Alexa Chung was told by Kate Moss she was a ‘really bad’ DJ

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung was told by Kate Moss she was a “really bad” DJ.
The 34-year-old television presenter was asked to take to the decks at a fashion show after party hosted by designer Karl Lagerfeld, but after just “six minutes” of entertaining the audience the 43-year-old supermodel had her replaced with another DJ.
Speaking on Sean Evans’ YouTube series titled ‘Hot Ones’, the model said: “So I burnt all my CD’s and I picked out a playlist and I went on, and then Kate Moss came over and was like ‘Hi I’m Kate Moss’, I was like ‘Hi nice to meet you.’ And she said ‘I’ve arranged for someone else to takeover because you’re really bad at DJ’ing’, and I was like ‘Okay fine, understood.’ So I lasted about six minutes.”
Alexa relocated to New York in 2009, but the star has hailed the UK for better style because she believes people are encouraged and “celebrated” for their “eccentric” dress sense.
When asked what country has the best fashion sense, she said: “England. I think there’s room for irreverence and quirkiness in Britain. Or it’s celebrated when people are eccentric, this is going back from King George or something. People like it when you’re a bit weird. Whereas in America there’s safety in uniformity. It’s still interesting over here but it’s slicker.”
And the star has revealed she gets “fewer looks” for dressing “like a freak” when she is in London.
She added: “And you get fewer looks for dressing like a freak in London.”
Alexa – who was scouted at the age of 16 years old – has admitted there are pitfalls in the fashion industry, and she finds the “power dynamic” between the model and the photographer “creepy” and “weird”.
Speaking about the obscure side to the business, the fashion designer – who launched her own eponymous fashion label earlier this year, and has previously created a range for Madewell and Marks and Spencer – explained: “Photographers being creepy. There’s always just a little bit of a weird transaction, it can’t not be. Because you are being observed and captured for a purely visual asset. So that power dynamic is always going to be weird. It’s the language they talk, like’ that’s good, yeah I like that’. It’s just a little bit weird.”

Steve Madden contemplates quitting the fashion industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Madden has contemplated quitting the fashion industry.
The 59-year-old fashion designer – who founded his eponymous label in 1990 – has admitted he goes through fazes when he thinks there is “nothing” more he can do to improve his label and he should give up his career, but other days he feels “incredible” and “valuable”.
Speaking to Marie Claire Online, he said: “More now, actually. I suppose there were moments then, but really, now.
“The pupils are better than the teacher. And as the teacher and the builder, I have to figure out another way that I can add value to my company. So now, because I’m an entrepreneur, maybe there’s nothing I can do anymore. Maybe I should just quit – I have thought that. But then I have incredible days where I feel valuable.”
Steve is proud of his “wonderful company” and his colleagues.
The mogul added: “I have this wonderful company, and I have these amazing people whom I taught the business, and they’re better than me.”
And when the creative mastermind is building his team he looks for passionate colleagues with a hard “work ethic” to join his team.
He explained: “It’s passion, work ethic, and knowing what’s important – and the work ethic is the third of those three. It used to be first, but I’ve modified that, because I know certain people who work very hard but are dopey, but I give them points for working hard. I admire young people–they get certain things. But showing up is the most important thing. It’s a combination of respecting their peers and respecting their elders but not in a false way, like ‘Let me learn from this dude.’ I don’t have anybody left to learn from, because now, I’m the old guy. I used to be the young cat, and I used to learn from everybody. Now I’m the mentor. There’s so much wisdom you get just by being around.”

Lottie Moss’ modelling career is ‘a bit of a blur’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lottie Moss’ modelling career is “a bit of a blur”.
The 19-year-old beauty was scouted at the age of 13 years old, and though she felt she embarked on a career in the fashion business “so young” and she “didn’t know what was going on”, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Speaking about her career to Evening Standard Online, the star – who is signed to Storm Model Management – said: “I went into Storm to talk to them. I was so young, I didn’t really even know what was going on. I just thought, ‘This is really cool.’
“Everything just kind of happened. It is all a bit of a blur for me as I was so young.
“I know I was young but I feel like you only get one shot and you just have to take it.
“If I looked back and I hadn’t done it, I would be like, ‘Why didn’t I do it?'”
And Lottie believes as she has got “older” she has realised what an “amazing” opportunity she has been fortunate to have.
She continued: “You realise that when you are older how amazing this opportunity is. I mean who gets to do this? No one.”
Although Lottie is honoured to partner with designer brands, including Bulgari, Chanel and Calvin Klein, she has admitted she has her insecurities, but has tried her best to love her “imperfections”.
Speaking previously, she said: “We may not all love our figure, we all have imperfections but I have learnt to love mine, I don’t have a small bum or huge boobs but I’m happy that way (sic).”

OHMYGOSSIP — Pat McGrath is set to receive the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator at The Fashion Awards 2017.
The 52-year-old make-up artist – who boasts a long list of celebrity clientele – is set to pick up the honour at the upcoming ceremony in partnership with Swarovski, which will take place on Monday (04.12.17) at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Pat has been nominated for the gong because of her contribution to the global fashion and beauty industry, which has seen her work with designer brands, including Prada, Miu Miu, Valentino and Versace, on their campaigns and catwalk shows.
The Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator recognises Pat – who recently launched her own beauty range – for being an inspiring innovator in the business, and for contributing to the business.
But Pat is not the only mogul to be recognised at the star-studded bash next week, as Donatella Versace and Maria Grazia Chiuri are also set to take home prestigious titles.
The 62-year-old fashion designer – who is the artistic director of Versace – is set to receive the Fashion Icon Award, which celebrates the star’s work with the fashion house set up by her late brother Gianni Versace in 1978.
And Donatella is “truly honoured” to be receiving the title, and to be continuing her sibling’s 20-year legacy.
She said: “I am truly honoured to be collecting the Fashion Icon Award at The Fashion Awards 2017. For 40 years my brother and I have done what we love and that is a legacy I am honoured to continue and uphold.
“We have celebrated empowerment, joy and of course glamour. We have championed a community of people who share our values and together with them have created truly iconic images in the world of fashion.
“I am truly humbled by how Versace has been embraced across the decades, across the world and across the generations. Thank you to the industry for your support of us, thank you to my team for their loyalty and incredibly hard work, thank you to my family and friends who have supported me more than they can know and thank you to the genius that was my brother Gianni. His incredible spirit is in everything we do and everything we stand for.”

Saoirse Ronan embraces acne in new film ‘Lady Bird’

OHMYGOSSIP — Saoirse Ronan was “totally game” for going make-up free in new film ‘Lady Bird’.
The 23-year-old actress was asked to go au naturel and not cover up her “spots and the blemishes” on her face for her role as a teenager in the comedy drama production, which she was more than happy to do.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times Online about her appearance for the project, ‘The Lovely Bones’ star said: “When we sat down to do the camera tests, the make-up artist said, ‘How do you feel about maybe leaving the spots and the blemishes and not covering them up so much?’ I was totally game to do it, because you never see that. Not in a way of, ‘Oh, my God. I’m going to be super raw about it.’ Just, ‘This is my face right now, this is the way it looks, and it’s being a teenager’, so let’s go for it.”
And though the star insists she never suffered with acne when she was a child, she thinks if someone had of asked her about her blemishes when she was younger she would have broken down in tears.
She said: “The other day, someone mentioned ‘that acne they put on your face in the movie’ to me. That was my acne. If I had been 17 and someone had said that, I would have cried.”
Meanwhile, Saoirse has started meditating because she is a “big worrier”.
She explained: “I get anxious. I’m a big worrier. I worry about work. Whether I’ve upset someone. Not being able to do a good job. You get onto set sometimes and you’re like, ‘I’m worried I’ve forgotten how to act.'”

The mogul is “truly humbled” by the success of the label over almost 40 years, and she is thankful for the support she has received over the years.
She continued: “I am truly humbled by how Versace has been embraced across the decades, across the world and across the generations. She has shown incredible strength and dedication to the industry and has continued her brother’s legacy through her remarkable work. What I admire the most about her is her ability to make women look and feel powerful. I could not imagine a better recipient of this award, especially as this year marks such an important date for Versace.”

Karlie Kloss believes ‘more women’ are needed in the technology industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Karlie Kloss believes “more women and girls” are needed in the technology industry.
The 25-year-old model set up her non-profit organisation Kode with Klossy in 2015, which sees her run coding camps for people aged 15 to 18 years old, because she wanted to “understand” the business and educate other people about a topic “most of the world” does not know as she believes females need to be more involved in this sector.
Speaking to Business of Fashion, she said: “I wanted to understand what they knew that I didn’t and what most of the world doesn’t.
“If you can understand how things work and how they are built, you can build anything yourself.
“Our brains are just wired differently, we problem solve differently. And ultimately, that’s what code is: it’s creative problem-solving. Having more women and girls in the conversation, at the table when you are building algorithms, when you are problem-solving — we are going to come up with a different way to get to the answer.”
And the Victoria’s Secret star is proud of her initiative because she thinks it is “really empowering” for women.
She explained: “We create the space and give the access to the learning for the girls, but knowledge is power and I think this is a really empowering thing for these young women.
“There are so many ways that technology can create more efficiency in our industry.
“It’s amazing to see the impact that we’ve been able to have on the girls who have been in our camps and in our communities. They change the way that they think about themselves and [what they think] they are capable of. That confidence factor is key.”

Karlie Kloss’ overcomes skin ‘trouble’

OHMYGOSSIP — Karlie Kloss has had “trouble” with her skin for the last 12 months.
The 25-year-old model has admitted she has taken for granted having “good skin”, especially over the last year because she has struggled to maintain her flawless complexion.
Speaking in a skincare tutorial video, which was posted on her YouTube channel Klossy, with beauty expert Georgia Louise, Karlie said: “Good morning guys,
“We are here in Shanghai and it is the day we have all been waiting for, it’s the Victoria’s Secret show today.
“I have had trouble with my skin in the last year so this has been a whole new learning experience for me. I really took for granted having good skin.”
And the entrepreneur – who set up her coding organisation named Kode with Klossy – has advised anyone who has a “big event” pending or are in need of a “really good morning routine” to take her advice.
She explained: “Whether you have a big event coming up, or you just want a really good morning routine. These are some really good hacks.”
During the video Georgia demonstrated four steps to follow to help achieve clear and vibrant-looking skin, which included bathing your face in a bucket of ice, mask and massage the skin, apply moisturising serum that is not oil and freeze sticks to boost circulation.
Georgia said: “I have a bucket of ice. I may sound horrible but trust me, it’s going to tighten and brighten your skin.”
While Karlie was carrying out the treatment she admitted the sensation felt nice once she overcame the cold.
She said: “Feel the burn. It’s cold. It actually feels nice after a while. My hands are just as cold too.”
Georgia advised Karlie to apply the mask to the palm of her hand to warm up before rubbing gently into her skin, ensuring to swipe across the forehead and working towards the hair line, before using a “butterfly” technique across the nose and cheekbones. And Karlie believes a thorough regime is vital for her, because models needs to have a “good foundation” for make-up artists to apply cosmetic products to ahead of a campaign or catwalk appearance.
She said: “We are going to have a lot of make-up on for the show, so we want to have a good foundation.”
Once serum was applied to Karlie’s face, the catwalk icon used “freeze sticks”, although cold tea spoons are a suitable alternative, to “drain the skin”.

Stella McCartney is urging for the fashion business to ‘change’

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney is urging for the fashion business to “change the system”.
The 46-year-old fashion designer – who launched her eponymous cruelty-free label in 2001 – wants other brands, as well as customers, to unite and spark a major overhaul in the industry by stopping animal cruelty and finding alternative materials to use.
Speaking at an event that took place at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, which she co-hosted with Ellen MacArthur, she said: “We call on the entire industry, brands, and customers to come together and fundamentally change the system.
“We are in a moment of change. This is the time to capture people’s imagination, provide solutions, and look at it as a positive. I think now, people are ready to listen.”
And the businesswoman is encouraging consumers to be more conscious of disposing of their clothes and how they wash their garments, as it also harms the environment.
She explained: “In the last 15 years, we have doubled the amount of clothes we produce. And now they get worn an average of three times before they’re thrown away.
“One truckload of textiles goes into landfill every second.
“We don’t need to wash our clothes anything like as much as we do, it degrades them. I learned that when I was working as a tailoring intern on Savile Row. Why do we wash our clothes so much? Because we’ve been sort of lied to by other industries. Every industry does that for benefit.
“It is doable. We just have to want to do it.”
And Stella has revealed she has been faced with a number of hurdles by using alternative fabrics, but she has learnt to accept it.
She said: “If people in business could find incentives. From policies and from governments … Leather is a massive impact in my industry. I don’t use leather but when I export things to America, I can get taxed because it’s not leather. Now I absorb that into my margin.”

Jasmine Tookes cried seeing Lais Ribeiro in Victoria’s Secret Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra

OHMYGOSSIP — Jasmine Tookes cried when she saw Lais Ribeiro in the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra.
The 26-year-old model donned the highly coveted garment in last year’s annual catwalk show, and the star has admitted she welled up when she had to pass the honour on to her successor, and she sobbed “every time” she saw the 27-year-old star don the Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra diamond, sapphire and blue topaz encrusted underwear set during this year’s show, which took place in Shanghai, China, on November 20.
Speaking to WMagazine.com, the star said: “You have no idea. When they put the video out about the bra, every time I watched it I would start crying.”
However, Jasmine is still proud of her colleague and “best friend”, and she thinks Lais “deserved” to wear the showstopping piece.
She continued: “She is one of my best friends, and is just so amazing.
“In Thailand, we would give speeches around the table and every time it would be like, ‘You deserve it Lais.’ Everyone loves her so much.”
Following the fashion extravaganza a group of the models, including Jasmine, Lais, Josephine Skriver and Sara Sampaio, jetted off to Thailand for a celebratory trip.
Speaking about the vacation, Jasmine said: “And Bali was one of my number one bucket list places to go. I always try to [take a break after the show], and luckily this time we had four days to relax. It was good to relax on the beach and have some cocktails.
“It was amazing.”
However, Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd is still suffering with jetlag following the trip.
She said: “The jetlag has been really affecting me, I have to say. It is the farthest I’ve ever been. I’m awake every night from one to five a.m., and I am not doing anything productive.”
The 22-year-old star acquired her wings in 2015, but this month’s showcase marked her first time opening the major event, which she was “really really nervous” about.
She explained: “I was really, really nervous because it was my first time opening a segment, but it went good, I think! It felt great. I liked [the longer runway] because sometimes it goes so fast, but now we had a little more time to enjoy it.”

Maria Grazia Chiuri says fashion is a ‘very powerful medium’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maria Grazia Chiuri believes fashion is a “very powerful medium”.
The 53-year-old designer has admitted since taking on the role as the creative director of Dior last year she has not only had to learn about the brand’s house style, but also how the late fashion designer and founder of the company Christian Dior thought, which has made her “realise” the power designer’s have in the business.
Speaking to The Telegraph Online, the creative mastermind said: “Since I’ve been researching Christian Dior, I’ve learned that understanding this house isn’t just about learning how he cut. It’s discovering how he thought. He was a gallerist before he worked in fashion. He had avant-garde tastes and a lot of views that for the times were quite progressive. Plus, I’ve realised that fashion is a very powerful medium.”
Maria – who previously worked at fashion houses Valentino and Fendi – believes she became “complacent” and didn’t feel she needed to be “vocal” about feminism when she was younger.
She explained: “For all those years I worked at Fendi, it never occurred to me to be vocal. It was such an amazing company – and entirely run by the five Fendi sisters. There didn’t seem any need to shout about feminism. I guess I had got very complacent, like a lot of my generation.
“But I grew up in a family where nudity was totally OK and natural. I never saw a contradiction between showing your body and being feminist.”
However, Maria thinks women are their “own worst enemies” because they do their utmost to please other people rather than speak out when they need to make themselves a priority.
She continued: “Women are often their own worst enemies in this respect. We’re so conditioned to think the most important thing is to please others, that we don’t always put ourselves forward. You have to keep challenging your thinking. That’s the only way to change anything.”

Poppy said: “I’m excited to be joining this fantastic line up and hope my ‘ALL THAT GLITTERS’ sweatshirt adds some sparkle this Christmas Jumper Day. My visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo allowed me to see first-hand how Save the Children is working tirelessly to empower girls and stop child marriage. Together, through this campaign we can raise lots of money to support and empower every last child around the world.”
Adwoa Aboah has also backed the campaign after seeing how the “aid really does work”.

To see the smiles on the children’s faces, despite all the struggles they face, was incredible. I’ve seen how the money is spent from fundraising campaigns like Christmas Jumper Day and I can vouch for the fact that aid really does work. So if you’ve got a heart of GOLD, make sure you buy my Selfish Mother jumper this Christmas. Half the cost is donated to the vital work of Save the Children – a charity I urge you all to support.”
And fellow catwalk icon Erin has also urged the public to support after she has backed the charity for years.
She said: “If you want to be an ‘ELFISH MOTHER’ like me – get yourself one of my Selfish Mother sweatshirts for Save the Children. I’ve been supporting Save the Children for years and am a big fan of Selfish Mother – so of course had to join the collaboration again this year. By buying a sweatshirt and taking part in Christmas Jumper Day you’ll help to make a big difference to the children who need it most.”

I hope that lots of you will join me in wearing my ‘PEACE’ sweatshirt on 15th December. Christmas Jumper Day is the perfect way to support a wonderful charity that is bringing real change to children’s lives.”

Maria Grazia Chiuri to receive Swarovski Award for Positive Change

OHMYGOSSIP — Maria Grazia Chiuri is set to receive the Swarovski Award for Positive Change at the 2017 The Fashion Awards.
The 53-year-old fashion designer is set to be honoured with the accolade at the star-studded bash in partnership with Swarovski, which will take place at London’s Albert Hall on Monday (04.12.17), for her contribution to women’s empowerment in the fashion industry, as she is the first female to hold the title of Creative Director at Dior.
And the creative mastermind – who previously helmed the Italian fashion house Valentino – is “delighted” to be selected for the gong, which she hopes will inspire other women.
Maria said: “I am delighted and very honoured to receive the Swarovski Award for Positive Change. The feminist movement that has been mine for the longest time has finally struck a resonant chord in society, and this recognition sends a powerful message to all women battling on a daily basis.”
Maria is the second figure in the business to receive the honour, which was presented for the first time in 2016 to the late Franca Sozzani.
And the mogul thinks her award is the perfect time to pay tribute to the Editor-in-Chief at Vogue Italia, who tragically passed away last year aged 66 years old.
Maria added: “It also offers a timely opportunity to pay tribute to Franca Sozzani who, last year, was the recipient of the very first award.”
And the British Fashion Council believe Maria’s deserves the title because of her “determination” to encourage females to “believe in themselves”, and for being a “great inspiration” to people across the globe.
Dame Natalie Massenet – who is the Chairman of BFC – said: ” With this award, Maria Grazia will be celebrated for her successful creative achievements, her contribution to female empowerment within fashion and her determination to encourage women of future generations to believe in themselves. The positive impact she has had on the fashion and global communities makes her a great inspiration to all of us.”

Manolo Blahnik ‘adores’ Rihanna

OHMYGOSSIP — Manolo Blahnik “adores” Rihanna.
The 75-year-old fashion designer has teamed up with the ‘work’ hitmaker to launch an array of footwear collections under his eponymous label, and though the mogul enjoyed working with the 29-year-old singer he has insisted he has created his “last collection” with her because he is “tired”.
Speaking about the artist, the creative mastermind said: “I adore her movement. Her every movement encapsulates all her Bayan culture and that’s what captivated me about her. That and her beautiful eyes. But you know, I can’t work with everybody. We’ve done the last collection now and I said to her, ‘Goodbye my dear darling. That’s it. I’m tired.’ For the time being, it’s over. I can’t cope with it all. I’m not a spring baby anymore.”
And not only is Manolo “tired” he also struggles to relax and is “very nervous”.
He added: “I’m very impatient and I’m not relaxed at all. In fact, I’m very nervous. I always have been and I always will.”
Meanwhile, the businessman who is known for his exquisite and luxury footwear, has admitted it “upsets” him when he sees a copy of his designs that is “too similar” to his original version, although he believes the fake designs can “never replicate the quality” of his releases.
Speaking about fake Manolo Blahnik shoes to ElleUK.com, he said: “I don’t care anymore. Sometimes it’s complimentary, but when they’re too similar that upsets me. Two years ago, a woman came up to me in Milan and said, ‘Do you like my Manolos?’ I said, ‘Well yes I do but these are not Manolos. These are a rip-off.’ She took the shoe off and it turned out that they really were authentic Manolos. That’s how similar copies have become – sometimes I can’t tell the difference. Also, they can never replicate the quality.”

Gigi Hadid is ‘so proud’ of sister Bella Hadid for VS Fashion Show

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid is “so proud” of sister Bella Hadid walking in the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The 22-year-old model missed out on gracing the runway in the lingerie giant’s annual fashion show, which took place in Shanghai, China, last week, but that didn’t stop the blonde-haired beauty from supporting her 21-year-old sibling and “all [her] angelic friends” when the catwalk show recently aired on CBS.
Gigi posted an image of Bella strutting along the platform in a black lace bra and matching angel wings on her Instagram Story, which lasts on the photo-sharing site for 24 hours.

Gigi – who is currently dating ‘Pillowtalk’ hitmaker Zayn Malik – continued to praise the entire team behind the fashion extravaganza for their “hard work” over the last 12 months, which she believes needs to be celebrated.
She continued: “A year of prep and hard work deserves celebration!!!!!!!
“(Even though u never stop and you’ll already be planning ’18 tomorrow morning if not already @ed_razek) (sic).”
Gigi was forced to pull out of appearing in the brand’s fashion show just days before with no explanation.
At the time she tweeted: “I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can’t wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can’t wait for next year! 🙂 x (sic)”
However, it has since been reported the star was unable to take part in the show because she had been refused a visa, after she posted a video that was deemed offensive on Instagram.
Although the post has subsequently been deleted, it sparked outrage as it captured the star holding up a Buddha-shaped biscuit and squinting her eyes to imitate the religious figure.
