THE BRILLIANT Makeup Trick Meghan Markle always does, but no one has noticed

OHMYGOSSIP – As we’ve watched her transition from TV actress to member of the royal family, one thing’s become very clear: Meghan Markle has plenty of beauty tricks up her sleeve. Some she’s borrowed from Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge, and some she’s established herself, PopSugar.co.uk mediates.

The Duchess of Sussex is known for her signature messy bun and a good dose of bronzer, but she also has a lip liner trick that you’ve probably never even noticed. Overlining the lips is nothing new, and the technique often gets a bad rap (thank you, the ’90s), but recently the trick has been used in a far less obvious way, to make lips appear fuller without adding colour. Meghan has been doing this so subtly that it’s barely noticeable, which makes all the difference in maintaining a natural finish.

Ralph Lauren is first American fashion designer to receive honorary British knighthood by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II

OHMYGOSSIP – Ralph Lauren is to become the first American fashion designer to be knighted by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. On Wednesday, British Vogue reported that the 79-year-old has been recognized for his services to fashion with an honorary British knighthood. Bono, Steven Spielberg and Bill Gates are among the other non-British citizens to receive the same honor.

The insignia will be presented to the businessman and philanthropist by a representative of the British royal during a ceremony next year.

“Mr Lauren has played a key role in forging transatlantic cultural and economic connections,” said Antony Phillipson, British Consul General to New York and Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for North America. “As creator and visionary of the Ralph Lauren brand worldwide, he has been a vanguard for the global fashion industry and American style for nearly half a century. In addition, monumental philanthropic efforts, especially in the realm of public health, cancer research and treatment in both the U.S. and the U.K., have led to benefits felt by citizens around the world.”

The news tops off a fantastic few months for the fashion mogul, who received a CFDA Members Salute in June on behalf of the 500-plus members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The label also staged a mammoth 50th anniversary fashion show in September, which was attended by a plethora of celebrities such as Kanye West, Oprah Winfrey, Jessica Chastain and Blake Lively.

Addressing his legacy in a recent interview with Town and Country magazine, the fashion veteran explained his success stems from his willingness to take chances.

“Good taste alone is not going to build a company that lasts for 50 years. You know, good taste can be boring taste, and classics can be uninteresting,” he explained. “If all I had was good taste, people would say this is just an old man designing clothes.”

Model-turned-businesswoman Elle Macpherson talks about her new beauty range WelleCo

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Macpherson says her beauty range is about feeling good rather than looking good. The 54-year-old model-turned-businesswoman has created a line of plant-based wellness products, which are intended to make people feel good.

The blonde beauty said: “For me, what I have come to terms with is that from my personal experience as a woman, the way I feel has much more importance to me today than the way I look. And the by-product of that is because I’m well and healthy – and this was really the foundation of WelleCo.”

The fashion icon noticed a few years ago that she was not looking or feeling her best. And after consulting a nutritional doctor, Elle was put on a plant-based diet including an alkalising green powder, which the model says has turned her life around.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BgkJELFB_ZZ/?taken-by=ellemacphersonofficial

In an interview with CNBC, Elle explained: “I was malnourished and not getting enough sleep. I was trying to apply the same things that worked at 20 (years old) – and they didn’t work anymore at 50. That’s sort of a no brainer, but it took someone to point it out to me,”

“When I was younger, there was definitely a correlation between youth and beauty, but when I turned 50 – and I’m 54 now. I realised that actually the correlation was wellness and beauty, and that really struck a chord for me. And that’s how WelleCo all started really.”

The business woman teamed up with Andrea Horwood in 2014 to launch the ingestible beauty range, which is designed by nutritional doctor. Elle said: “Wellness has really become my foundation, and the foundation of my business. The beautiful by-product of this is that I’ve seen a growing correlation between wellness and beauty – particularly as I’ve matured.”

Alexa Chung felt intimated by the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme for this year’s Met Gala theme

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung felt intimated by the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme for this year’s Met Gala theme. The 34-year-old designer – who launched her eponymous brand in 2017 – was nervous about the religious tone for the exclusive event but after embracing it she used the attire worn by altar boys during mass as inspiration for her white chiffon dress.

Alexa and her team of stylists played around with a variety of possible looks for her to rock at the star-studded event and struggled to decide between bold colors or muted tones, but eventually decided for a stark white and short silhouette even designing a mini bucket bag embroidered with images of the seven deadly sins from the bible which she incorporated as a “nod to vanity”.

Speaking to Vogue, she said: “This is an actual ‘Cinderella’ situation. The theme sounded fairly intimidating at first, it sort of evoked a seriousness and grandeur that isn’t necessarily within my comfort zone. In the end, we kept it white because it was reminiscent of an altar boy smock, I think the theme created plenty of scope for playfulness. It was too tempting not to have a little nod to vanity with me as I traversed the carpet”

And Alexa – who has also designed clothing with Marks & Spencer and a shoe collection with Superga – says getting to attend the event whilst wearing her own design was “huge” for her.

She said: “It’s huge for me because I first attended the Met Ball as a guest of a designer in 2010, to fast-forward to this moment when I’m wearing a dress of my own design, from the company that I started, is thrilling.”

Alessandra Ambrosio: I work hard on arranging my schedule to spend as much time as possible with my children Noah and Anja

OHMYGOSSIP — Alessandra Ambrosio’s children are her number-one priority. The 37-year-old model makes it her aim to arrange her schedule so she can spend as much time with her children – Noah (5) and Anja (9), JustJared.com mediates.

She said: “My children are always going to be my number-one priority, so I work hard on arranging my schedule to spend as much time as possible with them.”
And Alessandra would support her children if they wanted to follow in her footsteps and become models themselves.

She added: “I want my children to do what they love, and if that’s modeling, then I would be there every step of the way to support them. Right now they’re enjoying being kids, learning about the world, and exploring.”

The former Victoria’s Secret model adores Mother’s Day because it means she can spend the whole day with her kids. She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “It’s the one day that I get to spend every moment with my kids. Anja and Noah usually wake me up with breakfast in bed. For the rest of the day we do fun activities like yoga, baking, and crafts. We also take my mom out to a nice lunch to celebrate her.”

Meanwhile, Alessandra previously admitted that motherhood has made her less comfortable posing in lingerie. She said: “I used to be 100 per cent comfortable on lingerie shoots – then I had a child, and it was more of a mental shift than anything else. Somehow it felt a bit weirder to be in lingerie once I was a mother. Although I did that cover for Maxim last year, you don’t see anything. When my daughter saw it, she asked, ‘Mummy, why do you have no clothes on?’ And I said, ‘Mummy actually has a G-string on – it’s just so small you can’t see it.'”

Olivier Rousteing on dressing Beyoncé in Balmain for Coachella 2018 and getting Jay-Z’s Seal of Approval

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivier Rousteing got Blue Ivy and Jay-Z’s approval for Beyonce’s Coachella stage costumes. The 32-year-old designer – who was appointed as creative director of Balmain in 2011 – was the mastermind behind the R&B superstar’s outfits for her headline slot at the Californian music festival at the weekend and has spilled that her jaw-dropping “military style” got her rapper husband Jay-Z, 48, very “excited” which made Olivier feel a lot of professional pride.

Speaking to Vogue.com, he said: “I think the thing I will always remember is sitting on the floor with B and cutting fabric, Blue comes in and runs over to B, and B holds her in her arms while talking to us about the cuts and silhouettes. To me, it was just such a beautiful moment because here you are with this megastar but also, she is a strong woman and a loving momma to her daughter.

“Jay saw the Egyptian goddess cape and when B put it on, his eyes went wide and he was so excited, he said, ‘Oh, wow!’ That gave me a lot of satisfaction.” Oliver created the costumes for Beyonce’s history-making performance – as well as the 200 on-stage dancers, and her Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, whom she reunited with – in only a few weeks and he admits putting together her main five elaborate outfits, ranging from an embellished yellow hoodie to a hologram-fabric bodysuit, in such a short space of time whilst working so closely with her is a “rare” thing to happen in the fashion world.

He said: “B is a perfectionist, she has such a distinct vision for fashion and for her music, I really learned a lot from this experience and from watching her work in those rehearsals. If I am being totally transparent, it is very, very rare in this kind of process to have so much communication with the artist and the ones closest to her on her team. I was able to be in the room with her and she would give me direct feedback about how the lighting should hit the clothes, what the music had to emphasize about each look – I never had to guess what to do next.”

Rap star Professor Green has also come out in support of Burberry’s new design, Harpers Bazaar mediates. The musician – whose real name is Stephen Manderson – wrote on his Instagram account: “Props to @burberry. I know how homophobic hiphop can seem verbally, but biggie is still my pal Luke’s favourite rapper. There are so many reasons people feel isolated, out of place and alone. Diversity is a beautiful thing as is inclusion. However different we may be in our own little ways we all have much more in common than we might realise. When we hurt we all hurt the same. No one truly flourishes without love and happiness in their lives. Try spreading a little, it feels lovely. (sic)”

Meanwhile, Cara previously admitted to being pleased by how attitudes towards sexuality have become “freer” over recent years. The 25-year-old beauty shared: “I know 13- and 15-year-old girls who are like, ‘I don’t know if I like a boy or a girl yet. I haven’t decided.’ And it’s like – [imagine] if I was able to comprehend [that at their age]. I am very happy how sexuality has become easier and freer to talk about, especially for kids.”

Tyra Banks doesn’t want her son York to follow her into the modelling industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyra Banks doesn’t want her son to follow her into the modelling industry. The 44-year-old beauty has a two-year-old son called York with her former partner Erik Asla – but Tyra has admitted she’d be loathed to see her baby boy try his hand at modelling, because she worries how it might change him.

She explained: “Being a mom and raising a son … I just don’t want him to be a model.” But then, during her interview with People magazine, Tyra tried to apply a bit of reverse psychology on her son. She continued: “No actually, let me change that. Baby, I want you to model. I want you to get up and model every single day. Because they rebel right? They rebel. I just think that for guys, being a male model, what does that do to you?”

Meanwhile, Tyra previously admitted that she’s been “suffering” as a working mother. The world-famous star conceded it’s been a challenge to balance her busy work schedule with raising her child, following her split from her boyfriend of five years.

Asked about the biggest surprise she’s encountered as a mother, Tyra explained: “Just how tired [I am]. I’m tired right now because I was up all night. He was waking up all night last night, and [needed a] bottle at 5:30 this morning.”

Tyra is lucky to have a strong support network of people around her and, despite the challenges she’s faced, the model considers struggling to be part and parcel of being a working mother. She shared: “I do have a lot of help, but I don’t have help all the time. So those moments when I’m like, in it and suffering, I’m like, ‘This is what I’m supposed to be doing as a mama.'”

Victoria Beckham can’t wait to wear kitten heels: I’m excited to wear these, I’ve done lots of complete flats and proper heels but I haven’t done a kitten heel before

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham is “excited” to wear kitten heels. The 43-year-old fashion designer swapped her stilettos for trainers back in 2016 because she felt she couldn’t “concentrate” while tottering about in the killer heels, but the brunette beauty introduced the pointed-toe slingback kitten heel at New York Fashion week yesterday (11.02.18) and is excited to start styling them for herself, Female First mediates.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, she said: “I’m excited to wear these, I’ve done lots of complete flats and proper heels but I haven’t done a kitten heel before.”

And that’s not the only modern twist the Spice Girls singer has made recently as she decided to create her own version of a fur coat by using a textural faux-fur print. She added: “[real fur] isn’t right for me and my brand, so this is a modern take.”

But it’s not just about looking stylish as Victoria – who has four children; Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 12, and Harper, six, with her husband David Beckham – thought outside the box when it came to practicality as she created a series of felt sack bags. She joked: “Do you know how many kids I have? I can put my kids in here and all my kids’ stuff.”

Victoria will now jet back to her native to prepare for London Fashion Week and, although it’s her home turf, she has admitted she’s “nervous” about it. She explained: “I’m excited to be celebrating at home. I’m nervous too, I’m not going to lie. I’ve never shown there before. It’s time to change things up and try something new. I’ve always liked being entrepreneurial and thinking outside the box.”

Michelle Dockery enjoys taking risks on the red carpet: The red carpet is fun, it’s dress-up and gives you a chance to look at designers’ new work

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Dockery relishes the opportunity to take risks on the red carpet. The 36-year-old actress – who is, perhaps, best known for her starring role in ‘Downton Abbey’ – has revealed she sees premieres and awards shows as opportunities to “look at designers’ new work”, the Vogue.co.uk mediates.

Asked how she gets ready for her red carpet appearances, Michelle shared: “The red carpet is fun, it’s dress-up and gives you a chance to look at designers’ new work. I work a lot with Micaela Erlanger who knows me very well and what styles I like. I am always open to new suggestions but ultimately I choose what to wear by how it makes me feel on the day. That’s the fun of it!”

The actress defines her style sense as being “simple, classic with a bit of London”. But she’s admitted to occasionally stepping out of her comfort zone since she’s become famous.
Asked whether her style has changed over recent years, she told Vogue magazine: “My core style hasn’t changed but Micaela introduces me to new designers and encourages me to step out of my comfort zone.”

Despite her celebrity status, Michelle is still keen to unearth some bargains whenever she goes shopping. And the actress revealed she is a particular fan of TK Maxx, where she shops with her mother Lorraine. She said: “For street style, I like HVN, especially her button-down shirts. Also Cos, which is stylish and affordable. I like TK Maxx – my mum and I go in there and we love it when we find a hidden gem. Aspinal is great too. Its range allows people to have beautifully made products without breaking the bank. I live in J Brand and Mother jeans. For day shoes, I love Del Toro and for evening shoes, Rupert Sanderson heels.”

New York Fashion Week: How Philipp Plein became the industry’s bad boy

OHMYGOSSIP — Philipp Plein has never been invited to a fashion show. The 39-year-old designer admitted he “didn’t have a clue” what to do when he first showcased his creations with a catwalk event because he’s never experienced the style extravaganza’s first-hand as an audience member.

He said: “I’ve never been to any fashion show by myself. I’ve never been invited to any. So I don’t know how it really is to go to a fashion show. I started as an outsider to the fashion industry, and from the beginning, I didn’t have any clue how to set one up. So we just did it our way.”

And Philipp compared his shows to a “happy funeral”, because they signal the end of one collection and the beginning of a new one for him. He added to BBC News: “A fashion show is a bit like a happy funeral. You work so hard for months on putting a show together, and then the moment you reveal the collection to the public, you’ve buried it, because then you have to start working on a new one.”

The German-born designer doesn’t worry about having to seek inspiration for his creations because he can get ideas from anything from a game of chess to an interesting piece of wallpaper. He said: “Inspirations are everywhere. Some people say ‘I go to India, I go here, I go there’ – that’s all [rubbish]. You can have inspiration watching television at home, reading a book or playing chess. You could see wallpaper and say ‘that’s a great print for a dress’. Or you could see a painting and say wow, I like the colour combination. You have to be open-minded.”
