OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Big Brother’ narrator Marcus Bentley will reportedly make a comeback on the show’s reboot.
The 55-year-old voiceover artist’s work became a trademark of the reality series from its launch series on Channel 4 in 2000, and his Tyneside twang was a highlight until its last run on Channel 5 in 2018.
A TV source told The Sun about him making a return to the show when it is resurrected on ITV2 later this year: “It’s long been rumoured that he was returning to the show, though many dismissed it as wishful thinking.
“But now it’s a done deal between Marcus and the producers and fans are likely to be delighted.
“After all, his voice was an essential part of the whole Big Brother experience, and his return will add to the reboot’s authenticity.”
Along with Marcus’ booming “Day one in the ‘Big Brother’ house” announcement, it has also emerged the show’s live feed will return that enabled viewers to watch the housemates 24 hours a day, even when it was only them sleeping with virtually no action in the house.
It was available from the first series until it was stopped in 2009.
The option was brought back in 2010 – for a fee – but dropped when ‘Big Brother’ moved to Channel 5.
Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant AJ Odudu, 35, and ex-T4 presenter Will Best, 38, are fronting the new show, due to return in the autumn.
AJ has said when she confirmed she was taking on the role: “I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting ‘Big Brother’! I couldn’t be happier.
“Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour – and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake.”
Will added: “I grew up with Big Brother so getting a chance to host it with my mate AJ is a dream come true. I can’t wait to tell some housemates not to swear.”
