OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck “looks better and seems healthier” after two weeks in rehab.
The 46-year-old actor checked himself into a treatment centre for alcohol addiction on August 22 – after having previously spent time in a facility in 2001 and 2017 – and sources who spotted the star around Malibu over the weekend have said he’s looking a lot better thanks to his new treatment program.
An insider told People magazine: “On Saturday, Ben got a morning haircut at the Malibu Wave Salon, and also spent time at his Pacific Palisades house before returning to rehab.
“He had another workout session with a trainer. He has had a workout at home every day this week. He looks much better and seems healthier.”
A second source added the ‘Justice League’ actor is “doing well”, and attends daily meetings and workouts outside of his time at the live-in rehabilitation centre where he’s staying.
They added: “He knows he needs to stay focused and listen to those around him.”
The news of Ben’s health comes after sources revealed he’s still been visiting his home to work out, despite living at the centre where he’s receiving treatment.
An insider said: “Ben is working out at his house. He goes home to his gym to work out with his trainers.
“Since last week, he’s been driven from the clinic every day from rehab to the house to work out. For a few hours a day. He’s always accompanied by his coach and therapist.”
Ben entered rehab after his ex-wife Jennifer Garner – with whom he has children Violet, 12, Seraphina, nine, and Samuel, six – staged an intervention, and she’s said to be thrilled with his decision to give treatment a third try.
A source revealed: “He told Jen and was not resistant. He asked her to take him and she wanted to be there for him.
“She wants him to be clean and healthy and will help him get there if he’s committed. She is glad he is in a safe place and getting the help he needs.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Newton-John is currently battling cancer for the third time – after keeping her second fight with the disease a secret.
The 69-year-old singer and actress was revealed she was fighting breast cancer in May last year, and whilst it was believed the latest struggle was her second time facing the disease after a battle 26 years ago, she has now revealed she dealt with the illness in secret in 2013.
Olivia revealed she was involved in a minor car accident five years ago which led to the discovery of a lump on her back, and whilst she originally thought it was caused by the strain of her seatbelt during the collision, subsequent scans revealed the lump was actually the return of breast cancer.
Speaking about keeping the diagnoses under wraps, she said: “I thought, ‘It’s my life’ and I just decided to keep it to myself.”
The ‘Grease’ star has undergone radiation therapy for the new tumour at the base of her spine, and says she’s also being aided by medical marijuana that her husband of 10 years, John Easterling, grows at the couple’s ranch in Santa Barbara, California.
She said: “In California, it’s legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes … I’m very lucky that I live in a state where it’s legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man.”
Despite her ongoing medical battle, Olivia won’t be consumed by negativity, as she knows she’s “a very privileged person”.
The ‘Physical’ hitmaker added: “There are other people out there doing much, much worse than me. I’m a very privileged person, and I’m very aware of that. I live in this beautiful place. I have a wonderful husband. I have all the animals that I adore. I have an incredible career. I have nothing, really, to complain about.”
And she’s confident she’ll pull through and beat the disease once and for all.
Speaking to Australia’s ‘Sunday Night’, she said: “I believe I will win over it, and that’s my goal.”

OHMYGOSSIP — John Mayer has shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Mac Miller, whom he dubbed as a “sensational” musician.
The ‘Donald Trump’ rapper tragically passed away at the age of 26 of Friday (07.09.18) after suffering an apparent overdose, and fellow musician John Mayer has taken to Instagram to praise the star’s musical talent.
Posting a professional picture of Mac on social media, John wrote: “This was going to be Mac Miller’s year. He made a quantum leap in his music. That’s incredibly hard to do, to evolve and get better and more focused while your career is already underway. You don’t get there without a lot of work, and Mac had put the work in. I didn’t expect to play on his album the day he played some songs for me at his house, but when I heard ‘Small Worlds,’ I gave it a short, chirpy little ‘yup,’ which is the highest praise I can give a track.
“I grabbed the nearest guitar in the room and within a couple of hours we had finished a tune that made me so incredibly happy to have a part in, not to mention we established a nice little friendship. He was so funny I just kind of stopped typing ‘LOL’ back in our texts. Mac was, to me, on permanent LOL status. I gave him whatever guidance I thought I had the right to, having been through the press ringer in the past and wanting him to understand that none of that noise could ever really take a bite out of the music he was about to put out.
“I thought that was so endearing, especially seeing as he would go on to play one of the best sets I’d seen in a very long time. Mac put in the work. He made his best album and formed the band that was weeks away from becoming a breakout live sensation. Believe me when I say that. I send my love and support to everyone who knew him better, because what relative little I did, I just adored.”
John, 40, is just one of the many starts to reach out following the news of Mac’s passing, including his former girlfriend Ariana Grande – whom he dated for two years until earlier this year when they split – who posted a simple black and white photo of Mac without a caption.
Both Sir Elton John and fellow rapper G-Eazy have paid tribute to the star at their concerts this weekend.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona wanted her drug habit to kill her.
The 37-year-old singer reached her lowest point in 2009, when her husband Mark Croft had cheated on her and she lost a £250,000 advertising contract after video footage emerged of her snorting cocaine and she admitted she “didn’t want to be here anymore”.
She said: “I felt really suicidal when I was married to my second husband, Mark.
“I was snorting cocaine like it was going out of fashion. I felt so isolated. I didn’t want to be here anymore. I almost gave in.”
Kerry – who has Molly, 17, and Lily-Sue, 15, with first husband Brian McFadden, Heidi, 11, and Max, 10, with Mark, and four-year-old Dylan-Jorge with third spouse George Kay – admitted she took so many drugs, she’d have seizures and be left “frothing at the mouth”.
She added to The Sun newspaper: “I took so much coke with Mark and I had hoped he’d try to stop me, and go, ‘I love you too much to see you do this’, but he never did.’
“I would take so much that I’d have a fit and start frothing at the mouth and I really hoped I wouldn’t wake up. But I always did. I had a guardian angel, thank God!”
The ‘Whole Again’ singer’s turning point came when she went on a two-week bootcamp and realised things had to change, telling Mark she wanted a divorce days after she returned home.
She recalled: “It was the first time I was away from Mark for two solid weeks, running, eating healthily. I came off my bipolar medication.
“I never touched cocaine ever again. That boot camp saved my life.
“I moved south and have never looked back. It felt like I was coming out of a coma, I could see so clearly.”
Kerry suffers from bipolar disorder and still gets overwhelmed by feelings of depression but will always “fight” to get back on track and called for others to do the same.
She said: “Even now I have suicidal thoughts and I feel like I can’t do this anymore, but don’t be ashamed or embarrassed to speak up, there is so much to live for.
“Look where I am – I was on the verge of suicide, I lost everything, money friends, family. I’m still fighting.
“Don’t give up on yourself. If I can turn it around, then you can, let’s do it together.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky Pattison has changed her mind on her wedding venue.
The former ‘Geordie Shore’ star and her partner John Noble rescheduled their nuptials until next year so she could appear on the Australian version of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ back in March, but she has admitted things aren’t going to according to plan and they’ve decided to start from scratch.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: “It’s very overwhelming. I seriously underestimated the process. Myself and John decided against the venue that we originally booked, so we’re back to the drawing board. But we do have a secret weapon now – I’ve found a wedding planner. When I send her pictures of flowers at 2am, she actually replies! So I’m feeling really positive now. We want to get married next year, we just don’t know where or when precisely.”
Although the 30-year-old reality TV beauty blamed her work schedule for their decision to push back their big day, she has admitted the fact she hadn’t been hitting the gym played a major role in things as well because she didn’t feel great.
She explained: “When John has to answer questions from his mum about why our wedding’s been postponed, it’s very hard. But we have tried to rise above it. I love him, he loves me and we know postponing it was right for us. We had a hard summer and I wasn’t as dedicated to my training and exercise as I wanted to be. If we’d have gone ahead with it as planned, the wedding would have got cancelled, because I was in no state to get married this year.”
As well as a wedding on the way, Vicky could have a baby soon as she and John are “open” to starting a family and have been “practising lots”.
She said recently: “It’s looking like it could be something that’s happening, we are more open to it. We’re doing lots of practising …”

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Sheen has wished his ex-wife Denise Richards “nothing but happiness” after she got married to her partner Aaron Phypers over the weekend.
The 53-year-old actor – who has daughters Sam, 14, and Lola,13, with the blonde beauty – didn’t watch his former flame tie the knot with the ‘Leap star in Malibu on Saturday (08.09.18), but he is over the moon for them.
A spokesperson told ‘Entertainment Tonight’ confirmed that the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star didn’t attend the wedding but “he wishes them nothing but happiness!”
Charlie and Denise were married for four years until they went their separate ways in 2006 but they’re adamant they’re a “family” and still hang out together.
Earlier this year, the 47-year-old actress uploaded a photograph of her, Charlie, Sam and Lola eating dinner together and she wrote: “We’re still a family.”
And he’s still supportive of her career as he had nothing but praise when he was questioned about her joining the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ last month.
He said at the time: “I don’t really watch that show. No, but I know it’s a really popular and good for her. I’m sure it’s going to be a ball, you know?”
Meanwhile, Denise’s wedding came as somewhat of a shock to fans as she and Aaron had only announced their engagement two days before they got hitched.
A source close to Denise and Aaron – who was previously married to Nicollette Sheridan – said: “Denise and Aaron just want a small group of people to be at the wedding, really just their inner circle. They’ve both done this before and this time just want to exchange vows in front of the people who are most important.”
Denise wore a short dress with a long train and her three daughters – Sam, Lola and Eloise, seven – were bridesmaids at the small ceremony.

OHMYGOSSIP — Nikki Bella thinks her future will be full of “sparkle and shine” following her split from John Cena.
The 34-year-old professional wrestler called off her engagement to John Cena earlier this year – just weeks before they were scheduled to get married – following six years together but, although it’s been a tough time for her, she’s hopeful that her career will accelerate in 2019.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she said: “I’m really enjoying being an entrepreneur [and] I’m very excited for my comeback at WWE.
“I just have this goal in my head of what I want to conquer as an independent woman and I’m going to get there. And I can’t wait to be on the cover of Forbes, so look out!”
And the Nikki thinks it’s important she learns how to love herself before she dates again.
She explained: “It was quite a journey to really love myself. But I think when you go through so much, I don’t want to say hate but criticism, it makes you do two things: You can even go in a way to please other people or you can take a good look at yourself and go, ‘This is who I am. This is how I was made and I’m going to love it. And I’m just going to shine that confidence through.’ You’re better in a relationship when you fully have that self-love and love yourself and know who you are because then you’re just so confident in that relationship.”
Nikki’s reality TV show ‘Total Bellas’, which is based on her life and that of her twin sister Brie Bella – has just been renewed for another series and she has revealed the forthcoming instalment will focus on her “new journey, just with my family” rather than her relationship.
She said: “It’s been, as we all know, a hard few months.
“[But] the fans have been so supportive and the fact that we got picked up for a new season and people want to continue to watch Brie and I’s journey, it just means so much to us.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Mecklenburgh has urged Roxanne Pallett to “get help”.
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star admitted she wasn’t convinced by the ex-‘Emmerdale’ actress’ apologies when she left the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house after falsely accusing Lucy’s boyfriend Ryan Thomas of punching her but now wants to move on from the incident.
She said: “I have my reservations about whether her apologies were genuine but she’s said what she needed to say and it can’t have been easy for her to face the music like that.
“As long as she now gets the help she needs then I think it’s time we all draw a line under it. The most important thing for me is that she never does this to anyone else.”
Days after leaving the ‘CBB’ house, Roxanne sat down for a face-to-face interview on ‘Jeremy Vine’, in which she said sorry and admitted she had “got it wrong” with her accusation, and she also pre-recorded a chat with ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ host Emma Willis in which she was questioned about the incident, but Lucy felt like both segments were a “performance”.
She added in an interview with the new issue of OK! magazine: “To me, her interviews with Emma and Jeremy seemed like a performance and something she knew she needed to do. As long as she goes away and works on her problems I think she should be left alone and I think Ryan would agree.”
Last week, Ryan was quarantined from the rest of his housemates after falling ill and his girlfriend thinks it was due to the stress of the situation.
She said: “I think he got ill because the stress made him run down, so it was really sad to see. I hate seeing him not being the Ryan I know and love, it just show’s how much it all affected him.
“There’s no one in the world who could have handled it as well as he did. I was watching him thinking, my boyfriend is amazing. I’ve always known what a brilliant guy he is but he has excelled himself this time. I feel so lucky to be with someone who is so kind and compassionate.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga felt an “instant connection” to Bradley Cooper.
The 32-year-old singer bonded with her ‘A Star is Born’ co-star over a pasta dinner and her piano and she knew straight away there was “no other” person who could have made the movie than the 43-year-old actor.
She recalled to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I actually was performing at a cancer fundraiser for Sean Parker and I sang the song ‘La Vie En Rose,’ which, not to give it away, but it is in the film, and I sang that song, and the very next day, he wanted to meet me and he came over to my home.
“I opened the door, and the second I looked into his eyes I felt an instant connection to him.
“We’re both from the east coast, we’re both coming from Italian families, I was like ‘Are you hungry?’ I cooked him up some leftover pasta, and we were eating, and before I knew it, he said ‘I would like to sing with you, if that’s OK.’
“And we went to the piano, and I printed out the sheet music for a song that he wanted to sing called ‘Midnight Special.’ ”
Gaga admitted she wasn’t prepared for how “incredible” Bradley’s singing voice was.
She added: “I sat down and started to play, and he began to sing and I just stopped instantly in my tracks, and I looked at him and I said, ‘Bradley, you have an incredible voice, you sing from your gut, you sing from your soul, you sing from the nectar of your being.’
“He said, ‘Should we film it?’ So he filmed it on his iPhone, and we all of a sudden started to sing together, harmonising and laughing, and looking at each other.
“It was instantaneous, and I knew in this moment that I could make this film with him, and I truly believe that there’s no other actor or director in the world that could have played this role or made this film.
“There’s no other actor that could play a rock star, he’s the only one.”
And the ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker thinks Bradley would be successful if he decided to pursue a singing career.
She insisted: “If he wants to, he can do anything.”
The ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ actor agreed their meeting was “magical”.
He said: “I remember every single moment of it. From the moment she walked down the stairs, it was one of those magical things.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘IT: Chapter 2’ will attempt to bring to life some of the weirder elements from the book.
The second part of director Andy Muschietti’s acclaimed re-imagining of Stephen King’s 1986 novel is up and running following the success of the first movie last year and, although the first film was eerily spooky, Gary Dauberman has promised that the sequel will push even more boundaries and incorporate some more “metaphysical aspects.”
Speaking to Cinema Blend, he said: “The Ritual of Chüd is challenging, but it’s such an important component to the book that we had to address it. That stuff is difficult to balance, but because [director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti and I] worked with each other before, when I’m writing pages and all that stuff it becomes more of a conversation and less like, ‘Hey, here’s what I did.’ It’s sort of organic; it’s really kind of just chipping away at the stone and trying to find the most focused, accessible way into some of more metaphysical aspects of that book.”
The Ritual of Chüd is described in the book as a battle of wills in which the murderous clown Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard) and a member of the Losers Club each extend their tongues, overlap them, bite down, and then exchange jokes until one party laughs.
And Dauberman didn’t think it was possible to cover the Ritual of Chüd in the first film because him and Muschietti had to get to know one another’s cinematic style.
He explained: “I think that’s something that Andy gave a lot of thought about, which was great, because as I was kind of chugging along through the Adrian Melon stuff and sort of more the stuff that’s in the book that you kind of just want to see on screen.
“I’m writing that stuff, and Andy would kind of go off and think about Chüd and how he wants to visually represent all that stuff. He just came up with some brilliant, brilliant stuff… It really is going to be amazing.”
The movie stars James McAvoy as Bill, Bill Hader as Richie, Jessica Chastain as Beverly, James Ransone as Eddie and Andy Bean as Stan.
‘It: Chapter Two’ is scheduled for release on September 6, 2019.

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price’s ex-boyfriend believes she was “damaged” by her divorce from Peter Andre.
The 40-year-old former glamour model recently split from Kris Boyson and the fitness trainer believes she is scarred by her past relationships, in particular her first marriage to the ‘Behind Closed Doors’ hitmaker, which ended after three years in 2009.
Kris said: “She had such a hard time after Pete, I reckon she has really struggled from that.
“I think that was really mentally hard for her and I think that damaged her the most.”
Kris began dating Katie after her marriage to Kieran Hayler fell apart and he admitted he did as much as he could not to “worry” her and even missed his best friend’s stag party in an attempt to stop her getting hurt.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Since the day I met her I have not followed one person on Instagram so she didn’t have to worry and even in the early days, I was meant to go on my best friend’s stag do, but I didn’t even want to go because I knew it would worry her.
“I know how hurt she has been before and I never wanted to put her in that position where she worried.”
Kris claimed Katie – who has Harvey, 16, with former boyfriend Dwight Yorke, Junior, 13, and Princess,11, with Peter and Jett, five, and four-year-old Bunny with Kieran – has few real friends and doesn’t trust many people.
He said: “She has a lot of famous friends but her close friends aren’t famous.
“She likes to keep herself to herself. But then when she goes out she likes to talk to everyone.
“Her and Kerry Katona talk all the time, but they never see each other.
“At one party Kerry came up to me and was like ‘I’ve heard all about you.”
“But she hasn’t got many real friends, her social circle is so small, she can’t trust anyone. She is quite paranoid, and I don’t blame her. Everyone slates her.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicki Minaj has liked fans’ tweets defending her following her altercation with Cardi B.
The rappers were involved in a scuffle at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party last week, where Cardi, 25, allegedly approached Nicki and accused her of badmouthing her and disparaging her skills as a mother.
‘I Like It’ hitmaker Cardi reportedly launched a shoe at her 35-year-old rival before she was stopped by the latter’s security.
Though Cardi has commented directly on the incident, Nicki has carried on as usual on social media, but opted instead to subtly react to the many messages taking her side in the feud.
One of the messages of support Nicki hit the like button on, read: “@NICKIMINAJ you know we love you more than anything. We will ALWAYS protect and defend you no matter what. (sic)”
And another read: “Nicki would never talk about a innocent child. But just like sis said Y’all paint her out to be the bad guy. (sic)”
Following the scuffle, Cardi took to Instagram to slam Nicki.
She posted: “I’ve let a lot of sh*t slide. I let you sneak diss me. I let you lie on me. I let you attempt to stop my bags, f**k up the way I eat!
You’ve threatened other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop f**king with them! I let you talk big s**t about me. I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person and every time you copped a plea!! But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f***ing off! I’ve worked too hardand come too far to let anybody f**k with my success!!! Bitches talk all that sh*t in they raps but in real life they p**sy. This s**t really is for entertainment. (sic)”
It was recently reported that eyewitnesses thought Cardi and Nicki “might hug it out” before they started fighting at New York Fashion Week.
A party guest said: “It all happened 20 seconds after Kelly Rowland left Nicki Minaj – she was in between them. She said hi to both of them first. [I thought they] might hug it out [and then] it all went down.
“Cardi walked towards Nicki and all of a sudden Cardi started screaming something about her child. She was yelling, ‘Bitch you feisty. Bitch don’t talk s**t about my child’ at Nicki.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Scott Disick apologised to Kourtney Kardashian after introducing Sofia Richie to their children.
The 35-year-old reality star irked his ex-girlfriend – with whom he has kids Mason, eight, Penelope, six, and Reign, three – by introducing Sofia to the children, having previously promised Kourtney that he’d wait for the right moment.
Speaking to Kris Jenner on a new episode of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’, Scott said: “Last night when we got home, the kids were there, so of course they met my girlfriend.
“Kourtney goes, ‘You’re a f***ing joke. You don’t care. We discussed with the therapist that we were going to wait.’ I said, ‘We discussed with the therapist that we were going to wait until after the new year and after the holiday!’ ”
Kris, 62, subsequently conceded that Kourtney was being slightly hypocritical about the situation, having already introduced Younes Bendjima, her then-boyfriend, to the kids.
She said: “I don’t understand why she can introduce her boyfriend to the kids but you can’t introduce your girlfriend.
“She’s my daughter and I don’t want to go against her, but I see your point, too. So I would just ask, ‘Why isn’t it mutual?'”
But Kourtney – who split from Younes in August – insisted that for their children, the situation is likely to be “confusing”.
She continued: “It makes me upset, especially because we sat in front of a therapist, we said what we thought was best for the kids. We felt like a lot of changes have been made lately and that this wasn’t the best time.”
Ultimately, Scott admitted he could have dealt with the situation better and he insisted he’d never intended to upset Kourtney.
He said: “My biggest mistake was not being as clear as possible.
“I should have told Kourtney exactly what was happening, and I do realise this is something that can be hard for somebody. But by no means was I looking to make this any harder.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Love Hewitt admits spending Thanksgiving at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch was an “incredi-cray” experience.
The 39-year-old actress once worked with the late pop icon on a commercial for the lifestyle brand LA Gear, and the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker subsequently invited Jennifer – who was 10 at the time – to a party at his world-famous home, where she was mesmerised by a Ferris wheel and a candy shop that baked chocolate-chip cookies.
Looking back on the experience, Jennifer admitted: “It was amazing. It was, like, one of those big life moments where you’re like, ‘Wow this is extraordinary.'”
However, Jennifer conceded that she was simply too young to really appreciate what a surreal experience it was at the time.
She confessed that if the same opportunity had arisen during her 20s, she’d have been overcome by nerves.
She told ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’: “Now, like, thinking back on it, if I had been in my 20s, I probably would have, like, pooped my pants a little bit. Like, ‘Oh my God! I’m about to work with Michael Jackson.’
“At 10, I was just like ‘Oh he’s so cool. This is going to be really fun.'”
Jennifer learned a few of Michael’s signature dance moves for the purpose of the commercial.
And although she had to leave the shoot early in order to attend a charity function, the actress can still recall what the King of Pop – who died in June 2009 – said to her as she left.
Jennifer shared: “He stopped at the end of the day [and] he was like ‘You don’t know how important it is that you’re doing something that’s special and important for other people.’ And he was like ‘Never lose that. Always be that person.'”

The 22-year-old singer – who came out as bisexual in 2016 – has revealed that the majority of the love songs on her debut solo album will not refer to gender because, ultimately, she doesn’t consider it to be an issue.
Looking forward to her solo record, Lauren – who is best-known for starring in Fifth Harmony – explained: “Most of the songs actually don’t even allude to boy or girl, they’re just you that I’m talking to. Because it doesn’t matter. Especially when it comes to love, it really doesn’t f***ing matter.”
Lauren has claimed the world needs to become a more loving environment, and that people should feel free to love whoever they want without facing any prejudice.
The singer – who is dating Ty Dolla $ign – told Nylon magazine: “We need more love in the world. Make all the love you want with whoever the f**k you want.
“Why are you gonna waste your time hating yourself ’cause of who you like or who you wanna f**k? You might not even like them, you might just wanna f**k them, and that’s fine!”
Lauren feels that prejudice is often the result of individuals feeling insecure about themselves.
The singer has been outspoken on various political issues over recent years, but she feels that many of society’s problems can be overcome by people learning to be more accepting of themselves.
She shared: “All of the change that will ever happen in the world has to start with the individual.
“I just feel like the political state is a personal state with everybody and how they really feel about themselves … Everybody is so scared of themselves.
“Of course they’re not gonna be accepting of another person if they can’t look in the mirror and love that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Dempsey left ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ after 10 years because he lost interest in the show.
The 52-year-old actor played Dr. Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd in 252 episodes from 2005 to 2015 but made the decision to walk away from the ABC medical drama because he needed a fresh challenge in his career.
In an interview with The I Paper, he said: “Look, 10 years is a long time to be on any show. It’s very hard to keep the storylines intriguing, especially on a network show with 25 episodes a year. So for me, it was time to go … it’s nice to move on and have new challenges.”
Dempsey said goodbye to Dr. Shepherd for good when his alter ego was shot dead, however, some fans still have hope he will return to the role, despite the character’s fatal end.
He said: “They want me to come back to the show which, given what happened to Derek, is really quite funny.”
Although he accepts that he’ll always be best known for playing Dr. Shepherd, Dempsey hopes his fans also appreciate his more recent projects, such as his appearance in rom-com sequel ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’, and will get behind his new work.
Dempsey – who will next be seen in TV miniseries ‘The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair’ – said: “You want to keep being able to surprise the audience, then hopefully you take your core audience from Grey’s Anatomy, stretch them and make them come on a journey with you. Constantly improving as an artist.”
