Freddie Fox is the new voice of Beano's Dennis the Menace

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Fox is to voice Dennise the Menace in the new CBBC series based on the iconic Beano character.
The 27-year-old actor – the young brother of actress Emilia Fox – will bring to life the mischievous schoolboy in the CGI animation which will hit screens in late 2017 and as a “life-long fan” of the comic he is thrilled to get the role.
Freddie said: “As a life-long fan of Dennis, I am honoured to voice him for a new generation. I am so excited to be carrying on the red and black striped legacy of a character adored for his mischievousness, energy, live in the moment attitude and full-on imagination. To borrow Dennis’ catchphrase, ‘This is going to be BLAM!’ ”
‘The Three Musketeers’ star has already started recording his lines as Dennis.
The iconic Beano comic book characters are to appear in 52, 11-minute episodes which will see 10-year-old prankster Dennis and his equally naughty dog and best pal Gnasher wreak havoc on the residents of Beano Town in the co-production between CBBC and Beano Studios, a new business set up by publishers DC Thomson as part of a relaunch of the Beano as a global entertainment network for kids including the fun-packed Beano.com website.
‘Dennis and Gnasher: Unleashed!’ will follow the duo and a gang of friends as they get into scrapes in a world full of action packed adventure where rules just get in the way.
The gang, which includes familiar friends alongside some brand new characters, will battle with the boring conventions of the adult world and Dennis’ life-long adversary Walter, who is forever trying to ruin his fun.
Speaking about what’s in store for kids, CBBC Channel Controller Cheryl Taylor said: “Dennis and Gnasher have been unleashing their own particular brand of mischief on CBBC for many years and their ardent fans will be delighted by this wonderful new series from two of the UK’s most notorious rascals.”
Working with BAFTA and Emmy award winning animators Jellyfish Pictures, the series is directed by Boris Hiestand whose previous credits include the ‘Harry Potter’ films, ‘Asterix and the Vikings’, ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ and ‘Pirates’.
The weekly Beano comic – which features an array of other hilarious characters such as Roger the Dodger, Minnie the Minx and Bananaman – is on sale every week with a new design and the yearly Beano Annual still remains the UK’s best-selling annual book.

Jane Beedle: It doesn't matter if Great British Bake Off hosts can't bake

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Great British Bake Off’ finalist Jane Beedle doesn’t think it matters if the show’s new co-hosts have no baking skills.
The baking competition’s 2016 contestant has given her opinion on Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig taking over from Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc for the new series of the popular show on Channel 4 and she doesn’t have any problem with the fact the ‘Mighty Boosh’ star and 58-year-old comedienne might not know much about cake.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Friday (17.03.17), she said: “I don’t think it matters if they can bake or not I’m not sure whether Mel and Sue could bake. They could eat! They do like a slice a cake and as long as you eat and enjoy it I think [they’ll] be absolutely fine.”
Selasi Gbormittah – who also competed on the show when it was on the BBC – wasn’t shocked by the choice of presenters and she thinks Noel, 43, will be a great addition because he’ll provide much-needed humour in the intense baking tent.
She said: “It’s not surprising news to be fair because they are both really good presenters in their field and you’ve got Noel Fielding who is very funny which is what we need in the tent, or the new bakers need in the tent.”
And she says people need to give him and Sandi a chance before they “knock” them.
Speaking about their lack of baking experience, Selasi added: “Well that’s his new challenge now so we just have to wait and see, again we can’t knock it till we try it so we just have to wait and see what they’ve both got to offer. And you’ve got Sandi who is of course Danish, so she will be good with her pastries. She has got that behind her and Noel of course we just have to wait and see but I think they will ace it.”
‘The Great British Bake Off’ will move to Channel 4 from the BBC later this year and will see Paul Hollywood joined by ‘Great British Menu’ judge Prue Leith in place of Mary Berry.

Emma Watson's pep talks

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Watson gave herself pep talks before singing in ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
The 26-year-old actress plays Belle in the live-action remake of the classic Disney movie and had to psych herself up before laying down the songs for the movie.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “I was convinced that I was Florence Foster Jenkins.
“It took some conversations with myself in the mirror a few mornings. ‘Get it together, Watson!'”
Meanwhile, Emma previously revealed she had to go to ‘Belle Bootcamp’ to learn how to ride a horse, sing and dance for her role in the movie.
She said: “With a movie like ‘Beauty and the Beast’ it’s like three months prep, it’s like three or four months shooting, it’s in the UK. I had to be there to do that and as I was saying before it’s like you can’t half-arse a project like this, you know, you’re in or you’re out. And I was like I’ve kinda got to be all in and so this was really where my heart was and I knew I had to fully commit and make sure that I did this.
“I’ve never ridden a horse before [making this film] and so I was like, ‘OK.’ This is what I mean about the prep. I mean I really went into like essentially a ‘Belle Bootcamp’. I was riding three or four times a week, singing four times a week, dancing three or four times a week. I was manic, I was so hectic but I loved it.”
However, Emma admits singing on screen was the scariest.
She said: “Oh my god I can’t even tell you how nerve-wracking it was, there were a few moments when I had a real crisis of confidence … Once I got into it I just loved it. I want to do a musical every day for the rest of my life. There is so much joy in it and like the music is just … I don’t know about you but when I hear that song ‘Beauty and the Beast’ I just melt.”

Stephen Daldry to work on film about hero Olympic Syrian swimmer

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Daldry has confirmed he’s doing a film about an Olympic Syrian refugee swimmer.
The 56-year-old award-winning filmmaker – whose previous credits include ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘The Crown’ – has teamed up with Eric Fellner, co-chair of Working Title Films, to find a screenwriter to work on the project based on teenage swimmer Yusra Mardini.
Mardini, 18, fled war-torn Syria in 2015 with her sister Sarah and competed in the 2016 Rio Games.
But their journey wasn’t as easy as stepping on a plane – they attempted to sail from Turkey to Greece when their boat capsized and were the only swimmers on board who could save their fellow passengers.
Speaking about what makes Syrian swimmer Yusra Mardini so special that a film should be made about her remarkable feat, Daldry told the Daily Mail newspaper: “She’s an amazing woman. One story must speak for many. What we do know is a catastrophic situation in their town made them flee war. They made an extraordinary journey across Europe, and the one skill she [Yusra] has – swimming – was what saved her life.”
Mardini competed for the official refugee team in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly at last year’s Olympic Games held in Rio and currently lives in Berlin.
Now the search is on to find the right person to portray her in the film, of which the film title is not yet known.
Daldry explained: “It’s rather important that we find someone who can act and swim.”
But when it comes to finding young unknown stars to play star-making roles, Daldry has a proven track record as he picked Jamie Bell to play the lead in 2000 comedy-drama film ‘Billy Elliot’.
And not one to shy away from tackling taboo subjects, whether it’s boys becoming ballet dancers or refugees becoming Olympic swimmers, Daldry added: “Refugees are normal people without homes. This is just a great story about a kid with an ambition, just like Billy Elliot.”
And it’s not the only film Daldry is involved in which involves refugees – in the autumn he will direct a National Theatre production about Good Chance refugee theatre in Calais. He says he wants people to connect to “these incredibly brave people”.

'Aquaman's release date pushed back two months

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Aquaman’s release date has been pushed back to December 2018.
The hotly-anticipated film – which stars Jason Momoa as the titular character – will now be released on December 21, 2018, rather than its previous October release date.
It will now go head to head with Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie, taking the place of ‘Avatar 2’, which director James Cameron recently revealed wouldn’t be able to meet the planned deadline.
And despite having to wait a couple of extra months to see Momoa as the fictional superhero, director James Wan tried to soften the blow when he took to social media following the news.
He simply wrote: “Merry Christmas”.
Meanwhile, leading man Momoa previously teased he’s “never seen anything like” ‘Aquaman’.
He said: “I read the ‘Aquaman’ script and let me just put it this way, I’ve never seen a movie that’s anything like this. It’s going to be a world that you’ve never seen before, which is really cool.
“We went to space, we travelled all over different worlds, but we never went underwater. So it’s just a really cool spin on what’s below and it uses a lot of great movies that I already love – whether that be ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ to ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Lord of the Rings’ to ‘Romancing the Stone’.
“It has a lot of really cool adventure, it’s funny and heroic, and there’s a lot of different characters and a lot of different worlds that we get to go to. So I’ve never really seen anything like it.”
And Jason – who previously made an appearance as Aquaman in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and will do so again in the upcoming ensemble movie ‘Justice League’ – admitted the movie was “the best moment” of his career.
He shared: “I haven’t been an actor who’s been able to pick and choose roles, and being a family man, it’s been about putting food on the table … This has been the best moment of my career because the superhero roles are letting me get the other roles I want.”
‘Aquaman’ – which also stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe and Nicole Kidman – is now slated for release on December 21, 2018.

Henry Cavill joins Mission: Impossible 6

OHMYGOSSIP — Henry Cavill has joined the cast of ‘Mission: Impossible 6’.
The 33-year-old actor will join Tom Cruise in the sixth instalment of the action movie franchise, after exchanging a series of comments on an Instagram post shared by the project’s director Christopher McQuarrie.
Taking to the photo sharing app late on Thursday (16.03.17), the 48-year-old director posted a photo of himself standing on some rocks with the caption: “Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure. (sic)”
Cavill then responded in the comments: “How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair….. (sic)”
McQuarrie quickly responded to the star to make sure he was well aware of the perilous tasks that he may be required to take part in as part of his new role.
He wrote: “@henrycavill excellent. Just a few caveats: must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good? (sic)”
Cavill replied: “@christophermcquarrie only if I get to fly for real. (sic)”
McQuarrie then wrote: “@henrycavill I do believe I specified practical stunts. You in? (sic)”
And Cavill said: “Oh ok…..I’m in! (sic)”
To round off the public job offer, McQuarrie replied in a way that emulated the movie franchise in question, as he said: “@henrycavill Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds. (sic)”
‘Mission: Impossible 6’ will see McQuarrie return as director and writer after he previously made his franchise debut on 2015’s fifth instalment ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’.
The project will also see the return of cast members Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jeremy Renner.
McQuarrie is producing alongside Cruise, Don Granger, J.J. Abrams and Skydance Production’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg.
‘Mission: Impossible 6’ is expected to hit theatres in July 2018.

Ricky Wilson to do I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Wilson wants to go on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman thinks it would be good research for the group’s next album if he and his bandmates – Simon Rix, Andrew ‘Whitey’ White, Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines and Vijay Mistry – all signed up for a different reality show, but his own limited skill set doesn’t leave him with many options.
He said: “Guys, if you had to go on a reality TV show, which would you choose? I’d do Jungle because I couldn’t do anything that involves being a chef and I could never do ‘Strictly’ because my toes would hurt too much.
“This is my idea for our next album, we time it right and all go on a different show at the same time, reality TV works for people.”
While Ricky is up for going in the jungle, Peanut and Whitey would both want to appear on ‘Coach Trip’, while Simon opted for ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and Vijay went for ‘Come Dine With Me’.
Ricky previously served as a coach on two series of ‘The Voice’ and is confident he’d be able to win the show if he took part as a contestant.
Asked how far he thinks he’d have got as a contestant, he said: “I probably wouldn’t have got into the edit… I don’t know, I’d like to think I would have won the s**t out of it.”
Between tours, the ‘I Predict A Riot’ singer used to help out in a friend’s antique shop but he doesn’t think that means he’d be very successful on ‘Bargain Hunt’.
He told Q magazine: “I don’t see the point of ‘Bargain Hunt’ because if you win, you probably only get about £9, but yes, I did help out. My gran was an antiques dealer, but I’m no Lovejoy.”

Steph and Dom for Strictly Come Dancing?

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses want to sign ‘Gogglebox’s Steph and Dom for the new series.
The team behind the BBC One programme are reportedly keen to secure the outspoken couple for the latin and ballroom show as they think they could be a hit with viewers and would provide humorous dance sequences like politician Ed Balls did during last year’s series.
A source said: “They’re great characters and everyone loves watching them just when they’re sat on their sofa.
“Dom has the potential to provide great routines like Ed did and Steph would be fantastic going up against the judges.”
The couple will perform as Cher and Meatloaf in ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’ over the weekend and ‘Strictly’ bosses will no doubt be tuning in to see if they would be good for the show.
The insider added to The Sun newspaper: “They’re definitely on the list and this weekend’s show is a great way to see how they look on stage.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Gogglebox’ stars previously opened up about their home life, admitting they sleep in separate bedrooms.
They said: “We sleep in different bedrooms. If you want your marriage to last, we heartily recommend it – we’ve been doing it for 15 years. We both have different sleeping patterns, so this is the best way for both of us.”
The pair also debunked rumours they are always drunk as they are regularly seen having a tipple on the show.
They added: “Despite what people think, we’re not permanently hammered. We don’t hide the fact we love a drink, but we’re not alcoholics, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to function. Why should you be embarrassed if you like a tipple in the evenings?
“Filming ‘Gogglebox’ has become our date night. We’ve been on it three years and we love it just as much as at the beginning, it’s our downtime. We film three nights a week – we usually start at 3pm and don’t finish ’til late evening.”

Noel Fielding and Sandy Toksvig to host Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will host the new series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The ‘Mighty Boosh’ star hailed his new role as a “dream come true”, and he’s looking forward to working alongside the ‘Q.I.’ host when the popular culinary contest moves to Channel 4.
He said in a statement: “‘GBBO’ is one of my favourite shows. I’ve always loved brightly coloured cakes and Sandi Toksvig so this is a dream come true for me! It’s basically the double.”
And Sandi hailed the chance to take over from departed hosts Mel & Sue an “extraordinary honour” – though she’s worried about matching flamboyant Noel in the sartorial stakes.
She said: “It is an extraordinary honour to part of this national treasure of a show.
“Noel Fielding is one of the nicest guys in show business. The first time I met him I felt like I had met a rather wayward cousin whose take on the world made me laugh.
“The only down side is that he has much better dress sense that I do. I spend my daytimes on Channel 4 already so it will be a treat to be there in the evenings.
“I am so delighted to be working with Love Productions and Channel 4 on this best of British show.”
As was expected, food writer Prue Leith is taking over as a judge alongside Paul Hollywood following the departure of Mary Berry.
She said: “I am just so thrilled to be joining Paul, Sandi and Noel on the biggest show on TV and I cannot wait to see what the real stars of the show – the bakers – are going to create for us. It is such an honour to be part of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ team.”
Paul, the only remaining face from the BBC show, is delighted with the new line-up.
He said: “I could not be more delighted by who will be joining me on the show. Prue is a hugely respected culinary legend and Sandi and Noel are warm and utterly hilarious. I cannot wait to get back in the tent with the bakers.”
Channel 4 bosses are equally pleased with their new signings.
Chief Creative Officer Jay Hunt said: “‘The Great British Bake Off’ will have a uniquely Channel 4 take when it airs this autumn. Paul and Prue have huge amounts of expertise and warmth.
“I’m looking forward to seeing them putting our great new bunch of amateur bakers through their paces. Sandi and Noel bring a fresh wit and quirkiness to the tent. It’s just the sort of innovative lineup audiences expect from Channel 4.”

Craig David for Celebrity Juice

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig David is being lined up for ‘Celebrity Juice’ next year.
Keith Lemon – portrayed by Leigh Francis – has admitted he’d love to persuade the ‘Walking Away’ hitmaker to be a guest on the boozy panel show but doesn’t think it’s an option right now because he’s focused on making his music comeback a success.
Speaking to his close friend Fearne Cotton, who is filling in for Lorraine Kelly, on the breakfast show ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (16.03.17), he said: “You’re friends with someone I’d love to come on ‘Celebrity Juice’, Craig David.
“I’ve asked him a couple of times, I think the last time I saw him was at your wedding and said ‘will you come on?’, and he said ‘I’ve got some music dropping soon’.”
Fearne – who is team leader on the panel show alongside Holly Willoughby – replied: “I think he will, I think he’s been so busy with his comeback but maybe next year.”
Keith thinks nabbing the handsome singer for the show would also “put to rest” a lot of speculation that the pair are at loggerheads since they fell out 13 years ago.
He added: “It would be good wouldn’t it? I think it would put a lot of things to rest, publicly and we’ll have just a great time.”
Keith and Craig famously fell out when the ginger-haired comedian wore a rubber mask impression of the singer on his show ‘Bo’Selecta!’ as his other alter-ego Avid Merrion.
However, although Craig felt “humiliated”, they managed to bury the hatchet three years ago when they bumped into one another at Fearne’s wedding to Jesse Wood.
She said: “At our wedding you really did make up as you hadn’t really seen each other.”
Keith added: “Yeah we hugged it out and said it was all banter and stuff. I said ‘hey it wasn’t even me, it was that other guy Avid Merrion.”

Melanie Sykes pranks shoppers for Comic Relief

OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie Sykes played a prank on shoppers as part of a Red Nose Day campaign.
The 46-year-old television and radio presenter wreaked havoc among customers at a Sainsbury’s store in Fulham, London, which saw her allow the public to carefully position the final red nose toy on a pyramid sculpture.
The perfectly-built model was cleverly programmed to collapse as soon as the final and ultra-rare Silver Nose was placed at the pinnacle of the tower containing one thousand noses, which left a number of consumers red faced by the blunder.
Although the gag was to encourage people to buy one of the nine new character Red Noses launching this year to help raise money for Comic Relief, the brunette beauty felt “a little guilty” seeing some people’s reactions when they thought they had ruined the display.
Melanie said: “I had so much fun working with Sainsbury’s on this prank for Red Nose Day. People really didn’t have a clue what was going on. There were times when I felt a little guilty for how bad some people felt as the sculpture collapsed! They were so relieved when they realised it was part of a set up.
“Having fun, making people laugh and doing good is what Red Nose Day continues to be about, so it was fantastic to help promote that message and make some mischief with colleagues and customers – all for a good cause.”
The supermarket enjoyed partnering with Melanie to carry out the practical joke.
The store’s Sponsorship Manager, Pete Ward, said: “Melanie was great fun to work with for Red Nose Day, bringing her warm, friendly personality and good humour to both our colleagues and customers.
“We are proud partners of Comic Relief and last Red Nose Day … we’re hoping that our efforts this year will continue to make a really big difference to those in need, both in the UK and across the world’s poorest communities.”
All Red Nose Day products are available to buy in Sainsbury’s stores and online, and will see profits from each sale go towards Comic Relief to help change the lives of people in the UK and in poverty-stricken countries across the globe.

Danniella Westbrook 'sacked' from EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook has been “sacked” from ‘EastEnders’.
The 43-year-old actress reprised her role as mega bitch Sam Mitchell briefly last year when her alter ego’s mother Peggy Mitchell (Dame Barbara Windsor) tragically passed away and, although she’d love to return in the near future, she thinks she’s now been permanently axed.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: “Always, love ‘EastEnders’. The last time I went back fans [wanted me back] because [Sam’s] a superbitch and there’s good tension between her and Sharon [Mitchell, played by Letitia Dean] and all that stuff. And now because you haven’t got the Pauline [Fowler, portrayed by Wendy Richard], Peggy and Pat [Butcher, Pam St. Clement] types older characters and it needs Sam, Sharon and Roxy but they just won’t do it. They just will not do it. They have said I’m sacked, I’m this and that, they seem to use me for PR and not for the work.”
The blonde beauty is currently in Marbella, Spain – where she spends the winter months – but hasn’t had the best time recently as she was mugged by two men on motorbikes last week.
The actress was walking back to her apartment earlier this week when the villains raced by on their bikes and grabbed her designer bag from her shoulders.
She said recently: “F***ing hell, I’m shook up. I’m an old girl now. It could have been a lot worse. I was just walking along with my bag on my shoulder, kerbside, and I wasn’t in the road. They must have obviously gone past a few times.
“I’m literally walking along one minute on the phone and I just felt something pull me. It was like when someone pushes you to go by fast. As it pulled me I said, ‘Pardon me’ and I just saw my bag starting to go. I started to get half dragged and I just put my arm out and the bag just come off my arm and they just went.”
Danniella – who has had cash flow issues over the past year after a battle with septicaemia forced her out of work – not only lost her expensive Prada bag in the attack but also 600 Euros, a phone, an expensive watch and some clothes.

Paul O'Grady set to replace pal Cilla Black as new host of Blind Date

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul O’Grady has been announced as new host of ‘Blind Date’.
The 61-year-old comedian will take over the role of matchmaker from his late friend Cilla Black, who fronted the show for 18 years, when the popular dating show returns to screens later this year, following a revamp, on its new home Channel 5.
In an official statement issued by Channel 5, Paul said: “‘Blind Date’ is an incredibly special family show which brought laughter, tears and joy to TV viewers throughout out the land. I am honoured to present the brand new series and after speaking to Channel 5, I know the series is in safe hands. I can’t wait to see if we can find love.”
The classic game show was fronted by Cilla for almost two decades from 1985 until 2003 and, although a reboot has been in the pipeline for some time, she tragically passed away in 2015 following a fatal fall at her Spanish home.
Renowned for presenting ‘The Paul O’Grady Show’, the fellow Scouser has beat the likes of Vicky Pattison, Olly Murs, Georgia May Foote and Helen Flanagan to the job as they were among those rumoured to have been in talks about taking over as the presenter of the dating series.
A source previously revealed: “Blind Date is the original dating show and it’s huge news to bring it back.
“It’s a classic format that will be rebooted to make it young, sexy and modern. Expect sparks to fly. In an age of Tinder, you have got to earn the right to love on this show.”
Bosses are keen to keep some of the “traditional” elements of the previous run but have decided to give it an updated twist to appeal to a “new generation of viewers”.
It’s expected to run on Friday nights – rather than its traditional Saturday night slot – and will consist of six to eight episodes per series for the first few installments.
The programme sees three singletons grilled by a member of the opposite sex in order to find the perfect match without being able to see them. The new couple then pick an envelope with their holiday destination – abroad or in the UK – inside and will spend the next week trying to get to know one another.
Channel 5 have bought the rights to the dating show but they will have some stiff competition from ITV as it has ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘Meet The Parents’.
‘Blind Date’ proved a hit with viewers for years but the plug was pulled in 2003 when Cilla announced she was quitting during a live episode following a drop in ratings.
It is set to be filmed at London Studios on the South Bank, where the original series was shot, and be produced by So Television, which makes the ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and Stellify Media, a firm part-owned by Sony Pictures Television.

Bill Condon: I'll see Lindsay Lohan in Little Mermaid

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Condon would welcome Lindsay Lohan with open arms to play Ariel in the live adaptation of ‘Little Mermaid’.
The 30-year-old actress has begged Disney – the company behind her breakout role in 1998’s ‘The Parent Trap’ – to cast her as the flame-haired princess in the upcoming remake of the all-singing all-dancing animated children’s film, and now the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ filmmaker has responded saying he would like to have her in the lead part.
Asked about her plea, he told Vulture magazine, he said: “I know! It was sweet, It was very sweet of her. I hope she gets to make that movie.
“I feel like I was so lucky in getting this crown jewel, but I’ll see her in ‘Little Mermaid’, absolutely.”
Last month, the ‘Freaky Friday’ star uploaded a collage of herself alongside Ariel and accompanied it with: “I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid (sic)”
But she wasn’t just trying to bag herself a job with the movie giant, as she also requested that her sister Ali sing the theme tune and Bill Condon be director, while fitness expert Kristen Graham is cast as antagonist Ursula.
She added: “@disney approve that #billcondon directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack. also @kgrahamsfb plays Ursula. Simply because, she is the best. ake one. @disneystudios (sic)”
It was revealed in May last year that Disney had selected ‘The Little Mermaid’ to be its next animation to get the live action following the release of 2010’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’, 2014’s ‘Maleficent’ – based on ‘Sleeping Beauty’ – and 2015’s ‘Cinderella’.
But, since then, details on the production have been few and far between, although it is believed Lin-Manuel Miranda will work with Oscar-winning songwriter Alan Menken on the music.
The soundtrack will feature a mix of pre-existing songs from Disney’s classically animated take on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale.
Marc Platt will produce the film with Miranda working under Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production.
Miranda is known to be a huge fan of the animated film – which tells the story of mermaid Ariel who dreams of becoming a human – and named his newborn son Sebastian after the crab character.

Jeremy McConnell arrested on suspicion of assault

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy McConnell has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.
The 27-year-old model is in police custody waiting to be questioned after he “voluntarily attended” a Merseyside police station over claims he assaulted former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress and on/off girlfriend Stephanie Davis.

Whilst a source added to The Sun newspaper: “Jeremy has flown back to Liverpool for questioning. He is continuing to cooperate with officers as they investigate the claim further. He’s hoping to fly back to Ireland later this evening.”

They said: “Jeremy denies any wrong doing, however he is fully cooperating with the police in their investigations.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Fans have been given a first look into ‘Early Man’.
Director Nick Park has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the animated prehistoric comedy adventure, which stars characters voiced by the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston and Maisie Williams.
Nick said: “Today we get to meet Dug’s tribe, a loveable bunch of misfits voiced by some exceptional British talent. They’re essentially a group of inept cavemen and women including Treebor, played by Richard Ayoade, a gentle giant scared of his own shadow; Magma, Treebor’s no nonsense mother voiced by Selena Griffiths and Mark Williams as Barry, whose best friend is a rock. Chief Bobnar, voiced by the brilliant Timothy Spall, leads the pack as their long-suffering leader, and father figure to his tribe of idiotic brutes.”
Nick has teamed up with Aardman Animations, who created the likes of the ‘Shaun the Sheep Movie’, ‘Chicken Run’ and ‘Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’, and their new film ‘Early Man’ promises to be a hit just like the others.
The movie – which also stars Timothy Spall as Chief Bobnar as well as comedian Richard Ayoade, funnyman Johnny Vegas and Simon Greenall as members of the tribe – follows the story of a brave young caveman called Dug (Redmayne), who teams up with best pal Hognob and the rest of their tribe to fight the enemy Lord Nooth (Hiddleston) who threatens their very existence.
Meanwhile, Hiddleston previously took to Instagram to announce he was working on the film.
The photo was captioned: “Been working with the great Nick Park and Aardman on their hilarious new film, @earlymanmovie. He is absolutely as brilliant as you might expect. Sometimes he makes me laugh so much I have to leave the sound studio for five minutes and calm down and have another go. (sic)”
‘Early Man’ is slated for release on January 26, 2018.
