OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Walsh and Toby-Alexander Smith are expecting their first child together.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actress and the ‘EastEnders’ star cannot wait to become parents, and while they were trying for a baby, the couple were surprised to get pregnant so quickly.
Toby-Alexander – who plays serial killer Gray Atkins in the BBC One soap – said: “There’s never a perfect time.
“You could always think, ‘We could do with a bigger house or investing more time in our careers,’ but if you’ve met the right person then that’s it.”
Amy is currently acting out a postnatal depression in ‘Emmerdale’ as her character Tracy Metcalfe.
And the 34-year-old star thought she might struggle to conceive after she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries when she was 20 years old.
Speaking in a joint interview with OK! magazine, she said: “I always thought falling pregnant was going to be a battle.
“Toby knew how worried I was, especially as I’m a bit older.
“I did wonder if it would ever happen for me, so it feels like a blessing.
“It’s always something I hoped and prayed would happen at some point.
“I’ve enjoyed being an auntie, but after meeting Toby I felt like I really wanted a child myself.”
The couple met in the audience at ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2019.
Amy recently admitted anyone who has been through postnatal depression must be finding her current soap storyline a “hard watch”.
She said: “For anyone who’s been through it, it must be a hard watch.
“It’s the first time I’ve taken on something really important.”
