OHMYGOSSIP — Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice think it would have been “weird” not to dance their Couple’s Choice again in the Strictly Come Dancing final.
The couple will repeat their week eight routine to ‘Symphony’ by Clean Bandit ft. Zara Larsson – which featured a silent sequence in recognition of the fact the ‘EastEnders’ actress is deaf – when they bid for the Glitterball Trophy on Saturday (17.12.21) and admitted there was never any doubt in which of their favourites they would perform again.
Giovanni said: “I think for us it was such a big moment, so it’d be weird for us not to do it again.
“Obviously the silent moment was so powerful and because this got so much attention, Rose kept saying that the dance changed her life and lots of people’s lives so it’s just fair to do it again.”
And the professional hopes their Showdance will be a “celebration” of his and Rose’s bond.
He told reporters: “It’s a celebration of me and Rose and our relationship together. In a sense of we found this beautiful friendship and that’s what we want to celebrate on Saturday night!”
Meanwhile, Giovanni admitted he would have been “quite jealous” if anyone else had been partnered with Rose.
He said: “It’s been a fantastic journey, she’s developed a lot as a dancer, but yeah it’s been lovely.
“I always say I’m the one privileged to do this journey with Rose, if she was doing it with someone else I’d be quite jealous. Big time.”
And the 27-year-old actress admitted she has had a far better time on the show than she’d expected.
She said: “I knew we were going to be a good team. One thing I really liked about Gio is his track record!
“And then I realised he was funny and we have a similar sense of humour. He’s a very good teacher but he can have fun. It’s been better than I ever thought it was going to be.”
Rose praised her dance partner for the way he has adapted to her needs.
She explained: “He meets me halfway, so he’s literally come to my world and respects who I am and the way I learn things, and adjusted to teaching around that. It’s worked so well because sometimes when things don’t, he’s like, ‘OK, that didn’t work. Let’s try to make it work.’ And I think that’s been fantastic!”
The couple will compete against AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington and John Whaite and his partner Johannes Radebe in this weekend’s final.
