stage school – who recently departed the morning show he co-hosted with Holly Willoughby.
The television personality said on Twitter: “I was on the show for 10 years and I genuinely loved and valued working there.
“However, over time I grew increasingly worried about things behind the scenes and how people, including myself, were being treated.
Dr Ranj claimed that he “didn’t know the truth” about the 61-year-old presenter but admitted understanding the problems not stop with him.
He said: “I didn’t know the truth about what was going on with Phillip, but I do know the issues with ‘This Morning’ go far beyond him. It takes more than one person to create a culture.”
Dr Ranj added that he “did what I thought was right” and sent in a compliant about the programme’s editor, Martin Frizzel’s conduct and felt a special responsibility to so because of his job role, writing “especially given that my job is to look after people’s wellbeing and I had been heavily involved in diversity, anti-bullying and mental health projects across the channel”.
“I then found myself being used less and less.”
The television personality explained his rationale why he felt he was being “managed out” and knows his experience is not just hs.
Ranj said: “I even took my concerns directly to the top of ITV: the culture at This Morning had become toxic, no longer aligned with ITV values, and I felt like because I whistle-blew I was managed out.
“But as history and experience have taught us, things like bullying and discrimination are very hard to prove, particularly in hindsight and when the ‘people in power’ control the narrative. As we’ve seen, no review or investigation is foolproof.
“I haven’t worked on the show since… and I’m not the only one who has spoken up or experienced similar.
“That was two years ago and, frankly, it still hurts. The whole process was pretty heart-breaking and even affected my mental health. But I’m happy to say I’ve found my feet again, know my worth and have found my tribe.
“There are some good people in TV, but we need to be brave and stand up to those who aren’t. Even if it’s scary as hell, we have to do the right thing otherwise nothing will change. I sincerely hope something good comes from all this.”
Dr Ranj also wrote “there is so much more” he could reveal.
An ITV spokesperson said in response: “We are sorry to read Dr Ranj’s post today.
“At ITV we are fully committed to providing every opportunity for anyone who works with us to raise any concern or comments they may have.
“Following a complaint made by Dr Ranj, we appointed an external and independent advisor to carry out a review. This external review found no evidence of bullying or discrimination.”

Halle Bailey reveals her Little Mermaid inspirations

OHMYGOSSIP — Halle Bailey was “inspired” by Brandy for her role in ‘The Little Mermaid’.
The 23-year-old actress takes on the leading role as Ariel in the live-action remake of the Disney classic and looked to pop star Brandy – who became the first black actress to play Cinderella on screen in the 1997 TV movie also starring Whitney Houston – and is “really grateful” to where she is because of the women that have come before her.
She told ETCanada: “I just am really grateful to be in this position. I loved Brandy as Cinderella; she was so amazing, such a role model and inspiration, and a really big kind of studying point for me as I was taking on Ariel. I just watched how amazing she was in that role and how comfortable she was in her skin and how impactful to audiences and little girls like me who watched it. And Anika Noni Rose, who’s just outstanding.
“I’ve had the chance to meet her and we got to sing [‘The Princess and the Frog’] song together, ‘Almost There’ for [2022’s ‘Disney Family Singalong’] with my sister. She was always so kind! But there are these beautiful black women pioneers who’ve done this before and been there for me to be able to say, ‘OK, I can do this.”
Halle went on to add that it has been a “beautiful moment” for her to see the reaction of youngsters because it reminds her of the little girl she was.
She said: “It’s been such a beautiful moment for me to be able to see the reactions of the babies — it makes me just emotionally overwhelmed honestly and I cry as soon as I watch them. I think of the little girl that’s still in me, honestly, and it heals that girl inside of me to watch them feel like they have representation and someone to look to, to know that they deserve to be in those places too. [It’s] so important. It just makes me cry anytime I see any of those videos.”

Dani Dyer gives birth to twins

OHMYGOSSIP — Dani Dyer has given birth to twins.
The former ‘Love Island’ star has taken to Instagram to show off a photo of her and boyfriend Jarrod Bowen’s identical baby girls, and revealed the pair were born on Monday (22.05.23).
Dani shared three photos, one of the girls tucked up together and sporting huge bows on their hats, another of the footballer carrying them out of hospital in their car seats, and a third of the pair in complementary pink outfits.
She simply captioned the post: “22.05.23 [heart emoji] (sic)”
Details including the babies’ names have yet to be revealed.
Dani’s dad, former ‘EastEnders’ actor Danny Dyer, was among the first to comment on his daughter’s post.
He wrote: “Can’t stop smiling [heart emojis] (sic)”
The 26-year-old star – who also has two-year-old son Santiago with former partner Sammy Kimmence – recently admitted she is worried about being able to tell her twins apart, so she had a few ideas to help.
Speaking last month, she told Fabulous magazine: “I follow a lady on Instagram who still doesn’t know which baby is which.
“I know I’m going to keep their hospital bands on with their names, baby one and baby two.
“Then I’m going to paint one of their toenails. I’ll write in my notes: ‘This baby is called… and has a pink nail.’ Otherwise, they’ll go years and they won’t know who they really are.
“In the beginning I think I’ll dress them the same. But then as they get older, I want them to have their own identity, even if it’s the same jumper in different colours.”
Dani also admitted she was “petrified” about how tired she would find the first few months.
She said: “It’s such a blessing and I’m so grateful, but I’m not going to lie, I’m petrified!
“Sleep deprivation is the worst. It’s a form of torture in some countries and I can totally see why.
“You’re just so tired. Santi was a nightmare for a good five months. I used to rock him to sleep and think: ‘I am never doing this again.’
“It’s going to be tough, but I know it’ll get better when they settle. Whereas in the beginning [with Santi], I thought: ‘I’m never going to sleep again. This is it.’”

The 82-year-old TV veteran went public with her health battle back in January and she’s now revealed doctors have told her the cancer is stage four – meaning it has spread to other areas – but she’s on a new medication and is waiting for a scan to find out if it’s been helping.
Speaking to the Mirror newspaper, she explained: “I’m on one of the new medications, and nobody knows if it’s working or not. But I will have a scan fairly soon which will reveal one way or another.”
Esther went on to insist she has no regrets and her health battle has made her look back on her life and achievements with pride.
She went on: “My diagnosis of stage four lung cancer made me realise how very lucky I’ve been in my life, working with [charities] Childline and the Silver Line, and meeting so many fascinating and inspiring people, and especially lucky to have spent 21 years working as producer/presenter of [TV show] ‘That’s Life!’

Quentin Tarantino searches for his Movie Critic leading man

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino is still searching for a leading man for ‘The Movie Critic’.
The 60-year-old director has revealed that his new project centres on a film critic from the 1970s who “used to write movie reviews for a porno rag”.
Tarantino told Deadline: “He wrote about mainstream movies and he was the second-string critic.
“I think he was a very good critic. He was as cynical as hell. His reviews were a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle [Robert DeNiro’s character in ‘Taxi Driver’] might be if he were a film critic.”
Tarantino – whose previous film credits include ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Django Unchained’ and ‘Reservoir Dogs’ – has already done a lot of research into the critic.
He explained: “He wrote like he was 55 but he was only in his early to mid-30s. He died in his late thirties. It wasn’t clear for a while but now I’ve done some more research and I think it was it was complications due to alcoholism.”
Despite this, Tarantino remains on the lookout for his leading man.
The acclaimed filmmaker explained that two of his favourite actors, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, are too old for the part.
He said: “I haven’t decided yet but it’s going to be somebody in the 35-year-old ball park. It’ll definitely be a new leading man for me.”
Tarantino has one particular actor in mind for the part – but at this stage, he’s not willing to name him.
The veteran director shared: “I do have an idea of somebody I can imagine doing it really well.”
Asked if a Brit could play his leading man, Tarantino replied: “No. The truth of the matter is, yes, obviously, a Brit could pull it off, but I don’t want to cast a Brit.”

Marvel’s Thunderbolts delayed due to writers strike

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Thunderbolts’ has been delayed due to the writers strike that’s currently crippling Hollywood.
Marvel’s latest superhero blockbuster – which stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and David Harbour – had been due to begin filming in Atlanta, Georgia in June but now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed studio bosses have pressed pause on production because of the ongoing walk-out by members of the Writers Guild of America union.
The new film brings together a number of different worlds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) including ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’, ‘Black Widow’ and the next Captain America movie ‘New World Order’ with a cast that also features Olga Kurylenko, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, ‘The Bear’ star Ayo Edebiri and Steven Yeun.
The movie is being directed by Jake Schreier and little is known about the plot of the movie but the comics revolve around a group of villains who are sent on missions commissioned by the government.
‘Thunderbolts’ had been due for release in July 2024 but it’s not known if the delay will affect the date.
The news comes after the studio previously decided to delay the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot due to the strike action while Marvel TV series ‘Wonder Man’ has also stopped filming.
However, production on ‘Captain America: New World Order’ appears to be going ahead as planned while work on a third ‘Deadpool’ movie recently began in the UK.
The strike has been causing chaos across the US film and TV industry since it began on May 2 with union members walking out in a bid to negotiate better residuals from streaming services among other issues.

Joining EastEnders was a no-brainer, says Colin Salmon

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Salmon’s decision to join ‘EastEnders’ was a “no brainer”.
The 60-year-old actor is best known for playing Charles Robinson in three James Bond films – but Colin has now revealed that he didn’t hesitate to join the BBC soap because his wife, artist Fiona Hawthorne, has a lung disease.
Colin – who is playing former boxer George Knight on the show – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s a no-brainer. My wife’s not well so I can’t be far from home.
“I was born in the Mothers’ Hospital, in Clapton Pond, decades ago, and I’m an East Ender and it was a big show for us growing up.
“Everybody I’ve told I’m doing this has got really excited.
“The universe has been really kind and I’m loving it. It’s like a meeting of theatre, film and telly – it’s a different genre. You’ve got to work hard. I like working hard and I’m happy.”
Colin also revealed that he’s already received a lot of help and advice from ‘EastEnders’ veteran Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell.
He shared: “He’s brilliant. His advice was ‘Just get it done. Be ready’. He is the boss. He’s the alpha but he’s there on the sofa, smiling and chatting with everybody. It’s not like he’s distant. So he’s the dude.”
Meanwhile, Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer of ‘EastEnders’, previously described Colin’s on-screen character as a “charming rogue”.
Chris said in a statement: “The arrival of the Knights brings a new dawn to Albert Square.
“George Knight is a charming rogue and an old-school gent who dotes on his two daughters, Gina and Anna.
“George will take up residence in The Queen Vic when he joins his beloved Elaine, a powerhouse of a landlady who knows just how to have fun.”

Alison Hammond ‘likely to become a bigger part of This Morning’

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond is “highly likely” to become a bigger part of ‘This Morning’ following Phillip Schofield’s departure.
The 48-year-old presenter has been tipped to replace Phillip, 61, on the ITV show, and it’s now been revealed that she put her house in the West Midlands on the market on the day that his exit was announced.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The timings are entirely coincidental but are, perhaps, telling. Alison loves that house but wants a fresh start. She’s incredibly in demand.
“It’s looking highly likely she will be asked to do more days a week on ‘This Morning’ – and therefore she will be spending more time in London.”
Alison and Dermot O’Leary replaced Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on ‘This Morning’ in January 2021.
And it’s recently been suggested that she could become a full-time host of the show alongside Holly Willoughby.
Earlier this week, meanwhile, Alison hailed Phillip as “one of the best live television broadcasters” Britain has ever produced.
The veteran presenter previously announced that he was stepping down from ‘This Morning’ “with immediate effect” after more than 20 years on the show, and co-hosts Alison and Dermot both acknowledged that he’s played a huge part in the programme’s success.
Alison said: “Now, we can’t start today’s show without paying tribute to the man who spent the last two decades sitting on the ‘This Morning’ sofa, Phillip Schofield.”
Dermot continued: “So, as a show, everyone on and off screen at ITV and ‘This Morning’ wants to say a huge thank you to Phil for what he’s done to make the show such a success over the last 21 years.”
Alison also wished the veteran TV presenter well for the future.
She said: “Quite simply, we all know he is one of the best live television broadcasters this country has ever had. And we and all the team wish him all the best for the future.”

He shared: “I am living with cancer rather than dying from cancer.”
Jonnie is also loving spending quality time with his family.
The presenter – who has Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jessica Holmes – said: “I’ve been home more than ever before and I’m lucky to have seen every bit of their upbringing, and see how they change. That makes me very proud. And I’m kind of thankful for that.”

Daniel Brocklebank’s grandfather taught him Motor Neurone Disease ‘strips away your dignity’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ star Daniel Brocklebank’s grandfather taught him that Motor Neurone Disease (MND) “strips” you of your dignity.
The 43-year-old actor has revealed that he has first-hand experience of watching a family member deal with MND, which damages parts of the nervous system and leads to muscle weakness.
Daniel – whose on-screen partner has been diagnosed with the condition – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “He was a very dignified man, but MND strips you of that; people think you’re drunk.
“I remember being out for a family meal. His footing was uneven and his speech was very slurred and the woman on the next table said: ‘Don’t you get embarrassed when he gets this drunk when you’re out.’ He wasn’t drinking, but people assumed he was drunk, it was mortifying.
“Another time I was at a petrol station and the guy behind the counter wouldn’t let him pay for the petrol and was going to call the police, because he thought my grandad was drink-driving. I had to explain, but it was so embarrassing for him.”
Daniel recalled his grandad telling him that the condition was hurting his soul.
The soap star admits it was “absolutely horrible” to watch him battle the illness.
Daniel – who describes his grandad as a “wonderful” influence in his life – shared: “I remember asking him once: ‘Does it hurt?’ and he tapped his heart and said: ‘Only in here.’
“Towards the end he couldn’t swallow and he couldn’t drink. I remember him choking once as he tried to drink; it was awful. He couldn’t cough either, so he couldn’t clear his throat; it was absolutely horrible to watch.”
