“Sending love and fairy dust to the amazing Shannon Lockey who I know will make the most magical Fairy Bon Bon.”

She told the Independent: “I’ve suffered with depression on and off for my entire life, but the comments I received when I was on Strictly sparked off anxiety, which wasn’t really something I had dealt with up until that point. It’s just that anxiety of opening your phone up and wondering what you’re going to get next.”

Lily Gladstone aimed to honour Mollie Burkhart’s family with Killers of the Flower Moon portrayal

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Gladstone wanted to honour Mollie Burkhart’s family with her performance in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
The 37-year-old actress plays Mollie, an Osage woman, in Martin Scorsese’s epic and explained how she placed lots of value on the opinion of her character’s granddaughter Margie.
Lily told Deadline: “The person whose opinion I valued most at the end of the day was always going to be Margie Burkhart, who was Mollie’s granddaughter and Cowboy’s daughter. Margie had never met her grandmother – Mollie passed away in 1936 – but she had pieced together her sense of who Mollie would’ve been from little stories from her dad, but not many.
“So, when we were meeting with Margie, I knew that she wasn’t going to hand me a list of, ‘This is Mollie and how to play her.’ There was no blueprint, but where you find that is the legacy they leave within their family. So, there’s a lot of small gestures that came from that meeting. The way Margie just is around people. A lot of that went into Mollie.”
Lily has earned a Golden Globe nomination for her work in the movie and reflected on getting to meet Margie’s family at the picture’s Osage premiere.
She recalled: “I got to see her in person at our Osage premiere. And she talked about how she was amazed that we had done it, we accomplished it.
“She just embraced me so tightly. She introduced me to her grandchildren, so Mollie’s great-great-grandchildren. I remember the youngest one that I met. I could see Mollie’s face just so perfectly, and for a second the way it felt like I was able to look at her, it was like she was meeting her grandma. It’s like the way she met her grandma was through this film.”

“It’s a real responsibility. I go out of my way to have conversations on there that are real and honest. Social media for me has been a gift but for some, it can take a toll. I’m big on talking about skin positivity because I’ve struggled for 15 years with quite severe acne.”

“I dipped in and out as it’s really weird when you watch it because you’re slightly envious you’re not there. It was the best thing I’ve ever done. I love proving to everyone that I’m stronger than I look and different to what they perceive.”

Ricky Gervais gets a thrill from telling offensive jokes

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais loves writing and telling offensive jokes.
The 62-year-old comedian, who starred in Netflix’s ’After Life’, is known for his controversial and dark sense of humour but is over worrying about cancel culture, and will instead continue engaging in comedy deemed by some to be offensive.
During an appearance on the ‘Headliners’ podcast, he said: “Maybe at the beginning, I thought, ‘I don’t want to be cancelled, I’ve got more things to say.’ Now, I don’t care.
“If someone said, ‘You can never go on telly again’, I’d go, ‘Yeah, whatever.’ I’m fine [with that].”
The comedian, who is facing controversy after he called children with cancer “baldies” in his latest Netflix special, ‘Ricky Gervais: Armageddon’, with 5,000 people calling to remove the joke, emphasised that he relishes in writing and telling offensive material that will likely get under some people’s skin.
He explained: “The rush for me is when I have the idea. I go, ‘Can I make them laugh at this?’”
Just days ago, the former ‘Office’ star revealed that he had become the co-owner of Ellers Farm Distillery.
In a video clip shared on Instagram, Ricky explained: “I am thrilled to announce that I am the proud co-owner of Ellers Farm distillery, and we make Dutch Barn Vodka.
“It tastes great, it’s made from British apples, we’re committed to sustainability, and the protection of the ecosystem and the best bit is this could literally make me hundreds of milions, so please buy it, yeah?
“Sure like all strong liquor it may damage your liver and your wellbeing, but think how happy it will make me … and the saving the planet thing.
“I’d been looking to invest in eco-friendly businesses for a while and as soon as I found Dutch Barn I wanted in! I love the planet and I love a drink so it was the perfect combination.
“On a serious note, Dutch Barn really is a quality product. I love the fact that it’s done differently and I can’t wait to let everyone know about it.”

Davina McCall ‘did not do well’ for The Masked Singer guesses

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall “did not do well” with her guesses for ‘The Masked Singer’.
The 56-year-old TV star is a panelist on the ITV show alongside Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gillingan, and has to decipher which celebrity is in costume by listening to their singing voice. Unfortunately for the ‘My Mum, Your Dad’ host, Davina has not made many correct guesses this series.
Speaking to The Daily Star newspaper, she said: “I looked through all the celebrity magazines to see who’s around at the moment … I did my homework, but I did not do well this series.”
Davina emphasised that she enjoys the show more if she does not work out who the star beneath the mask is, as the surprise of their reveal is more satisfying that a correct guess.
She explained: “If I’m honest, I like not knowing who it is.
“It’s more exciting when someone is unmasked and you have no idea who there are.
“I don’t like it when I know 100 per cent who it is. It actually takes the fun out of it for me.
“It’s much more enjoyable when you think, ‘Do you know what? I think it’s this person, but I am probably wrong.’
“I like to think what I lack in correct guesses I give in enthusiasm. That’s what I bring to the show.”
In the most recent series of the programme, Charlie Simpson as ‘Rhino’ was crowned the winner, with Ricky Wilson’s ‘Phoenix’ coming second and Natalie Appleton’s ‘Fawn’ finishing in third place. The show also saw Martin and Shirlie Kemp take to the stage as ‘Cat and Mouse’, as well as Chris Kamara’s ‘Ghost’.
The new series of ‘The Masked Singer’ returns to screen on 30 December at 7pm on ITV1, and will be available to stream on ITVX.

‘The beginning of something’: Wes Ball hints at new Planet of the Apes trilogy

OHMYGOSSIP — Wes Ball has revealed that ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ will mark the start of a new trilogy in the franchise.
The 43-year-old filmmaker is helming the upcoming flick that sees Owen Teague’s chimpanzee Cornelius take over the lead role from Andy Serkis as Caesar and promised that the fourth installment is the “beginning of something”.
Wes told Empire magazine: “From the beginning we thought about this as a trilogy. We had these grand ideas where it could ultimately go and how it could fit into the legacy of these movies. So I’m certainly talking to (the studio) right now about the next story.
“The last three movies were about the end of something. They were about the end of this Moses story. They were about the end of humanity. And we thought, ‘From the ashes of those previous movies, we’re gonna grow a new tree to climb.’ This movie is very much about the beginning of something.”
Owen previously revealed how he sought advice from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ actor on how to adapt to the challenge of motion capture acting.
The 25-year-old star said: “Well, we all talked to Andy Serkis. He and I had a meeting, and he was part of why I became an actor. So this was something that I’d been wanting to do my entire life, and it was literally a dream come true to get to do this job and play this character.
“The hardest part about it was just learning how to be in a suit all day and have a camera strapped to your head. But you get used to it after about a week, and I remember Andy being like, ‘You’ll get used to it and you’ll stop worrying about it after the first week.’ And he was absolutely right.”

Joel Kinnaman was spurred on by fear for Silent Night role

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Kinnaman had an “element of fear” for his role in ‘Silent Night’.
The 44-year-old actor plays grieving father Brian Godlock – who seeks revenge on a gang who killed his son and removed his own ability to speak in a drive-by shooting on Christmas Eve – in John Woo’s movie and knew the risks of taking on a part without dialogue.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joel said: “I would say the (excitement-fear) ratio was something like 80:20. If you get it wrong, it’d be a failed attempt to do a movie with no dialogue, and that just sounds like a boring travesty.
“But it’s very cool to get to a cinematic experiment, something that is artistically courageous. That’s what you dream of doing, and it happened to be with a legendary filmmaker.
“So I’ll say 80:20, but I have to have some amount of fear in everything I do or I’m in trouble. That element of fear helps motivate and push you.”
Joel explained that he always had an “inclination” to do a non-verbal movie as it requires skill as a performer to communicate to the audience without relying on speech.
The ‘Suicide Squad’ actor said: “Well, I’ve always had this inclination. Coming up as a young actor, people were always clamouring to get more lines, because the people that speak the most are considered to be the most significant, but I was always trying to get rid of my lines.
“If I could convey the same thing without saying it, it’s going to be more interesting. When an older actor told me that nugget, it just stuck with me, and then I started noticing it when watching films.”
Joel added: “So, if you can get the same thing across without saying anything, it’s a better way to tell the story. It’s more subtle, and the audience gets to tell themselves the story in a way. You want to make the audience a co-creator, and having them perceive the inner dialogue is always more powerful.”

Ncuti Gatwa says he knows ‘many a gay man who is exactly like Doctor Who’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa knows “many a gay man who is exactly like the Doctor’.
The 31-year-old actor will take over from David Tennant as the Time Lord in the next instalment of the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary special, ‘The Church on Ruby Road’, and has explained that the hero’s identity as a “lonely wanderer” is exactly the same as a gay man’s.
During an interview with The Guardian newspaper, he said: “We choose our families. And the Doctor is a lonely wanderer, looking for their next adventure … I know many a gay man, many a gay man, I could describe that way!
“I think that’s a beautiful, beautiful theme Doctor Who has, because chosen family can be more meaningful, more supportive. That really can be the case, and it’s a theme that absolutely runs through the show.
“It’s part of the reason Doctor Who has such a huge connection to LGBT people.”
The ‘Sex Education’ star also emphasised that the Time Lord, who will appear on screens on Christmas Day, likely has a “funny relationship” with the festive season due to his “loneliness”.
He said: “He probably has quite a funny relationship with Christmas.
“It isn’t joyous for everyone, and the Doctor is … quite lonely. I think the Doctor has a loneliness, a sorrow, a sadness that they try to fill with chaos and mischief. So I think they have quite a love/hate relationship with it.”
Ncuti will be joined by his new accomplice, Ruby (Millie Gibson) in the Christmas episode, who has promised that it will not disappoint fans.
Speaking with Yahoo News UK, she said: “It’s a very feel-good episode and it stands true to Doctor Who. That’s all I’ll say!”
The 20-year-old actress also joked that fans are shocked at how young she is, after she admitted that Matt Smith, who played the Time Lord from 2010 to 2014 was who she watched as a child.
She said: “Whovians cry at the fact that Matt Smith was my Doctor, because it makes them feel really old, but Matt Smith was my go-to.
“I was alive for David Tennant’s era, I will say that, everyone don’t panic! But, yeah, Matt Smith and Amy Pond [are] the people I think about, when I think about Doctor Who.”

Josie Gibson ‘couldn’t breathe’ after post-I’m A Celeb health scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Josie Gibson was rushed to hospital after jetting back from ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 38-year-old TV presenter appeared alongside the likes of Brexiteer Nigel Farage, podcaster Sam Thompson, and former boxer Tony Bellew in this year’s series of the ITV show, and has revealed her return to her job on ‘This Morning’ was “touch and go” after she suffered a health scare upon arriving in the UK.
During an appearance on ‘Loose Women’, she said: “When I came out, I was on the flight coming home and I just started to feel really unwell, shivering. Then when I got back, I had severe tonsillitis, I couldn’t breathe so I got taken to hospital on Friday.
“They put me on a drip and gave me loads of steroids to bring the swelling down so I could breathe again. It was a bit touch and go whether I could have made This Morning, I just want to thank everybody [at the hospital].
“I would not have been able to do This Morning without them and they really took care of me, so thank you to all the doctors and nurses.”
Josie then relived being called into the operating room, where fellow patients were shocked to discover the ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ star.
She said: “I was sat there in A and E and they said: ‘Josie Gibson’. I heard people go, ‘That’s that lady off the jungle’, and I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s me!’”
The former ‘Big Brother’ star came fourth in the ITV programme, which saw ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Sam Thompson crowned the new King of the Jungle.
Although she was not victorious, Josie said she was “so happy” for her campmate.
She told Dermot O’Leary during an appearance on ‘This Morning’: “It feels so good to be out, but can I just say, I am so happy that Sam has been crowned King of the Jungle. That man is such a gorgeous human being, I just love the bones of him. He’s just such a beautiful soul. He’s like a puppy, just love him.”

Alison Steadman misses Gavin and Stacey

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Steadman was “so sad” when ‘Gavin and Stacey’ ended.
The 77-year-old actress played Pamela Shipman, Gavin’s (Mathew Horne) mother and Stacey Shipman’s (Joanna Page) mother-in-law in the BBC Three sitcom, and has admitted that after shooting 2019 Christmas special, the whole cast and crew were in tears together.
During an interview with The Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “I have to say it is the only show I have ever worked on where when we finished each character’s final scenes like, ‘That’s a wrap for Alison Steadman’.
“Everyone used to put their heads down and cry as we were so sad it was over. It was such a good experience for everyone. I think the magic of the series was that everyone loved each other and the audience loves that.”
Alison admitted that she was “thrilled to bits” when she was cast as Pamela, and she hopes that Ruth Jones and James Corden, who play Nella and Smithy, will return to their writers’ desk and pen another episode.
She said: “Pamela was a great part to play. I was thrilled to bits when I was given that role. I just knew this was going to be good.”
The actress also recalled meeting Joanna and Mathew for the first time, and emphasised that she knew they were going to be “perfect” in their roles.
She said: “Joanna came running over to me going, ‘Hiya, my name is Jo and I am playing Stacey’. “I looked at her and thought, ‘You are perfect’. Then I saw Matt and the two of them together were perfect. It was brilliantly cast.”
Recently, Joanna revealed that her on-screen father-in-law Mick Shipman (Larry Lamb) had faked the piano scene in the 2008 Christmas special, as the actor could not play the instrument at all.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “Larry had piano lessons but it made no difference because he was absolutely dreadful at playing the keyboard. If you look closely at the end, he’s not actually touching the keys – his hands are hovering over them.”

Anita Dobson reveals why she couldn’t go back to EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Anita Dobson thinks she is “too old” to go back to ‘EastEnders’.
The 74-year-old actress played Angie Watts in the BBC One soap opera from its very first episode in 1985 until 1988 and the Christmas Day episode in 1986 in which her husband Den Watts served her with divorce papers was watched by a record-breaking 30.1 million viewers but is not sure that she could ever see a comeback on the cards these days.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she told stand-in host Louise Minchin: “I knew when we were filming it that it was a great scene, the relationship was really good between us. I didn’t realise the impact that we would have on the public and to this day I’m thrilled. I love the fact that everybody took the Watts to their hearts. I don’t think I could [go back] at my old age, I’m too old now! Everybody nearly has gone!”
Meanwhile, Anita – who since her time on ‘EastEnders’ has gone on to have a long career in television but has also appeared in musicals such as ‘Wicked’ and ‘Annie’ – is starring in the upcoming Christmas special of ‘Doctor Who’ as Mrs Flood and claimed that the “secret” to the show’s long-running success is because it moves with the times.
“I think the secret, from my point of view, is that it keeps changing. The fact that it keeps coming up with different ideas, different doctors, different situations. It is moving forward with the times and with the technology, I think that is what is keeping it going.”
Meanwhile, the former soap star is married to Queen rocker Sir Brian May, 76, and went on to explain that while she is usually working over the festive period, this year the pair of them have the chance to “shut the doors” and enjoy Christmas together on their own.
She said: “Usually, I’m working and doing pantomime. This year, because I was working quite late up to the wire I’m not so I’m enjoying the run up to Christmas. We’ve decided, Brian and I, that we’re going to just shut the doors and just be us. ”

Leighton Meester eyes Exmas sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Leighton Meester wants to make a sequel to ‘Exmas’.
The 37-year-old actress stars in the new festive comedy as Ali, whose former fiancé Graham (Robbie Amell) travels home to surprise his family for Christmas, only to find them celebrating with his old flame, and she had such a good time making the movie, she’d love to do it all again.
She told Best magazine: “The fun was constant! This is the most fun I’ve ever had on a set, which I think also comes across when you watch the movie…
“I just want a sequel right away.”
And Leighton thinks there are enough funny outtakes from the movie that would make a film in their own right.
She said:” I’m sure there’s so much footage of us all behind the scenes just cracking up and that could make a movie of itself.
“It felt very much like a real family right away, everybody was getting along so well, beyond what I could have imagined.
“The dynamics were so cosy, comfortable, supportive – and, above all, hilarious.
“Everybody brought something different – there were little things that didn’t even make the movie.”
One particular scene was something the actress will never forget.
She said: “One of the funniest times was just going round the table with a fish-eye lens on camera and seeing each actors reactions when a pot brownie is going into their system.
“Just sitting back and trying to hold it together when everyone is giving their best stoned performance to the camera, it was impossible to keep it together.”

Joel Kinnaman desperate to work with Nicolas Cage

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Kinnaman was desperate to work with Nicolas Cage.
The pair share the same agent and recently teamed up for the 2023 movie ‘Sympathy for the Devil’, with Joel , 44,revealed he had been hounding their agent to find them something to work on together.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’d actually been on the hunt for something to do with Nic. We have the same agent, and I’d been hounding Andrew [Finkelstein] to find something. Most people are fans of Nic, but I also just have this professional fascination with the courage that he has in how he plays his characters. I wrote this speech for the award I presented to him in Saudi Arabia, and I talked about that. We talk a lot about “acting balls,” and Nic’s acting balls are like watermelons. Saudi Arabian TV actually cut that line. They didn’t want me to say that, but I’ve always been really fascinated with his balls.
“In conversation with Nic, he’s not really interested in naturalism and subtlety, which is what everyone goes for. He goes for big choices and insanity, and it’s just so cool to see someone dare to do something different over and over again. When you watch a reel of all of his work, nobody has a reel like that. Nobody. As I said earlier, I’ve gone the opposite way. I’m always going for the more subtle choice. I try to find some way to make a character meld with me and do just enough to tell the story. Sure, I change body language and cadence for characters, but I’m always looking for subtlety. And Nic is not.”
And, Joel revealed that working with Nicolas, 59, exceeded all of his expectations.
He said: “So when you work like Nic does, you risk missing here and there, but when you hit on something like he often does, you get these genius characters that go down in history. So he did not disappoint in ‘Sympathy for the Devil’. Our first day of rehearsal in Vegas, I knocked on his door, and when he opened it, he had pink hair…. And he was like, ‘My wildcat ran away for the third time.’ So it just carried on from there.
“I then got a tour of his house, and he was like, ‘That’s my reptile manager.’ And then we went down to the basement to rehearse for the first time, and he was completely off-book on the entire script. He’d already spent countless hours working on the script to get to a point where he knew it by heart on the first day of rehearsal. So he’s a singular artist, and that’s why I pinched myself when I got to spend a month in a car with him, just soaking up his genius and lunacy.”

Jason Momoa will ‘always have a home at DC Studios’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa will “always have a home at DC” Studios, even if it’s “the end of the journey” for Aquaman.
Jason, 44, recently admitted that the future of the ‘Aquaman’ franchise is “not looking too good” and while Peter Safran, the co-head of DC Studios, hinted that ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ could be the end of the road for his character, he insisted he wants to work with Jason again on other projects.
He told The Independent: “When I think of Jason in this role, he is the definitive Aquaman. He’s redefined it.… It’s really been an 11- or 12-year journey for him — a lot of the audience doesn’t know that he was cast so long ago. It’s kind of redefined him. When he took this role he was known as Khal Drogo, and now he’s really Aquaman.
“[I hope fans] will really be here to support him [Momoa] in this journey. If it’s the end of the journey, fine. If it goes on, that’s also fine, but I think it has meant so much to him. The way director James [Wan] crafted this second film, it feels like a very complete story when you watch the two films together.
“We’ll see what happens with him beyond it. I know that Jason will always have a home at DC, and at Warner Bros. In fact, his next movie is ‘Minecraft’.”
Meanwhile, at a fan event in Los Angeles recently, Jason told director Wan: “This might be the last time we’re up on the stage together, it’s been a long journey. It’s been 12 years playing this character, the longest I ever played a character through so much.”
He added to Entertainment Tonight: “The truth of it is — I mean, if the audience loves it, then there’s a possibility. But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.’”

Rowan Atkinson lookalike to offer Love Actually-style wrapping service

OHMYGOSSIP — A Rowan Atkinson lookalike will be offering a free gift wrapping service on Thursday (21.12.23).
Nigel Dixon will be paying homage to the famous ‘Love Actually’ scene in which overzealous store assistant Rufus goes through an elaborate wrapping ritual for Harry (Alan Rickman) at London Luton Airport (LLA) to highlight airport guidance, which advises against packing gift-wrapped presents in hand luggage as there are additional screening requirements.
The service includes bespoke wrapping paper – featuring a snowflake motif made from an aeroplane formation – tags, ribbons and extras including lavender, cinnamon sticks and dried flowers.
The festive offering has been launched amid a study which found snow globes, crackers, marzipan, mincemeat and brandy butter – which is classed as a liquid – are the most confiscated festive items, much to the surprise of almost a third (30%) of passengers, who were unaware of airport security advice against packing festive items in their luggage.
Clare Armstrong, Head of Guest Experience at London Luton Airport said: “Given the high number of wrapped presents we see in security each year, we realised many of our passengers are unaware of the possibility that they may need to be opened for inspection. So, the idea for our gift wrap service was born to create a fun experience for passengers, while minimising any unwanted delays or stress when travelling this festive season.”
The service will be available in Aelia Duty Free.
