OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama has started a ‘Walk The Line’ WhatsApp group so she doesn’t miss out on the gossip.
The 27-year-old presenter – who has been isolating and remaining socially distanced in a different bubble to judges Gary Barlow, Alesha Dixon, Craig David and Dawn French – wanted to make sure she was still part of the fun.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “Since COVID restrictions are still in place, the judges are in one bubble and Maya is on her own in a bubble.
“It means they cannot mingle either before or after the show’s filming to trade gossip, so there was only one solution.
“Everyone is joking that they now not only ‘walk the line’ but they ‘talk the line.’ ”
Although Simon Cowell has an executive producer role on the show, he has stepped back from being a judge – but has no plans of quitting being on on-screen for good.
He recently said: “It’s just this one, for now.
“Sometimes I just like to produce the shows, I just took everything into account and realised this was when I needed to step back.”
The ‘X Factor’ creator enthused about working in production over “being in front of the camera.”
He admitted: “I actually enjoy producing rather than being in front of the camera.”
It was previously announced the new television show – which is set to debut on ITV and will air on six consecutive nights – will see Gary Barlow take on the role of head judge, and despite rumours of a feud between him and Simon, the Syco boss insisted he “loves” the Take That star.
He said: “I’ve known Gary for 30 years. I’m mad at him when he’s on other shows.
“Now he’s on my show and I love him.”
