It’s a Sin wins three gongs at Royal Television Society Programme Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘It’s a Sin’ won three gongs at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards on Tuesday (29.03.22).
The hit drama – which centres on the Aids crisis in the UK – won the Limited Series accolade during the awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Russell T Davies – the show’s creator – also claimed the Writer award, while Callum Scott Howells won in the Best Male Actor category.
Elsewhere, the Judges’ Award was handed to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for its 2021 series.
The BBC show was praised for breaking new ground, despite being the most popular entertainment show on British television.
Rose Ayling-Ellis became the programme’s first deaf contestant and the first-ever disabled winner of the coveted glitterball trophy in 2021.
‘Strictly’ was also praised for its other casting choices, after John Whaite and Johannes Radebe became the first all-male dance couple in the show’s history.
Graham Norton received the Outstanding Contribution to British Television accolade.
The 58-year-old TV star was handed the special prize as a recognition of his 30-year career in the entertainment industry.
Graham was originally due to received the accolade in 2020, but he was unable to because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Acclaimed screenwriter Jack Thorne also enjoyed a night to remember, as he received the Outstanding Contribution Award.
The 43-year-old writer – who began his TV career working on ‘Shameless’ and ‘Skins’ – was praised for creating some of the most compelling and important pieces of TV in recent years.
Meanwhile, Gary Neville won the Royal Television Society award for best Sports Presenter, Commentator or Pundit.
The former Manchester United and England star subsequently took to social media to thank his colleagues at Sky Sports.
Alongside a photo of himself with the award, Gary wrote on Twitter: “Delighted to win a @RTS_media award last night for Best Presenter , commentator and pundit. Thank you so much to everyone at Sky for your brilliant work and also to all the football fans that make the game what it is [heart emoji] (sic)”
