Lily Collins 'hacked off' her eyebrows to help her fit in

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Collins “hacked off” her eyebrows to help her fit in.
The 27-year-old actress found it a “culture shock” moving from Los Angeles to England when she was younger and felt she had to “alter” her appearance, which saw her attack her facial feature, to help her integrate with other people.
Speaking openly about her beauty blunder in a video with InStyle.com, the brunette beauty said: “Well growing up moving to England from Los Angeles it was a culture shock coming here. And I wanted to fit in and I think we all want to fit in at a young age, and we alter things about ourselves that we think are different to fit in better, and one of those things was my eyebrows. They were so bold they were very big on my face, and as a kid I wanted to change that. So, I took it upon myself to hack them away and I thought I had done such a great job.”
However, the ‘Rules Don’t Apply’ star – who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins and his former partner Jill Tavelman – has admitted her parents were not impressed with her action, and encouraged her to accept her “quirky” characteristics because they make her “beautiful”.
She explained: “And my mum was looking at me at dinner one night and said ‘What did you do?’ And I thought ‘I know, they look amazing right?’ And she proceeded to tell me ‘You need to accept the quirky things that make you different and what make you beautiful, it’s the things that stand out that make you unique, and allow people to appreciate that.'”
Lily doesn’t believe in “perfection” and has admitted she is a “victim” of judging herself, although she has claimed it is “normal” to compare yourself to others she has realised as she has matured people are who they are because of their unique traits.
She said: “Perfection to me is unattainable. And even though I am in the pages of magazine, I still find myself a victim of looking through and judging myself based on what I see, I think it’s human to do that.
“The older you get, the more you see that people you admire and find beautiful have different things about them that make them them. So, I think it’s really important whether its characteristic s of your personality, or physical characteristics that define who you are, different is beautiful.”

Ashley Graham feels like 'an outsider' because of her body

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham felt like “an outsider” because of her body shape.
The 28-year-old model – who is known for being the first plus sized female to feature on the cover of Sport’s Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2016 – believes her weight has led her to feeling cast out by the fashion industry, although she has noticed a change in the business because of her.
Speaking openly to V magazine about her aesthetic, the brunette beauty said: “For so long I have been an outsider because of my size.
“And I think that fashion has always in some way catered to celebrities or to a thinner idealistic model. And I think now it’s changing because of voices like mine.”
Ashley – who first signed with Wilhelmina Models in 2001 and has starred in campaigns for Simply Be, Elomi lingerie and Lane Bryant – believes a person is born to be a model and they cannot be taught how to be a catwalk icon.
She explained: “I don’t think that you can teach someone how to be a model.”
However, she does think one can learn how to “act on set” and be “personable”.
She continued: “I think you can teach them how to appreciate the unique things about themselves; and I think you can teach people how to act on set or how to be personable.”
And the Nebraska-born star has hinted she bares all in the images she uploads to social media to encourage other women to embrace their bodies and to showcase what people have “never seen before”.
She said: “One thing I realized in like posting a half nude photos [on Instagram] is: why am I posting them? Am I posting them because I think I am hot? Or am I posting them because I want women to see what they’ve never seen before because that’s what they look like.”

Karlie Kloss: 'Fashion wasn't really a part of my life'

OHMYGOSSIP — Karlie Kloss never thought fashion would be “part of my life”.
The 24-year-old model – who first started modelling at the age of 14 – has admitted she has had to “grow into” the fashion industry as she never expected to be a successful model, and it wasn’t until she started posing for fashion and beauty campaigns her eyes “opened” to this “world of creativity”.
Speaking about her career to Elle Australia, the blonde beauty said: “For me, I definitely had to grow into it. First and foremost I had to learn fashion. Fashion wasn’t really a part of my life until I started working in the industry as a model and had my eyes opened to this whole other world of creativity and of designers and business and industry. There were hundreds and thousands of jobs that I wasn’t really aware of before. I really think I grew into my own point of view and developed my taste and I’d say it’s more simple and hopefully classic and chic.”
And the catwalk icon has admitted not only has she had to grow into her career but she has also developed her style and perspective over time.
She explained: “I think everybody kind of has to grow into their own style and their own perspective. You grow into who you are and your viewpoints on life and how you want to dress and that’s the great part of fashion, it’s a self-expression. You can change it by the day.
“You can wear a feminine summer dress one day and then leather pants and studs the next. You can really be whoever you want to be or express how you’re feeling or what you’re inspired by through what you put on your body and I think that’s really freeing and empowering.”
