OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas’ daughter is joining her uncle Adam Thomas in ‘Waterloo Road’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star has announced that his 13-year-old child Scarlett – his daughter with his ex-partner, fellow ‘Corrie’ star Tina O’Brien – has been cast in the upcoming 11th series of the BBC One school drama.
Scarlett will be playing a student at Waterloo Road and she will be working directly with uncle Adam, 33, as she will be the daughter of his character Donte Charles and Chlo Grainger (Katie Griffiths).
Ryan, 37, announced the news on his Instagram account, sharing a sweet photo of Adam with Scarlett when she was younger.
He captioned the post: “The secret is finally out!!!
“As a Father and big brother it doesn’t get much better in life to find out that my brother is going back to “Waterloo Road ” where it all started for him in his career to then find out Scarlett is going to play his daughter in the show. @adamthomas21 @scarlettjthomas26 @waterlooroad”
Scarlett’s mother Tina, 38, also shared her pride at her daughter’s casting, posting: “Very excited to finally be able to announce that my gorgeous, lovely, talented Scarlett Thomas will be in the new series of @waterlooroad @bbciplayer #proudmum”
Adam previously spoke about how he felt “blessed” to be returning to ‘Waterloo Road’.
The actor made his acting breakthrough as Donte Charles in the series from 2006 to 2009 before making an even bigger name for himself in ‘Emmerdale’, and he is delighted to be returning to the show that kick-started his career.
He said: “I’m so excited to go back to where it all started!
“‘Waterloo Road’ was a huge part of my life and career so to go back 15 years later is a dream come true.
“I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity to get back to acting and doing what I love!
“I can’t wait to see some old faces and some new. I know this series is going to be the best one yet.”
Other new additions to the ‘Waterloo Road’ cast for the new series include Kym Marsh as school canteen worker Nicky Walters, who is also a mum to two pupils at the fictional school, ‘Still Open All Hours’ star James Baxter as joint deputy head Joe Casey and Jo Coffey as Wendy Whitwell, PA to headteacher Kim Campbell, a role which Angela Griffin will reprise.
