OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Greco is praying with “all [his] heart” his newborn baby will “pull through” as he prepares to undergo a critical operation.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor’s son Gianluca was born six weeks premature on July 1st and diagnosed with rare birth defect gastroschisis, but the 51-year-old star is now hoping the little one will need just one more op before he can “start to try and live a normal, healthy life”.
He wrote on Instagram: “Daddy,Daddy. What’s the name of that song you love?…It’s on the tip of my tongue… Oh yes, I know….. NESSUN DORMAAAAAAAA……” My beautiful and brave son, Gianluca, hopefully has one more critical operation before he can start to try and live a normal, healthy life. I’m not the most religious of people but I am praying with all my heart that my absolute world will pull through like the true fighter he has already shown to be. I love you GG xxx (sic)”
Earlier this month, Michael – who played Beppe di Marco in the BBC soap from 1998 to 2002 – revealed he and his girlfriend Helen Harris’ baby had entered the world weighing just 4.47lbs after he was born prematurely, and the youngster was admitted to ICU.
He wrote: “My boy…Gianluca Greco. Born July 1st 2021. Weighing 4.47lbs. The little man was born prematurely due to the fact that previous scans had failed to pick up his rare birth defect called Gastroschisis. The consultant suggested it was best for him to born early so that he could get the necessary care and attention. He was born at University College of London Hospital @uclh Their staff were extremely professional and Mother and Baby could not have been in better hands. Dad was a “tad” emotional to say the least! Baby has already had his first operation to replace his bowel where it should belong and is under the worlds best care of @greatormondst where he will be in ICU for a while and most probably for up to 6 weeks. My heart is full already and this is by far the best day of my life. I love you Gianluca more than I can ever imagine. xxx (sic).”
