OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Big Brother’ could be axed next year.
The popular show, which has both civilian and celebrity series, looks set to get the chop as Channel Five boss Ben Frow has admitted he’s not keen on spending millions of pounds on a programme that sees a continuous plummet in ratings.
According to The Daily Mirror newspaper, the current deal with Channel Five runs out at the end of 2018 and Ben would be “happier” if the show was not on it.
He said: “I would be much happier with a channel that didn’t have Big Brother on it. I love the ratings but I want to create our own programmes.”
‘Big Brother’ has kick-started the careers of unknown stars such as the late Jade Goody, Alison Hammond and Brian Dowling – turning them into household names since it started on Channel Four before switching to Channel Five in 2011.
But Ben believes there must be something wrong with the format as young people would be rushing to sign up – like they have done with ITV’s ‘Love Island’.
He said: “I’ve got ‘Big Brother’ which has declined, declined, declined.”
It’s believed Ben is on a mission to make Channel 5 more “upmarket” by featuring documentaries and reality shows such as ‘Make or Break’, which launched this month.
The source said: “Big Brother is not one of Ben’s babies so he does not feel as passionately about it as some other projects.
“There is also the fact that it has lots of controversy and lots of cost which used to be balanced by the fact it had big ratings and was good for advertising, but that is not as true in 2017 and it has less impact each year.
“It is not must see TV anymore as it used to be a decade ago.”
Despite Ben’s concerns, a spokesman for the channel said “no decision had been made” beyond next year as to whether ‘Big Brother’ would get scrapped.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Diana Rigg has a bottle of prosecco every day after filming for ‘Victoria’.
The 79-year-old actress portrays bolshie Duchess of Buccleugh in the forthcoming series of the period drama and, although the majority of her scenes are hilarious for the audience, she has to keep a relatively straight face and, therefore, she has requested in her contract that she’s served a cold bottle of the sparkling wine when shooting wraps.
Speaking during a Q&A and screening of ‘Victoria’, held at Ham Yard Hotel in London on Thursday (24.08.17), Daisy Goodwin – who has written and created the show – said: “My favourite thing about Diana, at the end of the day, in the contract, she has a bottle of prosecco and she just drinks one glass and she shares the rest with the make up team.”
And the 55-year-old writer was thrilled when she found out that Diana – who is known for her part in ‘Game of Thrones’ – had agreed to jump on board the second series.
She explained: “We were so thrilled when she agreed to play the Duchess of Buccleugh. I was basically writing and there was really only one person. I’d met her before, about 30 years ago, and I just remembered her so vividly from that so to see her again is just fantastic. She brings a certain asperity to the scene and set.”
And Diana is relieved she didn’t have to wear a corset like the rest of the cast.
She said “I am beyond a corset so I don’t have to suffer that. I am not interested in having a wait – forget that.
“I only take half an hour in wardrobe and make up because I am long past improving my appearance, so try to have it all done as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
But she did struggle getting in and out of horse drawn carriages for her scenes.
She added: “They are very high and impossible to get into and impossible to then get out of. There is very little that I have to acknowledge I can’t do anymore as an actress, but I can’t do that in front of cameras as it is very ungainly and almost impossible!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jemma Lucy reportedly wants to get back together with Stephen Bear.
The ‘Ex on the Beach’ star dumped the hunk in 2016 after claiming he “couldn’t keep his hands to himself”, but now, following Stephen’s recent split with Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, Jemma is looking to get her hands back on her ex after thinking about their relationship while trapped inside the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
A friend told the Sun Online: “Jemma went into ‘CBB’ hoping Stephen would re-enter the house and she would be thrilled to have the chance to get close to him again.
“Jemma has made no secret about how much he hates Charlotte for dating Stephen and she will be ecstatic when she hears he’s single again and she will be ready to pounce.”
The tattooed reality star is said to be pining after the heartthrob – who is also known as Bear – and feels there’s a massive chunk of her life missing now he’s not around.
The insider explained: “Jemma is really missing Bear at the moment.
“She’s had a lot of time to think about their relationship and she’s started to miss the connection they had. They were childish together and it was always fun and carefree, so it’s a huge part of Jemma’s life gone now.”
Stephen recently took to Twitter to announce he’d called time on his relationship with Charlotte but the blonde beauty only found out when she logged into Twitter.
The couple were reportedly struggling with their relationship after Charlotte briefly dumped Stephen while she was drunk because he refused to appear on her reality TV show.
Now, Stephen – who won ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ last year – revealed he has been in talks with bosses to re-enter the house, although it’s highly this time around as the series is set to conclude tonight (25.08.17).
He said: “I could be going in ‘Celeb Big Brother’. There are offers being banded about for me to go in there but I don’t know whether to do it or not.
“They want me to go in ASAP right for the end. We are negotiating on terms at the moment. If I go in there will be a hurricane.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Christmas special of ‘Victoria’ has been filmed.
The second instalment of the period drama is set to hit screens this weekend and, although the cast have spent the past few months getting up at the crack of dawn to shoot their scenes for the series, Jenna Coleman – who portrays the late monarch – has revealed they’ve also finished the festive episode, which will air in December.
Speaking at the Q&A and screening of ‘Victoria’, which was held at Ham Yard Hotel in London on Thursday (24.08.317), Jenna said: “What’s so lovely is for the Christmas special we’ve just finished filming, we can really feel the family.”
The forthcoming series, which is set immediately after the first, largely involves children and animals, and the 31-year-old actress has found it a real struggle.
She said: “It’s a huge part. We’re three babies in as of last night when we wrapped. Filming with children and animals is no joke. It’s a complete challenge. We’ve had parents hid behind pillows with packets of doritos. We had to cast some puppies – new dogs – and a lot of babies. The brood is really expanding. What’s so lovely is for the Christmas special we’ve just finished filming, we can really feel the family.”
And, in order to get into character, Jenna has been reading Victoria’s diaries.
She explained: “What’s really lovely is there’s an amazing website called Victoriasjournal.org or something and you can literally click in the date and go back to the point of “9:20am – ate breakfast.”
“And all different details of her day so you really get a sense of her day-to-day life and rhythms and it’s probably one of the best ways to get to know her because you get these tiny bits of observations all the time.
“My favourite ones was I read the Scotland diaries because we went up to Scotland this year and she always comments on people’s appearance and she’s really candid and frank in how she thought the people more north of Scotland weren’t as attractive.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ bosses are planning to launch a new dating show in South Africa this winter.
The last instalment of the romantic series proved such a hit with viewers that executives are keen to replicate its success by filming a similar programme later this year but, rather than shoot it in Mallorca, Spain, they’re keen to take it to African continent over the cooler months.
‘Survival of the Fittest’ will use elements of the hit series – such as recruiting a group of young, hot singletons and throwing them into a villa to compete for a cash prize.
But, rather than having them lounge around by a pool all day lapping up the rays in their bikinis, the contestants will take part in gruelling physical challenges, in which boys will go against girls, every day while going on dates, according to The Sun newspaper.
Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions, Paul Mortimer told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “ITV2’s younger audience will no doubt relish the escapism this immersive physical game show from sunny South Africa will provide next winter. Like ‘Love Island’ before it, this series’ nightly mixture of fun challenges and burgeoning relationships ought to be must see.”
But it’s not just a winter version of the show bosses are planning as it’s believed a number of contestants from the last series of ‘Love Island’ are set to get their own spin-off.
Kem Cetinay and Chris Hughes – who hit the headlines numerous times for their on-screen bromance – have reportedly signed a contract that will see them back on televisions soon.
Kem said recently: “There’s nothing I can say as I don’t know the full gist but when they approached us I thought: ‘Really? Is that actually happening?’
“It’s going to put pressure on me and Chris, but from the reaction when we got it on Twitter I could not believe it. People went mad for it. I rang Chris and said: ‘Is this really the reaction we got?’ so I feel under pressure now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby didn’t know Stephen Bear had dumped her until she found out on Twitter.
The former ‘Geordie Shore’ star had been gushing about how much she loved the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant just hours before he took to the social networking site to announced their split but, despite claiming he was sad by their break up, the blonde beauty wasn’t aware anything was wrong between them until she logged in and saw the tweet herself.
A source told the Sun Online: “Charlotte literally had no idea Stephen thought their relationship was in a bad way. They kissed and said goodbye when he flew to Las Vegas and he had been a great support to her over these past few days with everything to do with Gaz [Beadle, her ex].
“She’s given interviews in Ireland where she’s talked about Stephen and how much she loved him. She logged onto Twitter and saw his message, she’s in pieces and can’t believe her fairytale ending has been shattered.”
Stephen, 27, who is currently in Las Vegas with friends, wrote on Twitter last night: “Sadly me and Charlotte have split up.
“We have had a good run but we wasn’t right for each other. (sic)”
The news of their split comes at a bad time for Charlotte, 27, after her former boyfriend and ‘Geordie Shore’ star Gaz revealed he is expecting his first baby with Emma McVey.
An insider said: “Charlotte is devastated after her split with Stephen. The timing couldn’t have been worse.”
Charlotte, who is currently promoting her Flique cosmetic range in Ireland, broke down on live TV while thanking her fans for their support but continued to smile during the launch.
Sources close to the reality TV star said: “Charlotte is such a professional, she’d never let down her fans or those she’s made a commitment too.
“But this is so hard for her. She’s getting tearful when she’s alone with her friends and family.”
Stephen’s shock split announcement comes just weeks after Charlotte got drunk and revealed the couple had ended – although a day later she backtracked and blamed the alcohol.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann has signed up for a reality TV show about her pregnancy.
The former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star has been bombarded with offers to share her pregnancy journey in a new reality TV show and has reportedly chosen ITV over Quest Red’s £250,000 offer.
A source told The Sun: “Ferne had a difficult decision to make about putting her pregnancy on screen, but in the end she couldn’t resist the offers.
“Her pal Sam Faiers and Made in Chelsea’s Binky Felstead have proven that baby shows can be a smart career move.”
The 27-year-old presenter is just months away from giving birth to baby with ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins and she announced her pregnancy just two days after Arthur was arrested on suspicion of involvement in an acid attack at London nightclub Mangle in April.
He is currently in prison and Ferne has admitted that it has added a layer of stress to her pregnancy.
She previously said: “Pregnancy is the nine months of your life when you don’t want any stress. Obviously, I had stress, so I had to learn how to deal with it quickly.
“Loads of women who are pregnant go through stressful experiences, so knowing I’m not the only one meant I could research how other women have coped – and that’s by surrounding yourself with people who care about you and love you.”
Although Ferne dumped Arthur after the attack, she has been spotted visiting him in prison.
An insider previously explained: “They are most certainly not back together and she has no intentions of doing so.
“But she saw him to discuss certain matters, given she is carrying his unborn child.
“She clearly didn’t want to be seen as she went in and kept a very low profile.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Sims doesn’t want Calum Best to date anyone else.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star was pictured kissing the hunky model last October and she admits she feels “nervous” whenever he goes on TV shows looking for love because she hates the thought of him getting intimate with anyone else.
Speaking to the Daily Star, she said: “I’m looking forward to [watching] ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
“I know a handful of people on it, which makes it even better. My ex Calum Best is on.
“He’s always doing dating shows, which gives me the worst nerves.
“I have this weird thing that I don’t want him to meet anything else.”
The 35-year-old star recently returned to the UK after shooting an ‘Only Way is Essex’ special in Marbella, Spain, and though she didn’t get involved in much “drama”, she’s glad to be home.
She said: “I’m back from Marbs and am I glad to be home!
“I only went out once while I was there, to a restaurant called MOSH and then on to a couple of clubs. I got smashed and was so hungover the next day.
“I wasn’t involved in too much drama, but I had an awkward run-in with Pete [Wicks].
“It wasn’t a bad argument, but we had a few words.”
Chloe also teased the relationship between former couple Gemma Collins and James Argent will be a big talking point on the show.
She said: “I saw the reports about Gemma wanting to get back with Arg.
“I don’t think it’s true they weren’t talking, I think they were civil
“It’s all tongue-in-cheek when it comes to them two. You’ll have to wait and see what happens when they come face to face on ‘TOWIE’.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaun Williamson has been evicted from the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor left the famous abode in a backdoor eviction, and though ‘Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ presenter Rylan Clark had earlier teased there’d been a shock departure, his identity was kept secret until Thursday (24.08.17) evening.
Despite not making it through to Friday’s (25.08.17) final, Shaun was thankful for his time in the house.
He said as he left: “I’ve had a wonderful time. As soon as Jordan, then Paul and then Sandi were evicted I knew you could never second guess the public.
“I was myself, and if that’s not what they want then it’s all good. I’ll miss you all.”
Shaun’s eviction came as a big shock to viewers because ghost-hunting presenter Lee Roberts of ‘Haunted Live’ set tongues wagging when he commented on the idea that Derek Acorah had been evicted.
He said: “Interesting that the BBBOTS panel all thought derek_acorah would be leaving via the backdoor…I love it when people are wrong CBB (sic).”
He later claimed he had “no idea” who had left the house and just likes to cause confusion.
He added: “FTR, I have no idea who has left the @bbuk house I never said @derek_acorah was still in, just i’d like to see people proved wrong #CBB
“As much as I hate backdoor evictions, it certainly gets people talking about @bbuk. I can’t wait for tonight’s show. #CBB (sic).”
But Derek’s wife also caused a stir when she said she didn’t know who had been kicked out.
She wrote on Twitter: “Does anybody know what’s going on with CBB because I sure as hell don’t! Who’s in and who’s out? (sic).”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Thompson and Amelia Lily have called time on their relationship inside the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
The former ‘X Factor’ singer broke down in tears after she was told the ‘Made in Chelsea’ star was talking behind her back and in scenes that will air in Thursday’s episode (24.08.17) and it seems like the war of words leads to the pair ending their fling once and for all.
Amelia, 22, said: “Sam, what have you said? Apparently I’ve been made out to be a mug now. Why are you taking the p**s out of me? Even Jordan [Davies] has said that it doesn’t look good and I look like a t*t.
“I look desperate, apparently. I’ve been told you’re saying things in the Diary Room about me. I’m not desperate or anything like that, I just think you’re a really nice guy and, like I said today, you’ve made my experience.
“Why am I getting told by everyone in here tonight that I’m the one who is all for you? I feel like a t*t now.”
The reality TV star, who has just come out of a long-term relationship with Tiffany Watson, tried to defend himself and claimed she was the last person he would make fun of.
He said: “Amelia, you’re the last person I would take the p**s out of, when you watch this back you’ll see that.
“I’m saying lovely things in the Diary Room about you. My problem is with myself.
“Amelia, you have to understand, I’ve done nothing but say nice things about you and I have also said I’m not sure I’m ready for a relationship and I’ve told you that.”
However, the news they’ve split won’t come as a surprise to fans, as last night’s episode saw a stressed out Sam admit that he wasn’t ready to throw himself into a relationship after Amelia admitted she was excited to introduce the hunk to her parents in tomorrow night’s finale (25.08.17).
He said: “She was going on about how much she can’t wait for me to meet her parents and this that and the other thing.
“I’m like, ‘I will meet your parents and I’m going to try my best for them to like me and stuff because you never know what’s going to happen in the future’.
“But at the moment I was like ‘slow down’ you know what I mean? We’re not, I’ve got to sort so much stuff out in my head and I have to do that on the outside. I have to.”
