Rami Malek hails Freddie Mercury as a ‘revolutionary’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rami Malek thinks Freddie Mercury was a “revolutionary”.
The 37-year-old actor plays the late singer in the Bryan Singer-directed drama ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, and Rami has revealed his admiration of the Queen star, who died in 1991 from bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.
He said: “Freddie Mercury defied every obstacle, every stereotype, every convention to become the man he wanted to be. And he inspired other people to become their most authentic selves. I consider him a revolutionary.
“It’s very difficult to be gay or bisexual in the Zoroastrian culture that he came from. It’s inconceivable, in fact. To have that sense of conflict and yet to have an ownership of himself to say, ‘F**k off?’ ”
Despite starring in the much-hyped new movie, Rami actually spent years trying to establish himself in Hollywood and didn’t land his first paid role until he was 22.
But Rami feels that landing a small part on ‘Gilmore Girls’ in 2004 has proven to be a career-shaping moment.
He told The Irish Times newspaper: “People say to me, don’t ever change, but this has been a very slow burn.
“My first play was at 14. My first paid job was at 22. If my head was going to turn, it would have turned by now. I kept stuffing envelopes with my headshot and resume. I took them everywhere and if anybody looked in any way producorial, they were getting one in a delivery bag or a pizza box.”
But Rami recalled how his role on the comedy-drama series changed his outlook on life.
He said: “I was still bussing tables when I got my first cheque. And I looked at it and thought: maybe I don’t have to shine 200 pieces of cutlery every night.”

Amandla Stenberg’s sexuality won’t limit roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Amandla Stenberg says her fans have no problem believing her straight roles
The 20-year-old ‘The Hate U Give’ actress came out as gay this summer but she’s adamant her openness about her homosexuality has had no impact on how people interpret her work or the parts she is up for.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, she said: “So far, it doesn’t seem challenging at all for people to conceptualise me as a hetereo. I actually think it’s more challenging for people to conceptualise me as gay. Like, ‘You looked so straight in that movie!’ You looked super straight.”
Amandla revealed that since she has come out as a lesbian, no one has suggested that she would no longer be able to play straight roles convincingly as the Hollywood cliché would dictate.
She said: “I don’t know if anyone around me felt that way. But even if they did, they probably wouldn’t express it to me because they know that I wouldn’t want to hear it. Also, I just want to be happy in my life, and if my career doesn’t allow room for that, then it’s not the right career for me.”
The outspoken actress – who is of African American and Dutch descent – is also keen to promote racial diversity in Hollywood and revealed that she was thrilled when she nabbed the role of Rue in ‘The Hunger Games’ because she related to the novels so much as a child.
She said: “I really wanted that part because the book meant so much to me, because a character my age was described as having ‘satiny brown skin.’ And as a 12-year-old, there aren’t many depictions of black girls out there.”

Jamie Lee Curtis says women have ‘suffered forever’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lee Curtis thinks women “have suffered forever” throughout history.
The 59-year-old actress has argued that women have been forced to deal with different forms of persecution and discrimination over centuries and has explained that the new ‘Halloween’ movie – which sees three generations of women fighting back against psychopath killer Michael Myers – has explored the theme.
Jamie – who has reprised her role once again as Laurie Strode in the latest movie in the long-running franchise – explained: “Women have suffered forever. The abuse and oppression and violence, be it sexual violence, workplace manipulation, physical violence [or] oppression, we have suffered it forever. This is a movie about one woman and her daughter and her granddaughter who face it.”
‘Halloween’ made history during its weekend opening in the US, becoming the biggest debut ever for a horror film with a female lead.
But Jamie is also proud of the movie’s success for another reason.
She told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper: “It was the biggest opening for any movie with a woman over 55. And that’s the one I’ll wear the pin for because I represent that.
“I’ve tried to make that a part of my own personal platform of integrity and transparency.”
However, the veteran actress admitted she cannot fathom exactly why the film has been so well-received by fans.
Jamie – who first starred as high school babysitter Laurie in the original ‘Halloween’ movie in 1978 – said the box office returns proved that no one “knows anything” about what makes a movie successful.
She said: “It tells us that the stars aligned and you have the alchemy that we will never understand about the movie business. No one knows anything. This is the 11th ‘Halloween’ movie and it’s bigger than any of the other ‘Halloween’ movies. I don’t know why.”

Jodie Marsh devises plan to keep neighbour out of her property

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Marsh is changing the locking system on her property to stop her neighbour gaining access.
The 39-year-old TV personality is embroiled in a row with her neighbour who is refusing to return an electronic key which accesses her home, despite a change in access to their respective drives.
In an angry Twitter rant, Jodie explained that her neighbour was previously able to use the gate under certain conditions but has now blocked it off with an eight-foot fence and that when she requested he return the fob he allegedly refused without explanation.
Jodie has now revealed that she will be “reprogramming the whole system” to keep him out and give herself peace of mind.
She tweeted: “Any normal human would just hand the fobs back now that they’re not longer needed. It’s like selling your house and then refusing to part with the keys. It’s not normal behaviour and he’s acting like a psycho ex (bear in mind I barely even know the guy) … “Obviously I am having the whole system reprogrammed so his fobs don’t work anymore but I just wanted to show you the actual weirdness of him wanting to keep MY gate fobs which only allow access to MY property. It’s beyond scary and creepy!!!!! (sic)”
Jodie felt as though she had no choice but to change her locking system because she does not have a close relationship with her neighbour and couldn’t understand why he was refusing to give the fob back to her.
In other tweets, she wrote: “I am worried about his intentions – I wouldn’t give my worst enemy a fob to open my gate & this is exactly what it feels like now – I feel bullied by him & he is definitely trying to be the “big man” by refusing to hand over my fobs. He thinks he’s clever I suppose … But all this has really done is highlight to everyone what a weirdo he truly is. If he’s not a peeping tom, a stalker, a psycho or a pervert then WHY does he want MY gate fobs that give him access to MY property when he no longer has access to his property from mine?! It’s freaky … I’m glad everyone can see this for what it is and I’m glad he’s just making himself look an even bigger weirdo by refusing to hand over my gate fobs. At least I know I am not alone over here & that everyone can see what he really is. A man trying to scare & intimidate a woman (sic)”

Robin Wright ‘didn’t hesitate’ over House of Cards return

OHMYGOSSIP — Robin Wright didn’t have “any hesitation” about returning for the final series of ‘House of Cards’.
The 52-year-old actress has revealed she didn’t have any qualms about shooting the last season of the show after Kevin Spacey – who previously played former President Francis Underwood – was axed following allegations of sexual assault.
Robin – who stars in the role of Claire Underwood, Francis’ wife – explained: “There wasn’t any hesitation. We wanted to close out this show the way it was always intended for the fans and equally important was we would have put over 600 people out of a job. So it was only fair to finish with the security they expected.”
Robin has also starred on ‘House of Cards’ alongside the likes of Constance Zimmer, Greg Kinnear, Patricia Clarkson, Boris McGiver and Michael Kelly.
And Robin has admitted that their last day on the show’s set was a particularly emotional experience.
Robin told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It was bittersweet, lots of tears and nobody wanted to leave. We hung out in the Oval Office until about 3am, dancing.”
Robin had previously suggested that Kevin deserves a “second chance”.
Netflix cut its ties with Kevin after he apologised to actor Anthony Rapp for a drunken sexual advance he allegedly made towards him in 1986, though Kevin said he couldn’t remember the incident.
Asked whether the acclaimed actor should be offered a career reprieve, Robin said: “I don’t know how to comment on that, I really don’t … I believe every human being has the ability to reform. Has the ability to reform. In that sense, second chances, or whatever you are going to call it – absolutely, I believe in that. It’s called growth.”

Stacey Solomon watches films during sex

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Solomon watches films whilst she’s having sex.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist admitted to her co-star Janet Street-Porter, 71, on the talk show that she didn’t see anything wrong with having a television on in the bedroom, even when she’s getting intimate with her boyfriend Joe Swash – who she has just moved in with.
Janet scoffed: “Well you must not have a sex life then.”
To which Stacey retorted with a smile: “My sex life is wonderful thank you. And I get to watch my favourite films at the same time.”
The 29-year-old TV personality has previously revealed that she is a “lazy” lover – something Stacey discovered after watching several sex scenes in TV dramas.
The star was a viewer of BBC dramas ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Wanderlust’, both of which feature graphic lovemaking scenes, and from seeing the fictional romps on display Stacey has realised that she isn’t doing much work in the bedroom with Joe.
She said: “If TV is anything to go by I am super-lazy, honestly! There are certain things where they make me feel like I’ve done a workout just watching it.”
Stacey also gave a tantalising glimpse into her bedroom antics with Joe, 36, admitting that when he does want to get more adventurous between the sheets the positions often leave her “sweating”.
She added: “There are some things that you do and you think, ‘I don’t think I can retain this position.’ My thighs are burning and I’m sweating.”
However, it seems things are more active in between the sheets than they used to be between the pair as in February 2018 Stacey compared their lovemaking to being like “a tumbleweed”.
Describing their lovemaking, she said: “It’d be like a tumbleweed … What makes me laugh is that ‘can we survive a marriage without sex?’ Why is there so much pressure on a marriage to be all that sexual?”

Jimmy Page loans tapestries to new Tate exhibition

OHMYGOSSIP — Jimmy Page has loaned a pair of tapestries from his private collection to a new exhibition at the Tate.
The 74-year-old guitarist has loaned the huge tapestries – which display scenes from legends of King Arthur and the search for the Holy Graill – to Tate Britain for a new exhibition of the work of 19th century artist Edward Burne-Jones.
Discussing his private collection, Jimmy recalled: “I managed to purchase them from Sotheby’s when they came up for sale.
“They’re the most extraordinary pieces and never in my wildest dreams, in those days of actually acquiring them, did I ever think they would come to the Tate.”
The ‘Black Dog’ hitmaker revealed the artist has been a hugely influential figure in his life since he studied his work at college.
He told the BBC: “Burn-Jones is an artist that I had always been extremely influenced by in my youth when I was at Art College.
“I went to Art College to try and learn the techniques of oil painting but by the time I went into art college, it was all into acrylics and they said no one could teach you anything to do with glazing and these techniques, but I stayed on there. I enjoyed it.”
The rock icon appeared at Tate Britain to see the rare works of Edward installed before they go on show at the biggest retrospective of the Pre-Raphaelite artist in decades.
Tate curator Alison Smith said Jimmy was “particularly impressed by the way it was lit and the colours” after she showed him around the exhibition.
Alison – who has been working on the show for three years – added: “When people come to this show they’ll get the Burne-Jones bug.”
The Tate exhibition opens on Wednesday (24.10.18) and runs until February 24.

Rosie O’Donnell ‘will participate’ in welcoming daughter Chelsea’s first child

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosie O’Donnell “will definitely be participating” in welcoming her granddaughter into the world when her daughter Chelsea gives birth.
The 56-year-old comedian has been estranged from her 21-year-old daughter – whom she has with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter-O’Donnell, who she was married to from 2004 to 2007 – for several years, but says she’s now working on rebuilding their relationship, including making sure she’s around to “celebrate” the impending arrival of her granddaughter.
Rosie told People magazine: “We’re on good, communicative terms now, and everybody is pulling for her. [The baby is due] after the holidays. [I] will definitely be participating in the whole celebrating event.”
The former ‘The View’ co-host – who also has Parker, 23, Blake, 18, and Vivienne, 15, with Kelli, as well as five-year-old daughter Dakota with her late ex-wife Michelle Rounds – revealed last month that she was working toward having a proper relationship with Chelsea.
She said at the time: “I think with my relationship with my daughter, Chelsea, it really has [been tested] because we went through some really public troubled times and, you know, she’s doing better now and we’re both communicating with each other.
“But when somebody does something unforgivable to you and you can forgive them and they can forgive you, there’s a kind of grace that descends upon the both of you, within that.”
Rosie’s determination to be there for her daughter comes after she recently revealed she is due to marry her girlfriend Elizabeth Rooney.
The ‘Tarzan’ star and the policewoman went public with their relationship in November 2017, and although they’re now engaged, Rosie says they will wed “a long time in the future”.
She said: “This is a long time in the future. We both decided that that would be best.”

Bindi Irwin wants to marry boyfriend Chandler Powell

OHMYGOSSIP — Bindi Irwin has hinted she wants to get married to her boyfriend Chandler Powell.
The 20-year-old daughter of the late Steve Irwin has dismissed recent rumours that she is already engaged to her boyfriend of almost five years, but hinted that she may be looking to tie the knot in the future.
Speaking to People magazine, she said: “Four years, 10 months. We’re almost at our five-year mark. And it’s really exciting. We are taking things slow and we’re just enjoying life and the adventure.
“It’s interesting, as human beings we’re always so rushed with things, so you know, ‘When are you going to start dating?’ ‘When are you going to get married?’ ‘When are you going to have kids?’ When are you going to have another kid?’ Every single step. And so I think we all need to just revel in the now.
“I’m 20, I’m loving every minute of my life and I really love this guy, so I just want to take my time to enjoy the now. I promise you I will call you the second we get engaged. … It’s really exciting. And we have so many years ahead of us to enjoy the adventure of life together.”
Bindi began dating 21-year-old Chandler in 2013 after they met when the wakeboarder – who comes from Florida – was visiting Australia Zoo, which is owned by the Irwin family.
Chandler moved to Australia to be with Bindi in January this year, and the aspiring actress recently said she thinks her father – who sadly died in 2006 at the age of 44, after he was pierced in the chest by a stingray whilst filming a nature documentary – would approve of her beau.
She shared: “It’s funny how that works. I’m lucky I have found the one, the person I want to spend all my time with. Mum and Robert and I have talked about that a lot. We all think dad would have loved Chandler.”

Mariah Carey to be advisor on The Voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey is set to star as an advisor on ‘The Voice’.
The 48-year-old singer will be joining judge Jennifer Hudson on the current series of the NBC talent competition, where she will give advice and assistance to the hopeful singers ahead of the show’s Knockout Rounds.
Speaking about working with the fresh new talent, Mariah said: “The sessions with the contestants, some of them have completely blown me away. It’s like a humbling experience to be around all the raw talent.”
The ‘We Belong Together’ hitmaker admitted that she can sometimes get “caught up” in her “own world” as a singer, and said working with up and coming talent gave her the chance to step back and appreciate what other artists are “bringing to the table”.
During an appearance on the ‘Today’ show, she said: “I’m not saying that you get jaded being in the industry or doing your own music and really being caught up in your own world, but maybe a little bit. And it’s nice to see other people and what they’re doing and what they’re working with and what they’re bringing to the table in terms of their contributions as artists. So I really enjoyed it.”
Mariah’s decision to join ‘The Voice’ may come as a surprise to some fans, as after working as a judge on ‘American Idol’ five years ago, the singer said she had the “worst experience of [her] life”.
The ‘When You Believe’ singer feuded with fellow judge Nicki Minaj whilst on the show, and later said their rivalry was mostly the fault of the producers.
Asked in 2015 if she’d ever return to ‘American Idol’, Mariah said: “Hell no. Absolutely not. That was the worst experience of my life.
“I don’t think they had any intention for us to have a good experience doing that show. Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool. It should have been about the contestants instead of about some non-existant feud that turned into even more ridiculousness.
“I would never want to be involved with it again.”
‘The Voice’ airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC, and Mariah will appear on next week’s episodes.

Amy Schumer is pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Schumer is pregnant.
The 37-year-old comedian is expecting her first child with her husband Chris Fischer – whom she married earlier this year – the star has announced via social media.
Amy’s announcement started when she took to Instagram to post a picture of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – who recently announced they are expecting their first child – and put the faces of herself and her spouse on top of the royal couple.
She captioned that snap: “About to announce some exciting news on @jessicayellin insta page. Please follow her for up to the minute #newsnotnoise she breaks down what’s really going on. She agreed to post a lil noise today for me! Follow her and VOTE!! (sic)”
The news was then officially announced on the Instagram story of her friend Jessica Yellin, who posted a long list of recommended congressional candidates for the upcoming midterm elections.
The top of the post read: “I wanted to share some news from our community, maybe it’s noise but it’s happy noise. So I’m not in the business of making voting recommendations, but these are the recommendations of Amy Schumer, one of the most consistent and earliest supporters of News Not Noise. Now read all the way to the bottom, you’ll see there’s some news down there. Congratulations, Amy.”
At the bottom of the list, were the words: “I’m pregnant – Amy Schumer.”
The ‘I Feel Pretty’ actress previously faced speculation that she was expecting a baby, which prompted her to joke that she “always has a baby bump.”
Taking to her Instagram account, Amy uploaded a short video of her sipping on an alcoholic beverage and captioned it: “I always have a bump alert!”
Speaking in the clip, she said: “I am not pregnant. I am not pregnant. I’m sorry, my friend said that… it looked like I was pointing to a bump or something, but I’m not. Leesa Evans and I have created a clothing line for all sizes and shapes at a chill price point. That’s what I was trying to allude to, but thank you for thinking of my womb.”

Enrique Iglesias wants to be a ‘cool dad’

OHMYGOSSIP — Enrique Iglesias wants to be a “cool dad”.
The ‘Hero’ singer welcomed twins Nicholas and Lucy into the world with his longterm partner Anna Kournikova – whom he was been with for 17 years – 10 months ago, and has said that whilst he’s doing things to make sure he’s “more responsible” now that he’s a dad, he still wants his kids to think he’s “easy going”.
Speaking during an appearance on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he said: “It’s one of the best feelings in the world. [I’m more responsible]. I drive slower. I think about stupid things a few more times before doing them.
“I hope to be a cool, easy-going dad.”
The news comes after 43-year-old Enrique previously gushed over his twins during a concert in Budapest, just 12 weeks after his tots were born.
He said: “I became a father 12 weeks ago and I can absolutely tell you two things: I love my babies! I love them very much. Actually three things [I love]: I love my girl and I super f***ing love you guys for being here tonight. This is for your loyalty.”
And his mother Isabel Preysler says Enrique is “extraordinarily happy” with life as a father to his “perfect” twins.
Isabel said: “Enrique is extraordinarily happy. The children are perfect, beautiful and growing phenomenally well.”
Whilst his sister Tamara added: “Lucy looks more like Anna, she is blonde and has blue eyes, and Nico looks more like Enrique.”
Enrique has kept his personal life – including his relationship with Anna – out of the spotlight for many years and he previously admitted he doesn’t think “perfect relationships” exist as there can be “bad times” between every couple.
He shared: “You go through your good times, you go through your bad times. It’s a tough thing for me to believe there’s such a thing as the perfect relationship. I don’t think that exists …
“Firstly, she’s the coolest girl in the world. And she understands who I am, to the point where she’s willing to sacrifice her personal time with me and let me do my music. It’s a huge sacrifice and I respect that tremendously.”

As of the time of writing, Alfie’s girlfriend is yet to post on her own Instagram account with news of the tot’s arrival.
The couple have also chosen to keep their daughter’s name a secret for now.
Neither Alfie nor Allie had announced the DJ’s pregnancy before the birth.
The news of Alfie’s daughter comes after his sister Lily recently opened up about his embarrassing meeting with the late Princess Diana in her new memoir, ‘My Thoughts Exactly’.
Lily explained the meeting came at the 1991 premiere of ‘Hear My Song’, a movie which was produced by their mother Alison Owen, where Lily and Alfie were tasked with handing Diana gifts.
She wrote: “Diana the Princess of Wales came to the premiere. I was a flower girl and gave her a posy, Alfie had a box of handkerchiefs to give her but somehow he got his k**b caught in his trouser zip moments before meeting her.”
While Lily expertly handed off the flowers and curtsies, Diana showed concern for Alfie, who was crying from the pain.
Lily added in her book: “‘Are you ok?’ she asked him ‘No,’ he replied. ‘I’ve got my willy caught in my zip.'”

The 25-year-old singer has had a tough few months after her former boyfriend Mac Miller passed away in September, and she broke off her engagement to new beau Pete Davidson earlier this month.
And the star has now said she thinks that her “heart needs” to head out on the road in support of her latest album ‘Sweetener’ – which features a track named ‘Pete Davidson’ – in order to help her push past the tragedies she has suffered.
When one fan asked on Twitter: “any news about sweetener tour? if not pls don’t stress about it ! we can wait / we want you to be actually ready to go on tour (sic)”

Rosie O’Donnell confirms engagement

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosie O’Donnell and Elizabeth Rooney are engaged.
The former ‘The View’ co-host has confirmed she and the policewoman – who went public with their relationship in November 2017 – are to marry, but admitted they will wed “a long time in the future”.
She told PEOPLE: “This is a long time in the future. We both decided that that would be best.”
The 56-year-old comedian and Elizabeth, 33, have a 23-year age gap, which leads to some fans mistaking the Army veteran for Rosie’s 20-year-old daughter Chelsea when they are out and about.
She added: “A lot of people say, ‘Oh my god, Chelsea looks so great.’ I’m like, ‘That’s not Chelsea.’ That’s my soon-to-be spouse.
“It’s a little tricky. In the airport people say, ‘Rosie, can I have a picture of you and your daughter?’ She doesn’t seem to think it’s an issue at all. Nobody ever does, but I do sometimes.”
Rosie described Elizabeth as a “wonderful woman” and admits she “doesn’t care” about the couple’s age gap.
She said: “I keep telling her I’m too old for her. But she doesn’t seem to care.
“She lives in Boston now and I live here in New York. It’s been a long-distance thing. It’s been great. I think she’s a wonderful woman.
“She’s very much an equal, she’s very much her own person and loves what she does. She’s a pretty unbelievable young woman.”
Rosie was previously married to Michelle Rounds from 2012 to 2015, but she took her own life in September 2017 aged 46.
The former couple have five-year-old daughter Dakota, and Rosie also has four other kids, Parker, 23, Chelsea, 21, Blake, 18, and Vivienne, 15, with her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter-O’Donnell, who she was married to from 2004 to 2007.
Rosie has been estranged from Chelsea, but admitted in September she is rebuilding their relationship.
She said: “I think with my relationship with my daughter, Chelsea, it really has [been tested] because we went through some really public troubled times and, you know, she’s doing better now and we’re both communicating with each other.

Ronan Keating in talks for comedy movie roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronan Keating is to return to acting after Boyzone’s farewell tour.
The ‘No Matter What’ hitmaker has revealed he has been offered a number of big screen roles in comedies, and as soon as he and his bandmates – Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham – wrap their ‘Thank You & Goodnight’ tour in February, he’ll be focusing his time on prepping himself for his new gigs.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “There’s a couple of films I’ve been asked to do that are on the table but finding the time to do them is the hard part.
“It’s going to be very different – they’re comedy films. You know I’m quite funny, me.
“Comedy’s always something I’d love to do. It would be a lot of fun.
“I grew up watching comedy, I love comedy.”
The 41-year-old star – who has 17-month-old Cooper with wife Storm and Jack, 20, Missy, 17, and Ali, 13, from his marriage to Yvonne Connolly – previously starred in the comedy musical ‘Goddess’ in 2013, and his last movie was 2017’s World War II drama ‘Another Mother’s Son’.
Ronan admits it will be “emotional” bidding farewell to his Irish boyband years, but says it probably won’t hit him until they are nearing the end of their tour.
He said: “I’m not sad yet, it’s too early.
“We’ve got a whole year ahead of us with an album release, promotion, tour, so it’s going to be another 12 months.
“But I’m sure next summer when we get to the pointy end it will be emotional.”
Meanwhile, Ronan recently confessed he he’s often turned up to his early morning radio show worse for wear.
The ‘Life Is a Rollercoaster’ hitmaker presents the UK Magic Radio Breakfast show with Harriet Scott weekdays from 6am, and has admitted he’s copied TV show ‘This Morning’ hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on occasions, in arriving to work still hungover, most recently after this year’s GQ Men of the Year Awards.
He said: “It’s horrible.
“A couple of times now, I’ve been out and gone straight in. The last time was the GQ Awards – I was at a house party until 4.30am and I pushed right through. It wasn’t my best show.”
