Simon Cowell ‘battling moles’ at new country home

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell is reportedly battling an army of moles at his new £8 million mansion.
The 64-year-old TV mogul bought the house in the Cotswolds last year after selling off his pad in London but he’s now said to have discovered the garden is full of molehills after the furry fiends moved into the grounds of his country estate.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It was fine when they moved in. Now the gardens are riddled with molehills.
“They started off on the sunny hillside quite a distance from the house. But the moles seem to be getting braver and quite a few have popped up by the living room window, pool, and patio. It’s like they’re taking over.”
Simon and his fiancee Lauren Silverman, 45, previously lived in the upmarket area of Holland Park in London but they swapped city life for a new home in rural Oxfordshire and Simon is pleased his nine-year-old son Eric can enjoy an outdoorsy childhood similar to his own.
Simon told Access Hollywood: “He’s like me. He likes being outside, you know. He’s kind of doing all the things I did as a kid where he’s playing football outside, he’s climbing trees, he’s running. And that’s what we have … We’re in the countryside so he gets to do tonnes of things outside so I’m happy and he loves it there.”
Simon is said to have sold off his £45 million London mansion after a series of home invasions at the property and a previous report suggested the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ boss has been enjoying living a more “anonymous life” outside of the capital.
A source told People: “He moved into the home a few months ago and is really enjoying the freedom of country life. Simon loves his cars and he can now drive them around the country lanes as much as he wants. He’s still going to keep doing his work in the U.S. but now has a home to come back to where he can relax that’s away from London. In Holland Park, he couldn’t ever step outside his door without being stopped by someone, and now he can just kick back and live a relatively anonymous life, which is what he wants.”

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis ‘confirm’ Freaky Friday 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have seemingly confirmed their involvement in a second ‘Freaky Friday’ flick.
The actresses appeared in the beloved body-swap film in 2003, and it has long been rumoured that a follow-up movie was in the works. Now, the pair have teased they will be reuniting for second instalment in the Disney franchise.
Taking to Instagram, the two posed together while Jamie wrote: “DUH! FFDEUX!”
A following post from the ‘Halloween’ actress showed the two in-action during the 2003 flick, while Jamie simply added a tick emoji to the caption.
Previously, Lindsay had confirmed there had been plans for a second ‘Freaky Friday’, and emphasised she was “excited” to reunite with her co-stars for the movie.
She told People Magazine the flock was “in the process”, adding: “[I’m] just excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further we can take it.
“Because we talk almost every other day in general, so I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this.”
The ‘Irish Wish’ star addressed the rumours on SiriusXM’s ‘Andy Cohen Live’ earlier this month (04.03.24) revealed that “it is in the works”.
However, she emphasised: “I don’t want to say too much.”
Jamie also spoke about reuniting with Lindsay on a new ‘Freaky Friday’ movie, and admitted she campaigned for a sequel.
She told the New York Times: “As I went around the world with ‘Halloween Ends’, people wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday’.
“Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”
In the same interview, Lindsay said: “Jamie and I are both open to that. So we’re leaving it in the hands that be.”
Recently, it was rumoured that Nisha Ganatra will be directing the upcoming movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creative – who directed several episodes of the Hulu miniseries ‘Welcome to Chippendales’ – will be helming the flick.

Cynthia Erivo advised by mother for Drift

OHMYGOSSIP — Cynthia Erivo’s mother was her “biggest resource” when she was preparing for ‘Drift’.
The 37-year-old actress plays Jacqueline, a woman striving to survive on a Greek island after fleeing the Liberian civil war, and she turned to her mom Edith – who was displaced at the age of 15 during Nigeria’s Biafran War in the 1960s – to find a connection with her character.
She told Empire magazine: “I used her as my biggest resource.
“She would talk about the fear she felt, about how she and her siblings didn’t know if they would be able to find food or shelter at any time.”
And during the shoot, Cynthia forced herself to feel as uncomfortable as Jacqueline would have done.
She said:” At night, you let the cold, the dark, the wind and the sounds affect you so you can do something that’s completely truthful.
“When you’re cold, your muscles tense up, you can’t necessarily think straight – and you use those things to your advantage.”
The character’s wardrobe consists largely of a denim skirt and a few t-shirts, with costume designer Matina Mavraganni deliberately choosing faded shades of blue to help blend her into the background.
Cynthia said:” The blue is also reminiscent of water, of where she is – there’s an unattachedness that blue has and I wanted that for her.
“It’s not a colour that screams, ‘This is me.’ There’s no statement in it, necessarily.
“It’s something she can disappear in.”
Before filming, Cynthia would go on a run and listen to a playlist that offered her a “sense of release” from the tension her character carried, but the tracks – including Mykal Kilgore’s ‘Let Me Go’, Tracy Chapman’s ‘Remember The Tinman’ and ‘My Mind’ by YEBBA – all had significance to the project.
The actress explained: “A lot of those songs are about our relationship to memory and about particular people too.
“Those themes are what Jacqueline is consistently fighting against and fighting through: The loss of something, the memory of something and trying to make the connection between all of it.”

Sofia Boutella cut her own hair for scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Boutella cut her own hair on camera for ‘Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver’.
The 41-year-old actress sports a shorter crop as Kora, the former Imperium soldier turned rebel ringleader, in the upcoming film and director Zack Snyder praised the star for not only agreeing to the radical change, but making it part of the story.
He told Empire magazine: “That’s her Imperium haircut.
“What’s cool is that in the movie, Sofia cuts it herself and we did it on the day.”
Sofia’s alter ego is at the heart of the new film.
Zack said: “She’s shielding us from her real involvement and there’s a bit of conflict around what she’s done.
“But in the end, what she offers the group, her skillset and her desire to redeem herself, makes her a powerful asset.”
The xx-year-old filmmaker promised the movie will have more action than ‘Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire’, which was released In December.
He said: “It’s a war film, 100 per cent. It’s got way more action than the first movie, very intense and crazy action…
“It’s absolutely an emotional rollercoaster you’re going to be on with these cats.
“We discover the backstories of our heroes, and there is an interesting correlation between what’s happened to most of them to make this battle cathartic and symbolic.”
And Jimmy the warrior robot, who is voiced by Sir Anthony Hopkins, also has a “much bigger role” in the story.
The director said: “He plays a much bigger role.
“I feel like Jimmy is at the point where he’s got to decide whether he wants to really fight. That’s a big question.”

Corrie star Emrhys Cooper reveals family was ‘sucked in by cults’

OHMYGOSSIP — Emrhys Cooper has revealed his family was “sucked in by cults”.
The 39-year-old actor, who plays the fitness buff Rowan Cunliffe in ‘Coronation Street’, has admitted his family were indoctrinated by cults and phoney health experts during his childhood.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “My parents did wind up in a cult. It was actually kind of a wellness, fitness, more of a spiritual cult.
“And as they got further and further in, and gave more money, it became more sinister.
“Basically, the cult tried to separate my parents by doing these rather sexual exercises with other people, which my Dad was a little alarmed by because he was having to grope this woman and my Mum was having to do this thing with someone else. So they kind of cottoned on that this exercise programme was not all it was cracked up to be.”
The soap star explained that his mother was convinced by the cult to reject medicine, which “severely affected” her health.
He said: “Growing up in Totnes, a very new-age town and a breeding hub of gurus and holistic doctors, my parents encountered quite a few Rowan-types over the years.
“I didn’t really understand it growing up. But as I got older and witnessed firsthand some of the dangers of these types of characters, my mother’s health was severely affected by some very dangerous advice she received, which is still incredibly upsetting to me.
“My mother had a prescription for high blood pressure and a holistic doctor basically told her that he could get her off the prescription with some herbal remedy, and she had a heart attack.”
Emrhys said that after her G.P. had prescribed her medication for her condition, she refused to take it and instead listened to the cult, leaving her “paralysed”.
He explained: “She promised us that she would go back on the prescription, but unfortunately she didn’t.
“Four years ago she had a very severe stroke, which has left her paralysed and in a nursing home. So that could have been stopped if she hadn’t listened to that advice.”

Giovanni Pernice ‘to talk Strictly future with BBC’

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanni Pernice will reportedly hold talks with the BBC over his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ future.
The 33-year-old professional dancer has been mired in controversy after his partner for the 2023 series, Amanda Abbington, left the show and now Faye Tozer – Giovanni’s partner from the 2018 season – has reportedly revealed his training is too “intense”, leading to the network wanting to discuss his future on the show.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper: “Giovanni has a meeting with Strictly on Thursday about his return later this year.
“They have not received any official complaints and are backing him.
“He is an accomplished pro dancer and it’s expected he will be taking his place in the formal line-up when it’s announced later this month.”
It was claimed that the pair struggled to see eye-to-eye during their time on ‘It Takes Two’, and his dancing demands reportedly left Faye in tears.
A second industry insider added: “They did often clash and she was in tears on It Takes Two. She found how he spoke to her abrasive.”
Reflecting on the situation with Amanda, Giovanni admitted it was “a shame” his partner chose to leave the BBC show.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror’s ‘Invite Only’ podcast, he said: “It’s a shame because, in my opinion, she could have gone all the way.”
Despite facing criticism for the way he allegedly treats his partners, the professional performer emphasised he wants to do his best for the contestants.
He explained: “I am a perfectionist, 100 per cent, but it comes from a perspective of caring. I think all of the professional dancers are in the same place.
“In every single part of the world, if you’re a professional dancer on one of these shows, you have to get these people looking the best they can on Saturday night.
“And if we have good scores at the end, I do look back and say, ‘I’ve done a great job’. But we all care about our partners and we want that for them every single week – to look great on a Saturday.
“There’s no specific way that you are, or have to be with your celebrity. You make the most of their strengths so the only thing that’s constant is the fact that you have to do a show on Saturday night.”

Love Island’s Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan prioritise relationship over fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan are convinced their relationship will stand the test of time because they aren’t interested in being famous.
The couple won ‘Love Island’ last year and they recently celebrated their first anniversary together, and they have now declared their romance will go the distance because they prioritise spending time with each other instead of attending glitzy parties.
Kai told OK! magazine: “The difference between ‘Love Island’ couples and ordinary couples is that there is a lot of pressure on the relationship when you leave the villa.
“What makes Sanam and I different is that you have to decide what you want more – the fame that comes with the show, or the person you’re in a relationship with. You get invited to parties but we wanted each other more than that lifestyle. We enjoy every moment together and we do things the other person is interested in, too.”
Sanam added: “We make time for each other, we have a good balance and prioritise our relationship over the other stuff that comes our way.”
She went on to insist she’s still in the same job she had before the show and has no intention of quitting to become an influencer or a socialite.
She said: “I didn’t go on ‘Love Island’ for fame and I never had that sort of lifestyle before the show. I was a social worker beforehand and still am. It’s given me an amazing platform.”
Kai concurred saying: “I’ve never been interested in chasing fame. But being given the opportunity to go on a show like that at 24 years old, I think most people my age would have done the same. It opens doors, but it’s about how you use it.”
Kai worked as a PE teacher before joining the ITV dating show, but he recently told HeatWorld he’s keen to “do the same things” but in a “different capacity”.

Charlotte Hawkins ‘had to work twice as hard’ as a women in television

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Hawkins has “had to work twice as hard” to prove herself as a woman in television.
The 48-year-old presenter – who first started as a newsreader for ITN in 1999 before joining ITV’s ‘Meridian Tonight’ the following year, while she later joined ‘Sky News’ before leaving for ‘Good Morning Britain’ in 2014, where she has remained for the last decade.
Reflecting on her career, she told Prima Magazine: “As a young female presenter, I felt I had to work twice as hard to prove myself.
“Starting out, I got the impression that, as a young woman, I couldn’t give people any reason to doubt me, whether that was getting something factually wrong or asking a silly question.”
However, she noted that the culture has shifted since she came into the TV industry.
She added: “But I’m glad that things have improved since then; once upon a time, female political corresspondents were rare, but now women do the same breadth of jobs as men and are rewarded with the same status, credibility and authority.”
That is reflected in the current ‘GMB’ lineup, which also includes regulars Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid, with Richard Madeley and Ed Balls rotating during the week.
She said: “I love that the women are the ones there day in, day out, and we have our revolving cast of male guest presenters who join us.
“When you look back over the generations, the news is looking and feeling very different now – and I’m proud to be a part of that.”
And while Charlotte has no plans to move on from the ITV breakfast programme, she has other ambitions in television.
She revealed: “I’ll keep doing ‘GMB’ for as long as they want me. I’d also love to do more acting.
“I appeared in the 2015 Bradley Cooper film ‘Burnt’ as a television presenter, which was an amazing experience. The whole film crew came alog and turned the ‘GMB’ studio into a film set.
“Next, I’d love to do a TV drama. ‘Death In Paradise’ would be the dream.”

Christopher Biggins: ‘Don’t do Celebrity Big Brother if you want a career!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Biggins has warned others to avoid taking part in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 75-year-old pantomime legend enjoyed a huge career revival when he won ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ in 2007 but was removed from the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house in 2016 after making comments deemed to be offensive and has now told other celebrities to avoid the series altogether if they want to have a career.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “I thought it was pretty bad. I don’t understand what people see in it. People are so horrible, and everyone’s pretending to be someone they’re not in order to win. Don’t touch it with a barge pole if you want a career.”
During his short stint on the series, the TV star made comments towards former ‘X Factor’ contestant Katie Waissel that were deemed anti-semitic and 44 people later complained to broadcasting standards commissioner Ofcom over comments he made about bisexual people.
Ofcom later cleared Biggins over the comments about bisexual people – during which he described them as people just “not wanting to admit they are gay” – and he apologised to Katie for making a joke about showers to her but insisted that he had meant no harm with his words.
At the time, he said: “I am mortified by what’s happened, really mortified. Most of my friends, in fact, are Jewish. I apologised to Big Brother and Katie. I love Jewish people. Listen, my best friend is Lesley Joseph. You can’t get much more Jewish than that.
“I have a lot of bisexual friends and I’m not in any way a bigoted person.
“It’s just not in my vocabulary that word. So to be chastised for those sorts of things is very sad. Katie is a very sensitive girl with a few issues.”
Biggins took part in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ when it aired on Channel 5 but the format was recently revived by ITV1 and was won by ‘Ibiza Weekender’ star David Potts, with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Nikita Kuzmin as runner-up.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana DeBose has been cast in ‘With Love’.
The Oscar-winning actress will feature opposite Ke Huy Quan in the upcoming Universal Pictures movie that will be released in February 2025.
Plot details are being kept under wraps on the film, which is being helmed by first-time director Jonathan Eusebio – an acclaimed veteran stunt coordinator.

According to Deadline, film bosses were searching for the perfect female lead after casting Quan and met with a number of performers before settling on the ‘West Side Story’ star.
Ariana starred in the Disney animated movie ‘Wish’ last year and revealed that she “cried like a baby” when she was cast in the film.
She told MovieWeb.com: “They came to me shortly after ‘West Side Story’ had premiered, and I hadn’t really won anything. I was just excited that ‘West Side Story’ had come out, and it looked like I was going to have the opportunity to make more work.
“Then they called, and Chris Buck [the director] was like, ‘We want to make this movie with you.’
“I was like, ‘Amazing, what is it?’ Because they hadn’t really told me, but then they explained what the story was going to be, and I cried like a baby because I was a Disney kid growing up.”
DeBose voiced the heroine Asha in the movie and explained that her performance was inspired by other Disney princesses.
The 33-year-old star said: “I can tell you definitively that so many of our previous Disney princesses and heroines inspired me while in the booth.
“I could hear the echoes of Mulan and Cinderella. I would go, ‘Alice would have said that’ or ‘Raya, there you at girl!’ I drew inspiration from so many of the characters from the canon.”

Jeremy Allen White set to play Bruce Springsteen in biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Allen White is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in a biopic.
The 33-year-old actor is in negotiations to portray ‘The Boss’ in ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’, which is based on Warren Zarnes’ 2023 book of the same name and tells the story of the making of Springsteen’s 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.
Scott Cooper is adapting the screenplay for the big screen and is also planning to direct. Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein are producing for Gotham Group while former Netflix film chief Scott Stuber is also involved in the development of the project.
‘Nebraska’ was the rocker’s sixth studio album and is one of his most acclaimed records. The songs focused on blue-collar narratives and featured Bruce performing all the instrumentals alone.
It was ranked at 150 on ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2020.
Springsteen continues to enthral audiences with his live performances after a career spanning six decades and the movie continues the trend for biopics about legendary musicians – after the film ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ proved to be a hit earlier this year.
Jeremy has enjoyed huge success with his role as chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto in the TV series ‘The Bear’ but explained that he is still adjusting to the fame he has found as a result.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “I feel like I’m doing my best.
“I don’t know, I think you just have to keep your feet on the ground and keep yourself surrounded by people that know you and love you.”
Jeremy explained that he feels sympathy for younger performers who are thrust into the spotlight and thinks he is fortunate that he had a “gradual” rise to fame.
He said: “I feel really bad for a young actor or somebody who just hasn’t had much experience when all of a sudden they break through; it could be more overwhelming in that case.”

Fern Britton reveals why she felt ‘spaced out’ upon entering the Celebrity Big Brother house

OHMYGOSSIP — Fern Britton wanted an “adventure” when she signed up for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 66-year-old presenter – who hosted ‘This Morning’ alongside Phillip Schofield from 2002 until 2009 – recently reached the final of the hit ITV1 reality show and admitted that she likes to “feel uncomfortable” as she recalled feeling “spaced out” upon entering the house for the first time.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she said: “I could do with an adventure, and I haven’t had an adventure for a little while. I quite like feeling uncomfortable and I thought I’d give it a go. Before you go in, you are kept for about 36 hours – it feels like days on end – in a hotel room with a chaperone. No phone, no watch, no television, no radio, no book. I did sneak out now and then to just walk the corridor. So I was already spaced out. The game had started in all of our heads by getting us confused in our heads.”
“All of a sudden you’re in a dress, in make up, in a car and then you go in. There’s bloody AJ and Will and you’re walking up a ramp in the rain. Literally extraordinary.
The former ‘Ready Steady Cook’ host – who split from celebrity chef Phil Vickery in 2020 after two decades together – finished fifth overall in the series, behind ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh, ‘Coronation Street’ actor Colson Smith, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Nikita Kuzmin and reality star winner David Potts.
But she recalled “willing” herself to sleep in the run-up to the end of the competition, as she noted some “painful” moments included the shock backdoor eviction of ‘Heartstopper’ star Bradley Riches.
She added: “Locked into a big room with 12 other people. No windows, no daylight, no nothing, Except a sort of low light under the beds all the time. It was weird, very weird. After, I think I did 19 nights, the last few, I found really hard and was just willing myself to sleep.
“Then those hours would be done and then you’d wake up and you’d still be locked in. Suddenly, the lights would go on and they would play music. It makes emotions very heightened. I think a lot of us wept. It was literally just an alien environment, a lot of it was good fun, fascinating to be a part of and then bits of it were painful.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Brooks has been appointed the new producer for ‘Coronation Street’.

“I’ve adored the show from across the Pennines and have consistently been in awe of the talent on display, both on and off the screen.
“It truly is a special show and I endeavour to take great care to ensure that it continues to thrive as we head into the next chapter.
“‘Coronation Street’ has, and always will be, part of my DNA, and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Meanwhile, Iain hailed Kate as a “fantastic storyteller”, and he’s looking forward to seeing what she does at the helm.
He commented: “I know under her guidance the show will be ambitious, exciting and full of heart and humour.
“She is ‘Corrie’ to the core and such a good fit for the show. I am genuinely excited to see what the next chapter holds and can’t wait to work with her again.”
During her time on ‘Emmerdale’, she produced a range of storylines alongside fellow producer Laura Shaw, including serial killer Meena Jutla and Mandy Dingle’s 2019 return after 17 years away, along with Marlon’s stroke, and Faith’s breast cancer storyline in 2022.
