OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker is set to star in a new ‘Doctor Who’ audio drama.
The 39-year-old actress – who was announced as the first-ever female Doctor in 2017 – is now set to star in the new ten-part audio drama for BBC Sounds.
Series creator Juno Dawson said: “‘Doctor Who’ was my first love, and it’s an absolute thrill to add to the ever-expanding mythology in podcast form for the first time ever.
“What a total privilege to write for something so beloved, and put my own little flag on the landscape.”
The new series – which will also star the likes of Charlie Craggs, Lois Chimimba and Holly Quin-Ankrah – will centre on a group of friends who are connected by a paranormal conspiracy podcast called ‘The Blue Box Files’.
Episode one of ‘Doctor Who: Redacted’ will be made available on BBC Sounds on April 17.
Meanwhile, Jodie is set to leave ‘Doctor Who’ later this year, and the actress previously admitted that she was “crying her eyes out” during her final days on set.
She said: “I was just crying my eyes out, absolutely gone. I always knew this is the best time I will ever have on a job. I have felt like that from the start of it.”
Jodie also insisted she’ll carry her ‘Doctor Who’ experience with her for the rest of her life.
She shared: “In 2017 I opened my glorious gift box of size 13 shoes. I could not have guessed the brilliant adventures, worlds and wonders I was to see in them. I will carry the Doctor and the lessons I’ve learnt forever.”
