OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Peaty expected dancing to be “easy” before he starred in this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The Olympic swimmer and his pro partner Katya Jones became the latest pairing to be eliminated from the BBC One Latin and ballroom show last weekend, and the 26-year-old star admitted he still feels “exhausted” following his efforts in the competition.
He said: “I thought dancing would be easy but that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s been one of the best experiences that I’ll always remember for the rest of my life.
“I’m still exhausted but very relieved I got a lie in! I’ve not had a lie for a long time.
“It was 10 o’clock on Monday morning and I was expecting a text from Katya to say, ‘Where are you?’ So it’s been quite good.”
Katya admitted it was a “privilege” to dance with Olympic “hero” Adam.
Speaking in a joint interview on ‘Strictly – It Takes Two’, she added: “We’ve been so privileged to have our Olympic hero come back from the Olympics and throw himself completely out his comfort zone. I’ve just loved every single day.
“I’m sure everyone would be very grateful for those tight trousers [in the Samba]! You rose to the challenge and inspired everyone to believe that you can do anything if you apply yourself.
“Thank you for everything – I’m still not ready to go.”
It comes as Adam’s mum Caroline Peaty claimed the show was a “fix” after her son was eliminated.
She tweeted: “Proud @adam_peaty and @Mrs_katjones such an amazing partnership and @Mrs_katjones you have taught my baby boy how to dance, thank you x Total fix and I’m not buying the public vote [thumbs down emoji] (sic)”
What’s more, Adam – who has won five Olympic medals – has told how he has considered he could possibly be on the autism spectrum after one of his friends was diagnosed.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, in his new book ‘The Gladiator Mindset’, he writes: “One of my friends has got autism and we’re like, ‘Oh we’re very similar’, and I’m very single-minded on a task as well.”
‘Strictly – It Takes Two’ continues every weeknight at 6:30pm on BBC Two and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ airs on Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
