Ashley Graham shares swimsuit mantra

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham always tells herself she’s “bold” and “beautiful” before she dons a swimsuit.
The curvy 31-year-old model is known for her body positivity and self confidence, and has said she gets her “beach confidence” from “a lot of different places”, including a special mantra she recites to herself before she heads down to the water.
Speaking to the July issue of Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “Where does my beach confidence come from? It comes from a lot of different places. First of all, this is the body you’re getting, whatever that body looks like – it’s going to be all of this [gestures to her body]. So just show up knowing that the beach has accepted your body.
“Mantras are very important, especially for when you’re in a swimsuit. Maybe you don’t feel as confident because you’re not wearing as many clothes. So, for me, it’s about that moment, right before you take off your swimsuit cover-up, and you’re like, ‘It’s happening’. And then you just start doing it, and you say, ‘I am bold! I am brilliant! I am beautiful!'”
But despite her confidence, Ashley recently admitted she still has insecurities about her body, but hopes talking about her struggles will help other women come to terms with the way they look.
She said: “I’ve always been very honest in sharing the insecurities I have. Cellulite, back fat.
“It opened a door for other women to share their insecurities. If we all feel the same way, why are we stressing about it? I’ve never gone to therapy but having these conversations really does help.”
And Ashley said she has had to work harder for her success in the industry because of her size.
She explained: “I had to work harder than everybody else because of my size.
“I’ve always had to suck it up. If you’re the kind of person who’s never been glamorised in fashion then you have to justify why you’re meant to be there through your efforts. Has it been hard? I’d prefer to say that it’s been rewarding.
“I started using the term curvy, not because I am no longer part of the plus-size community, but because body positivity is a broader community than we can imagine.”

Sofia Vergara’s simple skincare routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Vergara follows a “simple” skincare routine.
The ‘Modern Family’ actress says her key to flawless skin has “changed a lot with age”, especially after she developed rosacea – a common skin condition which causes redness, most predominantly around the face – several years ago thanks to working constantly in high-heat environments.
Now, Sofia says she has to keep things simple and treat her skin like “sensitive skin”, so never wears “rich moisturisers or rich oils”.
When asked what her at-home skin care routine is like, she said: “It’s changed a lot with age. I’m going to be 47 this July, and, unfortunately, because of the high-heat lamps on sets (and I live on a set), I’ve developed rosacea. I’ve been struggling with that for six or seven years. It’s hard because I get really red, so I’ve realised that I’ve had to treat my skin like sensitive skin, where I didn’t before. I used to love products and would try anything. You name it – you tell me to put cement under my eyes, and I’d try it. But unfortunately, now all the fun is gone for me. I can’t really wear rich moisturisers or rich oils. Now I have to keep it simple.”
The beauty is “religious” about removing her make up every night so her face can breathe, but says her routine is “no mystery”.
She added: “I’m very religious about taking my makeup off every night. No sun. I mean, it’s no mystery. The typical things that everyone has always told you to do for your skin – those things work. Sleeping enough. Don’t drink too much. Don’t be in the sun without sunblock. Take your makeup off.”
And some of the star’s favourite products are “very simple stuff”, including a $14 cleanser, a $5 eye makeup remover, and a $28 sunscreen.
Speaking to Who What Wear, she said: “[I use] very simple stuff. Cetaphil cleanser and eye makeup remover. I try different ones all the time, because people recommend me stuff, especially in this business. But the basic stuff works best for me. For sunscreen, I’m using Supergoop! and it’s been really good. I also use a calming serum- that’s my go-to. The serums from Luzern are really good. They don’t irritate me. I basically use anything calming. Nothing sexy. Everything has that f***ing word ‘calming’.”

Khloe Kardashian changed her mindset about food

OHMYGOSSIP — Khloe Kardashian has “completely changed” her mindset about food.
The 34-year-old reality star – who has 13-month-old daughter True with her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson – has now become “unreasonable” about what she puts into her body, as she puts her health and nutrition above everything else, which helps make her “more efficient” throughout the day.
Her nutritionist Philip Goglia said: “The biggest change that Khloe’s had is being unreasonable about her foods. Previously years ago it was like this, ‘I’m so busy, I can’t get that done now I’ll get it later. Oh, my water bottle’s empty but I have to take this meeting.’
“Her mind set is now completely changed. She’s completely unreasonable. She will say, ‘Hang on, my water bottle is empty I need to go fill it up, I’ll be right back.’ She knows that if she services her nutrition patterns everything else she does becomes easier and more efficient.”
Philip has helped the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star manage her diet with a few realistic tips, including cheat meals rather than cheat days.
He added: “Park yourself in front of Krispy Kreme for all I care, just make it one meal. And then get back on track. Compliance is critical.”
The health professional also told the beauty to eat her healthy food first before “diving into the crap” whilst dining out.
He explained to People magazine: “Khloe knows that if there’s a ton of nachos in front of you but you’re staring at your sea bass, you need to eat the fish first – and then dive into the crap. You’re always eat less crap if you’re eating healthy stuff first.”

Rihanna is named the world’s richest female musician

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna has been named the world’s richest female musician, thanks to her Fenty Beauty brand.
The 31-year-old R&B superstar – whose real name is Robyn Fenty – is known for her Grammy-award winning music career, pioneering her hugely successful inclusive make-up brand and recently becoming the first black woman in charge of a major luxury fashion house.
And now the ‘Work’ hitmaker has been crowned the world’s richest female musician in Forbes’s 2019 list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women, with a fortune totalling $600 million that beat Madonna ($570 million), Celine Dion ($450 million) and Beyonce ($400 million).
Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty brand, which was acquired through her lucrative partnership with luxury conglomerate, LVMH, in 2017, has earned the ‘Love On The Brain’ songstress $570 million in just 15 months of business.
Forbes’s list of 80 women included Oprah Winfrey, Kylie Jenner, Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres and Serena Williams, who also made history as the first athlete to have a reported fortune of approximately $225 million.
This news comes as Rihanna launched her much-anticipated eponymous fashion brand last month and previously revealed that she wanted to create “strong silhouettes” for women across the world.
She said: “I often walk into stores and I’m like, ‘I love this, but I wish it was more like that, or in a different colour or in a different fabric’ – and now I get to do it. I love strong silhouettes, and for women to look confident, that’s what I want to achieve with this collection.”
Rihanna – who took two years to create her upcoming collection – credited her mother Monica for helping to shape her style.
The ‘Work’ hitmaker said: “I always had a love of fashion and style. I loved everything my mum wore, from her make-up to her clothing.
[My mum’s style] was bad ass. She wore a lot of oversized stuff but still very feminine, I just wanted to be her.”

Slick Woods has been ‘designing footwear in sleep’

OHMYGOSSIP — Slick Woods has been “designing in her sleep”.
The 22-year-old model has created an exclusive range of sock-sneakers for The Kooples, which feature an oversized velcro strap and lace-up, and the star wanted to create footwear that “embraced” the idea of “going fast”.
She told British Vogue: “My trainers are designed to look good with everything – why wouldn’t you buy a pair? And why stop at just one? We wanted to create a sneaker that embraces the idea of going fast!
“I’ve been designing ever since I was dreaming in my sleep. I’ve always been a creative, a thinker. This is the first of many major collaborations and designing outlets.”
Slick was keen for her collaboration with the French fashion retailer to reflect her own style and “personality”.
She added: “Since the shoes are so much of my personality, the setting needed to reflect that. They go hard – those are two words I’m synonymous with – and got my vision immediately.”
Slick – who famously gave birth to her and Adonis Bosso’s son Saphir, eight months, just hours after walking the runway at Rihanna’s New York Fashion Week Savage x Fenty Lingerie Presentation in Brooklyn last September – thinks becoming a mother has allowed her to “be more confident”.
She said: “It’s proved to me that being a mother doesn’t mean you have to be inhibited or restricted, it’s a blessing that lets you be more confident in being yourself. More than I ever thought I could learn, and there is so much more to come.”
And Slick wanted to make sure that her footwear collection was not restrictive and was inclusive and true to her own beliefs.
She continued: “The collab is a call to action! What you see in my shoes is the result of the voice I’ve developed over the years. I wanted to create pieces that don’t constrict anyone or add to unnecessary labels.”
The trainers, which are priced from £245 to £255, can be purchased at Thekooples.co.uk/slick-woods

Priyanka Chopra loves to wear saris

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra says saris make her feel beautiful because she was always mesmerised by her mother’s style growing up.
The 36-year-old actress is one of the most stylish women in the world and the ‘Quantico’ star has now revealed that her “favourite” item of clothing is a traditional Indian sari because as a child she would watch her mother Madhu Chopra wear “beautiful” creations made of French chiffon, unlike many traditional saris.
Priyanka – who was born Jamshedpur in India – said: “Saris are my favourite. My problem is when it comes to Indian fashion, there are always these shiny, sequined, over-the-top Christmas-tree outfits. Those are not the saris I wear. I grew up with my mother wearing saris to the hospital, as a doctor. She’d wear these beautiful ones made of French chiffon, with a bindi over here and the nape of her neck would smell like Dior’s Poison.
“That, to me, was a modern woman. And that’s what I want to show the world. Indian designers make such incredible clothes that are inspired from beautiful embroidery and patterns.”
Priyanka also opened up about how she has learned to embrace her curvy figure as she has gotten older.
The ‘Baywatch’ star wasn’t always comfortable with her hour-glass figure in her 20s but she now realises that she is blessed to have a body like hers.
She said: “I’m a very curvy woman. I like my curves. I embrace them. It took me the second half of my 20s to understand this, but I would love for people to understand it from me saying it as well.”
Priyanka – who is married to Nick Jonas – has lots of ambitions left to fulfil in her life and she hopes that when she looks back on her career her “existence” will mean something.
She told InStyle magazine: “I want to change the world a little bit. My big endgame is creating a formidable career and legacy for myself, but at the same time I want to have moved something.
“I want my existence to have meant something. I want my kids to turn around and be like, ‘Yeah, that was my mum.’ ”

Dolly Parton always sleeps with her ‘make-up on’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton always sleeps with her “make-up on” in case a fire were to breakout and she had to make an emergency dash out the door.
The 73-year-old country music legend leaves her beauty products on her face every night and will instead choose to cleanse her skin the next morning because she “never” wants to be caught off guard in any situation where people will see her without her signature look.
She said: “I clean my face in the morning. You never know if you’re going to wreck the [tour] bus, you never know if you’re going to be somewhere in a hotel and there’s going to be a fire. So I leave my makeup on at night and clean my face in the morning.”
And Dolly went on to admit that she avoids going on the rollercoaster rides at her Dollywood theme park in in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for risk of “messing up her hair”.
Speaking to The New York Times, she said: “With all my hair I got so much to lose, like my wig or my shoes. I don’t like to get messed up. I’m gonna have some handsome man mess it up, I don’t want some ride doing it.”
The ‘Jolene’ songwriter – who is married to Carl Dean – also opened up on how her family vacations as a youngster influenced how she survives on the road when she’s touring and she says the thing she needs the most when she’s away from home is a “good pillow”.
She said: “I used to take my family on trips and vacations. We would go all over the world. We’d stop in and have food, but we’d take a lot of our own food. You’d take your own good pillows and your little things, which I still do to this day. Even when I travel overseas, I take my pillows, I take a few snack foods and other things that you might not be able to get.
“[My favourite snacks include] Potted meat. Or weird things like Vienna sausage. That and a bottle of Tabasco: If I can’t eat whatever they’re cooking, I can always have that.”

The 49-year-old singer-and-actress stepped on stage to receive the final award of the night from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in recognition of her longstanding impact on the fashion world and during her acceptance speech she teared up as she thanked her partner and her children – 11-year-old twins Max and Emme – for their unconditional love and support.
She said: “You make me feel like the MVP every day. You make me feel like the most beautiful person in the world, just from your love. Thank you so much.”

She said: “We lost two (great) artists this year, Kevyn Aucoin and Oribe, who helped turn me from an around-the-way girl.

She said: “I started making records in the ’90s, in the era of the waif and the supermodel. But once I was introduced to those people, like in this room, my life changed. Sitting in the design rooms of Oscar de la Renta, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci and so many of you guys here tonight, people who designed and allowed me to get into their designs with curves like me. J.Lo looked stunning at the event, which was held at the Brooklyn Museum in New York City, in a red custom Ralph Lauren ensemble, comprised of a turtleneck crystal embellished crop top and a long flowing skirt which was finished with sporty drawstring waist. Dua Lipa announced as ambassador for YSL Beaute

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa has been announced as an ambassador for YSL Beaute.
The 23-year-old singer has teamed up with the Parisian luxury fashion house for its upcoming women’s fragrance campaign, and the star has admitted that the partnership was a natural choice for her because it represents a “powerful” woman who is “proud” of everything she has “fearlessly” achieved.
In a statement, Dua: “I connect so much with the campaign because of its fearlessness. I stand for the importance of being confident, strong and powerful, and of not compromising on who you are, what you do and what you believe in, of always being proud of the things you do, and I feel that goes down very well with the same philosophy behind Yves Saint Laurent’s new fragrance.”
Stephan Bezy, who is the international general manager of Yves Saint Laurent Beaute at L’Oréal, insisted that Dua “embodies” YSL Beaute’s ethos and “values”.
Bezy added: “The voice of her generation, Dua Lipa embodies the values of independence and freedom, which have always been part of Yves Saint Laurent’s DNA.”
And the ‘Swan Song’ hitmaker took to Instagram to release a snapshot of the much-anticipated campaign, admitting that the journey has been a “dream come true”.
She captioned a campaign image: “The hardest secret to keep! So proud and excited to finally tell you all that I am the face of the new feminine fragrance by YSL.
“Thank you to the incredible @yslbeauty team for making me feel so at home, for allowing me to play a small role in helping choose the final scent and for making my dreams come true on working with a brand I love so much.

Zoe Kravitz applies highlighter under concealer

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Kravitz applies highlighter under her concealer to make her skin “glow”.
The 30-year-old actress is known for her flawless complexion when she is on and off camera, and she makes sure to drink lots of water and “sleep and eat well” to keep her skin in its best possible condition.
She told British Vogue magazine: “The thing I’ve always carried with me in terms of beauty is that you really have to take care of yourself. You have to drink water and sleep and eat well.
“All of that. Make-up, I always say, should highlight the things you love about yourself but it can only do so much. So if you’re not taking care of yourself your skin’s not going to look good then no amount of make-up can fix that.
“But in terms of applying make-up, you know what I’m really into? I’m into putting your highlighter on under your concealer. You can add a little on top, but it’s nice to have that glow peeking through rather than just sitting there.”
Zoe insisted she loves bold cosmetic looks, but will only opt for either a red lip or a smoky eye, and will never do both because she likes to keep her make-up “timeless”.
She added: “I am a lip or eye kind of a girl, I think it’s one or the other. I love a red lip, I just think it’s sexy and chic. And whether it’s a smoky eye or just a liquid liner I love the shape of a cat eye.
“I think it’s kind of timeless. I love the idea of a white T-shirt with a cat eye, it elevates everything. I’m kind of okay at doing it myself. The trick I’ve learned is doing it from the outside in, because I think it’s hard to match the flicks otherwise.”

Beyonce’s make-up artist Sir John launching Lion King collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce’s make-up artist Sir John is launching a ‘Lion King’-inspired cosmetic collection.
The 37-year-old R&B superstar – who is voicing Nala in the upcoming live-action remake of the Disney classic – is known for her flawless complexion, and the man behind her signature glow is beauty expert Sir John, who has teamed up with beauty brand Luminess to create an eight-piece limited-edition range of products.
And the A-List celebrity guru revealed he was incredibly “nervous” when he broke the news to the ‘Crazy In Love’ hitmaker because he didn’t know what she would make of it.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I think that even when I called Bey and I said, ‘Hey, listen, this is what’s happening,’ I was kind of nervous to see what she thought, but she was so proud and so happy for me. So I feel like this is gonna be a win.”
The much-anticipated collection includes the Kingdom Sculpting Palette ($42), Can’t Wait to Be Queen Eyeshadow Palette ($42), Be Brave Matte Lipstick ($24) in two colours, Be Prepared Liquid Lipsticks ($24), Legacy Tinted Lip Balm ($24) and Circle of Life Highlighter ($40).
And Sir John insisted he really wanted to make the collection to “run parallel” with the movie, which hits cinemas on 19 July.
He added: “So I spent a lot of time in South Africa, so Luminess and I wanted to do something that really reflects not just the landscape and sunset and all of those things that are just natural and organic, but tribal prints as well.
“I really wanted to nail it and really hit it hard with the movie and I feel like this runs quite parallel with where the movie is as well.”
The beauty expert admitted he created the Kingdom Sculpting Palette ($42), which contains various hues to carve out natural cheekbones, to “sculpt” and give the face a sun-kissed appearance.
He said: “I feel like in 2019, 2020 we can dial down the contouring so it becomes evolved. This is the 2.0 of contouring in my opinion. What that does [for fair complexions] is it starts to sculpt, but it gives a bronzy appearance to the cheek. But if you were a deeper complexion, you’d go higher on the cheek, if that makes any sense.
“So, my girls who are Mary J. Blige or deeper, they go high with this gold. But if you happen to be Nicole Kidman or very, very fair, you go lower because this is a sculpting product.”
Sir John’s ‘Lion King’-inspired collection will be available online at luminessbeauty.com on June 15 and at ulta.com and disney.com on June 16 2019.

Lady Gaga’s wardrobe goes on display in Las Vegas

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga’s wardrobe is going on display in Las Vegas.
The 33-year-old singer and the Haus of Gaga, the team of creatives behind all of her biggest looks, have opened up the doors to her own personal fashion archive and her most iconic stage outfits and red carpet looks will be placed in an exhibition that is to open at the Park MGM to coincide with her ‘Enigma’ residency, the second leg of which kicked off at the same venue this week.
Speaking about the Haus of Gaga/Las Vegas exhibition, Haus of Gaga member and curator Nicola Formichetti said: “Lady Gaga and I wanted this experience to reflect the most iconic moments the Haus of Gaga has conceptualised during her career. Our vision for Haus of Gaga/Las Vegas is a space that will visually immerse fans into Lady Gaga’s most iconic moments that will leave them in awe.”
The ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker will have all of her most talked about looks put on display for her fans, including her controversial meat dress – which she wore at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards – the custom Versace bodysuits worn for her 2017 Superbowl performance and the lace Alexander McQueen number from her ‘Alejandro’ music video to name a few.
Select pieces from the much-anticipated show will also be put up for auction, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the Born This Way Foundation, which is committed to supporting the wellness of young people, and Formichetti admitted that the experience is “surreal” and is a place Gaga’s fans can see her best looks from her ten year career in the spotlight.
Formichetti told British Vogue: “Standing in this room is surreal. This has been a dream of ours for a long time.
“We’ve always wanted to do something like this and create a space where all of the outfits and shoes and masks and wigs could all live together in a single place for fans to enjoy.
“Throughout this process I’ve been in touch with her fans and asking them which outfits they want to see and how they envisioned the exhibition space. Gaga has always been doing what she’s doing for her fans from day one, so it was important to have them be a part of this experience.”
And the Haus of Gaga curator went on to insist that it was “amazing” to see the exhibition’s process come together.
She added: “It’s amazing to see all of these different fashion pieces next to one another. The beauty of Lady Gaga is that she can be anything but still maintain her sense of self.”

Paris Hilton thanks mother for skin care lessons

OHMYGOSSIP — Paris Hilton is grateful to her mother for teaching her “the importance of skin care” when she was growing up.
The 38-year-old star is known for having a flawless complexion, and now the star has opened up about her coveted skincare ritual and praised her mother Kathy Hilton for instilling the importance of sun protection and face creams into her from a young age.
She said: “My mom taught me all about the importance of skin care when I was a little girl. I’ve been using eye creams, neck creams, and serums forever.
“My mum’s number one rule that she enforced was to stay out of the sun and to use sun protection. As a teenager, when my friends were baking in the sun, I was that girl with a giant hat on sitting under the shade.
“And I am so happy that I listened to her. Thank you for the tips, mom!”
And Paris only uses her own brand of skincare to keep her skin hydrated and glowy, and admitted that she always dunks her face in ice water to get rid of any puffiness.
She added: “One trick I that picked up years ago on a photo shoot was to fill a giant bowl with bottled water and ice and dunk your face in it for as long as possible.
“It helps wake you up, and the ice helps with any puffiness. I [also] only use Paris Hilton skincare, I’ll do a face mask and a hair mask before bed.”
The blonde beauty – who already has her own multiple businesses including her, perfume, skincare and make-up lines – recently announced that she is the newest investor of the beauty platform, The Glam App, which is an application that allows users to book their grooming appointments at the push of a button and deliver them straight to your door.
She said: “I’ve been a client of the Glam App for four years. I first discovered it through a few of my friends that were using the app and tagging them on Instagram, so I downloaded it and had a full glam team at my house within an hour–and had my hair, makeup, and nails done.
“I thought it was the most genius idea and immediately fell in love. We eventually ended up speaking and I told them I wanted to be a partner and invest in the company. This is such an exciting project for me and I’m so pumped to be launching today.”

Tyra Banks will take ‘sexy’ selfie if she sleeps in make-up

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyra Banks will take a “sexy” photo for her Instagram if she accidentally sleeps in her make-up.
The 45-year-old model recently came out of retirement from the modelling industry to pose in a yellow bikini on the cover of the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which marked her return to the magazine after being the first African-American model to pose on the cover alone in 1997 after being a joint cover star with Valeria Mazza in 1996.
And now, Tyra – who has changed her modelling name to BanX – has taken to her Instagram to give her fans some insider tips of how to achieve the perfect selfie, and the star revealed that she never sleeps in her make-up because it isn’t good for her skin, but on the rarity it does happen, she will take a raunchy selfie for social media.
She wrote: “Do NOT sleep in your makeup! (But if you do, when you wake up, you better take some sexy pictures for the gram, baby.) #TyraTaughtMe (sic)”
And Tyra went on to give her followers some industry advice and opened up about the importance of photographer “perspectives” when she is trying to get the perfect shot.
She captioned a photo of herself: “So many people pay attention to the position of a model or themselves in a photo but forget about the position of the photographer.
“Look at this photo of me. I’m laying on my back in my bed. The photographer is standing above me – left foot on one side of my leg, right foot on the other side.
“The photographer is shooting down on me to create this intimate perspective. When you’re having fun with your friends and they’re taking your photo, you shouldn’t be the only one working hard, moving all around to get different angles. Encourage the photographer to ‘dance around’ and do the same.#TyraTaughtMe #BanX (sic)”
