Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson says Strip video is ‘liberating’

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson found going nude for the group’s ‘Strip’ video to be a “liberating” experience.
The 27-year-old pop star – who features in the chart-topping girl group alongside Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – appears nude in the video with various insults scrawled across her body, and Jesy has revealed why she feels so passionately about the concept of the eye-catching video.
She shared: “It was liberating.
“We absolutely loved it. We are finally in a place where we can say, I look b****y good. I’m going to enjoy myself. More women need to say that when they look in the mirror themselves.
“It’s about looking in the mirror and saying this is me and I’m beautiful. And if I looked like anyone else, it would be boring. We are the way we are and it’s good to embrace your insecurities because that’s what makes you special.”
The girls are joined in the video by the likes of mental health ambassador Bryony Gordon and trans model Maxim Magnus, as well as their friends and family members.
And Jesy feels it’s important that women learn to embrace their perceived “flaws”.
She told MailOnline: “We’ve got real women in the video who stand up for what they believe in and it was just such an incredible day because for once, none of us cared, to be like, ‘Oh god, am I showing a roll? Oh god does it make me look fat?’
“Everyone was just there feeling positive and it was an incredible energy and so much fun. No one gave a s**t.
“There’s no airbrushing. It’s so important in this day and age isn’t real. It’s all filters, it’s all airbrush, it’s all fake.
“And for young girls growing up it’s really scary. While we’ve got this platform, we just need to keep hammering it, until people start to realise and feel good about themselves and know that being themselves is enough.
“We still have insecurities, we still have our off days. Those insecurities are actually great. Flaws are great, they’re perfect, they make you, you.”

Claire Foy hasn’t offered advice to Olivia Colman about The Crown

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Foy hasn’t offered any advice to Olivia Colman about portraying Queen Elizabeth II in ‘The Crown’ because her character was “different”.
The 34-year-old actress starred as the British monarch in the hit Netflix series, but Claire has revealed she’s not given Olivia any specific advice about the challenge because although they’re playing the same character, it’s at two distinctly different stages in the Queen’s life.
Speaking to Digital Spy, she shared: “I managed to speak to her about it, but not in a character way.
“It’s more about how she’s doing, is she enjoying it, is she enjoying her days at work. It’s not about the character, we don’t need to talk about that.”
Olivia is set to assume the role for the next two seasons of the drama series.
However, Claire doesn’t feel she’s able to offer her any real insight into the character.
She said: “We’re both playing two very different women in a sense and she’s an absolutely extraordinary actress, so she doesn’t need me to give my two-pence about what I thought about Elizabeth, she doesn’t need it.”
Meanwhile, Olivia previously admitted she was thrilled to have been offered the opportunity to star in ‘The Crown’.
The British actress is a big fan of the show and she welcomed the chance to play the Queen.
She explained: “I got a phone call from my agent when I was in a car. I think I had fairly recently finished watching the first series, which I think I had done in about three nights, so I was very excited.
“My agent was trying to be subtle, not knowing who was in the car with me and she went, ‘It’s something about a tiara’ and I went, ‘Oh it’s ‘The Crown!'”

Johnny Depp entertains star-studded crowd at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Depp entertained a star-studded crowd at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London, on Thursday night (15.11.18).
The 55-year-old actor was joined on stage by Ronnie Wood, Jeff Beck, and Imelda May at the iconic venue, where he demonstrated his guitar-playing talents at the event staged in tribute to Chuck Berry.
Johnny was one of Ronnie’s special guests for the show, which was created to honour the late singer, who was one of the pioneers of rock and roll music.
Other big-name guests at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club included the likes of Keith Richards and Charlie Watts, as well as Noel Gallagher, designer Stella McCartney, and singer Katherine Jenkins.
Meanwhile, Johnny – who stars alongside Alice Cooper and Joe Perry in the rock supergroup The Hollywood Vampires – previously revealed he learned to play the guitar as a way of escaping his abusive childhood.
He recalled: “I was about 12 years old in the backseat and we were driving down the sort of main boulevard in this little town we lived, and there was a little local concert going on in the parking lot of the grocery store.
“We got stuck at a stop light and there was a band playing. I remember the name of the band, actually, they were called Rocklin Channel.”
Johnny eventually convinced his mother to buy him a guitar and he’s been a music fanatic ever since.
The acclaimed actor explained: “I found a way to escape all the, sort of, nightmare home stuff, you know?
“It was a pretty radical – a pretty unpredictable – household that I lived in. You never knew what was going to be coming next. It might be an ashtray thrown at your head. Or a shoe.”

Will Smith: I felt terrified playing the Genie in Aladdin

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith felt “terrified” playing the role of the Genie in Disney’s live-action ‘Aladdin’.
The Hollywood star has taken on the role previously held by the late Robin Williams – whose performance in the 1992 animated version of ‘Aladdin’ was widely hailed by fans – and Will has admitted to being slightly intimidated about having to follow in the footsteps of the actor, who committed suicide in 2014.
He said: “I was terrified doing the Genie after Robin Williams. But I found a lane that pays homage. It is my own thing, you know? So, I think people are going to love it.”
Will, 50, also teased the much-anticipated new movie, which stars the likes of Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he enthused: “It’s one of the greatest film-making experiences that I have ever had.
“I have worked at most of the studios, and Disney just knows what they are doing. It was really a spectacular team of people that came together around a classic story. It’s so spectacular, it’s such a beautiful movie and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Meanwhile, Will – who has also enjoyed success as a rapper – previously claimed that hard work, not talent, is the key to his fame.
The global star – who is married to actress Jada Pinkett Smith – explained: “When I moved into acting that was the first time I started applying skill to my talents.
“You know, I look at skill and talent separately. You’re born with talent and there are certain things that you just do naturally. You were gifted with a talent and you have it. But skill is acquired through discipline.”

“I wanted to tell you guys as soon as the pen hit the paper!
“I OWN MY OWN MASTERSSSSS b***hhhhhhhhh turn the f**k up! (sic)”
Iggy, 28, also admitted that her new deal has transformed her outlook towards streaming platforms.
The blonde beauty said: “I suddenly love streaming platforms.”
Last month, Iggy admitted she wanted to become her “own boss”.
The outspoken rap star revealed that she’d love to breakaway from her record label and take full ownership of her career.

Jon Cryer cast as Lex Luthor in CW’s Supergirl

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Cryer has been cast in the role of Lex Luthor in CW’s ‘Supergirl’.
The 53-year-old actor – who previously won two Primetime Emmy Awards for his role in the CBS comedy series ‘Two and a Half Men’ – is set to star as the iconic villain in the Warner Bros. Television series, which stars Melissa Benoist as Supergirl.
The show’s executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller explained: “We are enormous fans of Jon Cryer, and he was instantly our dream actor to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor.
“Jon is a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in ‘Superman IV’ brings an added layer of legacy to his casting. We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Jon to the ‘Supergirl’ family.”
The actor previously played Lenny Luthor – the nephew to Gene Hackman’s Lex – in the 1987 movie ‘Superman IV: A Quest for Peace’.
Cryer will make his debut as the character in the 15th episode of the show’s current season.
Meanwhile, Melissa previously revealed that the current series of ‘Supergirl’ would take the show in a new direction.
She shared: “The writers’ room is being really great this year. Last season, it was a lot of fire and brimstone and a lot of homages to ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, which was great because I was such a big fan of that show.
“This season they really want to thematically tackle more topical stories that maybe mirror what’s going on with the state of the world and our country.
“There’s a lot of anti-alien sentiment at the beginning of Season 4 that ‘Supergirl’ is going to have to grapple with. I think their main premise is that fear itself is a villain, and can hope conquer it?
“‘Supergirl’ stands for hope, so we’ll see. I think fear is her biggest opponent yet because it’s more of a wildfire-type emotion.”

Diego Luna says Narcos: Mexico is a ‘new beginning’

OHMYGOSSIP — Diego Luna thinks ‘Narcos: Mexico’ represents a “new beginning”.
The 38-year-old actor stars alongside Michael Pena in the new series, which was originally intended to be a fourth season of ‘Narcos’ but has instead been developed as a standalone project.
Speaking about the series, Diego explained: “I think this is the new beginning.
“We’re going with a completely new cast, new story, new country. It even looks different.”
Diedo – who plays the part of Mexican drug lord Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo in the series – grew up in Mexico and thinks that the show will perform an important role in shedding a light on issues surrounding the drugs trade.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Around 88, I started to wake up … I started to be a little more political about it.
“So going back to those days, it’s interesting. And telling this story matters because … to understand the present, we have to take a look at the past and see what went wrong – and many things went wrong.”
Diego feels the Netflix show explores an important issue that ought to be brought to the attention of the wider world.
He said: “This is the beginning of the war we’re living today.
“Today in Mexico, violence is crazy. And it’s not our violence. It’s not the violence of Mexico. This violence belongs to the whole world because this is a global issue we have.
“I think it’s important for people to see where their drugs come from.
“It’s important to tell those stories and to raise the question, how much are we all involved in this? That’s important.”

Stan Lee’s private funeral

OHMYGOSSIP — Stan Lee has been laid to rest after a “private closed ceremony”.
The 95-year-old Marvel Comics legend passed away last week and his family held a small, intimate memorial service on Friday (16.11.18), in accordance with his wishes.
Stan’s POW! Entertainment company shared a message on Twitter, which read: “Stan was always adamant that he did not want a large public funeral, and as such his family has conducted a private closed ceremony in accordance with his final wishes. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with him.”
However, fans will have the chance to pay their respect to Stan in the near future.
The statement continued: “We at Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment are working on putting together a tribute befitting the greatest creator of our time and the father of modern pop culture. The grandeur of Stan makes this a monumental task, and we hope to have more info in the days to come. In the meantime, we understand and share your desire to commune with fellow fans, and we have set up a tribute wall on therealstanlee.com where we can all share our thoughts, prayers and messages of support.
“We look forward to joining all of Stan’s fans in celebrating his extraordinary life and legacy.”
Stan Lee began his career as a comic-book writer, editor, film executive producer, actor, and publisher, in 1935, and has created or co-created some of the most famous comic book characters – and later on-screen heroes – that are still loved by millions today.
In collaboration with artist Jack Kirby, Stan created the likes of Black Panther, Nick Fury, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Inhumans, and Scarlet Witch, as well as teaming up with his own brother Larry Leiber and Jack on the creation of Ant-Man and Thor, and again with Jack, Larry, and Don Heck on one of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes, Iron Man.
Stan also joined forces with artist and writer Steve Ditko – who passed away in June this year – to create the legendary web-slinging superhero Spider-Man, as well as Doctor Strange.
Stan is credited with being the first writer to give his superheroes flaws and hang-ups, as well as allowing villains to have psychological complexity that blurred the lines between good and evil.
He was made interim editor for Marvel predecessor Timely Comics at just 19, and after serving in World War II, he returned to his editor position at the newly named Marvel Comics, and – alongside Jack Kirby – launched ‘The Fantastic Four’ in 1961 as an answer to rivals DC Comics’ ‘Justice League’.
In 1972, he was named publisher of the company, and in 1980, he moved from New York to Los Angeles to set up an animation studio and build relationships in Hollywood.
His characters have now been showcased on both television and blockbuster film, and he is known for making cameo appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films.
Stan’s wife Joan passed away last year, and he is survived by his 68-year-old daughter Joan Celia Lee.

John Legend: Kanye sees himself in Trump

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend believes Kanye West saw a lot of himself in President Donald Trump.
The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker has previously criticised his friend’s support of the American leader and he thinks the ‘Bound 2’ rapper was “seduced” by Trump’s marketing tactics, admitting he wasn’t convinced Kanye understood what the Commander-in-Chief stands for.
Speaking to Heat magazine, he said: “It’s all very disconcerting. I think the bottom line is, Kanye’s been seduced by the marketing appeal, the persona of Trump that reminds him so much of himself. That’s what he’s been seduced by.
“And I don’t know that he even knows what Trump’s policies are, or the substance of his legislative programme. But I think he sees a lot of himself in Trump and he admires that. And it’s unfortunate.”
Kanye recently announced that he plans to take a step back from politics as he feels he has been “used to spread messages he doesn’t believe in”.
In a series of Twitter posts, he wrote: “I support creating jobs and opportunities for people who need them the most, I support prison reform, I support common-sense gun laws that will make our world safer … I support those who risk their lives to serve and protect us and I support holding people who misuse their power accountable. I believe in love and compassion for people seeking asylum and parents who are fighting to protect their children from violence and war … I would like to thank my family, loved ones, and community for supporting my ACTUAL beliefs and my vision for a better world … My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!! (sic)”

Eva Longoria is loving motherhood

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Longoria is “embracing every moment” of parenthood.
The former ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress and her husband Jose ‘Pepe’ Baston welcomed son Santiago into the world five months ago and the 43-year-old actress loves to see how the tot is growing and changing every day.
She said: “I’m still in ecstasy with becoming a mother and embracing every moment. He’s starting to laugh now and react to people, which is really exciting and fun to watch.”
Eva is also thankful to have a number of close friends she can turn to when she’s in need of parenting advice.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, she said: “I have a really great group of girlfriends who are mums who have been through it and give really good advice. It’s just really nice to be surrounded by that tribe of women.”
Eva recently vowed to raise her son to understand feminist values and to teach him about equality, which she knows will be a “big lesson”.
She said: “People overthink the word ‘feminism’. It means equality. That’s it. So it’s not a lot of degrees of equality. It is what it is. So for me to be able to teach him women are equal to men is going to be a big lesson. But it’s not only about teaching him, it’s about showing him.”
The ‘Telenovela’ star knows that children “emulate” what those around them are doing, so will make sure she “walks the walk” when it comes to being a feminist.
She added: “And a lot of times, our young kids, they emulate. They’re not going to hear what I’m saying. He wants to emulate what I’m doing, so I think it’s important for us to walk the walk.”

Mel B left with just 800 after marriage split

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B was left with just £800 after her marriage broke down.
The Spice Girls singer has lashed out at her former husband Stephen Belafonte, claiming he seized control of her £80 million fortune during their marriage.
Writing in her autobiography, ‘Brutally Honest’, she said: “In the past 20-something years of my life, I have made more than £80 million.
“When I met my second husband (Stephen), I had a house and a loft apartment in LA and a good career. When I left him I walked away with nothing but $936 (£800) in a bank account and suitcases full of clothes, books and toys. I didn’t care. I was happy. My kids were happy. Finally, after ten years, I was free.”
And she blasted Stephen for his controlling nature during their 10-year marriage.
She said: “[During the marriage] I became a woman who didn’t have her own computer, didn’t drive herself, didn’t know her bank details, didn’t make decisions.”
Mel, who has a seven-year-old daughter Madison with Stephen, also lashed out at the producer, calling him a monster and said she hopes her new book will save other women from going through what she did.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I don’t think any other woman could have survived it the way that I did.
“So I’m glad the book will expose him for the next woman he’s trying to woo. This is a bad, twisted person who’s going to prey on a woman’s vulnerability, openness or happiness and just crush every part of it.”
Mel also has Angel, 11, with Eddie Murphy and Phoenix, 19, with her first husband Jimmy Gulzar.

Carey Mulligan ‘loved working with’ Jake Gyllenhaal

OHMYGOSSIP — Carey Mulligan was so “excited to work alongside her friend of ten years” Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Wildlife’.
The 33-year-old actress plays Jeanette Brinson, a woman who struggles to cope when her husband Jerry (Gyllenhaal) leaves to fight a forest fire, in the Paul Dano directed flick and she admits it was a great thrill to get to shoot a movie with her pal.
Speaking on The Empire Film Podcast, Mulligan said: “You meet this sort of this classic American family and it seems like a dutiful 50s housewife and their sweet son. Then the husband leaves to fight this forest fire and she starts to unravel and you kind of, page to page, don’t know what direction she’s going to go in, and that was quite exciting to play.
“I love that you’re seeing someone really f***ing everything up because, we just don’t see that in women on screen, we just see great saintly dutiful women doing the right thing, and it’s just not true.
“We were in the set of our house – where a lot of the film was shot – and it felt like we were rehearsing the night before we shot the scene and all that, we kind of just had to wing it, which is fine!
“Jake and I have known each other for 10 years and so we kind of knew how to work together and we had a little bit of night-before rehearsal when we got there.”
The ‘Great Gatsby’ star – who has three-year-old daughter Evelyn with her musician husband Marcus Mumford – confessed that working with actor-turned-director Dano on his first project was nerve-wracking and “intimidating” at first.
Mulligan added: “It was different for me and I was kind of nervous from the beginning and I was sort of intimidated by his work. His work is so instinctive and he’s really honest and everything he does is honest and truthful. There is a scene where Jake goes to go and fight the fire and we have this enormous row and we took a day to shoot it. We got half way through and we got a bit stuck, and he identified it immediately and sort of fixed the problem, where I think maybe a director who didn’t understand the process may have pushed it or tried to approach it in a different way.”

Kimberley Walsh is open to reuniting with Girls Aloud

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadine Coyle still believes Girls Aloud will reunite “when the time is right”.
The 33-year-old singer – who recently admitted she never had a friendship with her bandmates – isn’t in contact with Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding or Kimberley Walsh at the moment and though it’s been five years since they went their separate ways, she believes they’ll get on stage together again one day in the future.
She said: “I would never say never to that particular scenario – it would just have to mean that everything is right. I’m sure that at some point, whenever the time is right, we’ll make something happen.”
Explaining her lapsed relationships with the other girls, Nadine claims she finds it hard to find the time to make contact with the rest of the ‘Biology’ hitmakers.
Speaking to Closer magazine, she said: “It’s difficult enough to see your own friends and family and do the world you need to do, you know without widening that too much.”
But the ‘Insatiable’ singer doesn’t have any hard feelings towards her former bandmates and will always defend them.
She said: “I would never let anyone say anything bad about the girls – you just wish the best for everybody and that they’re happy.
“I’m very supportive of all of them and everything they do – all of their ventures, whether it be music or acting or motherhood. In general, I wish them all the happiness.”
Nadine previously claimed the rest of the group disliked her because she was always given more vocals.
She said: “A thing that did cause stress in the band was the fact that I was given more lines and the girls didn’t like Brian [Higgins, Girls Aloud collaborator and the mastermind behind pop production team Xenomania] as a result of it.
“They didn’t like the label as a result of it, and they didn’t like me as a result of it. So it was just circumstances which were out of my control: I didn’t decide who sang what. But I love my life and I just get on with it.”
Kimberley – who just this week refuted Nadine’s claims the fivesome didn’t get along – previously teased that the ‘Call The Shots’ hitmakers could reform in 2022 to mark the 20th anniversary of their creation on TV talent show ‘Popstars: The Rivals’.
She said: “It may be something that will happen in the future – maybe for the 20th. If the planets collided and it was the right time, then definitely.”
