Nathan Morris joins Sleeping Beauty panto

OHMYGOSSIP — Nathan Morris has joined the cast of panto ‘Sleeping Beauty’ after his ‘Hollyoaks’ was confirmed last night (30.08.18).
The actor bowed out of the fictional Chester village as Milo Entwistle after his alter-ego survived a car landing on him, but the Cunninghams found out he was responsible for the deaths of Helen (Kathryn George) and Gordon Cunningham (Bernard Latham) back in 2004.
But Nathan has wasted no time in finding new work, after he was cast in Rochdale-based panto ‘Sleeping Beauty’ as Prince Percy, alongside The Chase’s Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Benidorm’s Hannah Hobley and comic Ben Sherlock.
A tweet on the AB Productions Twitter account read: “We’re delighted to announce that Hollyoaks favourite NATHAN MORRIS @NathanMorris_1 is joining the cast of Sleeping Beauty @GFTheatre this Christmas as our perfect Prince Percy! (sic)”
Nathan took to his Twitter account last night to wish his “misunderstood little nutter” alter-ego a fond farewell, and he thanked fans for their support.
He tweeted: “See ya later #MysteriousMilo, you misunderstood little nutter (sic)”
Last month, Nathan joked he is planning to get a ‘Hollyoaks’ tattoo, like Milo, who has an inking on his back.
He quipped: “I have a small dragon tattoo on my arm, I do want more, but I can never decide on what to have.
“Maybe I’ll get a big H for ‘Hollyoaks’ on my back. I’ll be branded for life then.
“Milo’s tattoo takes around an hour to put on.”
Nathan returned to ‘Oaks’ in dramatic scenes last month, in which Milo confronted Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) on a beach and demanded she leave Dirk Savage (David Kennedy).
The explosive scenes called for Nathan to go into the freezing cold sea numerous times – but he couldn’t hear what the director was saying from the ocean.
He added: “It was freezing and I was so far out, I couldn’t really hear what the director and cameraman were shouting at me.
“I probably just look a bit confused!”

Mikey North wants Rita Sullivan Corrie affair

OHMYGOSSIP — Mikey North has hinted his ‘Coronation Street’ character will have an affair with Rita Sullivan.
The 31-year-old actor would love to see his alter-ego Gary Windass get up close and personal with Barbara Knox’s character, because he is so fond of the 84-year-old actress.
He said: “I think my dream would be an affair with Rita. I love Barbara to pieces, so hopefully that might materialise. She’s lovely.”
Mikey recently took a two-month break from the cobbles after Gary played a part in bumping off evil serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre), and the actor has admitted it wasn’t his choice to depart Weatherfield for so long.
He said: “It wasn’t a chosen break, it’s just the way it goes sometimes. It was a big storyline when we got rid of Pat Phelan and Gary just went quiet for a little bit.
“That storyline was a real blessing, I enjoyed doing that. It was a privilege to be involved in getting rid of the biggest baddie the show’s ever had.”
While Mikey is hard at it on the cobbles when he is awake, he is also busy pounding the pavements when he is asleep.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he added: “I’m a horrendous sleep walker. I leave the house. I’ve been known to try to let myself in next door in my pants. I’ve woken up on the street with my duvet.
“If you like on my street watch out. I’m coming for you next!”
Mikey previously opened up about his sleep walking, saying: “At some point, someone is going to come home from a night out and see Gary Windass out with his Y-fronts on.”

Guillermo del Toro makes gender equality plea

OHMYGOSSIP — Guillermo del Toro has called for greater gender equality at the Venice Film Festival.
The acclaimed filmmaker is currently serving as the Jury President at the festival, and Guillermo has spoken passionately about the need for gender equality at Veince, which has come under fire this year for the lack of female-directed movies.
He explained: “I think the goal has to be 50-50 by 2020. If it’s 50-50 by 2019, that’s even better.”
The issue has become a hot topic at the festival after it was revealed that just one of the 21 competition titles in Venice is directed by a woman.
The festival is also facing pressure to follow the leads of the Cannes, Locarno and Sarajevo festivals, which have all signed a pledge on gender parity.
Del Toro revealed earlier this year that he had a film turned down because it was too “female-centric”.
The award-winning director said he once tried to persuade a studio to take on a project with a predominately female cast, but his efforts were shut down almost immediately.
He shared: “The message that is really strong for studios, and one that they understand, is box office.
“So with ‘Black Panther’, ‘Get Out’, ‘Wonder Woman’ – these are movies for female audiences, African American audiences, and for many years that was a very difficult discussion to have with studios.
“One project I had at a major studio no longer than three years ago was turned down because it was female-centric.
“I went to bat for it and literally could not move them one inch. It was myopic. These successes show the studios that fortune favours the bold.
“People are interested in seeing themselves in a way they haven’t seen themselves.”

Idris Elba says directorial debut will influence his acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba says directing his first movie has caused him to reconsider his approach to acting.
The London-born star has helmed the new crime drama ‘Yardie’, and Idris has admitted that the experience has led him to look at acting in a new light.
He shared: “I’ve always been sympathetic when directors have actors who are difficult to work with.
“‘Guys, I’ve got a million things to deal with, I don’t need your issues right now.’ Actors are a really important part of the film engine but after working with actors that are super-dedicated – dedicated to the point where you couldn’t ask any more and young and eager to impress and who just went for it – it made me look at my own dedication.
“How much time am I giving the director to work to rehearse? How many times am I prepared to do it again differently if they ask me? Do I know my lines? I’ve always been an actor that wants to contribute to a happy crew. Now I’m going to work even harder to get there.”
‘Yardie’ is set in east London in the 1980s, and Idris has incorporated some of his own experiences of living in the city during that period into the movie.
He told the Irish Times newspaper: “This story was definitely tapping into my memory banks.
“I can tell you about the type of wallpaper in the pubs or that might have been in D’s house.
“It’s really interesting that the feedback from the beginning has been about the era. There’s a generation of kids that wouldn’t have a clue what was going on in London back then.
“I wanted that younger audience to see it and think, ‘Wow, that’s when my mum and dad were growing up.'”

Chris Hemsworth to star in action movie Dhaka

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth is reportedly set to star in a new action movie directed by Chris Evans’ stunt double.
The Australian star – who is best-known for his role as Thor in the Marvel movies – has been cast in ‘Dhaka’, which will mark the directorial debut of Sam Hargrave, a stunt coordinator who has previously worked with the ‘Captain America’ actor.
The project is being directed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who worked with Chris and Sam when they helmed ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and two ‘Captain America’ films.
‘Dhaka’ has been written by the Russo brothers and tells the story of a world-weary mercenary who is hired to rescue the son of a businessman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, Chris previously revealed he relished the experience of working with director Taika Waititi on ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ in 2017.
The 35-year-old actor hailed the director’s willingness to take risks with the most recent instalment in the money-spinning Marvel franchise.
He said: “Taika Waititi, the director that came in, is a genius and has such a left-of-centre, wildly odd sense of humour.
“He said: ‘I don’t ever want to hear ‘Loki’ and ‘this madness’ again.’ And I said: ‘No, I’m done. I’ve said that a thousand times.’ And so anytime something felt familiar, we’d go the other way, throw it out of the window and start again.
“We may have pushed it too far; I don’t know. But it was a hell of a lot of fun and it’s going to be vastly different and unique to what we’ve done before.”

Sir Michael Caine shelved plans to retire because he still loves acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Michael Caine performed a U-turn on his plans to retire because he loves acting too much.
The 85-year-old icon previously claimed he wanted to retire at the age of 45, but Michael has been unable to walk away from the movie business as he still loves his job.
He shared: “What happened is I enjoy it so much that I just can’t stop. Things go up and down and you do what comes along. You have to make a living.
“What I noticed looking back was there’d always be three or four flops and then just as it was all going in the toilet, there’d be a hit, a massive hit. So I feel very lucky.”
Michael grew up in a working-class neighbourhood in South London and despite the crime that surrounded him during his childhood, he’s always been a “gentle soul”.
Looking back on his upbringing, Michael explained to the Guardian newspaper: “I was a gentle soul, but some of my friends went out and smashed people up.
“I only knew one murderer. I based my character in ‘Get Carter’ on him: the way he moved, everything. He’d killed four people, never been caught.
“After ‘Get Carter’ came out, he said: ‘Biggest load of crap I’ve seen in my life.’ I asked him why. He said: ‘You’re not f***ing married. We had responsibilities. That’s why we did what we did. Why are you doing it? Where’s your responsibilities?’
“Isn’t that amazing? I didn’t argue with him: I knew he’d killed four people.”

Lenny Kravitz: Low suits Michael Jackson

OHMYGOSSIP — Lenny Kravitz has hinted he would have liked to have given Michael Jackson his song ‘Low’ if he were still alive.
The ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ hitmaker released the track with a posthumous vocal appearance by the late King of Pop – who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 – from the studio sessions they had together before his death, and when he wrote it he kept hearing the ‘Thriller’ singer’s voice.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he recalled: “I wrote and produced the song ‘(I Can’t Make It) Another Day’ for him that came out on his album ‘Michael’, that was released after he died.
“When I was writing ‘Low’, I felt it was a song that would really suit Michael — when I was recording it I just kept hearing his voice.
“I had these other tracks that we’d done and so I put his vocal on to ‘Low’ from those tracks. It was just a really nice exclamation after I sing the verse, on the outro, he just kept backing me.”
The 60-year-old star says that when he released the track from his album ‘Raise Vibrations’ – which is out now – some people didn’t realise it was actually Michael and assumed he was aiming to sound like his friend.
He said: “It’s really nice and not over the top. A lot of people didn’t realise it was him, and thought I was trying to sound like Michael there. But it really is him.”
The ‘Fly Away’ singer often thinks about what the ‘Billie Jean’ singer would be doing now musically if he were still alive, because he was such a “creative spirit”.
Remembering the music icon in the week that he would have turned 60, Lenny said: “If Michael was still here I’d love to hear what he’d be doing now. To work with, he was the most professional, hardworking artist.
“A perfectionist and always looking for inspiration and creativity. A truly creative spirit. And he was funny. He laughed a lot.”

Ariana Grande gets hour-long BBC special

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande has landed an hour-long ‘Ariana Grande at the BBC’ special.
The ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ singer will join host Davina McCall for the entertainment programme, which will air later this year, and will see the pop star perform songs from her latest LP ‘Sweetener’ with the accompaniment of a female orchestra.
Former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ presenter Davina is honoured to have landed the gig, she said: “Since I’ve been asked to do this show… I have been worried that someone is going to call up and tell me they’ve made a mistake and chosen the wrong presenter, because this seems just too good to be true.
“Ariana Grande is such an incredible talent. She’s very funny and incredibly kind and has achieved so much already in her career. I’m really excited about talking to her and, of course, hearing some of her amazing music.”
Ariana follows in the footsteps of the likes of Adele, Michael Buble, Harry Styles, Sam Smith and U2 in being the subject of the entertainment special.
It will mark the first time the 25-year-old star has appeared on BBC One since the One Love Manchester benefit gig aired last year.
The concert – which also featured performances from the likes of Justin Bieber, Liam Gallagher and Little Mix – was put on to pay tribute to the 22 people who lost their lives and 116 who were left badly injured during the suicide bombing that occurred outside Manchester Arena after Ariana’s concert in May 2017.
The ‘God is a Woman’ hitmaker recently broke down in tears while discussing the terrorist attack in an interview.
In the emotional radio chat, she said: “Obviously [if you see it] on the news it affects you but not in the same way. You feel bad, you tweet it, you post a picture, you send your condolences, you say something and move on. But then Christmas comes and you’re thinking about it. It’s like… f**k, I’m so sorry.” Ariana then broke down in tears before continuing.
She said: “It’s like people are permanently affected by this shit and it’s just like, perspective. It changes everything, changes your life quite a bit. You want to be more present and follow happy impulses and figure it out later and stay in the moment.”
Ariana will film ‘Ariana Grande at the BBC’ in London on September 7.

The 50-year-old star celebrated her latest milestone in June, and hit out at people who try to hide their age.
She said: “I don’t like it when people lie about their age. I think if you’re 50 you just ruddy say it. I am 50.”

Robbie Williams enjoys being X Factor judge more than singing

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams is enjoying being an ‘X Factor’ judge more than anything else he’s ever done in showbusiness.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker believes he has been doing the “wrong job” for the last 25 years of his career, during which he has been a solo singer and in boy band Take That, because he’s having the “best time” on the talent show.
He said: “The amazing thing is, since I started to do the show I can’t believe I haven’t done it before. I’m having the best time in showbusiness that I’ve ever had full stop.
“I’ve been doing the wrong job for 25 years!”
Robbie admitted he was “instantly” up for appearing on the programme as a panellist when his wife Ayda Field was offered a judging role.
He said: “Ayda got a call from Nigel, the producer of the show, and he said, ‘Do you think Rob will do it if you do it, too?’
“Instantly, I was like, ‘That makes complete sense, I’m totally in.”
Robbie admitted the “success” of the show is partly down to him because he has mentored some of the most fruitful acts, such as One Direction and Olly Murs, as well as the likes of fan favourite Honey G.
He joked: “I’m not saying it’s totally down to me, the success of ‘X Factor’ and the British music industry … but it’s close.”
Louis Walsh has not returned as a judge for the current series, and show boss Simon Cowell admitted it was a “radical change” giving the Irish music mogul the boot.
When asked in a joint interview on ‘Lorraine’ if he is missing Walsh, Simon said: “Sometimes you’ve got to make a change, and a radical change.
“The best panel is one you’d like to have dinner with. And that’s where we ended up.”

Coleen Nolan wants to ‘go back in time’ to avoid Kim Woodburn spat

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan wishes she could “go back in time” to avoid her “upsetting and unpleasant” reunion with Kim Woodburn.
The pair clashed live on ‘Loose Women’ this week when the ‘How Clean is Your House?’ presenter appeared on the show for what fans thought was going to see them make-up after they fell out following their 2017 ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ appearance.
But Kim, 76, ended up calling Coleen “lying trash” and a “piece of filth” before storming off the set after a heated row – and the 53-year-old TV presenter has admitted she didn’t want to take part in the reunion in the first place.
Coleen said: “Anyone that knows me knows I’m not a bully.
“That would be the most hurtful thing people could call me.
“I didn’t want to do the reunion. It was the producers who said she wanted to make peace. I agreed because I was happy to draw a line under past differences.
“From the moment she arrived, it was clear Kim didn’t want to make up. Now I wish I could go back in time and not do it. It was ugly, upsetting and unpleasant for everyone.”
Kim admitted afterwards she was particularly upset about Coleen and her sister Linda Nolan’s antics on the show, including the singer “mocking” her while she was talking about her “very sad” and “brutal” childhood.
But Coleen insists she didn’t know what Kim was saying, and was merely commenting about her “ranting”.
She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I hadn’t heard what she was saying. I was commenting on how she was ranting, not what she was saying about her childhood.
“But it’s also unrelated to the way she abused me for eight minutes and then tells the world I attacked her.”
Coleen insists she will not appear alongside Kim on the show ever again, but “wishes [her] well”.
Following the fracas, Kim called for Coleen and Linda to be fired from ‘Loose Women’, and more than 5,700 people have signed a petition backing Coleen’s sacking.
Kim said afterwards: “I was ambushed, it was disgusting. It was like a circus and I was there for some cruel entertainment. I want Coleen and her sister fired.
“They could have stopped that show. The one who had the ear mic could have stopped it. But they did nothing to curb it.
“I was shown cruelty again by that woman. I’m embarrassed once again. And I’ve cried on TV once again.
“I do go at people if they go for me. I hope I never live to see the day when a human being in her 50s and her sister could mock a lady sobbing on TV.
“They should not be on that show. And I will do all I can to get them off it.”
What’s more, Ofcom received more than 3,000 complaints following the pair’s on-air spat.

Katherine Jenkins reinterprets Stormzy song

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Jenkins has “reinterpreted” grime star Stormzy’s ‘Blinded By Your Grace’ with a gospel choir.
The Welsh mezzo-soprano has put together her own rendition of both Part 1 and Part II – which featured MNEK – of the two-part record for her new LP ‘Guiding Light’ featuring the Adoplhus Choir, and has explained that she chose the song for its “spiritual” qualities as it “really fitted” her album.
On why she picked the tracks by the ‘Big For Your Boots’ rapper to merge together, she explained: “The idea of the album was doing something that was reflective and inspirational and spiritual and wanted to be inclusive of everybody and I was looking at songs that fitted into that category.
“They didn’t have to be obviously religious but when you hear the lyrics you can interpret them in your own way no matter where you’re from and what you believe in.
“When I was looking for songs like that, there were the obvious things, but I was looking for more modern songs.
“When I listen to ‘Blinded By Your Grace Part I’ and Part II I was thinking, ‘how can I interpret this?’
“You listen to the lyrics and you think about them in a spiritual way they are really beautiful, so I joined up part one and part two and we have a gospel choir, we have the Adoplhus Choir who are a really talented group of young singers.
“I wanted to make something really heartfelt of it. And I guess it’s a take on what I think is already a great song, because it really fitted the idea of the album.”
As well as covers, Katherine has also written a track dedicated to her four-month-old old son – her second child with husband Andrew Levitas, with whom she already has two-year-old daughter Aaliyah – called ‘Xander’s Song’.
Katherine previously revealed she had been bringing Xander to the studio with her.
She said: “It’s always a thrill to be working on new music, especially with a team I know and love so well and have been with working since the very start of my career.
“It’s also exciting to be entering the studio at such a special time in my life, with so much love in my heart for our new addition Xander who will be coming along to inspire me!”
As well as releasing ‘Guiding Light’ on November 30, Katherine re-signed with Decca Records in June, and is set to release her first record with the label in 14 years, ‘Premiere’, which follows her 2016 LP ‘Celebration’.
The star will also embark on a UK tour next April.
