Eamonn Holmes thinks GB News can beat Good Morning Britain’s ratings record

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes thinks GB News can beat the ratings record of ‘Good Morning Britain’.
The 62-year-old broadcaster hosted fellow ITV show ‘This Morning’ alongside wife Ruth Langsford from 2006 until 2022 and now fronts a rival breakfast show on GB News, which he has suggested could end up beating Piers Mrogan’s record viewing figures of almost two million for an episode of ‘GMB’ in May 2020.
Asked whether he thought GB News’ breakfast show could surpass that figure, Eamonn told reporters at the TIC Awards: “Oh God yes. You wouldn’t be doing what you do if you don’t think you’re the best at what you do. So of course, if you don’t think you can overtake them you shouldn’t be doing it!”
The former ‘Sunrise’ presenter went on to insist that he did not “resign” from ITV as he branded his former employer’s team as a “ministry of lies.
He claimed: “The ministry of lies, their press office, of course, which chunder out the same sort of… yeah, the ministry of lies. So the point is I did not resign from ITV, ITV resigned from me, and I never received a single explanation once of why they wanted rid of me, so that was that”
Eamonn – who has son Jack, 20, with Ruth and as well as Declan, 33, Rebecca, 31, and Niall, 29, from his first marriage to Gabrielle – went on to insist that official statements by ITV have been untrue.
He added: “No matter what you’ve been told. And also the sort of stuff that comes out: ‘Eamonn believes he’s male, pale and stale’. It doesn’t look like it, does it? Eamonn never once said it, ITV press office said that. I’ve never slagged off ITV. I’m just telling the truth.”
Former ‘X Factor’ presenter Dermot O’Leary and ex-‘Big Brother’ star Alison Hammond took over the show’s Friday slot while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield remain as regular presenters on Mondays to Thursdays, with Ruth continuing to anchor lunchtime show ‘Loose Women’ on a regular basis.
Last month, Eamonn accused ITV of lying, and a spokesperson told Metro.co.uk in response: “This isn’t a version of events that we recognise and as we have said before we wish Eamonn all of the very best.”
