I’m A Celebrity bosses silence rumours Mike Thalassitis will compete on the show

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’ bosses have silenced rumours Mike Thalassitis will take part in this year’s show.
The ‘Love Island’ hunk and his fellow reality star pal Johnny Mitchell were recently believed to be in the line up to star in the upcoming series of the popular ITV programme, which is presented by comedy duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
However, a source has revealed rumours the dark-haired lotharios will undertake bush tucker trials are untrue, and it has been reported that neither males will compete on the show because they will add “nothing new” to the forthcoming season.
Speaking to the Daily Star Online about the possible contestants, an insider said: “We accept that some of the stars of ‘Love Island’ have now become celebrities thanks to the show – but they’re not for us.
“Viewers have only just recently seen them for seven weeks in a reality show – they’d add nothing new to our show.”
However, it is believed former England rugby union star Ben Cohen is another name said to be in the mix after he showed how “popular” he is with viewers following his appearance on BBC One’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ back in 2013.
A separate insider previously said: “Ben’s name was straight on the list for this year. He is popular with viewers, as his ‘Strictly’ stint showed, and appeals to sports fans. He’s also a gay icon so he ticks a lot of boxes.
“It looks like the producers might get their man.”
Other stars who have been tipped to enter the jungle to fight for the title of King or Queen of the Jungle also include, Ryan Thomas, after his brother Adam came in the top three during last year’s show, Rebekah Vardy, Craig Charles, and former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Danielle Armstrong.

Montana Brown pushing Kem Cetinay to propose to Amber Davies

OHMYGOSSIP — Montana Brown keeps pushing Kem Cetinay to propose to Amber Davies.
The 21-year-old beauty thoroughly enjoyed watching the pair become inseparable on the ITV2 hit show ‘Love Island’ last month and would now like to see the couple – who won the show and split the £50,000 prize money – get engaged and tie the knot.
Speaking to Star Magazine, the brunette beauty said: “I keep pushing to do it, but he’s like ‘oh stop it!’ But yeah, they will be the first, for sure. I’ve spoken to Kem and Amber. I’m so happy and proud of them. By the end, Amber had really matured and I was closer to her than ever. She’s become such an amazing person.
“I’d be happy to see any of them. It was such a good journey and I love all them.”
Unlike many of the other contestants who have been rumoured to be in talks to star on other reality TV shows, Montana is done with it now claiming fame is “overwhelming.”
She said: “That’s my streak over and done with. It’s really overwhelming, but it’s so nice to hear that everyone supported me.
“Ideally, I’ll get into entertainment presenting. I’ve always wanted to do that and it’s a real passion of mine. Now, hopefully, I can get my teeth into it.”
Recently, Montana split from her ‘Love Island’ boyfriend Alex Beattie but said it was “nice” when they saw each other at the wrap party.
She said: “We’ve both had so many different opportunities. He’s taking off with his modelling career and really smashing it. He’s been so busy. He’s back up north now, but we saw each other at the wrap party, which was nice.”

Ben Affleck’s Batman will go back to comic book

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck said ‘Justice League’ will portray Batman as the Caped Crusader in the comics.
The 45-year-old actor is the latest star to take on the role of the popular superhero following in the footsteps of Christian Bale – who played the titular character in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy – and Affleck has admitted the upcoming ‘blockbuster will see more of the detective’s comic book side.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actor said: “This is more in keeping with the canon of how Batman’s usually been portrayed, and how he’s portrayed vis-à-vis the ‘Justice League’ in the comics.
“This is more the Batman you would find if you opened up your average Batman comic book.”
Affleck was first seen as the character in the poorly received ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and the actor admits he felt the film moved away from the “traditional Batman”.
He said: “‘Batman v Superman’ departed a little bit from the traditional Batman.
“He started out with all this rage directed at Superman, because of his co-workers who had died in the fight Superman had with Zod [‘Man of Steel’].
“He was holding on to a lot of anger, in a little bit of an irrational way, whereas this is a much more traditional Batman. He’s heroic. He does things in his own way, but he wants to save people, help people.”
Affleck is set to reprise the role alongside Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Ezra Miller’s The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg in ‘Justice League’.
The plot for the new movie is still unknown but it will see the team of heroes working together to stop a threat to Earth.
‘Justice League’ is slated to be released this November.

Ron Howard reveals The Empire will feature in Han Solo film

OHMYGOSSIP — Ron Howard has revealed The Empire will feature in the new ‘Han Solo’ film.
The Academy Award-winning filmmaker took over directing duties on ‘Star Wars’ spin-off story – which will revolve around the early days of the smuggler – in June and dropped a huge hint on Wednesday (16.08.17) that the evil dictatorship will play a part in the movie’s storyline when he shared a picture of the familiar helmet worn by its Imperial soldiers on Twitter.
Alongside the image of the black armour inside a deserted bridge of a spaceship, he penned: “The Empire Looms Large. (sic)”
The tweet sent fans into a frenzy and speculation is now rife that the The Empire’s battle station, the Death Star, will feature in the much-anticipated film.
However, it’s left some fans scratching their heads because Han Solo didn’t know about the giant space construction until after he met Luke Skywalker and Ben Kenobi in the original 1977 ‘Star Wars’, set when he was much older.
Meanwhile, it’s not the first time Howard has teased insight about the forthcoming film.
Ron also posted a picture on his Twitter account of a gold-plated R2 unit rather than its iconic blue bodywork and wrote: “These droids can be so damn intractable. But we’ll go until we get it right! #UntitledHanSoloMovie (sic)”
The ‘Han Solo’ spin-off movie is set to follow a younger version of the titular character, with Alden Ehrenreich taking over the iconic role from Harrison Ford.
Han and his wookiee sidekick Chewbacca will be seen first meeting Lando Calrissian – played by Donald Glover – and they will also encounter Woody Harrelson’s alter ego Beckett, who is believed to be a mentor to young Han who guides him on his journey to becoming a space smuggler.
‘Star Wars’ regular Warwick Davis has been cast in the upcoming ‘Han Solo’ movie but it is not known what role he will take on in the movie.
The untitled Han Solo film will be released in May 2018.

David Lowery: Peter Pan is challenging

OHMYGOSSIP — David Lowery has said directing Disney’s live-action remake of ‘Peter Pan’ is a “challenging project”.
The 36-year-old filmmaker has confirmed the script is now “underway” for the live-action version of Disney’s beloved animated classic, about the boy who never grew up, and while he admits it is tough at times, he insists the project is “going well”.
Speaking to Den of Geek, the filmmaker said: “The script is underway. We’ve written about a draft-and-a-half at this point.
“We probably have a few more drafts to go before everyone feels it’s at a place where it can get made.
“It’s going well, but it’s a challenging project for me, not only that it’s a story that I’ve loved from my childhood, but that it’s one of the crown jewels of Disney’s animation empire.
“And there are certain expectations as to what a Disney ‘Peter Pan’ movie is to be.
“‘Peter Pan’ is a beloved property. It’s a property that was brought to the screen many, many times before, so one has to not only justify the reasons why one might make a ‘Peter Pan’ movie in 2018, 2019 or whatever, but you also have to do justice to the source material.
“So, you can’t be a revisionist, but you also cannot be redundant, and that is a very challenging process.
“I think we can do it, but we are being very careful. If it has to be done, it has to be done right. Until we have that version of it, we’ll keep working on the script.”
The story of ‘Peter Pan’ was written by J.M.Barrie and follows the story of siblings Wendy, John and Michael Darling who are taken to the magical world of Neverland by the flying boy Peter and pixie Tinkerbell.
Originally, the story was adapted into the beloved Disney animation back in 1953 and has since had numerous film and stage adaptations.
It’s the second Disney live-action remake for Lowery after he reimagined the 1977 classic ‘Pete’s Dragon’ last year, and he said the new film is “very different”.
He said: “That’s very different from ‘Pete’s Dragon’ where no one really cared – I mean, some people cared.
“There were definitely fans of the original, but it was definitely an under-the-radar Disney title, and we were able to make our own version without even going back to look at the original and no one was too worried about that.”

Stephen King’s IT director not a fan of original Tim Curry show

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘IT’ director Andres Muschietti is not a fan of the original adaptation of Stephen King’s novel.
The filmmaker is at the helm of the second screen version of King’s chilling novel about a child killer on the loose in an American town, and he’s admitted he didn’t love the 1990 TV mini-series starring Tim Curry as terrifying clown Pennywise because he wasn’t a child when it aired.
He told SFX magazine: “To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of the miniseries.
“I was not a child anymore when it came out in 1990. So my attachment was very much to the book and to the world of Stephen King more than the miniseries.”
Despite feeling detached from the mini-series, he appreciates it was “iconic” and it produced a young generation of horror fans, but thinks its most terrifying moments were summed up in two scenes.
He said: “I totally acknowledge how iconic that miniseries was for a generation. But also you have to say that it impacted that generation because they saw it with very young eyes as a TV movie or on VHS.
“A lot of people don’t remember the whole thing, but they are terrified of the iconic scenes of the clown behind the sheets in the beginning and the storm drain.”
And Muschietti – who made his name making the 2013 horror ‘Mama’ – is confident his forthcoming movie will go down well with older audiences because King, who has seen the new version, absolutely loved it and was “moved” by his interpretation of the book.
He said: “He sent me a personal note. When he saw it, we started exchanging emails.
“He said it exceeded his expectations. He was very moved. He loved it.”
‘IT’ comes out in the UK on September 8.

David Bautista: Daniel Craig sings showtunes on set

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Craig constantly “belts out showtunes” on set, according to Dave Bautista.
The two actors starred alongside each other in the 2015 James Bond movie ‘Spectre’ and despite having a serious demeanour in the franchise, Craig’s co-star said he is “very happy-go-lucky”.
Speaking to Shortlist magazine, Bautista, 48, said: “He’s not serious at all. He’s very happy-go-lucky – always smiling and belting out showtunes on-set.
“Yes, really. He has an amazing voice.”
The former WWE alumni is now best known for starring as Drax in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise and he will be reprising the role in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
Bautista will also be seen in the long-awaited sequel for ‘Blade Runner’ and he said it will “amaze”.
However, the actor has admitted his “non-disclosure” agreement for ‘Blade Runner 2049’ was “twice as thick” as his Marvel one.
He said: “I can say I’m a huge fan of the first one. And that this sequel will be amaze. Anything more than that and I’m in deep, deep trouble.
“To give you an idea, my non-disclosure agreement for ‘Blade Runner 2049’ was twice as thick as any Marvel one I’ve signed.”
The upcoming sequel, which is set to be released this November, has been helmed by Denis Villeneuve and although he always wanted to be the man to make the movie he felt a lot of pressure because he wanted to “honour” the Sir Ridley Scott original.
The Harrison Ford-led 1982 movie – based on Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’ – is considered to be one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made and deals with heavyweight topics, such as what it means to be alive.
Whilst details of the plot have largely remained under wraps, it is due to take place decades after the original which is why Ford, 75, will be seen as a much older version of his police operative character, android hunter Rick Deckard.
The impressive cast includes Ryan Gosling – who plays main protagonist, LAPD Officer K – Jared Leto, Lennie James, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass and Bautista.

Will Poulter’s ‘horrendous’ role

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Poulter went home “hating” himself every day after playing a “horrendous”, racist police officer in ‘Detroit’.
The 24-year-old actor takes on the grittier character of Philip Krauss, a police officer involved in the Algiers Motel incident of 1967, in which three African American men were killed during the 12th Street Riot.
Speaking at the European premiere at the Curzon Cinema, in London, on Wednesday (16.08.17) about what it was like playing his character, Poulter said: “(It was) horrendous, man. There wasn’t a day that I didn’t go home and didn’t kind of hate myself.
“But I had the unwavering support of an unbelievable cast who were so trusting and generous with me and I don’t take that for granted.
“I’m still stuck by how lucky I was because of that.”
The script is based on the events of the Algiers Motel incident during Detroit’s 1967 12th Street Riot in which three black teenage civilians were beaten and killed by police, whilst a further nine were badly injured.
Describing his character, Poulter said: “I think reprehensible is a good word to describe him. He virtually lacks empathy entirely and to approach a character like that was incredible uncomfortable, because adopting his psychology I couldn’t identify with even a single thing about him that I could respect or as much relate to so it was an uncomfortable place to be, but I think it was necessary in exposing these sorts of individuals and we need to continue to expose these individuals and ensure they don’t have a place in our society because the world is too dangerous.”
Poulter admitted the impact of the film’s hard-hitting storyline “remains to be seen”.
He added: “What is nice it seems to have sparked a lot of conversation around racism and how that might impact things legally speaking and hopefully it leads to a genuine change as far as dismantling systems of white supremacy and bettering the terms of social justice for people of colour.”
Many of the characters featured in the film are based on real people, including Melvin Dismukes (John Boyega) and Julie Hysell (Hannah Murray).
Director Kathryn Bigelow revealed she met with them and credits them with being “hugely responsible” for the way the movie developed.

Edgar Wright hints at Baby Driver sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Edgar Wright has some “cool ideas” for a possible ‘Baby Driver’ sequel.
The 43-year-old director helmed the widely acclaimed crime thriller, and while a follow-up movie has still to be confirmed, Edgar has revealed he’s open to the prospect.
He shared: “I’m not ruling out a sequel idea.
“It has been spoken about and I have some cool ideas, so we’ll see where that goes. Then I’ll be one of those franchise guys!”
Edgar also confessed to being surprised by the success of the movie, which has already grossed more than $167 million worldwide.
He admitted, too, that he’s “encouraged” to see an “original” film like ‘Baby Driver’ perform so well at the box office.
Speaking to Vulture, Edgar explained: “Even if I remove myself from the process, I’m just happy that it’s an original movie that’s done well.
“Getting an original movie made in this day and age, it seems at least five times harder, and maybe more, just because the majority of the studio effort is going into existing IP and franchises.
“Original films, by their very nature, become more of a gamble, and thus to see a studio take the gamble and have it pay off for them and for me is amazing. It makes me feel very encouraged and inspired that it did well.”
The British director subsequently called on movie studios to adopt a more open-minded attitude towards original films.
He explained: “It’s not that studios need to take more gambles on original movies. It’s that they should stop thinking about original movies as gambles.”

St. Vincent will direct a new adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray

OHMYGOSSIP — St. Vincent is set to direct a new film adaptation of ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’.
The 34-year-old musician – whose full name is Anne Erin ‘Annie’ Clark – has turned her hands to the movie industry with her upcoming project, which will see her assist with the creative process of the Lionsgate production, The Hollywood Reporter has reported.
David Burke is on hand to adapt Oscar Wilde’s 1890 classic novel, which depicts a selfish male who sells his soul in order to keep his beauty, although a portrait of him begins to age and show the signs of maturation, which his physical body cannot experience.
However, Burke’s version will replace the male protagonist with a female character.
And the project will mark the ‘Birth in Reverse’ hitmaker’s feature directorial debut, although the star has previously assisted with the making of the all-female production ‘XX’, which was inspired by her own traumatic eighth birthday that saw her whole family involved in a traffic incident, although they all remained uninjured.
Speaking previously about the inspiration behind the short film, she said: “When I turned eight, we had the party at a putt-putt golf course that also had an arcade. So me, my mom, my sister, my step-dad, and my best friend Doug were on the highway to the party and we were behind a truck that had a bright pink sofa on it. All of a sudden, the sofa fell out of the back of the truck. My mom put on the brakes, swerved to miss it, jackknifed, and hit the guardrail on the left side of the street – we spun around across three lanes of Texas traffic to the shoulder of the road. Luckily, no one was hurt, and we weren’t hit. But we were all in a state of shock.”
But the situation got even worse for her mother when she took photos of her smashed vehicle because she was repeatedly stung by a nest of fire ants and went into anaphylactic shock, narrowly escaping death.

Chris Hughes says he’s no longer speaking to most of his Love Island co-stars

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hughes hasn’t spoken to his former ‘Love Island’ housemates since they left the villa last month.
The 22-year-old hunk, who reached the final of the ITV2 reality romance show, coming third alongside his girlfriend Olivia Attwood, has admitted that he’s not spoken to the likes of Marcel Somerville, Gabby Allen, Jamie Jewitt and Camilla Thurlow or the other contestants since the show wrapped up.
Speaking to The Sun Online, Chris revealed that lovebirds Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies are the only couple they still speak to, although they haven’t had time to see them because they’re all so busy.
He said: “Since we left the villa, the only people me and Kem have really spoken to is obviously Liv and Amber. Once we got back to reality everyone goes their separate ways and they’re busy doing their own thing. I literally haven’t heard from any of them.
“I heard that Gabby and Marcel are apparently moving in together which is nice to see. I’m not really paying attention to the other couples. Just focusing on me and Liv and our relationship…”
Chris struck up a “bromance” with Kem whilst on the reality show and viewers loved it so much that they called for the pair to get their own spin-off, but they have admitted they are terrified it won’t be a success.
Kem – who won the show with Amber – said recently: “There’s nothing I can say as I don’t know the full gist but when they approached us I thought: ‘Really? Is that actually happening?’ It’s going to put pressure on me and Chris, but from the reaction when we got it on Twitter I could not believe it. People went mad for it. I rang Chris and said: ‘Is this really the reaction we got?’ so I feel under pressure now.”

Charlotte Crosby and Stephen Bear are not over

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby and Stephen Bear have got back together.
The former ‘Geordie Shore’ star called time on her romance with the ex-‘Celebrity Big Brother’ hunk last night (16.08.17) after they had a row over his commitment, but it seems she’s now made a drastic U-turn as she’s blamed her outburst on alcohol.
Apologising for her behaviour, the blonde beauty said on Snapchat: “So, I would like to explain and apologise for my behaviour last night. The top and bottom of it is I was a massive d**k. A massive drunken d**k who decided to go on her Snapchat and every other social media to tell nearly six million people a load of s**t. Obviously no relationship is perfect, you always have your ups and downs, but I just feel like I just did what any other girl does when they see red and I am sorry for that. Me and Stephen aren’t actually separated or finished. We just had a little bit of a row.”
The 27-year-old star’s outburst came shortly after she attended Olivia Attwood’s In The Style launch in London on her own and raised eyebrows when she filmed herself downing shots and smashing cupcakes against her forehead.
She said with tears last night: “I love Stephen more than anything in the world but I don’t think I’m what he wants right now. So I can’t carry on trying to fight for a relationship where the other person isn’t fighting as hard. Maybe my reasons aren’t as validated as his things but I don’t know why I’d get so upset about someone who doesn’t care. I know you think you know my life but you don’t know the half of it because there’s a lot of things that a lot of people just don’t know. I love Stephen so much but when someone is so selfish to always put themselves in front and not even care about the little things that you ask them to do it just makes you question if they care at all. He’s been the best boyfriend to us and he’s been faithful and he gets us anything I want. I can’t put him down in that way. But I’m so upset today and I’ve been so upset for a little while and I just wish I could tell you lot why. I just don’t feel like he cares as much.”

Tiffany Watson: Amelia Lily will never be accepted by Made In Chelsea set

OHMYGOSSIP — Tiffany Watson doesn’t think Amelia Lily will be accepted by the ‘Made In Chelsea’ cast if she jumps into a relationship with her ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson.
The West London socialite is being forced to watch her former boyfriend fall for the blonde beauty – who hails from Nunthorpe in Middlesbrough – inside the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house, but is confident that the pair won’t hook up because everyone knows that her and Sam are meant to be together and are rooting for them to reunite.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “Everyone says that they can’t see anyone that’s not me being with Sam. All our friends and family are struggling to picture them being together as we were together so long.”
Despite the ‘X Factor’ star getting close to the reality TV hunk, Tiffany bears no hard feelings towards Amelia because the singer has, so far, been “respectful” of their relationship.
Tiffany explained: “Amelia is a nice girl and she’s being respectful and I’m a fan of her.
“She knows Sam’s not over his last girlfriend. And he’d never get into a showmance.
“He hates when people are being fake.”
On Monday night, sparks flew between Sam and Amelia when he opened up to her and told her he sees a future with her but he’s so “afraid of f***ing something up”.
Amelia reciprocated his feelings, and admitted: “I get excited to wake up in the morning in here because I get to see you.”
And although the longer they stay in the house, the closer they could get, Tiffany wants Sam to stay till the end and win the Channel 5 show.
She added: “I want Sam to win, it’s nice he’s in there, for me. I think he could make it to the final. When I heard he was in the bottom two my heart dropped.”

Reverend Richard Coles lied about having HIV for five years

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Reverend Richard Coles lied about having HIV to get “sympathy”.
The openly gay Church of England priest – who has been added to the line-up for the forthcoming series of the ballroom and latin show – has admitted he pretended he had the virus for five years.
His deceit started after he got into a heated argument with band mate Jimmy Somerville following a gig in Switzerland, around the time he fell ill with the shingles, and, although his blood results came back as negative, he claimed he was HIV positive because he wanted his friend to “get off his back.”
Writing in his autobiography ‘Fathomless Riches: Or How I Went From Pop to Pulpit’, the 55-year-old Radio 4 presenter said: “I limped around the stage and stood half-heartedly at the keyboard. I think my morose mood irritated Jimmy because one night we had an argument.
“In the thick of it I said ‘I’m ill. I’ve just discovered I’m HIV positive – get off my back’.
“Saying it got me sympathy, which I liked. The harder part to admit was that there was a dark glamour to being HIV positive, there was this drama and I was drawn to that.”
Despite keeping up the lie for five years, the priest said he was “too ashamed” and felt like an “idiot” but came clean half a decade later when he found God in 1990.
Meanwhile, Richard is no doubt hoping to win the hearts of the nation in September when he slips into his dancing shoes and attempts to dazzle on the dance floor in the hope of bagging the glitterball trophy.
He will go head-to-head with the likes of Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford, Davood Ghadami and Mollie King in the BBC show.

Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood are living together

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hughes has been living with Olivia Attwood since they left the ‘Love Island’ villa
The reality TV couple had a tumultuous relationship on the show and rumours swirled that they’d split when the blonde beauty was spotted getting close to her ex-boyfriend Blackburn Rovers player Bradley Dack on a night out, but she’s now insisted that she’s rarely spent a night away from her on-screen beau and they are, in fact, “obsessed” with each other.
She said: “Chris chucked his suitcase at mine the day we got back from the island, and hasn’t left since. We haven’t had an official ‘moving in’ thing, but he’s pretty much at mine full time now.
“We’re obsessed with each other to the point where we’re killing ourselves trying to keep to the routine of staying together every night. Which isn’t feasible, but we’re doing a pretty good job.”
Olivia admitted she’s glad to have the hunk by her side since they became famous.
She said: “We’re more in love now too, because we’ve been thrown into this crazy world, so we’re holding each other’s hands through it.”
And the 24-year-old star is keen for the cameras to follow the couple once more and says they’ve had numerous offers to front their own reality TV show.
Speaking to MailOnline, she said: “I know people are begging for me and Chris to do our own show, so that’s something we’re definitely discussing.
“With me you get one face only. I’d never edit myself and Chris is the same way, which would lend itself well to our own show, as people would get the most out of us than any other couple.”
And she thinks they’d be an even bigger hit because Chris has such a huge following.
She added: “Chris can’t go anywhere without girls screaming and breaking down into tears, but if anything I really enjoy it.
“He’s my boyfriend and I get to wake up to that every morning, so I’m flattered that people think as highly of him as I do.”

Lisa Maxwell thought Loose Women would end her acting career

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Maxwell thought ‘Loose Women’ would be the end of her acting career.
The 53-year-old actress is best known for her role as Detective Inspector Samantha Nixon in the police drama ‘The Bill’, but after leaving the programme in 2009, Lisa joined the ‘Loose Women’ panel but feared it would ruin any future jobs in acting.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Lisa said: “I’ve always said doing that show wasn’t a job – you don’t put down ‘Loose Woman’ as an occupation on your passport form, do you? When I left the panel, it was the right move for me. It lulled me into a really lazy way of life as it was such a fun job.
“If I hadn’t made that change then, I might never have gone back to acting.”
Lisa decided to quit ‘The Bill’ to spend more time with her husband Paul Jessup and now-17-year-old daughter Beau after she lost two unborn babies – on separate occasions – in 2008 and was immediately snapped up by the ITV panel show.
Now the actress has a recurring role as Tracey Donovan in ‘Hollyoaks’ after starring as musical icon Judy Garland in the National Theatre production of ‘End Of The Rainbow’ and said it’s hard for actresses to secure grittier parts as they get older.
She said: “It’s so difficult working with such a wonderful young cast, and having to be such a miserable and horrible character to them all.
“As an actress, it’s hard to age sometimes, but Tracey’s look is right for the character.
“After playing Judy Garland, I really fancied a character who wasn’t in any way pretty or attractive. And then I read this very negative story that quoted me saying the make-up department put rubbish in my hair for the part.
“But the truth is, we laugh about the fact that poor Tracey is in the make-up chair for 10 minutes.”
