Britain's 'prefer Prince William to become King over Prince Charles'

OHMYGOSSIP — Some 52 percent of the British public would prefer to see Prince William succeed Queen Elizabeth rather than Prince Charles.
That is according to a new poll conducted by Opinium Research, which found that just 27 percent of people would like to see Prince Charles become the King, while the report also revealed that 65 percent of UK adults still support a hereditary monarchy.
James Endersby, Managing Director of Opinium Research, said: “The monarchy clearly retains the support of the British public, and our tracker indicates that the institution is as popular now as it ever was.
“However, young people are not as invested as the older generation and this does raise questions about the future of the monarchy after the Queen – will the institution survive without one of history’s most respected sovereigns?”
The research also found that a mere 19 percent of UK adults hope Britain will become a republic in the future.
This comes shortly after it emerged that Prince William “won’t do as much” as his father Prince Charles, despite giving up his job as an Air Ambulance pilot in favour of becoming a full-time royal.
Prince William reportedly doesn’t want to appear to be “elbowing his father out of the way”.
A friend of the Prince said recently: “Some people may question why William still won’t do as much as Princess Anne but he is dead set on not queering his father’s pitch.
“He sees that Charles will probably be in his seventies before he becomes king and he doesn’t want to be seen as elbowing his father out the way.”
A source said Prince William will instead use his time to focus on issues that matter to him, such as tackling homelessness and raising awareness about mental health issues.

Prince William reveals plan to run a marathon

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William has promised to run a marathon.
The 34-year-old royal told ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Sean Fletcher at an event staged on behalf of the mental health organisation Heads Together that he hopes to run a marathon in Kenya at some stage in the future.
Sean shared: “I chatted to Prince William, and he has promised that he will run a marathon in Kenya sometime.”
The Prince made the pledge after he learned that Sean is running the 26.2-mile course for charity Young Minds after his son was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
But it appears Prince William’s wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, remains sceptical about whether the future King will follow through on his promise.
Sean said: “Then I spoke to Kate and she said, ‘I’ll believe it when I see it.'”
He said, too, that the Prince – who shares three-year-old Prince George and 20-month-old Princess Charlotte with his wife – came across as a “warm” and genuine man.
Sean explained: “This is all very new to me, I’m learning very fast because of my son’s situation.
“William’s understanding was incredible but also his sympathy and empathy with me.
“He asked me lots of questions. I’ve never met him before but he’s such a warm man. Like two dads talking together.”
The same sentiment was echoed by Channel 5 news presenter Sian Williams, who will be running the London Marathon after recovering from breast cancer.
She said: “The amount of passion the royals have for this cause is really impressive.
“They have researched it, they have personal experience because of the jobs they do – William taking about his role in Air Ambulance and Harry and his role in the military.
“You get a very keen sense it’s something they have been aware of for a very long time and they feel as though they can help get the talking going.”

Prince William delivers message on mental health

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William has encouraged people to be “open and honest” about their mental health.
The 34-year-old royal campaigns on behalf of the mental health charity Heads Together and in an impassioned speech, Prince William has stressed the importance of being candid about such issues.
He said: “Mental health matters to each and every one of us. It matters just as much as our physical health.
“The crews I have worked with, whether RAF Search and Rescue or Air Ambulance, must take their mental health as seriously as they do their physical health or else they would not cope – and, actually, that is true for everybody at some time or another in their life.
“There are times when, whoever we are, it is hard to cope with challenges – and when that happens being open and honest and asking for help is life-changing.”
The Prince was joined at the Heads Together event by his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, and his brother Prince Harry.
The Duchess is a reluctant public speaker, but she too stressed the need to be honest about mental health issues.
She said: “William, Harry and I have been very privileged to witness in the course of our work countless examples of simple conversations that have changed lives, which were the first step on a path to recovery.
“Just last week at the Anna Freud Centre, I heard from one mother how talking to a support worker was – in her words – like medicine.”
The Duchess said having someone to confide in can be a huge benefit if you are suffering with mental health issues.
The 35-year-old royal explained: “Simply by having someone there to have a conversation with helped her immensely.”

Prince William, Prince Harry, and Duchess Catherine to discuss plans for Heads Together

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William, Prince Harry, and Catherine, Duchess of Cornwall are set to outline the next phase of their Heads Together campaign.
The three royals spearhead the charity – which aims to end the stigma around mental health and change the way it is talked about in national conversation – and are reportedly set to outline their plans for the campaign at an event in central London on Tuesday (17.01.17).
According to the Daily Express newspaper, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, 34 and 35 respectively, and Prince Harry, 32, will also meet with leaders from the world of media, technology, and business in the hopes of getting them to become supporters of their project.
During the event, the trio are expected to meet guests and give short speeches which will set out their expectations for the next year of Heads Together campaigning.
This year, Heads Together has been named as the charity of the year for 2017 London Marathon, and the campaign believes the honour is the “perfect springboard” to take them closer to their goal.
Writing on their website, the charity said: “Being the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year is the perfect springboard for the Heads Together campaign.
“We cannot wait to see hundreds of runners hitting the streets of London in April to end the stigma and change the conversation on mental health once and for all.”
During the charity’s last major event – which took place in October – the royals marked World Mental Health Day by pleading for society to recognise that psychological problems are suffered by people from many different walks of life.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Prince William is set to give up his job as a helicopter pilot for the Air Ambulance service in order to focus more time on issues such as tackling homelessness and raising awareness about mental health issues.

Queen Elizabeth to visit Fiji exhibition at University of East Anglia

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth II will visit the University of East Anglia this month to view a new exhibition on the history of Fiji.
The 90-year-old royal and her husband Prince Philip, 95, will make the trip to the University, based in Norwich, at the end of January for a tour of the Sainsbury Centre’s exhibition on the art and cultural history of the South Pacific archipelago.
‘Fiji: Art & Life in the Pacific’ is reportedly the “largest and most comprehensive exhibition about Fiji ever assembled”, according to the website for the visual art centre.
The website says of the exhibition: “The largest and most comprehensive exhibition about Fiji ever assembled, it will take the visitor on a journey through the art and cultural history of Fiji since the late 18th century.”
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are expected to visit the University campus on January 27, and the Sainsbury Centre will be closed to the public for the duration of their visit.
Director of the Sainsbury Centre Professor Paul Greenhalgh said: “It is a huge privilege to welcome The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. I am sure they will enjoy this extraordinary show.”
For the Queen, her expected visit to the exhibition comes as she recently made her first visit to church since being struck with a heavy cold over the Christmas period which prevented her from attending the traditional Christmas and New Year’s Day church services.
Last week, it was reported that Queen Elizabeth was feeling “better”, after her 66-year-old daughter Princess Anne assured well-wishers her mother was well during the services at Sandringham that were missed by the royal.

Prince William responsible for increase in Air Ambulance donations

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William is reportedly responsible for the sharp increase in corporate donations to the East Anglia Air Ambulance.
The 34-year-old royal started working as a helicopter pilot for the Air Ambulance in July 2015, and new figures show the donations made to the charity-run service by businesses has rocketed in what is being called the ‘Prince William Effect’.
Figures obtained by the Daily Mail newspaper show that the amount of money coming from business donations since the royal started working for the charity rose from £55,101 in 2015, to a whopping £163,082 in 2016.
However, despite the increase in business revenue, figures in the same report show that public funding to the service has dropped by six percent.
Prince William – who shares Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 20 months, with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – and his colleagues reportedly carried out 2,046 missions from June 2015 to July 2016, and helped around 1,377 patients across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Essex, and Hertfordshire.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Prince William would be giving up his job with the Air Ambulance service in order to become a full-time royal, but it has been suggested he won’t use his free time to take on more royal duties than his father, 68-year-old Prince Charles, as he doesn’t want to appear to be “elbowing his father out of the way”.
A friend of Prince William said: “Some people may question why William still won’t do as much as Princess Anne but he is dead set on not queering his father’s pitch.
“He sees that Charles will probably be in his seventies before he becomes king and he doesn’t want to be seen as elbowing his father out the way.”
Instead, sources claim the royal will use his time to focus on other issues that matter to him, such as tackling homelessness and raising awareness about mental health issues.

Prince George to join 'chaotic mob' at Wetherby School?

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince George is reportedly set to join the “chaotic mob” at Wetherby School.
The three-year-old royal – whose parents are Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – is set to start his education in September, but according to letters sent to the Kensington and Chelsea council, the school he is tipped to be joining is riddled with “intolerable, screaming children.”
In the letters obtained by the Daily Telegraph newspaper, seven residents in Pembridge Square – where apartments sell for around £4.3 million – have filed complaints about the unruly school children.
The publication reports the children are said to make “nuisance levels of noise”, and often cause carnage in residents’ gardens with balls and other objects that go over the school’s fence during breaks.
The residents claim: “No fewer than nine netballs – and a hula hoop – have landed in one local garden in recent weeks.”
Parents of the school children, however, have dismissed the locals’ claims as “churlish”.
One parent told the Evening Standard newspaper: “This is ridiculously over the top. If the children go out there it’s only usually during play break of about 10 minutes. Everyone is very considerate. This is just churlish.”
Meanwhile, it was recently speculated that whilst Wetherby School – which was attended by both 34-year-old Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry, 32 – was the first choice for the young Prince, he may be enrolling in a brand new quieter school called Wetherby Kensington as it’s “more discreet” than the original school.
A source said recently: “The Duke and Duchess like the idea of George enrolling at the new smaller school because it is much more discreet than the original Wetherby.
“A few of the pupils at that school in Notting Hill are the children of celebrities so it has always attracted quite a lot of paparazzi.
“Although the children cannot be photographed, there is still a market for pictures of famous parents on the school run.”

Queen Elizabeth to 'take in' late gamekeeper's dogs?

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth II may “take in” her late gamekeeper’s dogs after having walked them for him for two years.
The 90-year-old royal is known for her love of corgis, and despite having previously said her current set of pooches would be her last, she is reportedly considering taking in Bill Fenwick’s two dogs – a corgi and a Bichon Frise – after he passed away last week aged 95.
Queen Elizabeth had reportedly been taking the two pooches on weekly walks since 2015, when Bill’s wife Nancy – who also worked as Her Royal Highness’ dog-keeper – passed away, and Bill himself was too ill.
A royal insider told the Daily Express newspaper: “The Queen was very fond of Nancy and Bill and they became close friends.
“Bill was not in the best of health and was unable to exercise the dogs much.
“As well as the corgi he also had a Bichon Frise. So most Sundays after lunch the Queen would visit him and take the pair out in the park.
“It was her way of saying thank you for being such loyal friends over the years and for looking after her dogs all that time.
“She was very upset to hear about Bill’s death and she is considering taking the dogs if his family can’t look after them.
“Bill was yet another close friend that she has lost in recent years and it must be very hard.
“It’s true the Queen didn’t want any more young dogs but Bill’s pair are getting on and she is very fond of them, so it’s quite possible that she will take them in.”
Since 1945, the Queen is reported to have had over 30 corgis, all of which are descended from one canine named Susan, whom she was gifted on her 18th birthday.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip attend church service in wake of Lord Snowdon's death

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip have attended a church service in the wake of Lord Snowdon’s death.
The 90-year-old royal and her husband, 95, made an appearance at the solemn church service just outside Sandringham on Sunday (15.01.17), two days after the royal photographer passed away peacefully at home aged 86.
Joining them in the service was David Armstrong-Jones, the 55-year-old son of the late Lord Snowdon and his ex-wife Princess Margaret – the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth – who passed away in 2002.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the royals appeared to be in high spirits despite the sombre mood of the event as they arrived at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Flitcham, Norfolk.
For the couple, the outing marks their second appearance in public since the Queen was struck with a heavy cold which prevented her from attending the traditional Christmas and New Year’s Day church services.
Last week, it was reported that Queen Elizabeth was feeling “better”, after her 66-year-old daughter Princess Anne assured well-wishers her mother was well during the services at Sandringham that were missed by the royal.
The Queen’s decision to miss the festive church may have come as a shock to some – as it was the first time in 30 years she was unable to attend the ceremony – but Buckingham Palace said at the time, that missing the church service was a “precautionary measure” and it was not a cause for concern.
They said at the time: “[It was] a precautionary measure but there was no sense of undue concern.”

Prince Charles writes book on climate change

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles has written a book on climate change.
The 68-year-old royal has teamed up with Ladybird books – who typically produce books aimed at children but have recently found success in a number of humorously titled books aimed at adults – to pen the piece which takes on the challenges and possible solutions to the issue of climate change.
Tony Juniper – a former Friends of the Earth director – helped the Prince write the book along with Cambridge University climate scientist Emily Shuckburgh.
Tony told the Mail on Sunday of the book: “His Royal Highness, Emily and I had to work very hard to make sure that each word did its job, while at the same time working with the pictures to deliver the points we needed to make.
“I hope we’ve managed to paint a vivid picture, and like those iconic titles from the 60s and 70s, created a title that will stand the test of time.”
Meanwhile Rowland White, a publishing director with Penguin, which produces Ladybird books, said it was Clarence House who approached the publishers with the idea, and said the “coincidence” came at just the right time.
He said: “It was a coincidence where we were thinking about a new series for adults after the huge success of the spoof books, but this time wanted some factual books by experts on science, history and arts subjects.
“So the call and the idea from Clarence House was the catalyst for the new series.”
The 48-page book – named ‘The Ladybird Book on Climate Change’ – is expected to be released later this month as part of a new series of Ladybird books for adults entitled ‘The Ladybird Expert’.

Meghan Markle's brother 'incredibly sorry' after allegedly holding a gun to his lover's head

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle’s half-brother is “incredibly sorry” after he allegedly put a gun to his lover’s head whilst drunk.
Thomas Markle Jr. has told loved ones he is “seeking help” for his drinking problem which he claims led to the alleged incident involving his lover Darlene Blount, which took place in Oregon, US, last week.
The 50 year old – who’s half-sister Meghan is currently dating Prince Harry – said: “I am incredibly sorry for my actions and I’m especially sorry to everyone affected by my drinking.
“I am seeking help and I promise I will be the best person I can be going forward. Thank you for understanding.”
And Thomas’ son Tyler, 24, has branded his father’s alleged actions as “an embarrassment”, but said it was difficult for him because Meghan’s relationship with the 32-year-old royal has put their family “in the spotlight”.
He told The Sun newspaper: “He knows it is an embarrassment to Meghan and the family.
“He is very sorry and is apologising to everyone. He just needs some time to heal and reflect on life. But he wants to apologise for everything.
“He is in the spotlight now and everyone gets to see his flaws.
“Due to being inebriated, his emotions got the better of him and he got into an argument with his girlfriend. He’s not like this normally.
“I also want to apologise on behalf of my dad. Unfortunately, my father has a problem with alcohol. He is now in recovery.”
Thomas was taken into custody for the alleged offence on Thursday (12.01.17), and was charged with menacing, pointing a firearm at another person, and unlawful use of a weapon.
An official police log of the incident stated: “Markle and Blount got into an argument.
“In his drunken state Markel grabbed a gun and pressed it to Blount’s head in an attempt to get her to leave.”

Prince William 'won't do' as many royal duties as Prince Charles

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William “won’t do as much” as his father Prince Charles, despite giving up his job as an Air Ambulance pilot in favour of becoming a full-time royal.
The 34-year-old Prince is set to throw in the towel at his current job as a helicopter pilot for the Air Ambulance service, but it has been suggested he won’t use his free time to take on more royal duties than his father, 68-year-old Prince Charles, as he doesn’t want to appear to be “elbowing his father out of the way”.
A friend of Prince William told The Sunday Times newspaper: “Some people may question why William still won’t do as much as Princess Anne but he is dead set on not queering his father’s pitch.
“He sees that Charles will probably be in his seventies before he becomes king and he doesn’t want to be seen as elbowing his father out the way.”
Instead, sources claim Prince William – who has two children Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 20 months, with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – will instead use his time to focus on issues that matter to him, such as tackling homelessness and raising awareness about mental health issues.
The royal demonstrated his interest in charity work last week when he visited a child bereavement centre and was seen comforting a young girl by telling her how he too had dealt with the death of his mother, Princess Diana, at a young age.
He told nine-year-old Aoife: “Do you know what happened to me?
“You know I lost my mummy when I was very young too. I was 15 and my brother (Prince Harry) was 12. So we lost our mummy when we were young as well.
“Do you speak about your daddy? It’s very important to talk about it, very, very important.”

Pippa Middleton's future brother-in-law Spencer Matthews to compete on 'The Jump'

OHMYGOSSIP — Pippa Middleton’s future brother-in-law Spencer Matthews has signed up to risky television show ‘The Jump’.
The 27-year-old reality star – who is the younger brother of Pippa’s racing driver fiancé James Matthews – will take part in the riskiest show on British television as he joins a host of other celebrities taking on dangerous winter sports.
‘The Jump’ – which will be shown on Channel 4 for six weeks and starts on February 2 – will see contestants battle against each other in sports such as the skeleton, ski cross, bobsleigh, downhill slalom and snowskates.
At the end of each week, the two celebrities who fail to impress the viewing public must then go head to head in a live ski jump, which has seen numerous injuries over the years.
Viewers demanded the show be pulled off screen last year after Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle broke her back, swimmer Rebecca Adlington dislocated her shoulder and actress Tina Hobley fractured her arm while taking part in the competition last January.
However, the programme was granted another series, and show bosses insist there will be less risks this time as much of the show will be pre-recorded.
A source said: “The celebrities flew out yesterday and will be filming for at least a month before the show starts. The producers don’t want to risk anything this year and pre-recording most stuff makes it a lot easier.
“There have been a few injuries on camera in the past – not just in training – so they want to avoid those situations. It also means the celebs won’t take bigger risks as the adrenaline won’t be pumping like it does on the live shows.”
If Spencer manages to get through the show without injury, he will see his brother James and Pippa – who is the younger sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – tie the knot in May.

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla support Scotland flooding victims

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla have shown their support for a charity album for the victims of flooding in Scotland.
The 68-year-old royal and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, travelled to the Scottish village of Ballater in Aberdeenshire where a concert was held to raise funds for those who were left devastated when flooding from the River Dee destroyed around 600 homes and 100 business in December 2015.
The charity album, entitled ‘Immortal Memory’, is a collection of music by the University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir, directed by composer Paul Mealor, and was premiered at the concert in Glenmuick Church on Thursday (12.01.17)
Prince Charles had been staying in Balmoral when the floods hit the village, and travelled to visit the destruction at the time.
He also contributed to a fundraising drive to rebuild a caravan park, and is supporting further redevelopment of the town with the opening of a restaurant called The Rothesay Rooms.
Speaking at the concert, Prince Charles said: “It was only a year ago when my wife and I came here, following the awful floods, and it was incredible to see how he had made such an enormous difference to so many people’s lives who were having such a terrible time – as you all remember too well.
“I can never get over how remarkably resilient and courageous you all are for what you have had to put up with, and the way you have overcome these terrible challenges which have been thrown at you.
“It is a very special place, Ballater, and it has been wonderful to see how so many of the shops have been able to get back to trading again.
“And let us hope, ladies and gentlemen, that, from now on, things will greatly improve.
“This CD will make an enormous difference to the Ballater Flood Appeal.”
‘Immortal Memory’ by the University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir will be available in selected record stores and available for digital download on Amazon and iTunes from January 20.

Prince William and Prince Harry to honour late Princess Diana with National Kindness Day

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William and Prince Harry will honour their late mother Princess Diana with a National Kindness Day.
The two royals lost their mother in a fatal car crash in Paris in 1997, and to mark the 20th anniversary of her tragic passing, the Diana Award – a charity which was established in 1999 to support young people’s ability to change the world – has announced plans for a number of initiatives aimed at promoting the late Princess’s qualities of kindness and compassion.
Prince William, 34, and Prince Harry, 32, will take part in a number of the planned events, which will include a National Kindness Day – where people are encouraged to do something nice for the sake of another – in March.
Tessy Ojo, chief executive of the Diana Award, said in a statement: “What’s 2017 all about? It’s about celebrating the legacy of Princess Diana, 20 years on. Diana, Princess of Wales was known worldwide for her values of compassion, her values of kindness and her values of service to others.
“Twenty years on, we at the Diana Award know that her values and her legacy live on through the tens of thousands of young people who only know her as an historic figure, but are committed to continuing those values.”
As of yet, the events which will be attended by the royal brothers has not been confirmed, but Tessy claimed both Princes have been kept up to date and fully support the proposed programme.
