OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Wood has told Matt Hancock to “crack on” like his ‘EastEnders’ character.
The 48-year-old actor – who played Max Branning on the BBC soap for 15 years until his final appearance in February – has given the MP some advice after he was caught kissing former lobbyist Gina Coladangelo.
Jake’s alter ego Max was filmed having an affair during a Christmas episode four years ago, and now he’s offered his thoughts.
Asked what advice his character would give to Hancock, he told talkRADIO: “Crack on, keeping going on, just carry on. Don’t worry about it, it’ll be alright in the end.
“Max was one of those characters who always did the wrong thing, but he always thought it would turn out alright and it never did.”
And the soap star revealed many fans have seen some similarities between his storyline and the former Health Secretary’s smooch, which was caught on camera.
He said: “I’ve got loads of people on social media contacting me saying [Hancock] reminded them of Max Branning and Stacey Slater.
“Max was famously caught having on DVD an affair with his son’s girlfriend, so very similar in some ways, though Max’s moves weren’t quite up to scratch.”
Jake also joked ‘EastEnders’ bosses got rid of him because there were no more women for Max to sleep with.
However, he revealed there was one character he would go back to reignite the flame with.
He added: “Charlie Brooks, who plays Janine, has just gone back.
“I always thought Max and Janine would be a really toxic couple because she’s a really strong character – she would give Max as good as he gets.”
