OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Carney is to join ITV’s football coverage from next season.
The former pro footballer-turned-pundit will work across ITV’s England Women and FA Cup coverage as well as its World Cup team for the Qatar tournament later this year, and the Euro 2024 finals.
She said: “I’m delighted to be joining ITV ahead of what is an incredible period coming up in the football calendar.
“There’s going to be so much to look forward to for fans over the coming months and I can’t wait to kick things off.”
Karen will continue to work with Sky Sports on their Premier League and FA Women’s Super League coverage.
This comes ahead of ITV’s coverage of England Women’s Euro Warm-up internationals starting this evening (16.06.22) with the live broadcast of England v Belgium on ITV4, followed by England v Netherlands on 24 June and Switzerland v England on Thursday 30th June.
Karen recently admitted she has “worked hard” at being a pundit because it is “quite challenging” being on TV.
Speaking in April, she told GiveMeSport Women: “It was quite hard to learn how to be on TV.
“I’ve never really done it before. I’ve had to work hard at it and to try and improve. It looks easy but it’s actually quite challenging.
“You’re there to analyse a game, but it’s a show at the end of the day, so you’ve got to make it good for the audience.
“The hardest shift was definitely learning more about TV, but I’ve really enjoyed it.
“I just want to do my job and be the best at it. I know there have been barriers, and I’ve been through situations myself where it’s quite challenging.
“But I don’t look at myself as an inspiration, and I didn’t when I played either. I think just do your job as a player or as a pundit, and just do the best that you can. And just enjoy it and see where that goes.”
