OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Scott hopes more women will feature as game shows hosts in the coming years.
The 37-year-old football pundit made her debut as the presenter of new BBC One programme ‘The Tournament’ on Monday (08.11.21), and she is keen for other ladies to follow in her footsteps.
The former Arsenal footballer told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We’ve all grown up knowing that quiz shows are male, with a certain look or a certain sound.”
Alex hopes that seeing her present a game show will make other women feel “space” exists for them too.
She said: “So, all I can hope for now is people see me on ‘The Tournament’ … they believe that there’s the space for them.”
“It’s starting to change, let’s keep changing that narrative.”
This comes after ‘Football Focus’ host Alex previously spoke about how she was in a “really dark place” with her mental health due to social media trolls, but she found therapy really helped her.
She said: “I was in a really dark place … I was lonely.
“I’d go home and it felt like I was all on my own. [I’d think], I’ve got no one to talk to, no one knows what I’m experiencing or going through.
“Until, eventually, the only thing I could do was tell everyone.
“That was my, ‘I can’t take it any more, I need to tell you all what I’m going through’ moment.
“Going to therapy was absolutely the most enlightening thing I’ve ever done in my life. I love it. I will never stop.”
