Prince Harry jogs for charity

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry embarked on a 17-minute brisk jog in London in aid of The Running Charity.
The 32-year-old royal donned a pair of running tights as he headed out onto the streets of Willesden Green in north-west London on Thursday (26.01.17) in a demonstration by The Running Charity which aims to use sport to teach life skills to homeless youth.
Prince Harry was joined by a group of homeless young people as he underwent the training session with Claude Umuhire – a programme officer for the charity – which included a strenuous warm-up session before they headed outside.
Claude said of Harry after the jog: “He didn’t find any of it hard, I think he’s been training just for today. He found everything easy.
“I tried to get him in the warm-up but he did pretty well, he kept giving me looks though every time I said five squats.”
And Claude, 26, also commented on the royal’s celebrity status as members of the public stopped to take pictures of the rare sight.
He added to the Daily Express newspaper: “There was a woman who was pulling out of her driveway then she realised who he was and she drove in front of us and started taking pictures of him.
“And as we were leaving, there was a guy at the traffic lights who looked across and did a double take – the joy in his face it was so funny, his eyes just opened up, he was so happy.”
And Prince Harry told his group of runners after the event: “You have all made the decision to go running. Now you are all ambassadors for The Running Charity.”
The Running Charity – who aim to use running to help build fitness and goal-setting mentalities within homeless young people so they can start living healthy and sustainable lives – was opened by Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana in 1995.

Princess Charlene of Monaco 'has grown into her role'

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Charlene of Monaco has grown into her role as a royal, according to her husband Prince Albert.
The 39-year-old former Olympian married the Prince in 2011 and he has heaped praise on his wife, saying she has grown into the role as time has passed.
He said: “It’s more an ongoing process, getting her more familiarised with the people of Monaco, the institutional side, to give her a better understanding of how things work.
“In the past, I haven’t always had as much time as I’d like to devote to that because I’ve been travelling and she has work with her foundation, and I didn’t want to throw too much at her at once.
“I know that it was an issue. People felt they didn’t see enough of her in Monaco. And she wants to and will do more of that, but she’s wanted to be as involved as she can in raising the children.”
Prince Albert also opened up about his family Christmas, which he spent with his wife and their two children, two-year-old twins Princess Gabriella and Jacques, Hereditary Prince of Monaco.
He told PEOPLE: “Christmas was great. The kids got a bunch of different toys – puzzles, a Playmobil house. I assembled that myself with help from my brother-in-law Sean. We screwed a few bolts in. It was great. Fun times.”
Back in 2015, Prince Albert admitted to underestimating his wife – and he still stands by his original statement.
He explained: “I’ve learned she has an incredible resilience. And pace. Husbands and wives sometimes rediscover one another’s qualities, and she has good judgement. She has excellent judgement in people. If she trusts somebody, there’s reason.
“She can also be a little more harsh than I am. But she often turns out to be right. She gets a good first impression of people. I’m more likely to give someone a second chance, or say, ‘Let’s wait and see …'”

Meghan Markle returns to star in Suits

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle has returned to ‘Suits’ for the first time since her relationship with Prince Harry became public.
The 35-year-old actress – who has been dating the British royal since mid-2016 – stars as paralegal Rachel in the popular series and has made her return to TV screens, after the last episode aired in September 2016.
Meghan has become one of the most famous women in the world since she last appeared on the show, as her relationship with the Prince only came to light in November.
Since then, things appeared to have become increasingly serious between the duo, with Harry having whisked her away for a romantic getaway to Norway over the New Year period.
What’s more, Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. recently claimed marriage is “on the cards” for her and the British royal.
The 50-year-old half-brother of the ‘Suits’ actress was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly held a gun to his lover’s head following a drunken argument.
But Thomas said he “still wants to go” to Meghan’s royal wedding should the couple decide to tie the knot.
He said: “Marriage and kids is on the cards for Meghan and Harry and I still want to go to the wedding if they’ll let me.
“Of course I want to go to London and Buckingham Palace.
“Their relationship has been going from strength to strength and this drama is the last thing I wanted to happen. I want to tell Meghan I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart.”
Prior to that, Thomas apologised to loved ones after his actions, and revealed he was “seeking help” to curb his drinking problem.
He said: “I am incredibly sorry for my actions and I’m especially sorry to everyone affected by my drinking.
“I am seeking help and I promise I will be the best person I can be going forward. Thank you for understanding.”

Prince Charles makes dramatic entrance during royal visit

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles arrived at Mountsorrel Railway Station on the footplate of a steam train during his royal visit on Wednesday (01.25.17).
The 68-year-old royal thrilled an enthusiastic crowd, which included 800 school children, as he made a dramatic entrance to the train platform, where he was greeted by a piper and a host of civic dignitaries.
Leah Gregson, 11, told the Leicester Mercury newspaper: “It was really fun and he seemed really nice.”
The train ride represented Prince Charles’ last stop on his tour of the Leicestershire area and the royal took the time to unveil a plaque to officially open the nearby Mountsorrel and Rothley Community Heritage Centre.
His visit was warmly welcomed by people in the local area, including George Lees.
The nine-year-old primary school pupil said: “He shook my hand! He really shook my hand! He asked me if I liked my school and I said yes.”
This comes shortly after a report revealed 52 percent of the British public would prefer to see Prince William succeed Queen Elizabeth rather than Prince Charles.
According to the report conducted by Opinium Research, just 27 percent of people would like to see Prince Charles become the King, while the report also revealed that 65 percent of UK adults still support a hereditary monarchy.
James Endersby, Managing Director of Opinium Research, said: “The monarchy clearly retains the support of the British public, and our tracker indicates that the institution is as popular now as it ever was.
“However, young people are not as invested as the older generation and this does raise questions about the future of the monarchy after the Queen – will the institution survive without one of history’s most respected sovereigns?”

MP hits out at Prince Charles over climate change proposal

OHMYGOSSIP — A Conservative Party MP has criticised Prince Charles for making political statements about climate change.
The 68-year-old royal has been outspoken in his views about global warming, but Philip Davies has hit out at the Prince’s call for details of where climate change is increasing to be included in daily weather forecasts.
He said, according to the Daily Mail newspaper: “As ideas go, it is definitely high on the scale of idiotic. We put the weather forecast on to know if we need to take a brolly out with us.
“We don’t need some propaganda shoved down our throats. I’m afraid that Prince Charles is far too keen to get involved in a political debate and a political issue.”
Prince Charles’ idea has also been shot down by Chris England, of Sky News.
He explained: “We don’t have the time to do that. You can’t directly link any individual event to global warming on a day-to-day level. As far as we are concerned, it would be a non-starter.”
But former BBC weather forecaster Michael Fish has come out in support of the Prince, admitting that more needs to be done to tackle the problem of global warming.
However, he said: “I cannot see how you could do it on a daily basis. You would probably be boring the public after a while, because I fear you would be saying the same thing time and time again.”
Prince Charles ignited the debate when he called for action on climate change, saying: “We might be more inclined to think about the longer term if we were more aware of what is happening around us.
“Perhaps daily weather forecasts could include a few basic facts about the Earth’s vital signs, or details of where climate change is increasing the likelihood of damaging weather?”

Duchess of Cornwall highlights global warming benefit

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Cornwall thinks global warming could be beneficial for the UK’s wine industry.
The 69-year-old royal appears to be a loggerheads with her eco-conscious husband Prince Charles after she highlighted one of the potential upsides of climate change.
Speaking at an event to celebrate the British wine growing industry, Camilla said: “We don’t exactly have the climate, or we didn’t [50 years ago].
“I expect with global warming it’s going to get better and better and we are going to get better and better wine.”
Camilla, who is the president of the United Kingdom Vineyard Association, also revealed that she has a long-standing appreciation of wine.
She said, according to the Daily Mail newspaper: “People always ask me how I became involved in it all.
“Well, first of all I love wine. But secondly my father was in the wine business, so I was brought up as a child drinking wine and water rather like the French.”
Camilla’s remarks come shortly after her husband threw his support behind a campaign that aims to stop plastic being dumped in the oceans.
Prince Charles called for a deposit scheme for bottles to be introduced to address the problem.
Speaking about the Ocean Rescue campaign, he said: “One of the most troubling environmental trends, as I see it at least, is the progressive build-up of plastic waste in the oceans.
“Eighty per cent of it is coming from the land as everyday products such as plastic bags, straws and bottles as they travel along the rivers to the sea and finish up being spread right around the world, even on the most remote stretches of oceans, the farthest-flung beaches on earth and the deepest reaches of the ocean.
“Some of that plastic is being swallowed by sea birds, by whales, by dolphins, seals and other creatures to the point today where plastic waste is estimated to be in the guts of all marine mammals.”

Duchess of Cambridge is 'very well looked after' by Prince William

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Cambridge is “very well looked after” by her husband.
The 35-year-old royal – who married Prince William in 2011 – made the confession during a visit to a hospice in Quidenham, where she revealed to Daisy Benton, one of the young children at the hospice, what it was like to be a real-life Princess.
Daisy’s mum Michala revealed: “Daisy asked her what it was like to be a real princess and Kate said she’s very well looked after by her husband. Daisy is four and absolutely loves princesses.
“Kate also said about her kids that Charlotte and George run in different directions all the time. She was very down to earth and was happy to sit with Isabella.”
During her visit, the Duchess walked into a room jam-packed with toys and appeared to make a reference to her three-year-old son Prince George.
The royal – who also shares 20-month-old Princess Charlotte with her husband – said, according to the Daily Mail newspaper: “I can see these going down very well with someone I might know.”
Meanwhile, Hugo Vickers, the author of biographies of the Queen Mother and the Duchess of Windsor, recently claimed the Duchess “hasn’t put a foot wrong” since she became a royal.
Hugo said the Duchess has played her role perfectly until now.
He explained: “It’s only natural that if you’re in the third generation, you’re going to play a supportive role. She’s obviously a very important person, but you don’t want to compete.
“The Queen Mother was the same when she was Duchess of York. There was Queen Mary and Queen Alexandra as well for a time, so she was rather a mousy figure for the first 13 years after she married Prince Bertie. Catherine hasn’t put a foot wrong. She does her duties well, such as her involvement with the National Portrait Gallery and new role at Wimbledon.”

Royals to pay visit to Hull for City of Culture celebrations

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are to visit Hull in February to mark the city’s 2017 City of Culture celebrations.
The royal duo are scheduled to arrive in the city on February 8, when they will tour Ferens Art Gallery and Holy Trinity Church, and visit a number of local projects.
Councillor Stephen Brady, who is a leader for Hull City Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Their Royal Highnesses to the city at the start of our year as UK City of Culture and it is great to see that some of the most important local projects in Hull will be recognised during the visit.”
The announcement of the visit comes shortly after a report suggested Prince William “won’t do as much” as his father Prince Charles, despite giving up his job as an Air Ambulance pilot in favour of becoming a full-time royal.
Even though he will have more free time on his hands, Prince William won’t use it to take on more royal duties than his dad, 68-year-old Prince Charles, as he doesn’t want to appear to be “elbowing his father out of the way”.
A unnamed friend of Prince William recently told a Sunday newspaper: “Some people may question why William still won’t do as much as Princess Anne but he is dead set on not queering his father’s pitch.
“He sees that Charles will probably be in his seventies before he becomes king and he doesn’t want to be seen as elbowing his father out the way.”
Prince William – who has Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 20 months, with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – will instead use his time to focus on issues that matter to him, such as tackling homelessness and raising awareness about mental health issues.

Duchess of Cornwall hosts reception for Rio 2016 heroes

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Cornwall has hosted a celebratory reception for the British Equestrian teams at the 2016 Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Camilla, who is a patron of the British Equestrian Federation, has met with medal-winning equestrian stars and their support staff from the Rio Games at Clarence House in London.
Among the guests in attendance at the event was Paralympic triple Rio gold medallist Sophie Christiansen, who was recently awarded a CBE by Queen Elizabeth.
Another attendee was equestrian Spencer Wilton, who wore his medal from the Rio Olympics for the special occasion.
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that the Duchess is to judge BBC Radio 2’s annual 500 Words short story competition for kids.
The 69-year-old royal, who has been married to Prince Charles since 2005, made her judging debut for the children’s creative writing competition last year, and is set to take a seat on the panel once again in 2017.
The news was announced on the radio station’s Twitter page earlier this month, with presenter Chris Evans saying: “Secure your place at the 500 Words final from the Tower of London!
“BBC Radio 2’s writing competition for kids, with our honorary judge Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall.”
The Duchess is to be joined on the judging panel by authors Charlie Higson, Malorie Blackman, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, and Francesca Simon.

The winning stories will be announced at the Tower of London on June 16, and will be read out to audiences by a star-studded line up of narrators.

Prince Charles set to meet Afghan refugee

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles is poised to meet an Afghan refugee who hitch-hiked across Europe to reach Britain.
The 69-year-old royal is set to greet 16-year-old refugee Baseer Omarkhil Khan – who completed school with the help of the Prince’s Trust – during a royal visit to Leicester.
Baseer arrived in the UK when he was just 11 and was unable to speak any English, the Leicester Mercury reports.
However, after settling with a foster family in Leicester, Baseer’s life has been totally transformed and he is now studying motor mechanics at the City of Leicester College.
The royal visit will also see Charles hear about the efforts that are being made to ensure there is more trust between the armed forces and faith groups, while he is set to greet volunteers who have helped to restore the Victorian Mountsorrel Railway, too.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, a report revealed 52 percent of the British public would prefer to see Prince William succeed Queen Elizabeth rather than Prince Charles.
The poll, conducted by Opinium Research, found that just 27 percent of people would like to see Prince Charles become the King.
What’s more, the research revealed that 65 percent of UK adults still support a hereditary monarchy, while a mere 19 percent of UK adults hope Britain will become a republic.

Prince Charles backs environmental campaign

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles has thrown his support behind a campaign that aims to stop plastic being dumped in the oceans.
The 68-year-old royal has called for a deposit scheme for bottles to be introduced and it’s hoped that his influence will encourage manufacturers, supermarkets and politicians to address the environmental issue as a matter of urgency.
Speaking about the Ocean Rescue campaign, he told Sky News: “One of the most troubling environmental trends, as I see it at least, is the progressive build-up of plastic waste in the oceans.
This comes shortly after the Prince described climate change as the “wolf at the door”.
Prince Charles recently joined forces with Tony Juniper, a former Friends of the Earth director, and Cambridge University climate scientist Emily Shuckburgh to write a book about the challenges and possible solutions to the issue of climate change.
In his foreword for the book, the Prince of Wales wrote: “I hope this modest attempt to alert a global public to the ‘wolf at the door’ will make some small contribution towards encouraging requisite action; action that must be urgently scaled up, and scaled up now.”

The 35-year-old Duchess is the patron of children’s charity Place2Be, a national charity which aims to provide emotional support to children in schools, and will be in attendance for the event alongside her husband Prince William, 34.
‘The Big Assembly’ will take place at Mitchell Brook Primary School during Children’s Mental Health Week – which runs from February 6 to February 12 – and will consist of a number of activities centred around the running theme of kindness.

Queen Elizabeth producing sparkling wine

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth II has produced 3,000 bottles of sparkling wine from her Windsor Great Park estate.
The 90-year-old royal has reportedly joined the recent sparkling wine craze which sees the UK ship out to a reported 27 countries and boasts annual sales of around £100 million, according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The Queen – who has her own vineyard on the Windsor Great Park estate – had 16,700 chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier vines planted across a seven-acre patch in 2011.
In 2013, the grapes were picked before undergoing a fermenting and blending process and spending two years ageing in cellars.
The finished product was available to purchase three months ago from online wine retailers Laithwaite’s – who charged £75 for a three-bottle gift set – but was soon completely sold out.
According to the Daily Telegraph, a second batch of the wine – which is labelled as having 12 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) – is expected to hit shelves at £35 a bottle later this year, with production estimated to increase to 20,000 bottles a year within the next seven years.
Tamara Roberts, chief executive of the Ridgeview estate in Ditchling, East Sussex – where the grapes are turned into wine – described the product as “delicious”.
She added to the publication: “As the vineyard matures, the wines will get better and better.”
And it isn’t just Queen Elizabeth who has taken an interest in the wine making industry, as her 95-year-old husband Prince Philip has reportedly kept a “close eye” on the vineyard’s progress through his role as head ranger of the Great Park.
Meanwhile, Julia Trustram Eve of the English Wine Producers trade body said of the wine: “It is fantastic to see another home-grown success.
“I have not been fortunate enough to taste any myself, but I have dropped a monumental hint with the maker that I would very much like to do so.”

Prince Harry: 'Mental fitness' is important for war veterans

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has urged military veterans to work on their “mental fitness”.
The 32-year-old royal – who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan before leaving the Army – visited a Help for Heroes recovery centre at Tedworth House in Wiltshire on Monday (23.01.17) and spoke to wounded servicemen and women about the importance of strengthening both mental and physical fitness.
He said: “Getting back your mental as well as your physical fitness is a really important thing.
“One of the biggest struggles is accepting that there is a problem in the first place.”
The recovery centre also runs Tedworth’s Hidden Wounds psychological and wellbeing service which aims to help those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as depression, stress, anger, anxiety, and early stage alcohol issues often connected with leaving the military service.
During his visit, Prince Harry – who previously hinted that he himself suffers from flashbacks to his time in the service – met with Mike Day, 34, a former sniper section commander whose back was broken when he was hit by a grenade in Afghanistan in 2009.
Prince Harry spoke to Mike about his experiences, who said the hardest part was “accepting” what had happened.
Mike told the royal: “To be honest the most difficult thing was accepting that I would never get back the person I was before.
“I was at the height of my career and knowing that I could never do that job again was a big shock, it still is.
“This place, just doing the woodwork and carving is so therapeutic. There is no one telling us what to do, it’s just us working as a team. I come up here once a month for four days and this place always brings out the best in me.”
Prince Harry then reassured the veteran, saying it was “remarkable” what he had achieved despite his injuries.
He said: “Getting back your mental health, mental wellbeing, your mental fitness is a really important thing. Rather than operating at fifty or sixty per cent you can operate at eighty or ninety percent and be a better person. Look at what you have achieved with this. It is remarkable. I thought I was good at carpentry, but clearly I’m not.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wedding 'on the cards'?

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. says marriage is “on the cards” for her and Prince Harry, and wants an invite “if they’ll let him”.
The 50-year-old half-brother of the ‘Suits’ actress – who has been dating Prince Harry for around seven months – was arrested last week after allegedly holding a gun to his lover’s head following a drunken argument, but has said he “still wants to go” to Meghan’s royal wedding should budding couple decide to tie the knot.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Marriage and kids is on the cards for Meghan and Harry and I still want to go to the wedding if they’ll let me.
“Of course I want to go to London and Buckingham Palace.
“Their relationship has been going from strength to strength and this drama is the last thing I wanted to happen. I want to tell Meghan I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart.”
The news comes after Thomas previously apologised to loved ones after his actions, and said he was “seeking help” to curb his drinking problem.
He said: “I am incredibly sorry for my actions and I’m especially sorry to everyone affected by my drinking.
“I am seeking help and I promise I will be the best person I can be going forward. Thank you for understanding.”
Meanwhile, Thomas’ comments are part of a string of engagement rumours surrounding the 35-year-old actress and her royal boyfriend, as sources previously claimed Harry, 32, was already “serious” about his relationship.
A source claimed: “Harry is more serious [about Meghan] then he ever has been about a woman before.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s already thinking about engagement just because that’s where his head goes.”
Another source said those close to the pair “wouldn’t be surprised” if there was a ring on Meghan’s finger this year.
They said: “Those close to Harry and Meghan wouldn’t be surprised if there will be an engagement announcement sometime this year.”

Duchess Catherine not wanted at BAFTAs?

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly not allowed to attend the BAFTA Awards as senior staff worry she’ll “totally distract” audiences from the film stars.
The 35-year-old Duchess is set to attend the star studded awards bash next month with her husband Prince William, who is the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), but the pair have reportedly been told by staff that the brunette beauty isn’t wanted over concerns she’ll outshine the A-List actresses.
A source said: “William has faced serious criticism from the film industry for missing the BAFTAs the last two years, despite being our president.
“As a result of that feedback, he made it clear he wants to go this year and even bring Kate.
“It would be a real show of his commitment towards BAFTA and create headlines around the world.
“But it was then expressed by senior staff within BAFTA that Kate’s attendance will totally distract from all the film stars there.”
And whilst sources suggest the 34-year-old royal – who shares three-year-old Prince George and 20-month-old Princess Charlotte with his wife whom he married in 2011 – will just bring the Duchess with him anyway, the confrontation has caused “awkwardness” between the two parties.
A second source told The Sun newspaper: “Most people think William will end up getting his way by bringing Kate but it’s created awkwardness because her attendance shouldn’t have been in question.”
However, despite these claims it was reported that BAFTA “would be delighted” to welcome both Prince William and Duchess Catherine to their award ceremony.
They said in a statement on Monday night (23.01.17): “It is completely untrue that Bafta has suggested that our president attend on his own.
“We would be delighted to welcome Their Royal Highnesses any year they are able to attend.”
The BAFTAs will take place on February 12.
