Hugh Dennis ‘doesn’t know anything’ about story for Outnumbered Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Dennis doesn’t “really know anything” about the ‘Outnumbered’ Christmas special.
The beloved BBC sitcom is set to return later this year for the first time since the 2016 festive episode – which came two years after the fifth series came to an end – and with filming set to get underway in November, the 62-year-old actor claimed he’s still largely in the dark about the plans.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “It’s great that it’s coming back.
“We are doing this 40 minute special but we don’t really know anything about it. We’ve read in the paper that we’ve got a grandchild but we don’t know who’s kid it is.”
In the upcoming episode, Hugh will reprise his role as dad Pete and Claire Skinner will be back as mum Sue, which will mark their first time on screen together since announcing their real life relationship.
The 40-minute special will follow the chaos in the downsized home of the Brockmans, as they grapple with the challenges of parenting kids who are now adults, with their own lives to lead.
Tyger Drew-Honey is to return as eldest son Jake, while Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez will be back as the middle child Ben, and daughter Karen respectively.
Hugh added: “I’m really looking forward to it and we’re all looking forward to it. It’s going to be strange, isn’t, it because I don’t think we live together anymore as a family.
“There’s lots of different stuff to reflect and one of the great things about the show was to reflect life as it actually was.”
The show stood out on television by having the younger cast members improvise their line, to make it more authentic.
He pondered: “You’ll never get them to sound like real children unless you let them be real children and the other reason was that when we started, they were so young that they couldn’t read so there was no point in giving them a script.”

Jorgie Porter shares her happy baby news after devastating loss of quads

OHMYGOSSIP — Jorgie Porter is expecting her second child after suffering a devastating miscarriage.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ star confirmed on Wednesday’s (29.05.24) episode of ITVBe’s ‘Drama Queens’ that she and fiancé Ollie Piotrowsk – who had their son Forest in November 2022 – are due to become parents again.
She told her co-stars: “So guys… guess what? I am pregnant.”
Jorgie admitted: “And I am a little bit moody, not full mood.”
The 36-year-old actress also took to Instagram to share a baby scan video featuring her little boy and their dog and captioned it: “We’ve been keeping a little secret.”
Jorgie tragically lost her quadruplets at 14 weeks back in 2021, and she had never felt a worse pain than when she got the news from doctors that her babies were gone.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “My miscarriage was the hardest thing I’ve had to go through in my life. None of the doctors knew why it happened. I had four times the hormones, and then afterwards, the feeling of being pregnant never went away.
“Ollie and I had felt so ready to be parents. I just didn’t understand how it could be taken away.
“There is no pain like it, and it was the same for Ollie.
“Some think, ‘It’s the woman’s body’, but that’s not true. If anything, it makes the male partner feel he can’t be upset. So it’s important to talk about it.”
Jorgie – who plays Theresa McQueen on the E4 soap and appeared on reality shows ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ and ‘Dancing On Ice’ – intends to tell Forest and now her unborn child about their late sibling when they are older.
She said: “I felt very lucky to be able to speak to friends who have suffered miscarriages and got through the other side.
“I don’t think I can ever move away from what happened. It’s about progression. If I talk about Forest it’s important I don’t ignore what happened. If it had not happened, I wouldn’t be mum to Forest.
“When he’s older I’ll definitely tell him about our lost babies.”

Haunting of Hill House’s Mike Flanagan making ‘radical new take’ on The Exorcist

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Flanagan is leading a “radical new take” on ‘The Exorcist’.
The ‘Haunting of Hill House’ creator and modern horror icon – who has also worked on the likes of ‘Gerald’s Game’, ‘Midnight Mass’ and ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’ – will write, direct and produce a reboot of the iconic franchise for Blumhouse.
He said in a statement: “‘The Exorcist’ is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker, and it is an honor to have the chance to try something fresh, bold, and terrifying within its universe.
“Reuniting with my friends at Blumhouse, with whom I’ve made some of my favorite pieces of work, only makes this more exciting.”
Blumhouse founder Jason Blum admitted he instantly “responded” to Flanagan’s idea for the film, and he’s looking forward to working with him again after previously teaming up on ‘Oculus’, ‘Hush’ and ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’.
Blum added: “Mike’s voice and vision are indispensable for horror fans, and we are excited to welcome him back to Blumhouse.
“I immediately responded to Mike’s new take on the world of ‘The Exorcist’ and can’t wait for audiences to experience it.”
The announcement means plans to continue David Gordon Green’s ‘Exorcist’ trilogy appear to have been scrapped after last year’s ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ was panned by critics.
Horror icon John Carpenter – who worked with Green on the ‘Halloween’ reboot trilogy – couldn’t understand how the sequel wasn’t a hit.
He previously told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I like what David did when he made the three ‘Halloweens’.
“I loved No. 2 [‘Halloween Kills’]. Thought that was fabulous. I heard ‘The Exorcist’ really didn’t cut it.
“That could be a kick-a** movie. I don’t understand how you can screw that up.”
The flick was a direct sequel to William Friedkin’s original 1973 picture ‘The Exorcist’, considered to be one of the greatest horror movies ever made, and director Green admitted he wanted to do the series justice with his new adaptations.
He told Collider: “I’m always my own worst critic, and putting pressure on myself that may or may not be the healthiest.
“But to me, it’s trying to bring an integrity to a franchise that means a lot to me as a movie geek. So, just get the right team together, work your a** off, and make a movie.”

Glenn Close is the latest star set for Knives Out 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Glenn Close is the latest name to board the new ‘Knives Out’ movie.
After Josh O’Connor, 34, Cailee Spaeny, 25, Andrew Scott and Kerry Washington, both 47, were all revealed to have joined the cast over the past few days, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the 77-year-old Hollywood star is a huge new addition to the star-studded ensemble.
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Benoit Blanc, the main protagonist in the money-spinning film franchise, while Rian Johnson is once again writing and directing the third movie.
The upcoming film has been given an official title of ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’, and although plot details remain a closely-guarded secret, Rian recently teased the movie on social media.
The 50-year-old filmmaker wrote on X: “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.
“We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going. (sic)”

The 1 Percent Club bosses complete investigation into ‘cheating’ claims

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The 1 Percent Club’ bosses have investigated claims a contestant was caught cheating on air.
The hugely popular ITV quiz show – which is hosted by comedian Lee Mack – starts with a field of 100 players and whittles them down until one person can try and win the £100,000 cash prize, but it sparked controversy recently after contestant Jason Duckett was seen rubbing his ears.
Presenter Lee had asked a question with the answer “ear” and “hear”, which was when DJ Jason – who appeared on the show with his lawyer wife Rowena – was seen rubbing both earlobes.
Both of the couple had been eliminated when he made the gesture, but viewers still thought something was afoot.
A spokesperson for the show told The Sun newspaper: “Any game show worth its salt attracts conspiracy theories.
“But happily, initial inquiries quickly established that there were no grounds for suspicion.”
Jason, 36, pointing out that both him and his wife were “out”, and he had “nothing to gain” by trying to cheat.
He told the outlet: “I almost admire the creativity of someone to come up with that because I hadn’t thought of that.
“There was nothing to gain for either of us. We were both out. Anything I was doing it was to just sort of calm myself.
“If you spin it, you could say my arms are folded. Was the answer harm and arm?”
Last month, Lee revealed he was planning to work on more of the show, while he recently confirmed his iconic sitcom ‘Not Going Out’ will return in 2025 for a 14th season, 18 years after it was first broadcast.
The show is the longest running UK sitcom currently on air and the 2023 Christmas special marked its 100th episode.
Lee said in a statement: “Once again I’m very grateful that the BBC have trusted in us to keep alive the studio sitcom.
“I grew up watching this genre of sitcom on the BBC, and to be part of it myself is still a dream come true, even after 18 years of doing it. Here we go again…!!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicholas Galitzine will play He-Man in the live-action ‘Masters of the Universe’ film.
The 29-year-old star has been tapped for a leading role in the flick from Amazon MGM and Mattel Films.
Plot details on the long-awaited movie have not yet been revealed but it is being directed by ‘Bumblebee’ helmer Travis Knight from a script by Chris Butler.
‘Masters of the Universe’ was introduced to the world via action figures in 1982 and focused on the battle between the heroic He-Man and the evil Skeletor.
The animated series ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ premiered the following year and several other film and TV adaptations have followed since as the franchise is still going strong.
The film, which is scheduled for release in June 2026, has endured a long journey to the big screen and was axed by Netflix last year as a result of budget concerns.
Directors John Stevenson, Jon M. Chu and McG have all been attached to the project since 2007 while Kyle Allen had been set to play He-Man before negotiations fell apart.
Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon MGM Studios, said: “We’re thrilled to bring the beloved ‘Masters of the Universe’ to life and couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man.
“Joining forces with director Travis Knight, Mattel, and Escape Artists, this reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from her to Eternia.”
Mattel Films’ President Robbie Brenner added: “Mattel Films is proud to work with Amazon and team up again with the incredibly Courtney Valenti, to bring ‘Masters of the Universe’ to the big screen.
“We are thrilled to be producing alongside the highly respected and prolific Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, with the visionary Travis Knight, and the charismatic and talented Nicholas Galitzine, our Prince Adam/He-Man!”

Sandra Huller joins Ryan Gosling in Project Hail Mary cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandra Huller is set to star opposite Ryan Gosling in ‘Project Hail Mary’.
The ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ actress has signed up to feature alongside the ‘Barbie’ star in the space-set picture that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing.
Based on Andy Weir’s 2021 novel of the same name, the movie tells the story of middle school science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling), who wakes up on a spaceship with no recollection of who he is or how he got there.
He must figure out how to complete an interstellar mission to save Earth from catastrophe completely alone – until he encounters a mysterious alien who has travelled light years to save his own species from a similar fate.
The picture is slated for release in March 2026 with Lord and Miller helming from a script written by Drew Goddard.
Amy Pascal is to produce for her Pascal Pictures company with Gosling doing likewise for his General Admission banner.
Sandra, 46, also appeared in the Holocaust flick ‘The Zone of Interest’ and shared her hopes that the way the film – which was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar – was produced can serve as a template for other movies in the future.
She said: “You never spent time with technical interruptions. We were alone in the house with a directing assistant who sometimes told us when they cut and sometimes didn’t.
“There were 60 microphones in the house so sometimes we had to communicate secretly when we had a problem because we knew they would use everything we do. The fact you are alone with this creature around you — because it very much felt like a creature or a presence — was very special and I am very curious to see if more people will work that way in the future because you can cut out all the things you don’t like about filmmaking.”

The pair – aged 20 and 21 respectively – were seen on Wednesday (29.05.24) night becoming the popular BBC show’s youngest winners, landing a £20,000 jackpot prize after racing against three other teams on a trip of 15,000km over 50 days from Japan to the finish line in Lombok, Indonesia.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Taskmaster’ is launching a new immersive experience.
The attraction, which will be available in London from 18 September, has been backed by the long-running comedy task series’ hosts Alex Horne, 45, and 56-year-old comic Greg Davies, who will appear virtually during contests signed up for by fans.
A website for the experience – taskmasterliveexperience.com – says: “You can compete to be crowned ‘Taskmaster’ champion. Based on the multi-award-winning hit TV show, this is your chance to step inside the iconic ‘Taskmaster’ house and take part in brand new ludicrous and infuriating tasks just like your favourite comedians.”
It adds competitors can pit themselves against friends and family “to battle for points and be crowned the winner” in a contest “led by bespoke video instructions from Little Alex Horne himself”.

The top five contestants from each group will then play the final task on the ‘Taskmaster’ stage and compete to be crowned winner.
Bosses warn on the experience’s site: “We strongly advise you to go to the toilet in advance so as to not miss any of the live action at the experience.

He said on the ‘Always Be Comedy’ podcast: “There’s a few old school people who I’d love to have, like Jasper Carrott.
“I think he’s fine, he’s not chasing things, but I think Joe Pasquale would do it and I think he would be great.
“But it’s a big conversation because if you’re having Pasquale, you’re not having someone else and it’s 10 weeks – do you want 10 weeks of Pasquale?
“I don’t know Pasquale.”
‘Taskmaster’ appeared on Channel 4 back in 2020, after five years on Dave.

Helen Skelton opens up about fibbing to ‘Great British Bake Off’ judges about serving them food from floor

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton has opened up about lying to ‘The Great British Bake Off’ judges about serving them food she dropped on the floor.
The ‘Countryfile’ host, 40, took part in the Channel 4 show for Comic Relief with comic Alistair McGowan, 59, and singer Rochelle Humes, 35, a decade ago, and battled to impress its judging panel Paul Hollywood, 58, and 89 year old Mary Berry.
She has now told the ‘Off Menu’ podcast, hosted by comics Ed Gamble, 38, and 39 year old James Acaster, about her food fib: “When I got kicked off, I got thanked for bringing the comedy element. I dropped all my cakes and didn’t realise there were cameras everywhere. I picked them up and put them on the table.
“They asked if I dropped them, I said, ‘No, no, it’s fine’.
“I didn’t think anyone had seen. But they were like, ‘You’ve just dropped them, dusted them off and then offered them to Mary’.
“I wouldn’t have stuck to my lie if I’d have known.”
Helen also told on the podcast how she quit BBC kids’ show ‘Blue Peter’ after having to dress as a chicken for the ‘World Worm Charming Championships’ – an annual contest held in Nantwich, Cheshire.
The presenter, who fronted the series from 2008 to 2013, added: “I came back to the office and they went, ‘Today, you’re going to the ‘World Worming Championships’ and you’re dressing as a chicken’.
“That was the moment when I thought, ‘I need to go soon because it’s fun dressing as a chicken once’.
“Ironically, I literally was like, ‘I don’t do dressing up, singing and dancing on telly’.”
Helen said even though she hated the chicken costume moment, she had fond memories of the show, adding; “My first day I went to Alaska!”

‘We have a terrific story’: Jerry Bruckheimer teases exciting new Top Gun film

OHMYGOSSIP — Jerry Bruckheimer has teased a “terrific” follow-up to ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
The 80-year-old producer has revealed that a story has been written for the third movie in the beloved action franchise and says it is now a case of getting Tom Cruise and the other cast members back for the picture.
Jerry told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think we have a terrific story. It’s just (a question of) how do we get everybody together and how do we get it done.
“Tom’s very busy. He’s got a lot of movies lined up, and he’s a very in-demand actor. So we’ll have to get a good screenplay, and hopefully, he’ll like it as much as we will.”
Reports about ‘Top Gun 3’ being in the works emerged earlier this year and star Glen Powell – who played Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ – seemingly confirmed the news by declaring that there was some “fun stuff” happening regarding the flick.
Speaking to Variety, he said of the rumour: “People looked at me like I knew what was going on.
“There is going to be some fun stuff being announced soon…but it was confidential to me. I talk to [Joseph] Kosinski, Cruise and Jerry [Bruckheimer] all the time. There is stuff happening and it sounds very exciting. I don’t know when I’ll be going back…I’m sure there is a jet waiting for me sometime in the future.”
Bruckheimer has also produced the new movie ‘Young Woman and the Sea’, which stars Daisy Ridley as the trailblazing American swimmer Gertrude Ederle, and praised the commitment that the cast and crew had for the project.
He explained: “Daisy got in the water, and she trained with these Olympians for almost four months. So you’ve got to hand it to her. She filmed in freezing water for 10 to 12 hours a day, for weeks at a time. It was really an ordeal, and she waited to make this movie.
“She loved this character so much, as did Joachim (Ronning, director).”
Bruckheimer added: “A lot of the crew members also waited. When they all read the script, they said, ‘I’m not taking any other work till you get this going’, and we were lucky that we got it going pretty quick once we got to that phase.”

Bill Skarsgard channelled ‘pure evil’ for his Nosferatu role

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Skarsgard “conjured pure evil” for his part in ‘Nosferatu’.
The 33-year-old actor is playing the vampire antagonist Count Orlok in Robert Eggers’ horror remake and explained how the depths he plumbed for the role “took its toll” on him.
Speaking to Esquire, Bill said: “It was like conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me.”
The ‘It’ actor revealed that he hopes that audiences feel a combination of attraction and repulsion towards Count Orlok, although he is not sure viewers will recognise him in his costume and makeup.
Bill said of the character: “He’s gross.
“But it is very sexualised. It’s playing with a sexual fetish about the power of the monster and what that appeal has to you. Hopefully you’ll get a little bit attracted to it and disgusted by your attraction at the same time.”
Eggers explained that he was amazed by the Swedish actor’s dedication to the villainous character.
‘The Lighthouse’ director said: “I remember early on, (Skarsgard) trying to talk to me about what it meant to be a dead sorcerer – and I’m into some pretty occult s***, but he was on a different level.
“I was like, ‘This sounds accurate, but I don’t know how to converse about this with any fluidity.'”
Meanwhile, Skarsgard explained how he achieved a career ambition by getting to work with Eggers.
He said: “You get a crush on someone – you can’t stop thinking about that person. I’ve only had it a few times, but that was so true with Robert.
“It was like, ‘Whatever this guy does, I just want to be a part of anything that this guy is making.'”

Lucasfilm boss warns women in ‘Star Wars’ film and TV franchise are trolled more than its male stars

OHMYGOSSIP — Women in the ‘Star Wars’ film and TV franchises are trolled more than its male stars, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is warning.
The film studio boss, 70, spoke out about the abuse ahead of the release of the ‘The Acolyte’ – a female-led spin-off TV series of the
sci-fi film favourite that has been slammed by male keyboard warriors for featuring “too many” women.
She told The New York Times she is convinced females are bigger targets for the toxic outpourings of troll ‘Star Wars’ fans as its followers are mainly male.
Kathleen added: “Operating within these giant franchises now, with social media and the level of expectation – it’s terrifying.
“I think (‘The Acolyte’ creator) Leslye (Headland) has struggled a little bit with it.
“I think a lot of the women who step into ‘Star Wars’ struggle with this a bit more.
“Because of the fan base being so male dominated, they sometimes get attacked in ways that can be quite personal.”
‘The Acolyte’ is an original story created by Leslye , 44, set before the events of ‘The Phantom Menace’.
Some fans have dubbed it ‘The Wokelyte’ due to amount of women in the series.
One troll said online: “Why are there so many women, girls and minority characters increasingly dominating the ranks of Jedi?”
But Kathleen said: “My belief is that storytelling does need to be representative of all people.
“That’s an easy decision for me.”
Leslye is renowned for directing films including ‘Sleeping With Other People’ and co-creating Netflix’s popular comedy drama ‘Russian Doll’, and is the first woman to serve as showrunner of a ‘Star Wars’ series.
Her ‘Acolyte’ take on the franchise includes new ‘Star Wars’ characters played by actresses including Amandla Stenberg, Carrie Ann-Moss, Jodie Turner-Smith and others.
Kathleen’s comments come after female ‘Star Wars’ actresses Daisy Ridley, 32, and Kelly Marie Tran, 35, faced online harassment from fans when the most recent ‘Star Wars’ film trilogy was released – with Daisy recently using an interview with Variety to tell fellow women stars involved in the franchise to “tune out” of the criticism and “find the good in it all”.

Camila Morrone soothed by Al Pacino over filming fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Morrone was soothed by Al Pacino over her fears about how to cry on screen.
The model, 26, who made headlines for dating Leonardo DiCaprio, 49, from 2017 to 2022, has just been unveiled as the new star of the second series of popular BBC One spy drama ‘The Night Manager’ alongside 43 year old Tom Hiddleston.
Details of her character are being kept secret, but the former Victoria’s Secret model – who grew up in Los Angeles with ‘Scarface’ actor Al Pacino, 84, as her stepfather – has opened up in the past about Al’s mentorship, which she said came when she landed a role as Bruce Willis’ daughter in the 2018 vigilante revenge thriller ‘Death Wish’.
She told ‘The Late Late Show’ in an interview that has resurfaced since news emerged of her ‘Night Manager’ role: “(I spent two hours at Al’s house and asked him) ‘What do I do? How do I cry?’
“(He said), ‘You’re fine, just act. Just be yourself. If you cry, you cry, if you don’t, you don’t. Just act, react, and you’ll be fine. You’re 19 – no one cares.”
Camila was quoted by The Sun saying about how she never thought she would land the ‘Death Wish’ role: “At the time I didn’t think there’d be a chance I’d get it because it was such a big role and such a big studio movie.
“I kind of just went in to the audition thinking, ‘Whatever – I’m not even going to get too into my head about this’.”
Camila went on to land the title role in indie coming-of-age film ‘Mickey and the Bear’ a year after starring in ‘Death Wish’.
Al dated her mother Lucila Sola, 48, from 2009 to 2018, and they have remained close after their break-up.
The actor has been widely reported to have been responsible for introducing his ‘One Upon a Time in Hollywood’ co-star Leo to Camila before they started dating.
She was with ‘The Revenant’ actor from 2017 to 2022, before Leo moved on to a younger model.
