Prince Charles ‘shocked’ to hear of Mexico ‘devastation’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles was “profoundly shocked” to hear of the recent earthquake “devastation” in Mexico.
The Prince of Wales has sent a message to the country’s president Enrique Peña Nieto from himself and wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, admitting they were “particularly sad” to learn of the deaths of so many youngsters following a number of recent natural disasters.
He said: “Having such fond and happy memories of our visit to Mexico three years ago, my wife and I were profoundly shocked to hear the dreadful news of the appalling devastation and loss of life that your country has suffered following the recent earthquakes. It was with particular sadness that we learnt of the death of so many young schoolchildren.”
Charles and Camilla admitted their “heats go out” to all the families suffering after a trio of huge earthquakes, including an 8.1 magnitude quake, struck the nation earlier this month.
He added: “We share your grief and, I can only imagine, the horror of your entire country that this latest disaster should have struck on the thirty-second anniversary of the terrible 1985 Mexico earthquake in which almost 10,000 people perished.
“However inadequate this may seem, my wife and I just wanted you to know that our hearts go out to the families and friends of all those who lost their loved ones, were injured or have lost their homes in this devastating tragedy.”
In November 2014, Charles and Camilla enjoyed a tour of Mexico and Colombia, which included taking part in the Day of the Dead celebrations in Real del Monte, Mexico.

Prince Harry ‘relaxed’ with Meghan Markle

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry looks more “relaxed” with Meghan Markle than his previous girlfriends.
That’s according to body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass, who believes the 33-year-old prince used to show a bit of “uptightness” while out in public with his former lovers – who have included Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy – but there was no such thing when he watched the Invictus Games with the ‘Suits’ star.
She said: “First of all, we’ve never seen Harry this relaxed with anybody. That’s number one. Every girl he’s been with, there’s kind of been a distancing, an uptightness about him, a real formality. But with Meghan you really see there’s a connection.”
Lillian admitted the pair are a “very warm-looking couple” and was pleased to see them being affectionate towards each other.
Speaking to DailyMail.com, she added: “Their hands are intertwined. Her smile is very genuine, as is his with the raised cheeks the mouth open. This is the real deal here.
“They’re trying to be formal. But the fact they’re both leaning into each other speaks volume.
“It’s really quite refreshing to see this type of affection in a way where you’re trying to be discreet, yet it’s leaking out.”
Meghan and Harry have been watching the Invictus Games in Toronto – where she lives and films TV show ‘Suits’ – and it comes after the royal recently introduced her to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
A source said: “Harry decided to take Meghan to visit as he hadn’t been up yet all summer.
“He wanted to introduce Meghan to the queen. It went well. It’ll no doubt be the first of many encounters. The entire weekend was a success. He was able to introduce someone he loves to someone he cares for deeply.”

Prince Harry: Invictus Games are life-changing

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has admitted the Invictus Games have “changed [his] life”.
The 33-year-old royal – who served in the Army for 10 years, including two tours of Afghanistan – believes people around the world should be inspired by the “respect” and “teamwork” shown by the contenders in the Olympics-style competition for injured service personnel.
Speaking about the Games, he said: “They’ve definitely changed my life.
“I think having a huge appreciation for service and duty is a life-changing moment. Anyone that has served in uniform, in a uniform, will be able to testify to that.
“Being able to wear your nation’s flag on your arm or on your chest, being part of a team, respect, teamwork, discipline, all of things … it’s lacking in the world today.”
The flame-haired prince – whose girlfriend Meghan Markle has been attending this year’s competition – also heaped praise on people in the Army past and present for doing their duty.
Speaking to the BBC, he added: “These individuals, people that have served, people that continue to serve, whether they be injured or not, are fantastic role models and role models I think everybody should be looking up to.”
Harry recently called upon people to “draw strength” from watching the “remarkable” Invictus Games competitors.
He said: “Back in 2013, I was able to witness the Warrior Games in Colorado and to see the power of sport was truly remarkable. Yet it wasn’t on an international scale and not enough people were being involved in it.
“These individuals and their stories are remarkable. The general public across the world need to see this, to draw strength from it and at the same time, competitors themselves will be able to use sport to be able to rehabilitate themselves.”
The Invictus Games are currently taking place in Toronto, Canada and will run until Saturday (30.09.17).

Prince William joins Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral church service

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William joined Queen Elizabeth in Balmoral over the weekend.
The 35-year-old royal was spotted arriving at Crathie Kirk for a morning church service with his grandmother on Sunday (24.09.17) whilst Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall travelled in a separate vehicle.
However, the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William’s wife, was noticeably absent. She is thought to still be at the family’s London residence in Kensington Palace after suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum as she is expecting the couple’s child.
It is believe that Prince William travelled up to Scotland to join the family for the annual Ghillies Ball, which is put on for the royal staff. He will return to London in the next few days whilst the Queen will stay in Balmoral until the beginning of October, before returning to Buckingham Palace.
And it is no surprise that Prince William was supporting his grandmother in Balmoral as it was previously revealed they share a “special closeness”.
Robert Lacey, historian and consultant to the hit Netflix series ‘The Crown’, said: “There has always been a special closeness between William and the Queen, and she has taken a particular interest in him. It’s no secret that she and Charles have had a prickly relationship at times.
“When William became a teenager, she would have him at Windsor Castle and would open the state boxes and guide him through the papers. It was William’s constitutional education.”
And William had previously described the Queen as a “role model”.
He said last year: “[She is] the best role model I could have. [She has] more of a soft influencing, modest kind of guidance. I don’t think she believes too heavily in instruction. My grandmother takes more of a passive role in how she believes her role should be. She’s above politics.”

David Johnston wants to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed

OHMYGOSSIP — David Johnston thinks it would be “marvellous” if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married.
The Governor General of Canada would love to see the flame-haired royal tie the knot with the ‘Suits’ star as he feels it would bring Canada and the United Kingdom even closer together.
He told ITV News: “I think it would be quite marvellous and I hope it would be quite marvellous for him and obviously it will help to bring us together. But, you know, that reflects so many of the people-to-people ties that are so strong. I think about 20 percent of our citizens would claim British heritage so those ties are very strong.”
It comes after a source claimed Harry and Meghan are “heading in [the] direction” of an engagement.
They explained: “Harry and Meghan are not engaged yet, reports that they are are jumping the gun slightly. They are definitely heading in that direction, but when they do get engaged Harry will follow Royal protocol and an announcement will be made by the Palace.
“Harry and Meghan are very much in love, but they both want to make completely sure that they are ready to take the next step before doing so. Harry does not want to make the same mistake as his mother and father did. When he marries it will be for life, and it’s not something he is going to rush into.
“There’s all manner of things Harry and Meghan need to decide before getting engaged, like where they will live, and if Meghan will continue with her acting career. She’s made it clear that she would like to continue working, and to do that she needs to spend a large amount of her time in Canada and the US.”

Prince Harry: The world should ‘draw strength’ from the Invictus Games

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry wants the world to “draw strength” from the Invictus Games.
The 33-year-old royal hopes the Olympics-style competition for injured service personnel will show everyone the importance of sport and its rehabilitation qualities.
And Dominic Reid, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation, admits none of the team could have ever really “understood the profound impact” that the event has had.
Speaking in a video published to The Royal Family’s YouTube account, Dominic added: “When we established the games in 2014, we knew we could put on a really good competition but I didn’t think we really understand the profound impact it was going to have on the recovery pathways of a lot of these people and also the effect it was going to have on their friends and family. We also didn’t gauge the impact it was going to have on the broader public.”
The Invictus Games are currently taking place in Toronto, Canada and will run until September 30.
Speaking previously about the games, Prince Harry said: “Time and time again, competitors from around the world tell me that sport has saved them; that the Invictus Games have given them a new lease on life; and that to represent their country again with fellow comrades is something they could only have dreamt of while lying in hospital.”

Meghan Markle attends Invictus Games

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle made an appearance at the Invictus Games over the weekend.
The ‘Suits’ star joined her boyfriend at the Olympics-style games for injured service personnel in Toronto, Canada but refrained from sitting with Harry and instead was seated in the VIP area whilst Harry’s security team looked on.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward, who is the editor in chief of Majesty Magazine, commented: “I think Prince Harry has certainly learnt over the years that putting his girlfriends in the front line simply makes life impossible for everyone. He probably had to explain to Meghan – who wouldn’t necessarily understand – why she couldn’t be at his side.
“It was much better that she was in the VIP stands with other spectators otherwise the focus would have been entirely on her. Distracting from the point of the games. I think it marks a very important step in their relationship. But it would have been extremely insulting if she hadn’t been there. It’s her home city and he is her boyfriend after all!”
And the flame-haired royal is showing how “serious” he is about Meghan by not having her sit with him at the event.
Seward added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “She might feel a bit stupid not being at his side but Prince Harry has such strong feelings about the games and the media. If he wants to conduct a proper relationship with Megan he has to carry it out in his own way and time.
“In an ideal world he would like her stuck to his side but obviously It would totally detract from the event which he has put a lot of energy into getting right. It shows a maturity on his part and shows how serious this relationship is. If you look back his former girlfriend Chelsy Davy was always at his side.”

Prince Harry urges doctors to find a ‘better way’ to tackle mental health

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry wants to find a “better way” to tackle mental health.
The flame-haired royal is calling for doctors to club together and realise that there is not a one pill fits all when it comes to treating mental illnesses.
Speaking at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Canada, he said: “It seems we suffer from a culture where a pill will fix everything. There has to be a better way than just giving out anti-depressants.
“There were 65 million [anti-depressants] given out in one year in the UK alone. That’s why I look to you guys in this room. Everyone is uniquely wired is what I keep saying. There is no one silver bullet, no one cure for everyone.”
During his visit to CAMH, Prince Harry was given a look at some of the pioneering work the centre is doing to help treat psychological conditions.
He added: “Everyone is doing their bit just trying to normalise it so people can seek help without judgment.”
And Gloria Chaim of the child, youth and family programme at CAMH, says Harry’s visit reminded her of when his mother Princess Diana had visited over 25 years ago.
She shared: “It was really inspiring when I met Princess Diana in 1991 – especially when mental health was this taboo subject. With Harry there today, it felt like he was carrying on her legacy and continuing a conversation she started many years ago.”

Prince Charles sends condolences to Hurricane Irma victims

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles has been “deeply saddened” by the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.
The natural disaster caused untold damage various Caribbean islands including Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, and the Turks and Caicos Islands when it tore through their land earlier this month before making its way to the US state of Florida.
And the 68-year-old royal – alongside his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall – has now sent his condolences to those affected by the tragedy, saying his “heart goes out” to all those involved in the destruction.
He said in a statement published to the Prince of Wales website: “My wife and I were so deeply saddened to hear of the dreadful loss of life and utter devastation caused by the recent catastrophic hurricane, Irma. We wanted you to know just how much our hearts go out to all those who have been so cruelly bereaved or injured, or whose homes have been destroyed.”
Charles’ statement comes just days after his mother Queen Elizabeth released a similar message of condolence aimed at the President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto, whose country was recently hit by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake.
She wrote: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the devastation following the terrible earthquake yesterday in Mexico.
“That it happened so soon after the powerful earthquake that hit southern Mexico less than two weeks ago is all the more concerning.
“Prince Philip and I send our sincere condolences to the victims of this disaster, to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who have seen their homes and property destroyed.
“My thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
“Elizabeth R.”
Meanwhile, celebrities such as actress Salma Hayek and Formula 1 racer Sergio Perez have donated generously to charities aimed at helping those who have been affected by the disaster in Mexico, whilst singer Shakira has urged her fans to give what they can to the cause.

Queen Elizabeth bestows royal title on hospital

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth has bestowed a royal title on Papworth Hospital.
The 91-year-old monarch has granted the hospital – which is one of Europe’s leading heart and lung hospitals – the royal title, meaning it will officially become Royal Papworth Hospital in 2018.
The hospital, which is near Cambridge, carried out important heart surgery on the Queen’s husband Prince Philip in 2011.
Papworth was also the place in which the UK’s first successful heart transplant took place in 1979, and world’s first successful heart, lung and liver transplant took place there in 1986.
With the name officially changing in 2018, the celebration will coincide with hospital’s 100th anniversary, after it was opened as a tuberculosis colony in the small Cambridgeshire village of Papworth Everard in 1918.
Since opening, the hospital has become renowned for its cardiothoracic procedures, treating more than 100,000 patients from across the UK each year.
In 2015 its surgeons were the first in Europe to successfully perform a heart transplant using a non-beating heart, and more than 30 such operations have been carried out since then, increasing its transplant rate by more than one third.
According to BBC News, a spokesman said the title will make Papworth Hospital the first “royal” hospital in the east of England.
He added: “[Papworth is being given the title] in recognition of its pioneering history and continued commitment to developing the treatments of the future.”
And Professor John Wallwork, chairman of Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and the surgeon who jointly performed the first heart, lung and liver transplant, told BBC News he was “thrilled to see the hospital get this recognition from the Queen.”

Prince William tells midwife he’ll see her ‘soon’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William has told a trainee midwife he may see her “sooner” than she thinks.
The 35-year-old royal is expecting his third child with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and during a visit to Spitalfields Crypt Trust earlier this week – where he met with recovering addicts to discuss the legalisation of drugs – he spoke to a trainee midwife, who he claimed may see him again in the near future.
He told her: “All the best with the midwifery, I may see you sooner than you think.”
His comments come after he previously admitted it was time to start “celebrating” the pregnancy, after claiming he wouldn’t do so until Catherine, also 35, had pushed past her bout of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the severe morning sickness she also suffered with her first two pregnancies.
Prince William – who has four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte with his spouse – said: “I was a bit anxious to start with, but [we can] start celebrating this week.”
William’s comments seemingly confirmed the third royal baby is due in March, as although he didn’t confirm the due date, people tend not to celebrate their pregnancy until they hit the three-month mark as there is less chance of miscarriage, and it’s usually when parents are able to see their baby properly on a scan.
The couple – who got married in 2011 – announced their pregnancy in a statement.
It said: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.
“As with her previous two pregnancies, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today.
“The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.”

Prince George and Princess Charlotte invoke popularity in monikers

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince George and Princess Charlotte have led to a rise in the popularity of their monikers, according to new data.
The two royal tots – who are the children of Prince William and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – have seemingly had a hand in altering the popularity of their monikers, after new data from the Office for National Statistics shows both George and Charlotte have risen up the ranks since being bestowed upon the royal babies.
The name George placed third on the list of most popular boys’ names, with the four-year-old royal sharing his moniker with 5,263 babies born in the UK in 2016.
Charlotte, meanwhile, proved slightly less popular on the list of girls’ names, coming in at number 12. However, thanks to two-year-old Princess Charlotte, the moniker was one of the highest climbing names of 2016, with 2,596 baby girls sharing the title.
Siobhan Freegard, founder of parenting site ChannelMum.com said: “Royal names are still ruling with George in third place for boys and Charlotte climbing 13 places in a year, following the birth of the new Princess.”
It isn’t just the royal tots who new babies take after either, as their father Prince William – who is expecting his third child with his spouse – and their uncle Prince Harry both saw their names reach the top 20 too.
For 33-year-old Harry, his moniker beat his nephew’s by just 21 tots, coming in second place with an impressive 5,284 babies having been given the name.
Prince William’s name just missed out on the top 10, however, with the 35-year-old sharing his moniker with 3,819 baby boys, and three baby girls, putting him in 11th place.

Queen Elizabeth bemoans poor weather

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth bemoaned the poor weather as she met with the Australian Governor General at Balmoral.
The 91-year-old royal is currently staying in her Scottish residence of Balmoral, and after meeting with the Australian Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove on Thursday (21.09.17), the pair laughed together as the bemoaned the “gloomy” weather.
Peter said upon meeting the monarch: “The rain has been unceasing.”
To which the Queen laughed and replied: “Yes, we were just saying that it really is rather gloomy today I’m afraid.”
The Queen’s meeting with the Australian Governor comes after she previously met with Julie Payette, the governor general of Canada, earlier this week, and offered fans of the Royal Family a rare insight into her life in Balmoral Castle with a photo taken from inside her library.
Fans were able to marvel at how the Queen lives once again after her meeting on Thursday, as a picture shared from inside another room of the lavish abode features an old model of Apple’s iPod, plugged in to a docking station, which has set tongues wagging as to what kind of playlists the royal has stored on the device.
Meanwhile, Prince Philip – who is married to the Queen – has been noticeably absent from the meetings after retiring from public appearances earlier this year, although it was previously announced he would still continue to support the monarch on certain public outings.
A statement released at the time read: “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision.
“Prince Philip will attend previously scheduled engagements between now and August, both individually and accompanying The Queen. Thereafter, The Duke will not be accepting new invitations for visits and engagements.
“Although he may still choose to attend certain public events from time to time.”

Prince William and Queen Elizabeth share ‘special closeness’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William shares a “special closeness” with his grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
The 35-year-old royal is the second in line to the throne behind his father Prince Charles, and the 91-year-old monarch is said to have been training her grandson for the day he takes over as King since he was a teenager, by going through state papers with him.
Robert Lacey, historian and consultant to the hit Netflix series ‘The Crown’, told People magazine: “There has always been a special closeness between William and the Queen, and she has taken a particular interest in him. It’s no secret that she and Charles have had a prickly relationship at times. When William became a teenager, she would have him at Windsor Castle and would open the state boxes and guide him through the papers. It was William’s constitutional education.”
The news comes after William – whose wife Catherine, Duchess of Cornwall, is expecting their third child – previously described the Queen as a “role model”.
He said last year: “[She is] the best role model I could have. [She has] more of a soft influencing, modest kind of guidance. I don’t think she believes too heavily in instruction. My grandmother takes more of a passive role in how she believes her role should be. She’s above politics.”
Meanwhile, although Prince William has been revealed in public surveys as being more popular than his 68-year-old father, it was revealed earlier this year that he won’t be “elbowing him out the way” when it comes to taking over the throne.
A source claimed: “Some people may question why William still won’t do as much as Princess Anne but he is dead set on not queering his father’s pitch.
“He sees that Charles will probably be in his seventies before he becomes King and he doesn’t want to be seen as elbowing his father out the way.”

Sarah Ferguson ‘wouldn’t change’ past

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Ferguson “wouldn’t change anything” about her past.
The Duchess of York might have made headlines when she divorced her husband Prince Andrew – with whom she has daughters Princess Beatrice, 29, and Princess Eugenie, 27 – in 1996, but she has insisted she doesn’t regret her past, and wouldn’t do anything differently if given the chance.
She said: “If I could turn back time, I still wouldn’t change anything.”
And although the pair are no longer married, the 57-year-old writer claims she is still “good friends” with her former partner Prince Andrew.
She added: “We’re good friends and communicate very well – a prerequisite for the children to feel good.”
Sarah’s reluctance to change her past comes as she admits her two daughters are “evidence of good parenting”, and is “proud” of the women they’ve become.
Speaking to Swedish journal ‘Svenskdam’ while visiting Sweden as patron of the Perfect World Foundation, she said: “I am very proud of my beautiful girls and we have a good relationship. They’re evidence of good parenting, I’d say. Being a good mother is listening to your own heart, standing firm in what you believe in and providing security.”
Meanwhile, Sarah previously praised her “incredible, humble” daughters for joining her in becoming patrons of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
She said: “The Duke and I couldn’t be more proud of this moment.
“Their actions show their commitment and dedication to their grandmother and their country.
“It’s so great to see them shining and I’m very, very proud.
“I think they’re the most humble people I know in my life and the Duke and I are lucky as parents to have these incredible, humble children.”

Duchess Catherine to make first appearance since pregnancy next month

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is set to make her first appearance since announcing her pregnancy at Buckingham Palace reception next month.
The 35-year-old royal is currently expecting her third child with her husband Prince William, and whilst she’s been forced to cancel several public appearances due to suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum – a severe form of morning sickness which she also suffered during her two previous pregnancies – it has now been confirmed she will attend the reception on October 10.
Catherine – who already has four-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte with her spouse – was named by Kensington Palace, alongside her husband, also 35, and his brother Prince Harry, as the royal hosts of the reception, which will celebrate the contribution of those working in the mental health sector across the UK.
The Duchess is known for championing the fight to end the stigma surrounding mental health, and her scheduled appearance will come just weeks after she appeared in a pre-recorded video urging young children to talk about their health.
Her video message serves as the introduction to a short animation co-produced by children and teachers in association with the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, which details different mental health scenarios and tells children how they can cope if they have problems.
Catherine says in the video: “Hello. Mental health is how we feel and think, things that can’t really be seen but that affect us every day, and talking about them can feel difficult. A charity called the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families have made this animation with children just like you. It helps us all talk about our mental health, what to say, and who to talk to when we have feelings that are too big to manage on our own. And how to listen and help if one of our friends is finding things difficult. Sometimes, it’s just a simple conversation that can make things better.”
